Fat Gandalf's Bar & Lounge (OOC chat) - Chapter Four

While it won't harm your enemies in the least, there is wisdom in temporarily "turtling" when you have six warriors trying to atomize you. On his turn, if you decide to have Mario go "full defense" and not fire, I will add a bonus to his defense as he uses the cover from the toppled Gnerl to his best advantage.

Kaerri Kaerri "Calling all Kaerries! Calling all Kaerries! Now hear this! The U.S.S. Elly Nor is ready for departure and awaiting your command! That is all." *insert warbling trumpet fanfare here* =)

I am totally ruling "Kaerries" to be the proper plural form.

...uh-oh.

Jeez! The dice gods are seriously angry with us. Quick! Everyone go sacrifice a goat or something to make them happy again!

Spare the goats because I have an alternative - if any of you want me to roll the dice for you again, just tell me. Choose a color. There is a picture of them in Shop Talk.

You guys can go back and forth from real dice to the dice roller as you please.

In the meantime, Kaerri, please roll another d20 and roll a 6 or higher to avoid a fumble. If you roll a 1-5, then follow it up with a percentile roll, please.

As always, good luck!

I like goats. Can I sacrifice an alligator instead? ^;3^

Edit: the alligator seems to have been rejected... Can I get yellow GM dice for Elinor please?

Unbelievable...

Yellow it is. If or when you want to change back to RpN's dice roller, let me know.

Kaerri Kaerri If memory serves, Psychie rolled this same result (or one very close to it). Per Fumbles in Shop Talk:

"75-79 - Attacker possibly stunned. Slip or suffer a hit or jolt and look dumb doing it; Save vs. Pain (DC 14 or higher, P.E. bonuses apply), or fall and be stunned for 1D4 attacks."

So we need a d20 rolled here. My yellow d20 is ready to go, but did you want to use or forego an Action Point? Whatever the case, it looks like Elinor's pride might take a hit...

If I am allowed to use an Action Point, I would like to. Stun would be bad in the middle of combat, especially a combat like this one! I say "if I am allowed" because Elinor just used one on her last dodge.

It is allowed. You have not used one this action. Your automatic dodge was for Elinor's previous action.

It is the rare d20 or d100 roll that Action Points won't benefit. Saving throws, Initiative, skill rolls - Action Points are just plain useful! =)

For Kaerri.

Rolling yellow d20. Result = 12
Rolling yellow d6. Result = 5
Total = 17 (without bonuses)! Elinor makes her saving throw vs. Pain! I will write up the in-game post when able. =)

Here is a technical question for you. If I use Mario's action to pop a smoke screen around his mecha, how long will it last before it dissipates given that we are indoors and there shouldn't be any high winds around to blow it away quickly?

Good thinking, Sherwood, but... before I answer that, would you please roll 2d100 here? There is something I want to know and I don't feel fair making the roll myself. =)

Thanks, Sherwood!

With Mario's education and skill selection (and those rolls), I think he'd know that Lord Dolza's Regult Battle Pods have infrared sensors, and while some are baffled by smoke, others are simply hindered. Down to... say... 1,000 feet or so. The Wild Cards's opponents are roughly 900 feet away, so Mario has to be farther away for his smoke canisters to be effective (unless they don't switch to infrared, which is unlikely).

In other words, you can try it but don't expect it to work for long at all.

Unfortunately, it doesn't quite work in reverse. If the Battle Pods pop smoke, Mario's VHT's thermograph sensor is his best bet to see through their screen - except it has an 800 foot range... Mrph.

Heya Gang! Read the in-game post then the spoiler, please. =)

O.K. Sherwood. Here it comes! Enjoy that heavy cover while it lasts! =)
The Battle Pods have Strike totals of... 18, 15, 20, (rolled a 3 = miss), 19, and 17.

Psychie! The Beastmaster, or rather the 10-round burst of mega-damage grenades he's launching at Toph have a total Strike roll of... 23.

Kaerri, looks like Elinor and Cera get a little breather this round. =)

After the die rolls get resolved, it'll be Mario's turn in Action #4!

Initiative order (End of Action #3 - enemies are 900 feet away):
Mario: 25 (!!) (Battloid mode - Mario Zuko now haz heavy cover behind the downed Gnerl fighter.)
Toph: 18 (Battloid mode - fired on Beastmaster with her missiles and hit for 100 M.D.C..)
Elinor and Cera: 13 (Guardian mode - Elinor fired GU-11 and fumbled. Cera is providing wargoth interference but effectively wasted her turn as the missile struck the Gnerl aerospace fighter.)

EDIT: Changed the incorrect "Round 3" and "Round 4" to the accurate "Action #3" and "Action #4".

Purr Purr , once you give the ok for Mario's action, what will the penalty to hit the Wargoth-missile-thing be? I want to blast it with my EU-11 before it can attach to me.

I gather it's still hopeful? Stay tuned, news at 11! (or whatever time Dannigan and/or Captain are able to post an update)

Good dodging, you two! And... I'm glad you had Mario take cover, Sherwood! =) And Sherwood? Go ahead and take Mario's action; I'll write in the dodging afterwards.

Purr Purr , once you give the ok for Mario's action, what will the penalty to hit the Wargoth-missile-thing be? I want to blast it with my EU-11 before it can attach to me.

That completely depends on Mario's course of action. Mario cannot yet see the bomb-laden wargoth (because it's not the wargoth's turn). But because of Cera's warning, he is aware that it is on the other side of the Gnerl somewhere, out of his line of sight. As you can imagine, this detracts from any attempts on its part to Prowl up and catch Mario by surprise (which, as you learned earlier in this battle, is a bad thing).

So... Mario has (at least) two options that I'm willing to reveal.
1. If Mario goes after the wargoth, uses his cover wisely, and gets the drop on it, he'll have a nice standard attack roll with no negatives attached.
2. If Mario stays put and the wargoth comes around where he can see it, he'll have a slight penalty (-2 to Strike) or worse, depending on who sees who first. However, Mario then takes the chance of being within the damned thing's big ol' blast radius if he does blow it up. Chances are his EU-11 will do that in one hit, maybe two if he rolls low on damage.
Option 3 is, as always, my favorite.
3. Anything you and your fellow players can reasonably come up with.

Note: Just be careful; those dodges, however necessary, are steadily eating up Mario's actions. Glad he studied martial arts! =)

Any word from Captain Hesperus about his hopeful return to the game?

Nothing yet. I will keep you posted if Cap'n doesn't beat me to it. =)
