Fat Gandalf's Bar & Lounge (OOC chat) - Chapter Four

Not open for further replies.
Assuming that I can get a line of sight on the Wargoth, Mario will fire on it. If not, he will delay his action until it is in view.

And a miss. Insert offensive word of choice here.

With a course of action in hand, Mario will do an acrobatic tumble to the opposite side of the Gnerl that he ran behind, getting some good distance away from the burning wreck.

Let me be certain I understand - Mario is breaking (leaving) his heavy cover to hopefully find and blow away the wargoth?

(And what-the-face is up with these dice?!)

Correct. I was pulling back to get some room to keep the wargoth from getting on me quickly.

O.K. This likely puts Mario out of the wargoth's blast radius if he kills it, but at the cost of his cover against the Zeki Battle Pods.

Oh, right! Mario's Strike roll is a miss! So, Mario has delayed his action (or rather, he prepared his action to fire at it when it goes after him on the Beastmaster's turn).

So Mario's initiative remains the same... but now he is out in the open, and he will miss his shot, which leaves the wargoth free to attack him. And with the way the dice have been treating all of you...

Oh boy...

Psychie Psychie Go ahead with Toph's action.

For the sake of clarity, both Toph and Elinor are fully aware of Mario's position and situation.

I... don't know what else to say. I have never seen the dice act quite this badly.

O.K. Kaerri Kaerri Let's see what Elinor can do, and if the dice will let her do it.

All I know is I'm looking forward to the end of this round.

Purr Purr Does that mean it's Elinor's turn now? And is she in a position to see and hit the wargoth?

Kaerri Kaerri
1. Yep! =)
2. Elinor cannot see the wargoth yet, but like Toph and Mario, she can prepare an action to fire on it when it goes on its turn and enters her line of sight.

Elinor is also delaying to shoot at the wargoth, but I'd like those yellow offline dice, please. ^;3^

Can't blame you! Here goes!

d20 roll = 5
GU-11 damage (if it hits) = 20 M.D. (I rolled snake eyes!)

And the critters dodge roll is...
19.

It's a miss...

Good grief! Thanks for trying everyone. Mario's tank is in good shape, so I should be able to take the hit.

...so I should be able to take the hit.

That's what you think... Heh heh heh...

O.K., I just put that in there to be creepy and silly at the same time. Just Kidding! =)

Heya Gang! Read the in-game post then the spoiler, please. =)

Mario's baddies fire on him without his benefit of cover.
The Battle Pods have Strike totals of... 19, 1! (about time! Backed by a 2! It's a fumble! Ohhhh! He rolls... 88/100! That result means...

"88-89 - Attacker knocked colder. Trip and fall or otherwise suffer a bad hit or jolt. No saving throw. Attacker is knocked out cold for 1D6 melee rounds (15-90 seconds) unless revived by another player (reviving the attacker requires a successful First Aid roll or the like)."

The other four have Strike rolls of... 1! (Jeez! Backed by a... 18. Miss!), 15, 25, and 23! What wild ride!

-Psychie! That wargoth-missile has a Strike of 17 on Toph.

-Kaerri! The Beastmaster's plasma pistol Strike total is... 27! Yow...

Initiative order (End of Action #4 - enemies are 900 feet away):
Mario: 25 (!!) (Battloid mode - Mario Zuko is out in the open. Fired on wargoth-missile and missed. )
Toph: 18 (Battloid mode - Fired on wargoth-missile and missed.)
Elinor and Cera: 13 (Guardian mode - Fired on wargoth-missile and missed. And for the first time evar in this game, I've written the same action description for all of the PCs... Cera used her action to destroy the wargoth-missile on Mario, but as a result, she cannot attempt to fire on the wargoth-missile now on Toph.

Whew! I think that's everything! You guys enjoying this battle as much as I am? =)

Elinor's teaching Cera new and unexpected things. XD "Jerk-face!"

Mario will brace himself for the hit and attempt a parry with his right shield.

Total of a 30 to Parry, and the 40% roll to maintain balance is successful.

Kaerri Kaerri Kaerri, Elinor could use a Dodge roll, please. =)

As for Elinor teaching Cera, she sure is, isn't she? Ha ha! =)

Oh right >.> Distracted by new Dark Theme!

Under the assumption, per our offline conversation that Elinor's fumble doesn't affect dice rolls, that she still gets her Automatic Dodge and dodge-while-flying bonus, despite being technically on the ground. (The ground bonus would be +13 instead of +15.)

...ouch, either way.

Your assumption is correct - as we discussed last night, Elinor's Valkyrie still benefits from automatic dodge. Still, the Beastmaster's Strike total of 27 beats Elinor's defense role of 23.

This was shared with me just today, and seems appropriate... (sharing in Sharseya too for Wolf)

Looks like my best course of action is to try and shoot down the wargoth-missile aimed at me. Lets give it a shot! (See what I did there? Give it a shot? Ha!)

Ok, I'm done with this die roller. Purr Purr , can you please roll for me for a while? I'd like white dice please.

After watching that very funny video Kaerri just posted and then reading Psychie saying,

Ok, I'm done with this die roller. Purr Purr , can you please roll for me for a while? I'd like white dice please.
(bold mine)

I just laughed out loud!

Psychie Psychie Consider it done. Keep in mind, Kaerri's last roll on my yellow d20 was a 5, but one could argue that at least that had a chance at success! My white dice are at your disposal. =)

That last line of the video just "kills" me! Thanks, Kaerri!

Oh, and very "punny" there, Psychie! =)

Okies. Time for some damage updates and Shop Talk.

Mario's Parry roll is a 30, which is higher than anything the Battle Pods had, so his Maintain Balance roll is not needed (and had, say, all 4 hit, I'd need a Maintain Balance roll for each). Thanks for being efficient and adding it, though; the more rolls we have in advance, the less I have to ask and wait for.

So... 4 of those 6 shots are successfully parried by his shields and do not blast his Main Body. Sherwood, since these are 4 dual-particle beam attacks coming from 4 different targets, Mario can distribute each of the 4 blasts to whichever shields he wants (he just can't, say, take one big blast like, say, a wargoth-missile, and divide it between the shields).

The Zeki-Zentraedi hit for...
#1 - 70 M.D.
#2 - 50 M.D.
#3 - 60 M.D.
#4 - 70 M.D.

Psychie, the wargoth-missile has attached to her Ajax as its action. As my in-game post implies, it looks like it will be heading toward Toph's cockpit on its round next action. Anyone but Toph attacking the thing must do so with a Called Shot (-2 to Strike). A miss on the Called Shot introduces the chance that the shot strikes Toph's Ajax (since the damn thing is actually crawling across the surface of her hull).

Kaerri, Elinor has no such die-rolling to worry about; the triple-blast from the Beastmaster's plasma pistol.strikes for... *rolls* yow! 100 Mega-damage!

Shop Talk

Now, since it's Action 5 of Round 1, I want everyone to be on the same page concerning how many attacks per round your characters have left for Round 1. Correct me if my math is wrong, please. =)

Mario has 2 actions left out of 8 (he attacked 4 times and dodged 2 times).
Toph has 2 actions left out of 7 (she attacked 4 times and tried to shoot down the incoming wargoth-missile).
Elinor has 2 actions left out of 6 attacks per round (she attacked 4 times).

Did I miss anything?

Side note: When I entitled this chapter, "High Stakes," I didn't know how then how the dice would be rolling for you, but now that I do, I can't help but think the title is quite fitting, don't you?

Initiative order (Beginning of Action #5, Round 1 - enemies are 900 feet away)
Mario: 25 (!!) (Battloid mode - is out in the open.)
Toph: 18 (Battloid mode - has a wargoth-missile attached to her Ajax's Main Body.)
Elinor and Cera: 13 (Guardian mode - just nailed by the Beastmaster's plasma pistol.)
