Marie's head hurt. This was way too much auditory input, too many people with too many conflicting ideas. She couldn't begin to follow them all, and after she'd made her own suggestion as to what happened, she seemed adverse to even attempting to find a moment in which she could speak again amidst all the commotion. She just shrunk into her shoulders, trying her best to follow what was going on. To add to the misfortune of it all, the bear hadn't even answered her as to why they were bothering with all of this in the first place, but she supposed she should've been used to that by now.
What followed, though, was a mix of fortunate and tiring. It came as a great relief to her when Clementine, Cater, and a couple of others seemed to approve of her messy theory. That was good, right? The latter even gave her a smile. She didn't like having people paying attention to her, but at least she'd seemed to have done something right. But at the same time, it also led to more questions being asked of her, which she hadn't really anticipated. She shifted on her feet a little, nodding shyly in response to Atsushi's reiteration of her words. "Yes," she confirmed, "but I'm not sure..."
A long, awkward pause followed, making it apparent that she was either struggling to find the words she needed again or that she was battling anxiety. Regardless of the reason, she eventually did manage a response to Pinkie and Clementine. "Couldn't they have taken her clothes from the machine?" she wondered. "Or, um... the one they share their room with, or perhaps their partner - they would've been able to get them, right?" She didn't know if that was true or not. She, Cater, Shinoa and Nana had all spent a lot of time in each others rooms, so if the same went for Trixie, it didn't seem impossible.
"Um, so... if the machine was used around midnight..." Her voice trailed off, but the meaning was clear: it was likely that that was around the time the kill took place. If so, the killer would've had plenty of time to clean themselves up as well as to tamper with things with great precision while everyone was still asleep, given they weren't supposed to meet for breakfast until around 8am. The partner thing still didn't make sense to her, just as most of this didn't- but there was one thing that seemed a little strange about it. After another long bout of silence while the room filled with bickering, she eventually managed to find her voice again, albeit quieter than before. She looked like she didn't have much left in her as far as speaking up to help out went.
"The matter of the partners... doesn't it make sense? If the strange device is broken, we can't see who an unopened last message is from to know who her real one was." In other words, it was likely a way to insure that nobody would know the partner list had been messed with in the first place. If that was what the killer had been getting at, it seemed to have worked, given that Claude now had fingers pointed at him as well. Plus, it wasn't as though the physical partners list would've been easy to mess with, given they'd all had to stick together. But, then, Marie couldn't even follow whether or not these people had been following the partner rules anymore.
