Fantasy Generic Fantasy RP (CLOSED)

Emmalia had one book open, held above her lap where the cat lay. "No, not yet. You don't have to rush, Cal, it pays to be thorough with things like this." She couldn't tell if he was panicking and just trying to find information, or if he was just rushing because he didn't care.

"I'm not rushing." He said in a rushed tone as he pushed aside a few books and grabbed some more from his pile. He had been feeling rather pressed for time to start his new 'job' since he figured that, at any moment, Death could simply kill him again if his work was unsatisfactory. He was scared of being away from Emmalia again, and he was freaking out at the thought of it.

Emmalia watched his frantic movements for a few moments before setting the cat down and getting up to move next to him and sit on the arm of his chair. "Callum, slow down. Nothing bad will happen if you just slow down."

"Yes there will be Emmalia." He said, stopping to turn and face her. "Look, the way they've been explaining it - I'm just... Afraid that I'll be taken away again. I don't want to be without you again. It was the only reason I still wanted to be alive."

Emmalia listened patiently, then reached out and brushed her fingers through his hair soothingly. "Love. It sounds like Death is an understanding entity. You're not quite back on your feet yet. And if you're scared about your position being revoked, go ask Daniel if it even can be, or if there are punishments. I'm scared of losing you too, but you can't be expected to run yourself down with this, you don't even know quite what you're doing yet."

Callum sighed softly and rested back in the chair. He closed his eyes and took a moment to breathe. "Listen, Em. I, uh... We're still... We're not quite..." Something had been on his mind ever since he had died, and it had been nagging at the back of his mind ever since he woke up in the cabin.

Emmalia cocked her head to the side curiously. What was he trying to say? "We're not...?" She had no clue what he could possibly mean.

Callum exhaled and have her hand a squeeze. "We're a... good... courting..." He began, obviously nervous. "We just... I think I know what I want, Emmalia. And it's to be wedded to you."

Emmalia looked at him in shock, then slowly smiled and leaned in to gently kiss his lips. She pulled away and softly said, "And I would like that very much, Cal." She picked up the book in his lap and closed it. "Do you see why this frantic search distresses me so? Seeing you panic like this, I can't stand it. I understand why, but... I love you unendingly, and this is madness.

"I know it's madness, but it's for you, Em. Everything I'm doing is for you. This castle, this life... I just want things to be good for you. You don't deserve some muddy, cranky knight. You deserve a king who can give you the world. This... reaping is the only thing keeping me here with you. It's unnerving."

Emmalia moved her hand to lay on his cheek, and looked him in the eyes. "I know, Cal, and I love you all the more for it, but I return that same sentiment. I just want to love you and take care of you, and.... I'm only here because I'm cursed, you're only with me on a deal with Death, but please, don't be hurting yourself. I can't protect you from yourself, my love...."

Callum sighed softly. He took a moment to think before continuing. "Emmalia... I think we should be wedded. I can't see myself with anyone else - alive or dead." It was a bit informal, but he didn't care. It was his thoughts and he felt like he'd implode if he kept it in any longer.

"Of course, love," Em said tenderly. "Whenever you want. Just stop pushing yourself, okay? It sounds like this job will just come to you, so stop stressing to bad." She leaned in to kiss his forehead, then added, "As for marriage, pick the date and place... but it can't be in a Holy church, me being... what I am."

"Of course not, wasn't planning on it." HE smiled and raised an eyebrow. "Well that's kind of ironic. Marriage is built upon the foundations of the church-" He stopped himself and laughed. "Well either way, we're not exactly normal for a couple. I'll give you the best damn wedding of your life."

Emmalia smiled and gave him another kiss. "The only one I'll ever need, too." She held his book out to him again. "First things first, though. Read. Skim it. But don't panic."

Callum nodded his head and brought her down for a gentle kiss. He held her there for a moment before pulling away and beginning to skim through the book. Without taking his eyes from the pages, he asked, "Does this make us engaged?"

"I believe so," Emmalia giggled. "We can have Camilla make my white dress too." She leaned in just enough to look at the book in his lap as he flipped through it

Callum smiled at the thought. "I'll send a message for her to visit soon, then." He smiled and kissed her cheek. "Hey, I don't know about you but, I think that you're right - we should take a break from these books."

"A break? Well, sure. We have to see what they have eventually, but a break might be good. What did you have in mind?" He couldn't be hungry again, could he?

"I didn't have anything in mind, just a break." He said innocently with a smile. "I'm rather tired however, and a nap could do me some good." He brought her in for a gentle kiss.

Emmalia returned the kiss, and while she had an inkling of an idea as to what he meant, she played coy. "A nap most certainly would, if you're feeling tired. Come on, let's go to bed for a bit, then we can attack these books with clear heads."

Callum nodded with a smile as he stood up, giving her a couple of short kisses before holding her hand and walking toward their quarters. "So, we're both undead now. Just another thing we have in common."

Emmalia shrugged casually. "One of us a little more than the other. Your heart continues at a normal rate, you eat normal food, you walk in sunlight without pain, me not so much." She shrugged lightly. "I might just get jealous of you, love."

"Get jealous of me, how so?" He asked. "Because of my dashing good looks and hospitable personality?" He joked, giving her hand a gentle squeeze.

"Because of your ability to eat food more than anything. Though, we know I can get drunk still!" She joked back.
