Fantasy Game Over

Kishune said:
I can't allow this. it's not a RPG style Magic, more of a fantasy novel like RPG one. It doesn't fit here at least not in the beginning. as that be more of a spell.
I'd ask what the difference between "RPG style Magic" and "Fantasy Novel RPG style Magic" is other than two words, but... Alright. I'll just overhaul that entire scene.

[QUOTE="BEBE REXHA]The one where you had said to slow down , ( I came to talk to the three of you ) I just deleted it because every thing was just wrong about it .

Wouldn't your character be going by their username?

No you werent being pushy at all, I completely understand. Ive been in several that have died because of rpers abandoning it. I should be replying in no time as I am feeling a lot better.

@Ensig Sorry for taking so long I took a bit personal time late in the day yesterday.

Everything is good but...The amount of tomes though. I'm willing to let you have them but opening them all too soon. ^^;

Oh, don't worry. Riles won't be opening most of them for the time being. First, she'll need to test out the Magic she has currently, because she has the testing philosophy of 'One thing at a time'.

@Kishune

By the way, before I forget... What options does the Game Menu offer? Is it the classic sort of stuff (Inventory, Status/Equipment, Options, Skills/Magic/Spells, Logout (unavailable), Party, Friends, etc.)? It'd be nice to know exactly what's there, because I'd like to have Riles explain them all to Kushune in the next post.

Also on that note, do the Players' equipment offer status buffs viewable on something from the Game Menu? Like... Magic/Physical ATK +X, DEF +X, MP Usage for X Element -Y%, etc.? If so, are we coming up with the bonuses on our own?

I feel like this would make it much to complicated.

Those things are seen in essentially every MMORPG in existence, though. If our characters are to get better equipment in the future, establishing a baseline of Stats while everyone's still in the Gear they got when they created their characters is necessary... Unless we'll be working with 'This equipment blocks better than that last piece', which I'm against given the 'Detailed' tag on this RP.

It is, but this is a roleplay where everything would need to be computed by hand and I'm not in the mood to constantly by checking different numbers, percentages, and of the like.

Once again, 'Detailed'. It won't be all that hard, considering all it'll take is setting up a Table of sorts in a Private Workshop and modifying it whenever your character gets a new piece of gear (which won't be all that often, I'd think).

My concern with not implementing simple gaming elements like these is that it'll guarantee a bunch of asspulling when our characters have stronger abilities/equipment, something that irks me to no end. Stat systems make sure that people don't get to do whatever they want without adequate reason -- but rather are forced to take actions their character is capable of in the eyes of the world (i.e the Game). My concern over the fact that there isn't even a Stat system at all aside, establishing legitimate game-like elements while this RP is still in its infancy (even if said elements are really simple compared to most games) will be better for it in the long-term. Or so I think.

The menu will be like SAO's menu. I'll Go though it and give and explain each one. I'll use the image as a reference as it will technically be the same thing.

First button in the personal info, Skills/Spells, Magic, Equipment, and Items. Equipment branches out from there to Weapons, Armor, Accessories which are self explanatory, but does have a second window of where to place the equipment.

All items give off a brief description of itself and say what they do.

Second button is the members button. It lets you see the list of users in the current city, form a party, add a friend, or make a trade. All self explanatory.

Third is the communications. You can make PM to send to Players a long way away or privately communicate with party members (Though only if they are your friends), open messages that call out to everyone (Like a sign) so you don't have to repeat saying it.

Forth is the map. It gives the terrain of the area around them (The Overview pretty much), The locations of monsters but doesn't show whi it is exactly, and will pull up an arrow pointing in the direction of the mission selected.

Last is settings, which is useless as it doesn't open/is blank.

As for weapons getting stats themselves or buffs, I don't think so we don't have to do that, the weapons will have things like elemental damage to some and status effects others, but full on character affecting effects, no. I like to keep the RP some what simple. Cause if I was going to go that far I turn it into a Dice RP. Which I may in a far off reboot. ^^;

This RP is detail, but no so finely detailed to that extent. Weapons are going to be like costume gear in MMOs don't really change a thing other than how you use it. That for The RPers point of view btw. for the characters they can have that on the gear, but we as RPers have to include them.

Alright, got it. I'll make a post shortly.

Hey, you guys might have to skip me. I'm going out today and I have no idea what time I'll be back at.

@Kishune

My post is done, but I have a final set of questions before I release it:

What's the rate of MP regeneration:

  1. In Town?
  2. In the Field?
  3. While Resting?

Or is this one of those "MP doesn't regenerate unless you Meditate or drink an MP Pot" sort of games?

I'm wondering because I don't know whether I should keep Riles' MP at 70% in the post, or whether it should have regenerated a bit.

MP restoration is rather slow, and if you want to keep track of it physically as a RPer every 3 posts is 1%, but that's up to you.

In towns it's faster

fields normally

Resting will speed it up out of battle.

But Items will be more effective though in the end.
