Fat Gandalf's Bar & Lounge (OOC chat) - Chapter Four

Here is a question: With the new combat stuff you want to experiment with, just how much movement can I make without having to choose between attack and movement for my action? I would like to try and maneuver closer to the cover provided by the Gnerl fighter if I can without losing out on the attack.

He went back to bed, but I'm sure he'll answer when he gets back online ^33^

O.K., folks! Here are some answers. Yes, one can move and shoot, of course. Go back to my post at the start of the fight (post #179). What do you see there when it comes to taking additional cover in this hangar for this scene? =)

Ok, I'll move as far as I can towards the wreckage of the Gnerl, knowing that I'm still exposed for counter attack this round.

Another game mechanics question for ya. In the event of a successful Parry, can I split the damage between my two shields, or do I have to take the full effect of the attack(s) on just one?

I'm afraid not. It's one shield or another (largely because I have never seen anything in Palladium Robotech that states to the otherwise).

Despite the loss of a natural 20 (rats!), I am glad you're putting Mario into heavy cover. That Beastmaster wants Mario and Elinor dead and he's not being half-hearted about it...

We still need to drop the numbers of baddies down a bit. But if I end up dead in the process, that's not an option.

Sherwood, would you mind rewriting your last post to reflect your change in action? Then I'll post.

Initiative order (Round 3 - enemies are 900 feet away):
Mario: 25 (!!) (Battloid mode - Mario Zuko now haz heavy cover.)
Toph: 18 (Battloid mode - fired on Beastmaster with her ion cannon and hit for 30 M.D.C..)
Elinor and Cera: 13 (Guardian mode - Elinor fired GU-11 and missed. Cera is providing wargoth interference.)

It's Toph's turn!

(Reminder to myself to change Toph's color to green when I get home. My smart phone won't let me do it.)

Firing only three Plasma Minis on the BBEG, and using an Action Point to try and make sure I hit.

I don't recall if these missiles are +3 or +5, so my overall total will be 16 or 18, depending on the missile strike bonus

Only Reflex Missiles are +5 to hit. All other missiles (like every missile you have on your hardpoints) are +3. However... if you're in the mood, look up Shop Talk for a missile-related tip concerning accuracy. It might help in future battles. =)

I am more concerned with the big guy dropping a Chaff and blowing my missile hit right now. I'm hoping to walk that fine line between having him need to just dodge and hopefully I'll still hit and the need to use Chaff because he can't dodge and the attack would just do too much damage.

While I am not entirely what you are saying in the second sentence, I really do like listening to you think it all out. I like to think that players who put their minds into creating creative solutions are the players who have the most fun in games like mine. =)

Psychie, read in-game first.

Please roll for 3d6x10 Mega-Damage! You got him! 8D

No worries, Psychie! As fun as this is, this is a game not a job. =)

And listen to Toph telling off the Beastmaster! Woo! Hey, gang! Where did our peace-loving, Taoist-minded, pink-haired doctor go? Who is this in her place?

Ha ha ha! =)

Kaerri? Consider it Elinor's turn and let 'em have it! =)

A technical question for our illustrious Storyteller. With Mario's Advanced Electronic Warfare, how many systems can I effect at any one time? I am thinking that I may be able to scramble the Beastmaster's sensors enough to give him a negative on his rolls.

The possible problem with that is the Beastmaster is not wearing a helmet, and is still able to see and track on us with his grenade launcher. He may be eyeballing it, and your jamming wouldn't work.

True, but I'm trying to come up with a useable tactic besides my popgun of a Gun Pod until I can get back to using my main gun once more. I wish it could fire faster than just twice in a round.

Mario knows he can attempt to nail system at a time. However... the Veritech Hover Tank he is in just has a basic radio/radar setup with no ECM abilities whatsoever (I just looked it up again in Robotech The Masters Saga Sourcebook). He needs something like, say, the wing-mounted ECM pods fitted onto ASC aircraft or the like. The basic VHT-1A just isn't equipped to do this though its pilot certainly is.

After further looking into this, it also appears none of the VHT variants (the VHT-1J and VHT-1S) are equipped with ECM-capable gear. Their improvements are designed to buff and assist allies instead of foul-up their opponents. Hmm. Perhaps something else Mario might ask Cera to look into come more peaceful times?

Given that the Beastmaster appears to be not a soldier inside a power armor, but a creature merged with his power armor (that's not a suit he's wearing; that's actually him!) makes this unlikely. At least, that's what Toph's background and skills tell her. Other characters in the team might have different theories. Good thinking, though!

That makes two of us. I love the main gun on the VHT, but there is a part of me that cannot wait until later in the game, if you are able to put Cera into a position where she can do what she does best. Incoming silly "spoiler": Despite her Meltrandi-given desires to kill her opponents, fighting in a mech is not her mainstay! Poor lady! Ha ha! =)

Well, for now, I guess I'll save my actions for dodging and taunting the bad guys while I wait for next round.
