Em laughed, glad that he could make light of the loss of his finger. "Well, you certainly have a long time to get used to that!" After a moment, she added, "WIthin the next ten years half the healers in Trulane will know I'm a vampire and just all be overpaid to keep it a secret."

"Well who knows, by then maybe the healers will spread word. They'll talk about how amazing you are, and how wonderful you are, and how kind you are. And everyone will see, you, as an example, that not all vampires are bad." He kissed Em's head with a hint of a smile. "If anyone knows that much, it's me."

"Mhm." She couldn't help but think of when that poison had gotten to his head and he had wanted to kill her. "Well there are still people who would be happy to be angry at me for being a vampire and nothing else. But we can see what happens, we have years to see the change."

"And who cares what they think anyway!" Callum exclaimed. "If no one else wants you, then I'm fine having you all to myself. We can go be simple farmers at the end of the world and let nothing bother us but our own crops."

Em chuckled and leaned her head in against his chest. "Ah, but we are people of adventure, I doubt that would satisfy either of us for long."

"Well, we can plant our crops on different parts of a steep mountain! That'd be interesting." Callum offered with a smile, knowing neither of them would settle for it. "The only thing missing from the picture is..." His voice trailed off. "The kid."

Em lowered her eyes, knowing she was at fault for that. She had never wanted a kid, but it wasn't like she could even argue her point. There was no chance of them ever being able to have a child, and on one hand that relieved her, but on the other it made her feel terribly insufficient because just mentioning it in the slightest always upset Callum so much. She set her cider aside and wrapped her arms around his neck. "I'm sorry, love...."

Callum remained somber for a moment as he reflected on himself and his life so far. Once coming up with a satisfying conclusion, he kissed Emmalia's head gently. "Don't worry at all about it, love. I have you, and that's all I need."

Em smiled slightly. Normally it took him a while to feel better after he got upset about the child problem. She pulled back and hesitantly asked, "Really...?" She couldnt help but keep shyly smiling, almost like she was scared he would say no.

"You're all I've needed for this long. I don't doubt it'll stay that way for a long time, if not forever." Callum gave Emmalia a smile and admired her silently for a bit. Once he had taken in her beauty, as he normally did when they talked, he continued. "Don't feel obligated to do or say anything for me to feel happy. You just need to be yourself."

Em smiled and hugged him tightly. "Thank you, Cal. I love you." She hoped this talk would prevent any more issues about not having children in the future.

Callum smiled and returned the embrace. "Of course, love." He said, keeping the hug for a bit before falling back on the bed with Em in his arms still. He sighed softly and smiled up at her. "I'm sorry I get into... moods, like that. I promise it won't happen again."

Callum smiled softly, keeping his arms around Emmalia. "You're the best thing to ever happen to me." Cal brought her into a gentle kiss.

"And you're the best thing to happen to me." She kissed him back. She pulled away and said, "You're the only thing that matters to me."

"Well, at least we agree on that." Cal chuckled. He brought a hand up to gently move a strand of hair away from Emmalia's face. "I would still be under my father's- under Gallium's clutches if it weren't for you. I'd be married off to some other noble lady, given a piece of land and told to spent my days learning to be a warlord. I'd die at the age of 33 from a drinking problem, and no one would ever care for me."

"And without you I would still be wandering about, scared and acting utterly emotionless, which we both know I'm not." She kissed him. "I could even be dead by now. We don't know." She kissed him again. "But I don't want to ponder on it. We're here now."

Callum nodded and enjoyed every kiss Emmalia gave him. Although, something was still tugging at his thoughts. "Emmalia?" He asked after the last kiss, pulling his lips away. "Am... Am I like Gallium? Am I a bad person, and I don't even realize it?"

Em pulled away and looked at him with concern. "Absolutely now. Cal, there's times that I think you may make bad choices or act a touch prideful, but you're a good person. If this is about how you were manipulated by that ghost, you were just trying to do your best, Cal." She kissed him one last time, then softly said, "Believe me, you are a good man."

Callum found comfort in Emmalia's words. They weren't overly done, but they left no question in his mind. "Thank you, Em." Cal brought her into a kiss of his own. "I can't thank you enough for everything you've done for me."

Callum didn't have any of the blankets on, but Emmalia's warmth was enough to have him doze off for a bit. He enjoyed her embrace for every moment he was awake, and dreamt about her once he fell asleep.

Em stayed awake longer, and pulled up a blanket over them both, then nuzzled against him, kissing him lightly until she fell asleep too.

Callum would've managed to stay asleep well into the next evening from the comfortable way he was nestled under Emmalia and the blankets. Of course, they had a job to do, so they each managed to get dressed in their usual attire before going downstairs to meet the others.

They were greeted by Daniel, Maven, and Conroy. The search picked up almost immediately, with the group finding little new information. Emmalia suggested that they go to a graveyard to see if the thing would appear if, perhaps, they were in specifically a place of burial.
