" Rice,"
Stiles told Clementine ." Sorry, I just realized that made no sense without any context. It does seem like she could have damaged her tablet, or it could be a set up to look that way. But ignoring that fact, what I was saying earlier, electronics when submerged in rice, depending on how long they were wet for could make them work again. "

"Geez, sorry!! It wasn't like we were 100 percent saying you did it." Claude snapped a bit when Menma snapped at him. "How were we to even know you were there when you never said anything? It was only a passing thought since you were the specific messenging partner swapped out. And considering her tablet went missing that just looked the most suspicious. We aren't making a conclusion yet. Besides, the psycho bear said we have a whole trial to hear each other's testomonies and figure out for sure. So, just calm down."

A bit irritated, he walked away from the cafe and followed the group to the next rooms. He normally would have had a more relaxed reaction but his emotions were just high right now. He hasn't dealt with dealth since the war days. He remembers having to kill some of his classnates. That pai ful realization that you can't save everyone hurt more than anything...

Laundry Room

"The killer obviously wouldn't care about the rules. Maybe the killer themselves broke it. I mean, they already broke one rule by killing someone so who cares about another? Unless Trixie accidentally put her tablet through the wash, which could be a possibility." Claude stated in response to Clementine's thoughts. He didn't say much else, still heated from the previous argument with Menma. He was also back to 'pretending she didn't exist' for the moment. Best leave the situation alone...

His emotions were too high to notice anyone else's mental breakdowns at the moment. His only focus was the investigation. He followed along when Clementine left.

Day Care Center

Claude also examined the odd collection of clothes. It definately seemed odd that wet laundry woukd be sitting here. Definately the work of the suspect.

"Sounds to me that the suspect threw these clothes here beneath the sports equipment. Trying to get rid of any and all traces of the blood. But if there's blood on all these sports items...then...maybe she was killed in the sports center, then dragged to the cafe. That would also explain the trail of blood leading there and why less was leading to the wash room."

Pinkie was grateful when Sophie took her hand, saying Pinkie needed to see something somewhere. Pinkie smiled, obviously not getting the message that she was about to see a dead body. This was it! This was the moment Sophie would lead Pinkie into the cafe and show her that it was all some big prank! Hey, maybe there was actually a surprise party in there, all planned for Pinkie Pie! Pinkie seemed to cheer up considerably at this idea, and even though Sophie grimly led her to where Trixie was, Pinkie had a skip to her step. This was the happiest she had been about a prank/party planned for her!! Well, she was always happy with pranks and parties, but this one would give her the most relief when discovered!

Immediately, when she went into the room, her eyes went over to Trixie, and a confused expression went on her face as the smell of iron drafted into her nose. Trixie... it seemed as though she was sleeping... except with red liquid around her. But, but! What had Pinkie said before? The red liquid... was either fake blood or ketchup! That was it! She didn't believe that Trixie could be dead yet, or that Trixie was bleeding! Still, Pinkie seemed on nerve with this hopefully sleeping body, and something told her that it was... no. She needed to find out herself, and luckily, Sophie let her.

When Sophie put Pinkie's fingers on Sophie's neck, Pinkie felt the same level of warmth that she would expect from body heat. The warmth in her fingers was like the smaller portion of the warmth from Wanda's or Usagi's hug. Pinkie seemed to follow along with Sophie, nodding, not knowing what would happen when her fingers suddenly went onto Trixie's neck. Pinkie expected warmth, a pulse, breathing, and any sign that she was alive...

...but was met with nothing.

Sophie apologized, Wanda came in and started scolding her, Atsushi commented to Wanda, but Pinkie sat there in shock. Why... was Trixie's neck cold? Why was there nothing there? Why was the neck empty? Pinkie's face filled with dread, as she checked the pulse of Trixie over and over again. She got the same answer every time, though: absolutely nothing. Her senses seemed to heighten in fear as she checked it over and over again, Pinkie's eyes widening by the second. This... what? How... she... couldn't understand! Her breathing got shallower and shallower, and for the first time, she came into a conclusion she wished she hadn't.

Trixie was dead.

Pinkie stared emptily at the girl, as if silently processing what she was seeing. How... had this happened? How had anything happen? This couldn't be true... but she knew her eyes weren't deceiving her. This wasn't a dream. This was real. When Wanda invited her to her room, Pinkie stared at her, as if she hadn't processed anything she had just said. As if she were lost inside the horrors of the world. As if everything were ending.

Pinkie had just stared at the woman, not showing any panic of emotion overall. Some might say this is good, but this proved to be worse than Pinkie crying over the body. Pinkie was a dramatic girl who always empathized with what she was feeling, and the fact that she didn't even seem sad now would warn others about how she was dealing with this. The next thing that happened was predictable, but Pinkie's hair deflated once again, leaving an empty, pink-haired girl sitting there with no curly hair to comfort her.

The only thing that awoke Pinkie from this state, however, was when she heard Sophie's cries. A spark seemed to ignite inside her, as her eyes drifted over to the scared girl. She had the strength to snap herself for a moment out of her state thanks to this spark. This spark inside her... was the magic of friendship. Pinkie represented the element of laughter, and her life's purpose was to see her friends smile. Seeing Sophie like this, crying by herself...

Pinkie ignored the panicking feelings inside her, having every single movement she was doing now in the name of friendship. She scooted over to Sophie, looking over her vacantly. She placed a hand on her head, as if in comfort, and sang out in a voice that she hoped Sophie would hear:

"'Cause I like to see you smile, smile, smile.
Yes, I do.
It fills my heart with sunshine all the while.
Yes, it does.
'Cause all I really need's a smile, smile, smile,
From this sad friend of mine."

Pinkie had sung this song three times so far, and it had been different every single time. The first time was purely out of joy, the second one was out of self-pity, and this one was entirely to show Sophie that she wasn't alone. While Pinkie's facial expressions still seemed completely drained, her friends were still more important to her. She needed her friends to be happy. She needed them to be. And she would do anything to not have them crying like Sophie was now.

gimon_bk.pngHonestly, it came as a great relief to Marie when her words seemed to get through to Cater, prompting the boy to change his mind regarding his request for her to wait and return to retrieve her. She smiled at first as he took her hand and pulled her inside, evidently glad to feel like she wasn't being abandoned, but whatever small joy she might've felt with this quickly washed away when she caught a glimpse of his expression. There it was again. That look of undeniable hurt and sorrow. She opened her mouth to inquire what was wrong, but he spoke at the same time, only serving to heighten her confusion. He... didn't want her to see?

The sound of a variety of sobs, shouts, and even screams from throughout the room broke her focus, and she finally actually glanced around the room. A large crowd was here- some looking utterly brokenhearted, some determined, and one man even appearing almost joyful as he all but danced around the chalkboard while spouting gibberish in the form of prose that honestly reminded her of Cagliostro. His clothing style seemed deeply familiar as well, but that was all besides the point. Something had clearly provoked emotional reactions from many of these people, but as her eyes skimmed over the body, she did not seem to grieve. She frowned, felt perhaps a mild sting of discomfort, but lacked the full comprehension needed to grasp the weight of this occurrence. Death was commonplace wherever she went, and she'd never had the chance to care for something before; of course she wouldn't know how mortifying it would be to experience such a loss.

Still, she could recognize pain, even if she hadn't yet developed her emotional understanding far enough to see the reason. Maybe that was why she'd felt some sickness to her stomach; she didn't like the idea of the people she knew hurting. "It's alright," she assured, dismissing his apology with a shake of her head. "We will get through this together. As a group," she decided, her voice carrying the same clarity as her earlier expression of frustration. She thoughtlessly reached to swipe his tears away with the thumb of her free hand, seeming unaware that this might've been an unwanted invasion of personal space. "So... don't be sad, okay?"

She wanted to express that sentiment to the rest of the people here, too, but wondered if it was wise. Moreover, something Ren told her in their small handful of days together crossed her mind; sometimes, people used tears to get what they wanted. To avoid blame, even when they were in the wrong. It was definitely a worthwhile thought, but she lost it entirely when the sound of Pinkie's song hit her ears. An idea crossed her mind, and she glanced to Cater. Before she could voice it, however, Nana unknowingly saved the day with her suggestion. "Yes. Let's all go together," she agreed, determination briefly sparkling in her eyes. Maybe this would be a good distraction if the body was what was making him cry?

Taking her turn in pulling Cater along, Marie followed Nana to the gift shop. "So, um..." A long moment passed. "What exactly are we looking for?" Truth be told, she didn't have any clue. She admittedly hadn't thoroughly observed this area beyond brief glimpses during her late night walks, but she did eventually manage to notice the postcards after some perusal. Of course, Nana probably found them long before, but she still idly observed. "Ah, hey... isn't that that girl?"

Clementine thought Stiles' idea to put the tablet in rice sounded incredibly stupid.

But she didn't say that out loud.

She was still considering what the clothes at the Day-Care meant when the announcement system kicked in.

*Ding-Dong Bing-Bong*

"Everyone, this is your host, Monokuma! Please make your way to the door at the center of the building! The trial is about to begin. Remember, attendance is mandatory!"

It was starting. The trial. No one really knew what that meant, even if they had some kind of idea. Monokuma had never given them a time limit on investigating, so did that mean they had all the info they needed? All the info they had gathered felt jumbled and out of place. It was going to take some discussion for everyone to be on the same page.

The door that Monokuma meant was the mysterious locked door leading into the large center space.

Stiles really wished he had some time to piece together what he had seen, but right now, it felt like he was missing things. Maybe he would take a few moments to review the file. "I'm going to see if we have rice for the tablet and then head to the trial, see you there." He would first head to the restaurant to see if he could grab a bag of rice and then headed to the mysterious door to enter the trial.

Before Claude could say anything else or suggest another place to search, he heard the announcement. He supposed Monomuma must have given them a time limit. Everything was still very jumbled. He felt like they hadn't had enough time to investigate. However, attendance was mandatory so there really was no point in trying to object. It was time for the trial. Hopefully rhey had uncovered enough evidence to find the killer or someone's going to be getting away with this crime.

"Looks like this is it..." he mumbled before walking ahead for now, making his way toward the indicated location. He was too tense to really say anything else, just slowly making his way ahead to face whatever awaited them.

"It's alright, we will get through this together. As a group, so... don't be sad, okay?" Even as she talked, his eyes never turned away from the body. He just stared blankly as his eyes glazed over with tears. And that’s exactly why he didn’t notice Marie’s hand reaching up to wipe the tears away. A soft, sweet gesture, and not an unwelcome one. He closed his eyes briefly to get the last of the tears out and blinked a few times. Then he finally turned to look at her.

“Thank you, Marie.”

He wasn’t used to this kind of care. At home it was just his dad and sisters and they weren’t people he willingly shared things with. He went to an all boys school as well, and that meant the most toxic masculinity you’ve ever seen. While he of course had friends that cared, none of them would be the type for soft things like that, as much as he craved for them. Anytime he was sad he found himself alone in his room.

“Guys. I will go check the gift shop. You can come and help me look for anything unusual”

Nana’s voice broke his thoughts. So the investigation begins, huh? Typical of Nana to take charge right away. It was almost scary how easily her and Marie had gotten over death. Once again bringing the question of what those two had been through where they’d perhaps experienced death before?

"Yes. Let's all go together,"

Before he had the chance to respond, Marie had started pulling him along.

“Oh okay-“

It was Cater’s turn being pulled around, head empty and no clue what was happening. His brain was still a little shook and scrambled from everything.

They arrived at the gift shop. So much Monokuma… everywhere…

"Ah, hey... isn't that that girl?"

But before he had the chance to look at what Marie was talking about, another announcement played.

*Ding-Dong Bing-Bong*

"Everyone, this is your host, Monokuma! Please make your way to the door at the center of the building! The trial is about to begin. Remember, attendance is mandatory!"

The trial. They were about to fight for their lives by condemning another.

Cater glanced around at the others in his group.

“I didn’t even get a chance to…”

His voice trailed off, but he figured the others knew what he was trying to say. All he could do was hope that everyone else could pull through in the trial. He waited for the others to lead him to the courtroom.

Sophie looked up at Pinkie, tears staining her eyes. She looked pained, and it was apparent that this feeling was one Sophie had been feeling for a long… long time. So long that maybe she had forgotten she was feeling it.

Sophie couldn't help herself. She clung onto Pinkie, her cries becoming more intense. She buried herself in her friend's hug, sobbing uncontrollably.

"I'm sorry!" she cried, "I’m so… so sorry…"

Then the announcement came. It cut through her like a knife. She split herself from Pinkie, wiping her tears away.

"Y-yeah…" Sophie said through sobs, "Y-y-you heard th-the an-announcement… w-we should g-go…"

She took Pinkie's hand in her own. It was a different type of handholding than Sophie would with Jenny. She would allow Pinkie to take the lead, still using her sleeve to wipe her tears.

Sophie paused for a moment, finally realizing what was happening. She must have made Pinkie feel worse. Oh god Pinkie must hate her now.

Tears welled up in the girl's eyes, "Right… yeah… sorry…" she said, remorse ever so present in her voice.

It was a strange feeling. Sophie felt like Wanda had no malice in her voice, just a stern voice made of genuine concern. She's known this before, but she couldn't feel it all.

Suddenly… memories started to come back.

Sophie, when she was nine, tried to steal a cookie from the jar, but her mom smacked it out of her hand. "Don't do that dear," she said, "It's not okay to steal".

Then, more horrifying images came to her. An image of her mother's face on a wall, but this time… it wasn't framed.

A bell chime? Similar to the one before, and still somewhat different from the usual ominous chime that was like a clock striking the hour at the orphanage. Even so, he froze for a second before the following words of Monokuma registered in his brain. Blinking hard he shook his head to pull himself together.

"...Will you two be okay?" he muttered towards both girls as he moved to stand. He knew that they weren't emotionally ready and he himself wasn't mentally ready for the trial, but they had to attend.

He felt that the group didn't have enough time but they must of had enough evidence for the trial to have started so soon. Hopefully.

Either way, Atsushi would stick close to Sophie, Pinkie, Usagi, and Wanda once they made their way to the trial site. He'd also keep an eye out for Shinobu as well.

Cafe —> Trial Room

When Sophie suddenly tackled her into a hug, her bursting into tears, Pinkie sat there. She didn’t tear up or look at the girl sympathetically, as she normally would. Pinkie was just… there, yet not actually there at the same time. The spark of friendship that burst inside her for that small moment was dispersing now, leaving Pinkie ultimately empty. The vibe of happiness that used to surround Pinkie had disappeared the moment she acknowledged Trixie was dead, and there was no turning back from that moment. Perhaps the pink-haired girl would cheer up later… but certainly not now.

Pinkie shook her head slightly and patted Sophie's head at her apologies, as if saying she didn’t have to say sorry. Pinkie Pie didn’t say anything after knowing Trixie died, besides her quick song to Sophie, and Pinkie really didn’t feel the need to talk at all. She didn’t want to talk at all. Even if she wanted to, she seemed to be lost in herself from the shock of what Sophie just showed her. The cold skin. The unbreathing girl. The dead body. Pinkie ran these facts through her head, but she didn’t even let out a shiver in her body. It seemed as though the shock of someone actually going through a killing sent Pinkie into an empty, emotionless state that she couldn’t pull herself out of right now.

Pinkie was interrupted from her shaking of her head and patting when a sudden ding-dong noise filled the air, causing Sophie’s body to unwrap from hers. Pinkie didn’t react to this besides putting her arms to her sides, silently staring at the floor. Even though she suddenly thought the floor looked interesting, she still listened to what Monokuma’s voice had to say. She seemed to be concentrating on his words, yet at the same time not. Even though she was in this state, she still understood what Monokuma was telling them to do. Like a puppet, Pinkie immediately stood up, right as Atsushi was kneeling up as well. She didn’t acknowledge seeing him get up as well, though, simply standing there.

Pinkie let Sophie take her hand, not having any objections to the action Sophie put on her. Earlier, Pinkie seemed so happy when Sophie took her hand, but now she seemed so… indifferent. She was lost in her own thoughts, in her own world. Pinkie was certainly not ready for a trial in her broken state. If she wasn’t paying attention to anything… how could she focus? If people asked for her alibi, or if somebody accused her, how could she talk back confidently and clearly? The others had to take control of the trial and get them through it if they were going to see another day here.

When Atsushi directed a mutter towards them, Pinkie stared at him with dull eyes, as if mentally wondering the same question herself. He was asking if they were... okay? Would they be okay? Pinkie didn’t know anything that was happening right now… so could she be okay? She had to try to be okay! She had to try. She knew she had to try. She just… couldn’t, though. It was like when she procrastinated from washing her clothes earlier: she just didn't have the strength to go through with it. She was trapped in the despair of everything right now. Maybe she would find hope later, but everything was piling onto all of their shoulders, and Pinkie didn’t know how to balance it all into a happy ending.

To answer Atsushi’s question, though, Pinkie simply started mouthing the words, I-I-I don't… She stopped right there, as if she already answered the question. She didn’t know if Atsushi could read mouths, but she hoped that he could understand what she was trying to convey. She didn't know herself what she was trying to convey, but she hoped Atsushi would know what she didn't. Pinkie... ha... she didn’t know anything. She didn’t know why they were sent all here. She didn’t know how she was reacting to everything. She didn’t know how they all came from different multiverses. She didn’t know. She didn't know.

She opened her pink tablet with the hand that wasn’t holding Sophie’s, navigating to the MAP app that quickly showed where everything was. It seemed like forever ago when she was excited about this new feature. Since they were in the cafe, and the trial room was in the previously locked room at the center of shops, they just needed to get there. She showed Sophie her tablet, hoping she would see it through her sleeves, and then put it in a pocket somewhere in her skirt. After doing so, she looked at Sophie again as to confirm that she would take the lead to the trial room, and then looked at Atsushi and Wanda as if to say, Let’s go. She was internally glad Atsushi, Wanda, and Sophie were all here, since she didn’t think that she could get through anything without them here. Well, and one more person…

If Usagi was still in the cafe, Pinkie’s eyes would have drifted over to her. If Usagi noticed Pinkie looking at her, then she would know that even if Pinkie wasn’t saying it out loud, she was inviting her to go to the trial room with them. She would know that Pinkie didn’t want the blond-haired girl to be alone through this, and that as Usagi had hinted to her before, that they would get through this together. While Pinkie was trying to give these thoughts to Usagi, though, Pinkie certainly didn’t feel and believe them herself.

After looking at many of her friends, she looked at Sophie again and walked out of the cafe, still holding hands with the girl. She hoped Usagi, Wanda, and Atsushi would come with them soon, as they were the people Pinkie most trusted, and the people Pinkie wanted to get through this with. She then walked towards the trial room, where everyone else was headed, and even though Pinkie wasn’t ready for this at all, she still marched forward. She has no idea what motivated her to keep walking, though.

Kotomine remained silent as Clementine and the others uncovered the next few clues in the laundry and other places, processing the information by himself, and trying to ascertain what they might have meant. Of course, he wasn't left to his own thoughts for very long before Monokuma once again piped up, cutting through everyone's exchanges with the fateful announcement that the trial was about to begin. Like everyone else, the priest had to wonder what would have spurred the bear to pick now of all times to begin the trial; if it was some arbitrary time limit or if he had decided they had found enough clues to find the truth by themselves.

So with that, he did as was told and began to make his way toward the door in the center of the building. Loath as he was to be at someone else's beck and call, Kotomine knew he and the rest of the group had no other choice in the end. He would have to bide his time, and if the gamemaster wanted them all to play a game in the meantime, then play along he would. Kotomine wasn't usually one for games, but if he was going to play, he was going to play to win.

Passing by Sera who seemed blissfully oblivious to the drama, it was perhaps the woman's good fortune that she said such a thing next to the one person here who would remain unfazed by her casual callousness. "Indeed, the assailant could only have been one of us, for the bear lacks the subtlety for such an incognito murder. And you recall what he said those days before... anyone who could commit a murder and get away with it would be able to go home free."

The priest folded his arms behind his back as he spoke, his expression stony and still. "No doubt, everyone else is spurred on by some moral crusade in which they could not possibly deign to let a wanton murderer go free," Kotomine went on, his words perhaps ironic, contrasting against his occupation as a priest, though the others who knew the truth in his soul would perhaps find this fitting of him.

"But myself... If nothing else, I simply refuse to allow myself to be bested intellectually by another. Would that not frustrate you as well? To live on knowing someone else had not only committed such a heinous crime, but also made a fool of you? I simply would not be able to stand such a thing," he said, though despite his words, a sense of dry self-amusement permeated his expression rather than that of any possible irritation, as though unable to even express his stated (alleged) emotions correctly.

No. Perhaps more than some egotistical desire to get the better of someone else intellectually, Kotomine's motivation to go along was, at its core, more simple than even that. For if he couldn't leave this infernal place, then no one would either.

Menma was quiet, just following the others- looking pale and as if she would puke or pass out at any moment. This was all too much.

She wanted to beat the shit out of Claude for disrespecting her, but she didn't even have the energy to argue; following Clementine solemnly. Then the PA rang.

A body. The body. It’s still there, still lying in its own blood still getting colder and colder and waxy and bloated and when does rigor mortis start? It can’t take long, can it, because death doesn’t care it’s not personal it just wants to do its job and decay but you know what is personal is— is when a person makes the choice to- to hit a person over the head, hit ‘em hard enough that they fall to the ground and take down a cup of coffee with them, now isn’t that funny? Usagi’s always been a clutz but even she would hate it if the last sensory input her little battered body received before nothingness was the scalding of hot coffee, aside from the- well, the knock on the head of course, that must’ve hurt something awful, wouldn’t it? Poor Trixie, poor little thing whose last feeling was pain, was— was—

Ding-dong, bing-bong~!

Mmn. Right. There’s more to this still, isn’t there? Usagi’d forgotten about that part. The sleazy drawl of Monokuma’s voice, urging them to get ready for trial, is what manages to halt her terrible cycle of thought. At least she got it out of her system; now when Usagi looks at Trixie at the body, all she feels is….. blank. That’s okay. That’s better, for now.

Oh! Pinkie’s watching her. Her gaze is something fierce, the amount of emotion she’s trying to send through one look. Like shoving a handful of marbles through a straw’s hole all at once. It’s funny that this, this look, is what makes the tears start to well in Usagi’s eyes again. Usagi’s- she’s not even sure what she’s feeling back. She- wants. She yearns. But she doesn’t even know for what, really. To stop? To go home? Maybe. But going home can’t fix what’s already gone wrong.

She watches Pinkie hold Sophie’s hand and plod dejectedly out the café to the trialroom. A death march on somebody else’s behalf.

Wanda, if she’s still hanging around, is what Usagi settles on. Usagi rushes to press herself close to Wanda-san’s side. This, at least, is something she gets to have for now. All of them, all her friends; they will have to be pried from her clawed grasp if at all.

“I guess it’s time for us to go,” Usagi whispers out loud to whoever is listening. “Let’s— let’s go and do something right.”

Grasping on to Usagi, Wanda's attention was first on Atsushi. The witch didn't know him to well. He was more "a friend of friends.", but he seemed like a good egg. Nodding her head, Wanda agreed with his comments. "You're right. I shouldn't have lost my cool like that. I'm Sorry Sophie."
1646779390289.png
As the bell rand, Wanda seemed annoyed, standing in her work out attire, Wanda's scarlet shawl wrapped around her in the place of her normal cape. "Really? I wanted to change first! I look like a hot mess right now, I bet. It can't be helped, it seems. More important things to do. " Looking down at Usagi, Wanda's nose wrinkled up, clearly pondering something. "Be honest with me Usagi dear, how bad do I look? Not too sweaty I hope?" Wanda said as she strolled her way towards the trail room. "Pinkie, you are coming with us?"

As everyone gathered at the door, they found Monokuma waiting for them. He casually shrugged his bear shoulders at the group. "Everyone ready?" he asked.

"Ready for what?" Clementine said in response. "What's going to happen?"

"What better way to find out than to just jump in? Puhuhu... One of you murdered in cold blood, but do you have what it takes to outplay the others? I very much hope you give it all you got! Make it a good show!"

The door behind Monokuma opened, revealing a gate that slowly opened it that started to rise. Monokuma stepped aside so everyone could step inside the dark hall beyond. It was a relatively short walk to a round room, where thirty-two podiums were set up in a circle. Each one had a name for every participant. The one for Trixie was already occupied by a stand that had her picture on it.

Case #1: Trixie

Thirty-two random lives had been taken from everything they knew and placed into a harrowing situation. Waking up in an unknown location, everyone searched and debated at length about what this meant for them. The Ultimate Ninja, Tobi, secretly posed as a creature named Pyramid Head, though was forced to reveal himself when he tried to break out of the building. A microphone had been found, hinting at the truth: Everyone was being watched by a robotic plush bear named Monokuma. The bear appeared before the group, announcing they were part of a killing game. The only way to leave was to kill another within the group and then get away with it. If they did not participate, they would be trapped within the building for the rest of their lives.

Menma attacked Monokuma, only for him to explode as a punishment. She and a few others ended up getting hurt in the blast. As it turned out, Monokuma had an unlimited amount of bodies. Violence against him was prohibited. If the participants broke that rule or any other, the punishment would be painful, if not deadly. The other rules included the fact that people could only sleep in the hotel, were prohibited from the restaurant during nighttime, and one could not destroy the tablets they were given. Monokuma left the group with the idea that a traitor was secretly among their ranks, working with Monokuma to some degree.

The group decided to implement a couple of measures to ensure no one would get killed. Physical partners were chosen for people to stick with, while messaging partners were chosen for people to text on occasion. Clementine recorded this info on the chalkboard in the Café. Things were quiet for a couple days, until the worst occurred...

The Ultimate Magician, Trixie, was found dead in the Café.

The Monokuma File stated that Trixie had died of blunt force trauma. She died in just a single blow to the head. Her tablet was missing and was found in the pants pocket of a piece of clothing that was in a washing machine in the Laundry Room. It was no longer working. A bunch of other clothes were found in the Day-Care Center, most belonging to Trixie and Sunset, though Sunset would not be able to confirm she knew everything Trixie wore. The clothes were wet and covering a number of sports items with spots of blood on them. Hockey sticks, golf clubs, baseball bats, and lacrosse sticks had all been taken from the Sporting Goods Store.

In the Café, a large pool of blood was around Trixie's body and near a coffee machine. This coffee machine had blood on it and spilled coffee. There were two cups, one spilled over and one mostly empty. There was also blood outside the Café leading to the Sporting Goods Store. There was also blood in the sink of the South Washroom, the one closest to the Café.

There is a possibility that the partner list in the Café has been tampered with so that some of the partners are switched up.

...

The circle pf podiums began to rise once everyone was in place. It moved like an elevator for just a few moments before coming to a stop. Monokuma was now seated a bit above the group on what might have been considered a throne.

"There you go, it's as if you're in a courtroom! Everyone here is on trial now, after all! You see, whoever the Blackened is... it's them versus the rest of you. You'll present your argument for who you think the killer is and the outcome will be decided by popular vote! If the killer is caught... they will be punished. That's how it works, folks! Doesn't this get you into the mood? The mood to shout, yell, and scream at one another? Get visceral? Fight for your life, here and now!"

"We would have found a blood trail, or at least some spatter had the body been carried from the murder spot into the cafe." Yumeko said, gesturing forwards, her chipper voice echoing through the room. "The knocked over coffee maker indicates a struggle, however, the two cups of coffee might mean it was most likely someone Trixie knew, and knew well." She began counting on her fingers and in her head, recounting the given evidence.

Her face grew dark and a wide smile formed.

Sophie hesitantly separated from Pinkie and got to her spot. On her left was Butters, on her right was Claude. Neither of whom she was particularly close with, but Usagi was next to Butters

Wiping the last of her tears away, Sophie finally felt ready. Yumeko, who was next to Claude, spoke first.

"The knocked over coffee maker indicates a struggle, however, the two cups of coffee might mean it was most likely someone Trixie knew, and knew well."

Sophie was put off by Yumeko’s bizarrely upbeat attitude about someone dying, but something else could possibly have been the case.

"Or… or the killer could have just… messaged her saying if she wanted coffee…" Sophie said, shying away from making any accusatory statements.

Claude Von Riegan

Ultimate Stratigist

Trial Room

Claude found his way to the Trial Room with the others. He had to admit, this room definately did resemble a court. Even the way Monokuma sat on a throne was like a judge overseeing the case, though he knew this all was just the psychotic bear's entertainment. The group here would be the judge and jury of this case. It was up to the upcoming discussion for them to discover who killed Trixie.

"Here's to a good and accurate discussion..." was all the Ultimate Stratigist could find himself to say before finding his way to his assigned podium. The way how Trixie's podium showed nothing but her crossed out picture truly confirmed it to everyone that she was dead. How they could not save everyone. How the only thing any of them could do now for the girl was to bring her killer to justice. And the only way to do that would be to debate here and send another one of them to an execution. This was their fate... Them vs The Killer.

He closed his eyes in preparation as the podiums rose, setting the stage for the important doscussion. He had to admit that Monokuma's casual discussion about this was getting on his nerves. But he was to a point he really didn't care. He already knew that this bear saw this as nothing but entertainment. And here they were, nothing more than his game pieces. It wasn't fair. This couldn't truly be how they'd have to live the rest of their lives? Seeing bodies, going up here to debate who else to also be sent to die. There had to be something more they could do. They could prevent another one of these, right? If they just could---

His thoughts were cut off when Yumeko began speaking. He was currently seated between Yumeko and Sophie so it was easy to snap to attention when she spoke. Her remark about rolling fate's dice was a bit unsettling. However, making a remark wasn't going to do anything. Right now, they had a trial to get to. So he just focused on what was said.

"The blood leads to the Sporting Goods Store and Washroom. Trixie's tablet was found in her pants, which were wet, which means that she either accidentally washed her pants with her tablet in it, or the killer delibrately put her tablet through the wash so no one could check it." Claude went along. "There was also an odd pile of wet clothes in the daycare room, hiding sporting equioment that had some blood spatter on it. Has anyone inspected the Sporting Goods Store? The blood seems to little to be a murder weapon...which may mean she was killed near that equipment and the killer wanted to hide it."

Clementine - Trial Room

Not wanting to be noticeably shorter than everyone else for this discussion, Clementine stood out of the wheelchair and leaned against the podium so she could stand on one leg. She wrung her hands together, lost in thought as the others began speaking up. Clementine had seen far more hits and blows and murders than most any girl her age, so something about Trixie's wound didn't add up for her. However, she still needed to think it over a bit before voicing her exact thoughts.

There was also that washing machine matter...

"Do we know those sticks are what was used to kill her?" Clementine asked. "Can someone tell me exactly what the blood looked like on those?"

"Why, how about this?" Monokuma said waving a paw. The middle of the trial room opened up to reveal a few of the clues they had found. These included the clothing and the sports items.

"Spots of blood," Clementine said in conclusion. "And..." She looked to Stiles. "Can you describe what the store looked like exactly? Where was the blood?"

Stiles "Ultimate Sarcasm" Stilinski

Stiles would take a second to remember, having lost his focus for the briefest of moments. " It was a trail of blood, it looked smeared, one path led to the cafe and the other led to the sports center, to the row of baseball bats if I'm remembering correctly," Stiles replied back to her.

Trial Room

When Wanda asked if Pinkie was coming, she nodded slowly, now just stopping to stand in front of the trial room. Not everyone had arrived yet, which let Pinkie silently examine what she was seeing in front of her. What she saw was a closed door, which obviously wasn’t going to open until they all arrived here, seeing how the talking bear operated. Pinkie guessed that behind this closed door was the trial room, but she had no idea what it would look like. Was it like the regular court rooms that were from her world, or had the talking bear changed it in some way? She couldn't imagine how he would, though. It looked like they were about to start soon, though, since it looked like everyone was waiting for the trial to start. Everyone besides Trixie, of course...

When Monokuma suddenly appeared before them, this only confirmed what Pinkie was thinking about it starting. She stopped thinking this, though, as she was suddenly put into fear from seeing Monokuma. This may have been a step-up from Pinkie's empty state, however. Pinkie was surprised Clementine could just speak up to him, and how others weren’t hiding away in fear from seeing the talking stuffed animal, as this bear was the one who brought their despair so far. This bear was the one who brought their bad news. This bear was the one who injured many of them. This bear was the one who had kept being uncompassionate to them!

Even if no one else felt the way Pinkie did, she still had her eyes widen from fear. Her hand tightened in Sophie’s grasp, and she took a step back, as if this motion would help her escape from the situation. It didn’t, of course, and she still had to stand there with the rest while Monokuma made statements to them, but it at least was a subconscious effort of her. Monokuma’s words completely slid by her, but Pinkie did notice when the doors suddenly opened up, leading to a dark hallway that hopefully finally led to the trial room.

Gosh, this was it. This was the trial that… led to their fates. The fear from Monokuma seemed to start to trigger emotions inside her again, leaving waves of shock and terror flowing inside her. The only thing that kept Pinkie was shaking right then and there, though, as Sophie's hand. The only thing that led Pinkie still standing and going was Sophie’s hand. The only thing that anchored Pinkie so far with all this trial news was Sophie's hand. Pinkie held tighter and tighter to Sophie’s grasp, as if begging for her not to let go, before walking inside the black hallway.

It was only a short walk, but to Pinkie it seemed like forever. Every step Pinkie made with Sophie was another step away from their past, after all. Away from their trust in everyone and everything. Away from the love they all had for one another, hoping that they could all get through this together. The moment they all stepped into that trial room… the moment they all started distrusting each other and believing anyone could have done that… none of them would ever turn back.

Pinkie felt dread as she finally stepped into the trial room, which held thirty-two seats, each one specifically made for them. As Pinkie saw the x’d out sign of Trixie, a wave of nausea mixed in with her waves of fear went through her again, making her quickly turn away. Hopefully Pinkie wouldn’t have a breakdown in the middle of the trial when fully acknowledging Trixie’s death among them. Well, Pinkie had acknowledged Trixie's death... but didn't at the same time.

Pinkie slowly lightened her grip on Sophie when seeing the room, and after it had been fairly light, Sophie pulled away. Pinkie let her, silently watching her go to her place in the stands. This was a big area right here... where was Pinkie's spot? After seeing Sophie move herself, Pinkie shakily turned to see where she would stand among the thirty-two, no, thirty-one people. She let out a panicked breath when acknowledging there were thirty-one people, now looking around with more motivation to see where she would be, wanting to free herself from this thought again. It seemed she would stand in the middle of Clementine and Trusty. While she didn’t know Trusty that well, she did recognize Clementine from their earlier situation of Pyramid Head ripping the elevator door open. Well, not Pyramid Head now, but Tobi. Knowing at least one of the people next to her, even if not that well, helped Pinkie slowly move in her spot, looking as everyone else did so too.

“Eeh!!” Pinkie let out her first noise since her little song to Sophie when the stands started moving, giving her the similar sensation of when she had ridden the elevator earlier to the reception area. This was different though. Before, Pinkie was excited to have the elevator sensation, and now, the movement only gave Pinkie a sick feeling. When the podiums were moving up, Pinkie held onto her stand desperately, eyes squeezed shut from the world. It was as if she were afraid that she would fall off of it any second. No, it was like she was afraid of everything, and this movement of the stands was an excuse for her to let it all come out.

Luckily, she didn’t fall off, nor did anybody. When it finally stopped, everyone seemed to be perfectly fine. Pinkie didn’t let go of her podium, though, until Monokuma stopped talking about their courtroom. After he had done so, her eyes shot open, quickly seeing the person right across from her: Wanda. The sight gave her comfort, yet she still breathed heavily. Before people started arguing and talking over each other, Pinkie stared at Wanda for a few seconds.

And then the trial started.

Pinkie’s eyes moved over from the red-cloaked woman to a black-haired girl, listening to her briefly. The girl certainly had no mercy with her words, though. Blood. Murder. Struggle. The shock of Trixie’s body and the knowing that they were here because of murder finally brought tears of Pinkie’s eyes, although this was better than her emotionless state. The cries silently rolled down her face, as she looked at the girl in pure horror that could be equivalent to the look she gave to Pyramid He- er, Tobi earlier when she made remarks to Usagi and others. How could the girl say it so simply? Trixie… Trixie was a friend! She used to be with them! She was a friend... a friend who…

Before Pinkie could say anything to the girl, though, Sophie spoke up, saying how there were more options to how Trixie could have been messaged/contacted. Pinkie looked at Sophie, nodding grimly and slowly at her statement, tightening her breath from her sobs to focus on everything. While she was trying to stop her crying movements, she couldn't help but wonder to herself as to why they were holding this trial again. They were holding it... for their lives. They were fighting here for their lives. And if they lost...

Pinkie's eyes immediately drifted over to Usagi, Sophie, Atsushi, and Wanda. If they lost... then they would be lost. Forever. So that meant that... Pinkie had to fight for her friends. She had to go through this in friendship. She had to fight for the people she trusted. Loved. Respected. All the people here, and all the people back at home. This... this was when she had to use the magic of friendship! This was when she had to fight for all she needed! Where she had to laugh in the face of danger, at the sides of her best friends! So, if this was for the magic of friendship...

...why did she feel so bad inside?

Pinkie let out a quiet sob, trying to wipe the tears from her eyes. She... she had to do this! She had to do it for everyone! She listened to Claude's and Clementine's statement closely, although sadly, trying to restrain the panic building up inside her. When Clementine asked Stiles about the... blood... Pinkie balled her hands into fists for a second. Calm down. Calm down, Pinkie! You can do this!

She looked at Stiles in confusion, saying loud enough for him to hear, "A-are you sure none of the... liquid... was leading to the south washroom? I'm pretty sure there was..." Pinkie covered her mouth as nausea hit her again, pausing for a moment before continuing, "...liquid there as well." Pinkie hadn't investigated earlier, too busy panicking, so she didn't know the answer herself.

Louise leaned against her podium, resisting the urge to, once again, ask for them to stop saying that word. "If there was some there, that could've easily been from the suspect washing up - hands, arms, probably even gave depending on the force of the trauma. If we're establishing a timeline - which we should, I think - I'd put the bathroom as last. "

"On that subject..." Sophie said, "I... I wanna propose that... I don't think the murder... the murder didn't happen in the cafe, but rather in the hall outside of it. Maybe the killer... sat down with her and had coffee to... to ease her and... and... attacked her... and then... and then murdered her in the hallway outside..."

Sophie rushed a hand through her hair, "I-I'm sorry... that... that probably sounds dumb..."
