Fantasy Generic Fantasy RP (CLOSED)

"They can manipulate the world around them if they put a lot of effort into it. The stronger the ghost, the more it can do. Could explain why it just disappears, but people can't see ghosts."

Daniel nodded. "The King didn't say it couldn't be seen, but he didn't say it could be. I think we just need to go and check for ourselves."

Callum nodded. "Agreed. Do we know how large the district is?" He asked as they began to make their way for the district. "If it's large than we might need to break off into teams."

Daniel shook his head. "It isn't that big at all, there's one in and one bunkhouse in the whole district. We can all stay at the inn, it will definitely not be crowded, I guarantee. Especially if weird stuff is happening."

Callum nodded in agreement. "Sounds fine to me. Should we get started today or wait until tomorrow? I don't want Emmalia straining herself." Sure, Callum knew he was also in the same condition she was, but he cared less for himself than Emmalia. He needed her, and he couldn't imagine so much as exhausting her.

Em looked at him, knowing he was also recovering as much as she was. "Let's get to the inn and see where that takes us, okay? If its just talking with the innkeep, then so be it."

"We go at your pace, if that's what you want, we'll do it," Daniel said evenly.

Callum nodded as they walked. "Thank you." He said, giving Emmalia's hand a gentle squeeze. It didn't take them long to get to the district and eventually the inn, with Callum walking inside first. "I guess you were right, this place is dead." He said, looking at the three or four other people at the inn, two of them being workers.

Daniel nodded. "More so than usual. No surprise there, of course."

The innkeeper recognized Daniel, and immediately started speaking about some monstrosity. Daniel calmed the man and said, "Can you tell us anything specific? Does it have a human shape? Does it hurt people?"

The innkeep said, "It looks like a person, but it is angry, and it hurts people and breaks property randomly."

"It hasn't killed anyone yet, has it?" Callum asked, stepping forward to be parallel with Daniel. "Did it just look like a normal person? Maybe slightly see-through?"

"I wouldn't say it looked like a normal person - it has black dripping from its eyes, horns, and a mouth full of huge fangs. Nothing see-through about it, but then it kinda fades and walks through a wall, and you can't find it outside," the innkeep said.

Callum frowned a bit. "Can't be a ghost then," He muttered to himself. "I suppose our resident monster specialist can help us out though. Thank you for your time. When was it last seen, do you know?"

Callum nodded. "Your judgement is better than mine. How do we fight banshees?" He asked, once more stepping subconsciously closer to Emmalia protectively.

Em shrugged. "Blessed stakes, silver, spells, but banshees are almost always in packs and confined to a graveyard. And to my knowledge they can't really affect the physical world."

"I suppose we should check near the temples then? Should be a small enough area that we won't need to split up. We can figure out what it is and prepare when we tackle it again."

After a quick examination of the area and speaking to locals, it was determined that the thing seemed to have free roam, which sent the group back to the drawing board, but as it was late and Em and Cal were still recovering, they all retired early.

Em walked into the bedroom with two mugs of warm cider and carefully held one out to Callum. "The nights are getting really chilly."

Callum nodded in agreement and accepted the mug thankfully, taking a sip. "Oh well. It just gives me one more excuse to stay close to you as often as I can be." He flashed a smile and offered Emmalia a seat beside him.

"You're right, I'm a lord. I take what I want." Callum joked with a light chuckle, pulling her in close with his free hand, sipping his drink. "You're my best friend, Emmalia."

Em leaned her head back on Callum's shoulder. "No need to take what I freely give you." She kissed his cheek lightly, then said, "And you're my best friend, Cal."

Callum remained silent for a bit, enjoying Emmalia's warmth that she radiated while drinking away. He thought of every last detail going on at the moment, savoring everything he could from their time together. "You know, it was the cold that brought you into my lap that first night we spent together, by the fire."

Em chuckled at the memory. That seemed so long ago, but it was hardly over a season ago. How time flew. "Yes, late spring chill and a fever. I was so miserable that I couldn't feel bad cuddling up to you." Just to emphasize how much had changed, yet how much was also similar, she crawled into his lap as before and laid her head on his chest.

Callum smiled warmly, making sure to keep his mug from slipping from his hand while she moved into his lap. "You're too adorable for you're own good. Men would go to war for you, just like they do in the dramas."

"Ah, luckily, I bring war to them." She chuckled, then said, "I didn't show vulnerability before I was shot in the back, remember?" She paused, then with a laugh, said, "I suppose that's getting to be a habit of mine!" referencing her more recent incident with being shot.

"Well, as long as you don't die, or continue the habit, I suppose you're not doing to bad for someone who's been through what you've been through." Cal flashed a smile. "Just like how I need to get into the habit of counting by intervals of 9 now."
