"Should I go with you or stay here?" Callum asked. "I don't know if I'd be any help going with you, plus I should be here if it gets hostile."

"Stay," Daniel said. "Watch it carefully. Ill stay too, the demon is connected to the spirit and may just attack immediately."

However, as Roy and Maven left to go to the cemetery, the spirit silently followed them, seeming to want to stay close to whatever was being done to help it.

Cal went after the demon, making sure to grab his sword on the way. Every now and then he'd give a glance to Daniel, partially to see how invested he was in the plan they had put together. "What do we do if it gets hostile?" He asked him quietly.

Daniel shrugged. "My best guess is have Roy zap it. But it honestly seems to want the demon gone. And the demon probably doesnt like being stuck either."

Conroy got the the circle they had found and started taking the spell apart with Maven's assistance. The spirit watched solemnly, patiently. When the spell broke, the black blood, horns, and claws fadedbfrom the spirit, and it was just a young girl that only Callum could see now. Next to it was a whisp of dark smoke in the vague shape of a man. Daniel drew his sword, but the shape just held up a single hand in a gesture of peace, then faded, willingly retreating to hell.

The spirit looked at Callum with a soft smile. "Thank you so much. That mage tied the demon to me. It got hard to tell who was who, and when I got frustrated, the demon did too and would attack."

Callum figured he probably looked mad, but he got onto one knee and smiled down at the ghost girl. "Of course. Do you have any idea who the mage was, or where he could be?" His voice was soft and more gentle than it normally was.

She shrugged. "I don't know. He always hangs around here at night, though, an hour before sunrise. He probably will be here again, tonight," she said, her voice soft and innocent.

Callum nodded slowly, attempting to put a hand on her shoulder for comfort, but made sure to stop before his hand passed through her. "Thank you. I'll make sure to have the mage pay for what he did to you." After a moment of silence, he replied, "Did the mage kill you?"

The girl shook her head. "No, I just got really sick."

Emmalia watched Callum with a soft smile on her face. She liked seeing how gentle he could be, even if she didn't see the girl.

Callum nodded his head. He wouldn't press the girl any further unless it was necessary to send her back. "Do you think you could move on from this place? Onto better things?"

Callum was almost shocked that she didn't just wisp away then. All ghosts he had met in the past seemed to know how to just move on to the afterlife. "Of course you can." He said, hoping that would work. He still want very used to be a dead man who talked to ghosts, but he felt he was getting better.

The girl smiled and said, "Thank you!" then disappeared.

Em was watching Callum closely. She liked it when he was so soft and gentle.

Callum looked down at the spot where the girl had been before, lost in thought for a bit before slowly rising to his feet. He then turned to Emmalia and the others, and said, "That was a better resolution than I expected."

Emmalia said, "What happened? Is she gone? Is the demon gone for good?" She didn't know what had transpired, but she could guess.

Callum nodded in response to the first question. "The ghost is gone, yeah. I'm not sure about the demon but I'm sure it won't come back willingly. Do we know where the mage could be?"

Roy shrugged. "No. But I'll find him, no need to fret." He grinned, and Maven smacked him.

"Conroy, don't you dare," she warned him.

"Tell me it's wrong," he replied.

Daniel put a hand over his face. "Roy, we are not burning anyone alive. Or shocking them to death. Or torturing anyone."

Roy frowned. "Well, it would save you and Lord Cross the work."

Callum was almost taken back when Roy called him Lord Cross. It almost left his mind that he was a Lord, and that Emmalia was his lady. "What do you think, Em?"

Em shrugged. "I mean, I would like a piece of the mage too, considering what he did to a poor child's ghost, but at the same time, if Roy wants to give the mage a taste of Hell, well... I will not stop him."

Daniel said, "Please don't encourage his behavior."

Em looked at Callum. "Do you want to personally kill the mage?

"It doesn't matter to me. The mage needs to die before he gets another ghost or demon. The girl is freed now, and I'd rather end this now than get personal revenge."

Daniel scowled, at nobody in particular, and said, "Roy... Don't let it be traceable."

Conroy grinned, and Maven hit both of her men. "How can you allow this?"

Daniel shook his head. "Roy can find and kill him faster than any of us, and you know it Maven. I don't encourage this kind of behavior, but its getting late in the day and we can't risk this happening again."

Maven sighed and looked at Roy, then said, "If I found out you tortured him, I'll get my own room at the inn."

Conroy rolled his eyes. "Fine. I'll make it look like a house fire. Easy. Now, go."

Callum raised an eyebrow, watching the other group interact. Quietly, he whispered, "Your friends are interesting," As he gave her hand a squeeze. Then, a bit louder he added, "What should we do?"

Conroy shrugged and said, "Go back to the inn and make an alibi for me. And rest. You're both still recovering from the Order's attack. "

Callum nodded slowly. He would've argued to help out more, but Emmalia wouldn't go back without him, and he wanted her to get as much rest as she could. "Ready, Em?"

Em took his hand and nodded.

Maven gave Roy one more warning, then they all headed back to the inn. Later Conroy joined them, and he was given a flawless alibi.

As the night went on, Em had two glasses of wine and seemed to get tired early. She kept wiping her hand over the scar on her face like it was bothering her.
