Outside of the washroom, Sophie would spot Clementine stopped at a spot of blood nearby. Clementine shared a look with Sophie. "I'm going to check the office. Are you okay here?"

The blood on the ground seemed to be streaked across the floor. It led to the Sporting Goods Store and the Cafe.

Café

Blood. The air smelled of copper, coupled with a worse, sickening smell. The trail of blood led right to a horrible sight. If not for the red liquid, one might think that the girl was sleeping, but something about her body felt undoubtedly off. She was lying there, motionless, stained in red.

Participant #29, Trixie, the Ultimate Magician, was dead.

The café looked mostly undisturbed. Blood pooled heavily around a nearby coffee machine.

Louise had stirred, awoken enough to respond to Claude's question. "...I think maybe - common areas first. If she was caught out after curfew-" She suddenly heard a commotion from the direction of the cafe, and her heart sunk. "...or that." She didn't feel all that sleepy anymore as she clumsily got to her feet. "C'mon, we need to go-"

Frank Zhang

Frank was on full-on panic mode as he yanked the door open… revealing only a probably-very-surprised Sunset. He didn’t even have the decency to apologize, instead checking the bathroom, before looking back at Sunset.

“Have you seen Trixie?”

Regardless of her answer, Franks would open his tablet to find the message from Pinkie. He quickly typed a response as fast as he could.

“Trixie isn’t up here. Tell the others to check below for her. -Frank Zhang”

Frank decided to text something similar to a few other people, just in case…. Faust, Marie, Stiles, Hamilton, and Clementine would all receive a message from him telling that Trixie wasn’t in her room.

Looking back at Sunset and Butters, Frank would gesture with his arm to follow him, before turning into a crow and flying back towards the elevator.

Stiles had managed to sleep through the day and came down to the mess. Having needed a moment to wash his face, he went to the south washroom and noticed the blood, following it, armed with his bat to the Sportings Good Store. " Somehow doubt this is going to end happily."

South Washroom

Pinkie quickly nodded at Sophie's order for her to stay, sinking to the floor of the washroom. There didn't seem to be any sign of blood in the rest of the washroom, so Pinkie was free to go wherever she wanted... besides the sink, of course. She seemed to shake her head in disagreement that Trixie's body would be somewhere, as if denying that she was dead, but her argument wouldn't suffice. Pinkie didn't even bother to speak out loud, now, with her knee still pinching terribly to cue that something terribly horrifying was about to happen.

When Sophie walked out of the room, Pinkie immediately pulled out her tablet to see if anyone replied to her texts. Nobody had yet... wait. Frank replied. Opening the MESSAGE app, she quickly read what he had sent her:

“Trixie isn’t up here. Tell the others to check below for her.
-Frank Zhang”

Pinkie slowed her breathing, typing the message with shaking fingers:

"sophei's looking 4 her. we'll findd her!!!1!!!
- P. Pie"
"Sophie's looking for her. We'll find her!"

Speaking of Sophie, she seemed to send a message moments after Pinkie sent a text back to Frank. Pinkie perked up, thinking that Sophie found Trixie alive somewhere. Why else would she text all of them? Filled with hope, Pinkie opened the text Sophie sent all of them, reading each of the words she sent them slowly. This was the message, after all, that told them it was all okay!

"trixis died shes in thea cafe"

Or not. Pinkie stared at this message for a few seconds, processing the information Sophie had just given all of them. Trixie... what? It was like time froze in on itself, and the only thing left still moving was her tablet, herself, and the blood in the sink. No. This... this wasn't happening!! Sophie was lying! Yes, this was all a game, and Sophie was lying to them all! It was a bad joke, but perhaps Sophie and Trixie were pranking them all! The... the "blood" in the sink was ketchup! Trixie disappearing was all an act! Pinkie replied quickly to the message Sophie sent, texting:

"haha where is she realy, sophie???
- P. Pie"
"Haha, where is she really, Sophie?"

Nobody here killed another. Nobody. The pinching sensation seemed to go away, signaling the scary event was here, but Pinkie denied this. She wouldn't believe it.

Claude Von Riegan

Ultimate Stratigist

Resteraunt

No sooner could he get his bearings together to start leaving the resteraunt, Claude found a text lit up on his device. Honestly, he was too much of a mess to really look at the thing but right now it was probably not just some silly check in message. His face just went blank as the worst had been confirmed. A body has been found and it was now time to investigate and find their first culprit. His hands were oddly trembling as he sent a quick message back - it was best to reassure Sophie that none of them were hurt. Especially since a girl labeled as TRAUMATIZED was seeing a body. Definately not something to help...

* We're on our way

He simply texted back before turning to the group, a serious expression on his face. "Everyone. Cafe. Now. And be ready to see a scene. Looks like we really CAN'T save everyone...." he told them simply. He walked ahead, not even waiting for his physical partner. It seems his natural leadership instincts of the war times had come to surface. Things had just reached an entirely new level with their first death having happened...

Cafe

On his way to the cafe, Claude braced himself for carnage. It wasn't like he hadn't seen or even been the one to cause bodies before but it never got any easier to see it. Just how would he find Trixie in there? How brutal did the murderer even get? After taking a breath to calm himself, he went into the cafe.

Brutal, though it could have been worse. At least she didn't seem to be dismembered or something crazy so that was a plus. But the blood was sickening. Judging by the path of blood, Claude seriously wondered if someone hadn't deliberately dragged Trixie here and left her to die. Afterall, the cafe was closed after 10. The rules would prohibit anyone from coming in to save her. He decided to make a note of this thought for now.

He glanced at Sophie before daring to approach Trixie's body, searching it for any clues of what may have happened to her. "I'm sorry. But someone has to do this. We might be missing some clues if we don't get up close and personal with it..." he stated.

Across the building, the monitors came on all at once for another announcement. Monokuma greeted the group once more, but this time for a very grim statement.

ma-png.964363

"A body has been discovered! Everyone, please gather in the Café! Why don't you grab a coffee while you're there?"

Café

Moments later, whether everyone had come or not, Monokuma appeared in the Café. He let out a laugh.

"A body! Who would've thought? Poor thing... but, I told everyone this would happen, didn't I?" Clementine arrived at the Cafe then and gave the bear a glare. Monokuma tilted his head back at her. "What's with the look? I'm sure you're all wondering what happens now... well, I'm here to give you some help!"

The bear pointed a paw at Sophie's tablet. "If you look at the list of rules, I've added a new one!"

Indeed, there was a new rule for #7.

Rule #7: The 'Body Discovery Announcement' will play when three or more students discover a body.

"And in order to to have a trial, there must be an investigation! Another app has been added!"

On the tablets a new application appeared called MONOKUMA FILE. Clicking on it would show Trixie's basic information such as her height and weight. According to the file, Trixie was killed via blunt force trauma to the head. She died in just a single blow. Aside from that... the file did not say much else.

"Useful, huh?" Monokuma said.

An examination of the body would not reveal much else about her death. She indeed had a wound at the back of her head. Possibly notable was the fact that Trixie's tablet was not on her. It had also not been in her room.

Sporting Goods Store

Stiles would find that the trail led right to a display of baseball bats and golfing clubs, though there was no blood on any of the bats or clubs themselves... of course, a few were missing.

Louise had rushed to catch up with Claude, although she paused on seeing the body, trying to force herself to be composed. This was happening. This was really happening. After a cursory inspection of the crime scene, she added, "...there might be evidence on the tablet. The killer - took it for a reason. Even if there is no message history - there might be an unread message, or other information that could be incriminating." She had calmed down slightly - this was a case, in need of evidence and a likely suspect to build it against, even though the overwhelming metallic smell in the air made her feel sick.

Sophie quickly saw the text from Pinkie. Her heart broke a little, seeing Pinkie so innocently denying Trixie's death. Pinkie was so innocent, she was horrified at the prospect of someone killing someone else, let alone the fact someone actually went through with it.

Sophie, with hesitation, opened the messaging app and responded to her with two words.

"im sorry"

She glanced up to see Claude kneeling and inspecting the body.

"I-it's fine... i-inspect her..." Sophie said. In spite of her current shaken state, Claude would be relieved to find out Sophie was relatively functioning.

Then, Monokuma came, and the whole spiel came together.

It was all confusing, but something stuck out to her.

"There was someone who found the body before me," Sophie said, "The rules say... that three people have to find the body... but... only I and Claude saw her... so... there must have been an accomplice, right?"

Stiles " The Ultimate Sarcasm" Stilinski

Stiles stared at the display of bats and golf clubs. " Well, it looks like there is definitely something missing from here," he replied, doing a count to see how many of the items were missing. Hadn't Frank had a whole bunch of sports equipment earlier? The Ultimate Sarcasm pushed that thought aside for now, examining his own bat to make sure nobody had tried to take it and there was no blood on it.

Stiles would shoot a quick text to everyone writing 'There are some bats and golf clubs missing from sporting goods right now, looks like it might be the murder weapon of choice. I did take one a few days ago, going to do a count right now and let you know how many are missing.'

“Eh- wha??? Was all this clothing here before? I don’t think so, little usa-chan….” Usagi chirps out loud upon entry to the daycare. The plush rabbit is just tossed to the side of the room, like Usagi had thought it would be, but there’s…… a lot of clothes strewn about haphazardly. What on Earth was somebody doing in here?

“Mm…. that’s weird, isn’t it?” Usagi says. She wiggles the plush rabbit’s head up and down with her finger, as if it’s nodding in agreement. She’s about to pull out her tablet again to check Sophie’s profile for hints about what kind of animal she would like, but when she clicks the screen on, there’s quite a few worrying messages. Namely, messages that say things like……like…………

“She’s what??” Usagi wails out loud to the empty room.

“Ding-dong, bing-bong~ A body has been discovered!”

Daycare —> Café

Usagi screeches to a halt, moments away from barrelling into the cluster of folks gathered at the café. The- the scene of the…. crime, evidently. Usagi doesn’t even believe it’s true, really, this must be the moment where all the cameramen jump out and yell “surprise!” and then everyone goes home safe. At least, that is until she sees………

a smear

of

blood

trailing up to………

Trixie’s body.

Usagi lets out a shriek. Her tablet, still clutched in her hand during her race to the café, clatters to the ground.

“I-investigate?” she stammers out. “Uwaah, this is—- there’s no way! There’s just no way this is happening!”

The iron-metallic tang of blood wafts to her nose and she nearly gags. Instead, she clutches her rabbit tight to her chest and watches everybody else begin to poke around while the news settles in her mind.

The idea of two people teaming up to slaughter someone like this sent a faint chill through the ghost. "...god, that's brutal. That explains the - extent of the blood..." No wonder it was covering more ground than it would have otherwise, there were more people to smear it around. "We should check alibis. What time do you think this took place?"

Monokuma shrugged. "Nah, in this case, you just didn't notice the lawyer come in," he said. "She's so quiet. I barely even know she's there! Her edit is going to be horrible!"

A few items were missing but it was rather hard to tell how many were missing as there was such a large supply. Stiles' bat looked clean, though he should have known that anyway. A few more drops of blood led to another rack of items, these being hockey sticks and lacrosse sticks. A few of these were missing as well.

Stiles really wished he had taken the time in the last few days to do a proper head count of everything in here. He was being paranoid, but it wouldn't have been the first time he killed without remembering. "Wow, it looks like our killer is a real athlete, hockey, golf, lacrosse and baseball," Stiles sarcastically mumbled to himself.

Stiles would send a second group text to everyone. 'Looks like some of the hockey and lacrosse sticks are gone as well, looks like our killer is either the ultimate athlete or incredibly indecisive"

Claude Von Riegan

Claude took in the physical evidence first. Anything sent from Monokuma may be suspicious so it was best to do a physical check before checking the file. He seemed to deem that Trixie's cause of death on the file was accurate. That mark on her head definately seemed deadly. Whoever did this must have known just the right point of the head to hit for an instant kill as well. Perhaps they knew something about anatomy or had killed before? He also noticed her missing tablet, which immediately brought his attention to something else. If someone had taken her tablet, perhaps either one of Trixie's partners was a suspect or one of her frequently messaged people was a suspect. The tablets did not save messaging history so there would have been no other reason to take it, right?

"I dunno that there was an accomplace.
Based on how she died by a single blow I don't know that it was nessacary...." he said in response to Sophie's suggestion of an accomplace. "Besides, the bear already said that we all made 3 since I also brought Louise. I think I'm going to keep inspecting in here for now." he announced before glancing at the others in the room. "I know I might be sounding insensitive here but you've gotta pull yourselves together here. We need to focus and investigate. Trixie's gone yeah, but that's all the reason why we need to focus so we can accurately find her killer. We need to worry about that now and save the trauma for later." Perhaps it was just gis war hardened mind speaking. He was used to finding carnage like this so it was probably easier for him to push it out than others...

Noticing the bloody coffee machine and remembering Monokuma's LOVELY remark about getting a coffee, he decided to investigate the bloodspatter for any potential clues. He glanced at Clementine.

"Wait...did someone change those? I thought Menma was supposed to be my messaging partner? Did you change it and not let us know? Or did I just read it wrong?" he questioned, remsmbering that he did check in with Menma before but then quit speaking with her yesterday.

Day 2:

Cater escorted Marie back to her room before heading to his, saying goodbye to his partners before heading in. He quickly got changed in the bathroom and settled into bed, drifting off quickly. Tomorrow would be another fun day to hangout with friends…

Day 3:

He woke up the next morning and waited for Mar, Nani and Shiny out in the hall so they could head down together. He was glad to see most people had taken his suggestion of eating breakfast together. After that, Nana revealed the deck of cards she had snagged the day before and invited the group to play games in her room. He hadn’t really played much card games before enrolling at Night Raven, but once he joined Heartslabyul dorm it was all over for him. That was like, half the pastime activities there. The card motif they had going on in the dorm never got old though; he loved posting aesthetic pics around the dorm. He thought back to the common room…

IMG_9772.jpeg

Damn. He didn’t realize how much he had started it miss his home away from home.

He thought he was an automatic shoe in for first place in whatever card games they would play, but he was dead wrong. It ended up being almost a one on one between Nani and Shiny. Marie had dropped out early, and if it weren’t for Cater’s four of Diamond pride, he would have done the same. They ended up grabbing some board games to play as well, which evened the odds only slightly thanks to the fact that some parts were luck based. They had gotten a bunch of food as well to munch on, but Cater didn’t eat much due to most of it being sweets. If anyone asked, he would have said he just wasn’t a fan which was the truth, though there was a bit more to it than that.

He parted ways from the girls once nighttime hit, bringing Marie to her room first before heading to his. When he spotted Yumeko in their room he realized he should have invited her, then also realized he would have lost even worse. She was the ultimate gambler after all. He greeted her and hopped in the shower, before snuggling in to bed again. He had started to get way to comfortable here, but he also had a horrible feeling that it would all change soon…

Day 4:

He woke up and checked his messages right away, as was routine for him even before coming here. He was a little later than usually and received a text from Usagi that she was already headed to the restaurant.

hi cater!!!! i just wanted to give you a heads up that i’m ok and i’ll be at the restaurant shortly!!!!!! i hope you had a good night’s rest!!

He promptly responded.

Kk! just woke up, see you in a few! and I did sleep well, thx! hope you did too!

He quickly threw on some clothes and headed outside, where his group was waiting, and they headed down to the restaurant together.

They greeted everyone as usuall, but it seemed they arrived just in time for Monokuma to appear.

"Ohhh... is someone missing? Or is she sleeping in? I wonder..." The bear put his paws to his mouth and let out a laugh. "Puhuhu, I guess we'll never know for sure..."

Someone’s missing? His heart skipped a beat. They had just started to relax. Cater couldn’t help but wonder if that was a mistake. Maybe they shouldn’t have let their guards down. However he also knew that remaining calm was the right thing to do.

"Um... everyone! While I think that nothing bad is happening and he was just spitting nonsense, can I ask you all a favor? Please text your messaging partner and ask for their reply immediately! Do it with your physical partner too if they are not here with you!"

She took the words right out of his mouth.

“Nana’s right, and we should all stay-“

Suddenly, the girl Cater recognized as Sophie sprinted past his group and toward the exit, with Pinky (her partner) in tow.

He was torn. Some part of him wanted to go check on the girls, but Marie certainly wouldn’t let him leave without her. He hadn’t gotten a chance to talk to those two much, and as always his goal was to make new friends. Maybe this could be his chance?

“C’mon ladies, let’s follow them.”

He grabbed Nana’s wrist, knowing Marie and Shinoa would follow. He hoped they didn’t mind going on this little adventure with him.

He figured the most logical place for them to have gone would have been to the south washroom. He was just about to enter when he spotted the trail of blood.

No…

He felt his phone buzz but for once he didn’t care. He already knew what it was about.

He motioned for the others to follow. He had taken the lead this time, and tried his best to stay calm. The trail lead them to the Cafe.

He steeled himself for the worst. He hadn’t heard who was missing, so he had no clue who it would be. But he knew by Monokuma’s smug look, that someone was surely dead.

He turned to Marie. “Please stay outside. Please. I don’t think you want to see. Everything will be alright just… stay. I’ll be right inside.”

He didn’t want her to see. He wanted to shield her from the worst. He didn’t wait for a reply. Whether she followed or not, he couldn’t stop her. Thanks to Nana’s group idea, he still hadn’t the chance to talk one on one with her and because of that still hadn’t learned her past. So all he could do was guess. He knew that she wasn’t a child, she could make her own decisions. Yet, he still felt the urge to protect her from the evils of the world.

He walked into the room and found Trixie, undoubtedly dead on the floor.

He clasped his hand over his mouth. He didn’t know the girl, he never even had the chance to talk to her. He regretted it immensely. He was sure however that she didn’t deserve this. Now he knew that this meant the murderer was one of them. Someone had started the killing game.

"A body has been discovered! Everyone, please gather in the Café! Why don't you grab a coffee while you're there?"

Monokuma talked. Something about rules being added? Apps? He wasn’t listening. He just, stared. Other people flooded in. People started investigating. He didn’t move. In that moment, his fragile world of cards and hashtags came to a screeching halt.

Cafe

"The time of death?" Monokuma asked. "I have no idea, puhuhu."

"We'll need to search for the tablet," Clementine concluded. "If they took it, they took it, but she might have dropped it during whatever happened."

The coffee machine itself had nothing special about it. It had been used at some point but it was hard to tell if it was just from general use from the last four days or very recently. However, there was coffee spilled on the side of the machine, as well as a cup on the counter that was on its side. Next to it was another cup that was almost empty but undisturbed.

Clementine was busy thinking when Claude questioned her about the partners. "It should be accurate," Clementine said. "I haven't touched it since I wrote it all down. If I got something wrong, I figured someone would have mentioned it to me by now."

She took note of the text that came through. It was pretty clear who had been around the Sporting Good Store recently.

Sophie noticed the board, too. She looked closer, trying to see if there were any signs of eraser marks.

"!"

Kotomine's eyes widened with alarm once he read the text sent out from Sophie, announcing the discovery of Trixie's body. Without wasting any time on responding on the tablet, the man bolted upright, perhaps the most animated anyone had seen him up to this point. He was already on his way when Monokuma made an announcement of his own of the body in the girl's body in the Cafe, and needed no further prompt.

Once he had reached his destination, appearing in the doorway just as Monokuma too had appeared in the Cafe, gracing everyone with a new rule and the Monokuma File, his own name for the autopsy no doubt. The priest was irritated to say the least, less at the bear than even he might have expected, and more at the predicament in general.

"Fool of a little girl. It appears she has paid for her own wayward spirit, as shall we if we do not remain mindful of ourselves," Kotomine said as he approached Clementine and the others from behind, letting his presence be known. His words were harsh, but his expression remained grave and serious, if not for Trixie's own sake, but for his own. Obviously, her death meant that he would be the one placed under the most suspicion, but he would remain steadfast.

"I cannot claim to have noticed anything amiss last night," he continued, speaking to Clementine and the others present in the Cafe who might have already begun to set their sights on him. "The girl and I parted ways last night, shortly before curfew had been declared, and that was the last I saw of her. I did not take notice of anything amiss until the morning, when there seemed to be no sign of her. After all, the girl was not one to... easily forget," he shook his head, before folding his arms behind his back.

Taking notice of the blood on the coffee machine, Kotomine tilted his head slightly. "And beyond that, it is not within my range of knowledge if she took to procuring a beverage afterward, nor her reasons for venturing someplace else by herself."

"In other words, I fear my testimony will not be of much use."

She turned to stare at the priest for a moment, her piercing green eyes almost unnerving, like a camera recording his words. He seemed too eager to provide his alibi - although to be honest, she'd want to get something like that out of the way too. She believed him, though - after all, he was in their room when she got back.

"...from what I see, I think she may have been restless, got up to get herself a coffee - and was ambushed here? Although if two mugs are out, she might've been talking with our suspect. If she had her back to them while making coffee, that'd be their time to strike."

Pinkie stared at her tablet desperately, awaiting Sophie's response that would hopefully say that it was all a joke. Pinkie knew that Sophie wouldn't joke about such things... but Pinkie hadn't really gotten to know everyone yet! Maybe Sophie's sense of humor was really dark! For the first time in a while, Pinkie now desperately wanted everyone to be joking about someone dying. She didn't even care if everyone's humor was dark. As long as they were joking, everything was fine! As long as Pinkie got a reminder that everyone didn't do this to one another, it would be okay. As long as Pinkie knew everyone was friends, and the magic of friendship was in the air...

"im sorry"

Pinkie slid her tablet across the floor when reading this, although it didn't skid too far from her. It was still in the sight of Pinkie, so she could see if it lit up with any messages. However, she had no intention to see whatever was on it. "I'm sorry"? Why couldn't she have said, "Just kidding"? Why couldn't she have said, "She's actually alive"? Why couldn't Pinkie just be right about everything going on, just this one time?

The moment a ding-dong sound filled the air, followed by Monokuma's voice saying there was a dead body, Pinkie was in a full state of panic. She stood up shakily, looking at the screen desperately, screaming, "YOU'RE WRONG!! NOBODY'S D-DEAD! Y-YOU... YOU'RE LYING! LIAR!! NOBODY IS! NOBODY IS! YOU'RE WRONG!" She heard people walking towards the cafe but ignored them completely, physically turning her head away from them. She wasn't going there. It was all a lie. They were lying! She wouldn't believe the idea of this lie. She wouldn't. She wouldn't...

Pinkie noticed her tablet rumbling with more texts about the investigation going on, but didn't want to check on them. Pinkie wasn't falling for it! She wouldn't fall for anything. She backed up into a washroom wall, and as she had done before with the bombing, pulled her hands up to her ears. It seemed as though Pinkie wouldn't help much with the investigation. She wouldn't be like the others, traveling around the building looking for clues. She... she wouldn't be as naive as them! She shook her head, trying to completely block out the world, hoping that this was all fake. No- it wasn't hope. She knew it was all fake! She knew! They were all wrong.

Pinkie still had her curly hair on her, but it seemed to be on the verge of deflating. She watched the entrance of the south washroom with wide eyes, trying to take her eyes and attention off of the blood inside of the sink, not wanting to admit a murder had happened. She just wanted to take her eyes off of everything. She wanted everything to disappear from her, like a dream, and have her wake up in a safe, happy place. She wanted to see Trixie alive, calling herself "Great and Powerful".

...and Pinkie would! She would. She was absolutely, positively sure that she would. Even though Pinkie didn't know Trixie all that well, she would see her again after all this lying is done. She would.

Claude finished investigating the coffee machine, noticing the coffee still sitting there, which did prove Louise's idea. "I don't know. There's clearly a trail toward the sporting goods store and washroom. I think this may have been only a pit stop along the way. Also, there are two cups here. I don't think they're both hers. She doesn't seem like the type to just chug coffee like that. One of these cups probably belongs to the killer or a witness who left their coffee and bolted." he suggested. He then glanced back at the bloodstains. He couldn't tell how they got there, if Trixie had been bashed against it or just dragged by. He was leaning toward the latter however.

He listened to what Kotomine had to say.It wasn't much and he wasn't quite sure that his testimony enough was enough to prove or disprove him as a suspect. But he couldn't find anything to directly object to his testimony right now. For now he left it be.

He agreed with Sophie's suggestion to check elsewhere. "I think we've looked at the main clues in here. I saw others heading for the Sports Goods store so I don't think we'll find much there that's new."
