Fantasy Generic Fantasy RP (CLOSED)

Callum went with the rest to the graveyard that Emmalia had suggested, and scoured it for any signs of what they were looking for. It didn't take long for Callum to stumble onto an odd assortment of strange marks and melted candles around an altar of some sort. "Hey, could this be what we're looking for?" Callum called back to the rest.

When everyone was there, Daniel said, "That probably has something to do with it. Looks rather demonic, actually. Roy?"

Conroy stayed silent for a few moments, deep in thought, then finally spoke. "Well, the symbols roughly translate to commands and something relating to a combination spell, perhaps a binding spell, or somehow both. Could someone have bound a demon to a ghost...?" Conroy looked between Daniel and Callum. Daniel just shrugged.

Callum frowned at such a combination. "Well ghosts are basically just people that can't be seen. They're stuck in place from bad memories or improper burying. I suppose that's no different from some regular alive person. If a demon can be bound to a person, I don't see why it couldn't be attached to a ghost. That'd make sense why it disappears and reappears. Ghost don't normally interact with the world." Callum looked back at Roy to see if his answer was satisfactory.

"Could have corrupted the spirit, maybe. If someone's spirit was already bad enough, I don't see why not." Roy said. "Besides, a minding spell could be to anything, then it just combined."

Daniel said, "So... any ideas on how to deal with it?"

Jokingly, Roy said, "Holy fire and maybe a good smiting."

"Don't see why that wouldn't work." Callum added, although he knew they were joking. "I mean, I could try talking to it first and drive the ghost back to where it belongs like I normally do? At least see if that works at all."

"That's the problem. If a demon or something took control of it, it wouldn't have any reason to just disappear again when we show up. We'll probably need a way to trap it in place."

Callum nodded. "True. I just don't know enough about demons. It could do something unpredictable, since it's both a ghost and a demon. We won't know until we find it. Roy, do you know any kind of spells that'll keep it in one place?"

Roy sighed, then said, "Yeah, I've got a couple I could try. Need to find it in the first place, though, and I wouldn't doubt it would avoid us once it realizes our intent."

Daniel thought for a few minutes, then said, "Roy, a mage had to do this. Can you figure out the mage from the circle?"

"Daniel, do you know how much easier our jobs would be if I could do that? No, not unless they've tied themselves to it, which evidently, they haven't."

Maven looked at Roy and reached up, hitting him on the back of the head. "Stop being rude, prick."

Daniel ignored his companions, and said, "Okay, back to the drawing board. Is there anything ghosts are particularly attracted to?"

"Usually whatever killed them, or wherever they died. Which explains why it remains in this district, but that's too big of an area. They usually stay within a pretty close distance to where they died." Callum shrugged. "The weapon someone died with might be moving around the district."

Daniel nodded, then said slowly, "Demons are stuck with what they're tethered to, or whoever cast it. It could be following someone, actually. All of this is conjecture, we won't know until we find it."

Callum nodded for his response. He gave Emmalia's hand a squeeze before saying, "Well, we have some of the variables figured out, or at least contained to a few possibilities. Let's go try and find this thing and maybe it'll fill in the missing spots."

It didn't take long for them to encounter the ghost once night fell. They heard a scream, and ran to the location, finding a young woman facing a lady with wings, claws, and black blood dripping from her eyes. Emmalia, being sensitive to dark magic, stayed slightly behind Callum, as the thing made her feel uncomfortable.

Callum had his sword ready in his hand, standing protectively in front of Emmalia when she moved behind him slightly. "Alright, remember, try to tame it passively first. Protect the girl and try and get the monster trapped somehow."

Roy had already put up a shield around the spirit, one he figured would work effectively to keep it in place. The girl ran, but the thing was more focused on Callum. It seemed to just stare at him, expecting something.

Callum wasn't very sure how to handle the actual talking, since it was a spirit with a demon. "Uh, hi." He said to the monster, stepping closer. "I'm Cal, and I'm here to help you."

The thing just stared at him, then looked to Daniel, then Emmalia. It looked back at Cal and scowled, then gestured and his sword went from his scabbard to the ground between them. It didn't like that he was armed.

Callum held his hands up to show he had no intent to harm, and knocked his sword back a bit. "Not here to hurt you." He said again to ensure it. Cal stepped closer again, within a few meters now.

The spirit stared a bit longer, then demanded, "Fix it. Make it go away." Its voice was distorted and rough, but thw words were clear, even if the morning wasn't. It wanted the demon gone.

Callum nodded in agreement. "See? We want the same thing. I'm not sure how else I can get rid of the demon without sending you to where you belong. All I know is, you're not supposed to stay here. Maybe if you leave, the demon will too?"

It growled and gestured, shoving Callum back. "I. Can't." Was all it said. As long as the demon was stuck to the spirit, it couldn't leave.

Callum looked back at Em, partially so she knew he handle the situation, but also because he wanted to see how far back she was. If it started attacking, the last thing he'd want is Emmalia to get stuck in it. "Alright, so work with me. We've got spirit experts and demon experts here. Help us help you."

All it said was "Fix it!" In its anger it radiated a dark aura, and seemed ready to attack.

Daniel stepped in. "Okay, we'll fix it. We can destroy the ritual circle we found. Can you tell us who brought the demon here?"

The spirit shook its head.

"Alright. We will break the spell of binding and fight the demon. One step at a time," Daniel said.

Callum nodded his head in agreement. "We'll fix it, just don't worry and try and keep the demon tame." Cal turned to Daniel. "Destroy that rune. Let's hope the demon isn't too unfriendly."
