"Any time, lover," she joked, though in a more serious tone, she said, "I did enjoy it, though. Torturing him for information, then killing him. Makes me wonder... if maybe...." Her voice trailed off,but her line of thought was not hard to follow. She was wondering if time made her like Ander.

"No." He said simply, already making the connection. "Don't think he has any hold on you. Emmalia, you know that you'll always be better than him, no matter what he says or does. You've got me, and I won't let him lay a finger on you."

Em pressed her head into his chest. "I guess the difference is that I'm disgusted with myself for enjoying it. And that I only enjoyed it -at least I think I did - because he killed you. I hope so, at least...."

"Emmalia, you know yourself better than anyone else does. If you believe you enjoyed it because I was killed, then that must be it. Don't give him any credit where it isn't due. The less you think you're based on him, the more you'll learn that you're wonderful on your own."

Emmalia looked up to meet Callum's eyes, then settled down again and hugged him tightly. Talking about Ander always hurt, but the thought had been bugging her recently, her own use of torture. At least Callum was back.

Callum ran his hand gently through her hair to calm her a bit. He knew talking about Ander always made her upset, and tried to avoid talking about it. However, the similarities were a bit close to be ignored. "I love you, Emmalia."

Emmalia slowly but surely relaxed under his touch. She softly said, "I love you too, Callum." She nuzzled against his chest lightly, then laid her head down again, her whole body relaxing from the effect of his playing with her hair.

Callum felt her relaxing at his touch, glad to see she was beginning to drop the topic. After a few moments of quiet, he asked, "Are you tired enough for an actual nap, Em?"

Emmalia just nodded slightly and gave him a slight squeeze. She was already half asleep. Though she rarely needed it, do had slept the night before, she was still catching up after the stress of losing him.

Callum nodded and didn't move an inch as he waited for her to fall asleep. Callum wasn't too tired, but he knew she deserved it, and that he was soon follow after enough time had passed. He simply enjoyed the time with her while she was awake, and would nap with her when she was asleep.

An hour later, Emmalia woke from the cat nap and nuzzled against Callum's neck. "Sorry I fell asleep, Cal...." Her mind blanked after that, though. She could hear his heartbeat, hear his blood rushing through his arteries in his neck, which was so temptingly close to her mouth....

Callum slowly woke with her, although he hadn't been in much more than a light rest. He could tell something was somewhat odd about her, as she stared at him like he was a juicy steak. "Are you alright, Emma...?"

Emmalia looked him in the eyes for a moment, then scrambled out of the bed and started pulling on her clothes. "I-I'm gonna go, I have to leave, I'll be back soon, and hour at most, I swear!" She babbled quickly.

Callum sat up and raised an eyebrow as he watched her frantically get dressed. "Emmalia, what's wrong? What's going on?" He grabbed a few articles of clothing and put them on before approaching her.

Emmalia shook her head. "Nothing, I'm just going to leave, I'm just hungry, that's it." She didn't want to tell him that she didn't even really feel hungry, but anything was enough to set her off now. You're safe to be around, why rush out? That wasn't the voice of reason in her head, but the voice of instinct. Fuck off, you're trying to make me slip up.

Callum wasn't sure how to argue with that. He didn't want her to leave, but obviously she had to feed at some point. "Don't be gone too long okay?" He wasn't sure what was making her so hasty, but he figured she had her reasons, and he trusted her.

Emmalia nodded rapidly and ran out of the room. She took the route that she knew would have the least people until she got outside of the castle walls and paused to sniff. All she could do was smell the humans inside - someone had cut their hand in the kitchen, too. That's easy, no hunting involved, just grab some and get back to Callum... No, no, bad, got to find a rabbit or something....

Hunting wasn't easy when she was so distracted, but when she finally did catch a rabbit and bit into it, the moment she tasted the blood she started violently vomitting.

Callum had anxiously awaited Emmalia's return, since her departure was so sudden and quick. He hoped nothing was wrong, at least not in the sense that she couldn't tell him about it. He decided to eat while she was away, and waited in the library for her return.

When Emmalia did return, she was shivering, and looked paler than normal. She felt ill, and it showed as she went over to his chair and sat on the floor next to it, with her knees pulled up to her chest and her arms around her knees.

Callum watched her silently as she entered, not wanting to interrupt whatever trance she was in for a moment. He soon got up, however, and went to her side. "Emmalia, what's going on? What's been bothering you?"

Emmalia quietly said, "I told you... I drank human blood. Now I have to readjust to animal blood. It's hard, 's all." She didn't seem to be wholy responsive; she didn't even look at him.

Callum didn't like the way she was acting, and hoped he'd never have to see Emmalia like this again. "Is there any way I can help? Does anything quell the side effects of this?"

Emmalia shook her head. "No. I'm like an addict going cold-turkey. Only way to undo it is drink human blood, and I can't do that, long term it will make it worse. Right now, I'm ill, tired, irritable and overall miserable...."

Callum nodded his head and kissed her cheek. "If you want isolation, just ask, if it makes you that irritable. Or perhaps we could take a trip to that cabin in the woods you brought me too? There'd be less people there."

Emmalia leaned her head against him. "I don't know. Maybe that would be best, just you and me, but I don't want that isolation. There's ghosts here for you to see to, to practice on, and... I don't know." She leaned her head in against him shoulder and closed her eyes.
