Callum sighed softly and crossed his arms. "Has anyone thought to have their children sleep with them for the time being do this doesn't continue? At least without a fight?"

The innkeeper shrugged. "Definitely not the parents of those girls. Some people are still holding out on the hope that they're alive, but I doubt it."

Emmalia nodded and thanked the innkeeper. They walked out on the street, quietly discussing possibilities. Suddenly, a man dressed in rags approached them. "You's the ones lookin for tho' girls?"

Callum's hand instinctively went for the hilt of his sword, and he subconsciously stood slightly in front of Emmalia protectively. "Possibly. Who's asking?"

"Jus' a concerned citizen. And a starvin' citizen. Help me out, and I'll help you out." He held out his hand, and Emmalia tossed him a silver coin. Thankfully, she was still wearing her gloves like she always did now, so the silver didn't bother her.
"Thank ya' miss. I saw some of those missing girls walking down the streets in the early mornin', before the sun rose. They was still dressed in they nightdresses."

"Which way did they go? Did you follow them?" Callum asked, letting go of his sword and easing a bit. "Any information will be handsomely rewarded."

"Well I'll take the reward, but what I say won't be truth. I've seen this before, girls go missing, monsters start showing up, there's a battle for the city, then all that's left for me is rubble. I'd prefer that didn't happen here," the beggar said.

Callum frowned a bit but decided not to ask much about his past. "Well, thank you for your help. Should you cone across any more information, we'll reward you for it."

The beggar nodded and walked away.

Emmalia sighed heavily and said, "I hate it when beggars are right. Typically, young girls go missing, demons get summoned, and all Hell breaks loose."

Callum nodded his head. "I wish he weren't. But at least he gave us some information. At least we have somewhat of a lead. They weren't taken from their rooms, they left willingly."

Em looked up at him with concern and said, "Unless it's one of those ghosts you mentioned." That thought didn't make her comfortable - who knew how much damage could be done by an angry ghost? She wasn't equipped to deal with a ghost, only Callum was, and this seemed like a big job for just him, if that was truly the problem. Could silver hurt a ghost? She didn't suppose it did. Perhaps if it was angry she'd feel it, like she did with dark magic? That would be an advantage....

"Perhaps. I'm not very sure though, could be something else. Maybe instead of kidnapping, they were lured away? Like a candy trail almost. I want ghosts to be the last thing on our list - let's rule out all other options first."

"Yeah, but after the first girl or two? I doubt it. That's what if looks like, though. It's strange, and I don't like it." Emmalia sighed. "I can't think how these girls agreed to just leave. Perhaps someone threatened them, that if they didn't leave they'd kill their families? But that still doesn't seem to fit right...."

"Right now we're caught at a crossroads. I say we look for more clues before we trying to piece it together. I'd really hate to get the hypothesis wrong on something like this."

"Very true. Not only are those girls missing, but more could very well follow them. Not to mention, whoever took them does not mean well."

"I think we can agree that we should keep looking further into this. So, let's." Callum kissed her head, then said, "We need to find another lead. Someone who could know something. A graveyard shift guard perhaps?"

"Maybe. The beggar said they were still in nightdresses, they probably stood out a lot. Let's check with the Guards, see if any saw them while patrolling."

Callum nodded and began to walk with Emmalia down the steets, until they found themselves at the guards barracks. When approaching a guard, he showed his simbol to let the man know he was a warlord. "Hello, we were stopping by and wondering if you or your fellow guards have seen anything strange recently."

"Do you know what happened to them? See where they went?" Callum found it odd that no guards had seen anything. "Do you not have night patrols?

"We have night patrols, sure, but nobody saw anything. We even brought in one of the court mages for a truth spell, everyone was telling the truth." The guard seemed like he had had to say this a hundred or more times.

Callum tried thinking of any more questions but couldn't come up with any. "Thank you for your help. Keep us updated on this matter." Cal began to walk off with Emmalia. "Any ideas?"

Em shook her head. "No. This is strange. Perhaps the girls knew their routes and avoided the guards? But that just goes with the theory that they willingly left, and I don't like that theory."

Callum nodded his head. "I don't like how many signs of possession there are. This better be a very close coincidence." Callum ran a hand through his hair.

Callum chuckled at her pet name for him. "Oh come on, you and I both agree that Benjamin isn't nearly as cute as Lily Pad."
