Fantasy ~ FableWood ~

Quincy gave a nod, not realizing that Alexander couldn't see her. A few deep breaths later, she sent an arrow straight for the chink in his armor, with enough force to bury it halfway up the shaft if it stayed true. Her next few arrows were less hard, but just as straight on. She only prayed they would hit their mark. She reached down to help Anya on, ready for whatever they had planned. She was distracted momentarily by catching sight of a familiar Elven face. The warrior elf Wai clearly recognized her, even in the heat of battle, and she tapped Alexander as he started running toward her. Fly! She thought, slightly panicked by the situation, even when there was 'worse' things happening.

Alexander nodded in response to her urging, and took off again, quickly. He headed in the direction that Anya directed him, unsure of where exactly they were heading. 'What was wrong, Quincy? Something seemed to trouble you. Something that wasn't the fighting below, it seemed.' He thought at her, curiously.

Anya, meanwhile, didn't realize that the dragon simply read minds, so she was busy calling directions up to Alexander as they flew. The way was not entirely clear, and there were many enemies between them and where they were heading. Anya had no ranged weapons to fight with, and nothing to hold her to the dragon, so she clung to Quincy in front of her as Alexander fought in the air with a large black dragon, and three dread ravens approached from off of Alexander's left wing.

Seeing the dark dragon ahead, Alexander soared up, aiming his claws for his foe's wings. No one knew better than a dragon the weaknesses of another dragon.

Quincy grimaced at his ability to read her, glamcing down at the confused warrior. We'll talk later. Its complicated and there are more important things now. She quickly thought back, biting her lip softly. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw approaching ravens. The kelpie drew and fired, knocking the first out of the sky. The next two were dispatched quickly after and Quincy took hold of Anya's arm, holding the girl tight to herself as Alexander took on the enemy dragon.

Banba let herself be pushed back, avoiding stepping on her teammates. She looked around, realizing she didn't see Leo. Letting the others finish off the general, Banba shrunk to Leo's size, conscious of the growing wound. She quickly found the guardian, and stood in front of him looking around anxiously at how much he was bleeding. She glanced out to the battlefield, seeing the water spirit attached to Leia's arm. She dashed out, staring at the spirit for an opportunity to grab it, planning to run back to Leo with it.

Alexander and the other dragon tussled through the air. Alexander fought, trying to keep in mind his two passengers. He accepted Quincy's delay on answering for now. His claws finally found their mark, and he tore through the thin membrane of the other dragon's wings, sending it spiraling down to into the ground with a loud cry. "I am sorry, but you chose to fight, brother.' Alexander thought to the other dragon, before heading back towards where Anya was directing him. He dodged foes here and there, fighting them when they got in his way.

Anya couldn't help but to let out a scream as the dragon fought. Riding bareback on a fighting dragon was thrilling and terrifying. Her cry was half from glee and half from fear. It was like a roller coaster- but much wilder and with no garuntee of survival. She clung to Quincy with every ounce of her strength, hoping that she wasn't too in the way of the other girl. Eventually that fight was won, but there were more to come.

(That'll be my last post for the night. I suppose we'll jump into more action when
@DawnAntalios responds about the last general guy! Goodnight!)

((@DawnAntalios the water spirit (Leia's new friend) basically fell in a deluge over the demon's head to put out the fire, I didn't read that you responded to that, but next post plz? I shall do something else with the spirit now. :3 ))

Lee recovered from her attack to find something grabbing at her (which didn't do much good as the hands passed straight through her body. It did however get the attention of Leia, who ran to Banba as soon as she saw.

Leo was hidden behind a bit of cover, a deep gash on his back welling with blood. The water spirit draped herself over the lion like a shawl, glowing to repair as much of the damage as possible.

When the wound was patched Lee curling about in front of him, tilting her head quizzically. Leia noticed that she was smaller now, she should have guessed that healing and fighting would take a toll on the creature.

"Leo, how are you feeling?"

Suddenly she noticed she could see his face more clearly. She turned her head to the horizon to find it growing light.

Back at the castle the barrier was beginning to fall away. The elven archers did their best to defend the casters who kept it alive, but the rain of enemies was relentless.

Briar readied her sword, prepared to fight to the death. Prince Fior was just beside her, and August the unicorn for he would not leave her side for all the pleading, begging and threatening he received. Suddenly there was a great shout from the ramparts of the castle.

"The sun! The sun! Dawn approaches!!!"

Briar looked to the eastern skyline and nearly laughed with relief. Dawn meant a respite from the strongest enemy attacks. Perhaps the army may even retire during the day, but she would not allow herself to hope for that much. At any rate they needed it. The healers were drained and Alta could barely stand, but she refused to leave the sides of the dying. The unicorns looked fit to collapse as well, keeping the shield up for the entire night.

Briar looked out onto the shattered city. Some places were very much intact, some no longer standing. She felt herself worry about the humans and their guardians. Where were they? Were they safe? A scout had told her that last they had been seen fighting a monstrous demon...only time would tell now if her questions would come to good answers.

(( yes yes Dawn approaches and I am here. Much pun very wow, you guys post at 4 am for me! :P Also @KattRai yes there will be one more general, but I thought that we - well you - should rest before he/she comes in ))

In a last desperate attempt Urgash tried to use his hellish fires to fend off his attackers but something icy cold extinguished his flames constantly, driving him into a desperate rage. When he heard the voice of Erzaul in his head he bowed it in shame - then looked up with maddened fury.

Lifting his one last good blade he raised it high with a battle cry - then drove it through his own heart.

In that moment torrent of shadow and flame poured out from the leaking wound as the general cried out in anguish. His entire body was covered in shadowflame, matched only by the darkest hells and his sacrifice given him one last chance to serve the dark lord - for a short time his sacrifice has granted him the ultimate power over death to kill his enemies before he perishes.

" Even death bows before the dark lord! " he roared as he broke free from his bonds, standing up now, looking at the others. Throwing away his weapons he now drew power from his leaking heart now, engulfing everything with a choking mist of darkness or in an inferno. If he would die he would go out in a blaze of glory.

Both Luness and Falarion were surprised when the demon suddenly pierced himself with his own sword. Pulling out their battle claws from his body, Luness and Falarion leaped a few feet away and turned around to watch the demon's demise.

Yet, there was a flash and then suddenly the two werebeasts were engulfed in flames. Yowling and whining, Luness stumbled backwards and then to the ground, writhing about in a futile attempt to get the flames off her body. The flames began burning patches through Luness' armor, but her paws, or feet, were burned first, the fur quickly dissipating and then her skin was began to blister in the agonizing heat from the flames.

Falarion roared when the flames licked his legs, burning fur and blistering his skin. He stumbled forward and then fell onto his hands and knees, howling in pain.

Both of the werebeasts quickly realized that in the heat of the fire, their metal battle claws were quickly heating up and beginning to burn the fur and skin on their hands far worse than anywhere else on their bodies.

The other packmembers in the vicinity dropped to their knees as tendrils of darkness enveloped them and they began to choke on the mist engulfing them.

Leo sat against the wall as blood dripped down his back and onto the street below. He continued to listen to the others fight the dark lord several times trying to stand back up and throw himself back into the battle to help his friends, each time falling back to the ground out of dizziness and pain. His eyes began to grow heavy, the blood loss taking its toll on him. For a moment, he thought Banba was standing in front of him, but she was gone in a blur. Seconds; minutes; hours; seemed to pass before she returned with another shape entered his view. Something floated through the air and enveloped him across his chest and back, and slowly he could feel the warmth of Leia's familiar healing his wound. He sighed with relief as the pain disappeared and his body was able to relax. Though still week from the energy loss, Leo raised his head and was able to focus on the trio that had helped him as Leia spoke. "Much better thanks to you three" his usual deep voice being replaced by a much softer version. "Is the demon dead yet?" Leo was just about to turn his head around the corner of his make shift shelter before a glimmer in the sky caught his eye. He turned to see the suns rays beginning to poke themselves through. This could sway the battle in our fav... His thought was caught short by the horrific sound of the general piercing himself. He turned around the corner of the cover and saw as the generals shadow fire and tendrils begin to spread. Leo stuck his arm out to keep Leia and Banba back so they would not get hit with any of the shadow fire if it made it over towards them.

Elena found some success as her attack took the demons ability to dodge and allowed Leia and Ward the final blow. For a moment, seeing the light seep into the tree line, bringing hope and color to the dark inky castle town. It didn't last long though.

The demon stabbed himself with his sword, spilling out extricating heat and mist. Flames licked her forearms and legs as she guarded her face, then thrust her arms forward, attempting to ignore the pain of lifting her right.

Immediately, she had the earth around them shoot up and cover the demon, squeezing him to suffix are the flames. Then waves of stone lifted over each of the group members she saw, trying to shield them. The toxic smog however, was too heavy for her. She doubled over, choking on the fumes but didn't allow any of her walls to give. As they were compromised by the demons flames, more earth came up mixed with scraps of stone and the metal left from the gargoyles. Elena prayed it would hold.

Riae had been fighting on the sky tearing dragons down. She had heard a scream from a large demon and she flew over landing by Leo. She saw to smog and flapped her wings to make it head away from them.

Leia stared in horror at the sight before her. Dark mist seeped about her feet and a noise could be heard, growing louder like a forest aflame. Leo stepped in front of her protectively, but she could see things were going to end very badly here.

"Everyone get clear!" She shouted. "RUN!!"

Ward drew back, confusion apparent on his avian face. When more flames began emerging from the demon he dashed back. Elena tired to smother them and it was effective long enough for him to avoid serious burns. He heard Leia yell and leapt for Elena, his intention to scoop her up and take flight.

With the last bits of his remaining power Urgash broke free from the prison he was locked in and started to move slowly towards the heroes. Seeing the gryphon in the sky he was to strike now, to annihilate him and all his companions. Putting together his two hands a dark blast was unleashed, stronger than any before he used, dashing towards Ward and the others.

But right before the impact the spell fizzled and dissipated harmlessly as Urgash fell to his knees.

" In life... victory. " he muttered " In death... glory... "

And with that the gigantic demon fell forward, causing one minor earthquake before his body finally fell limp and lifeless. The black blood of the demon now flew out of his body, searing the ground wherever it touched. The massive armor plated fell off from his colossal body, shattering on the ground from the impact. Urgash, the trusted servant of the dark lord and the general of the demon army was vanquished.

Elena watched the stone and metal fall away too easily. Discouragement fueled her attempts to keep it up to no avail, and spots dances before her vision as the smog suffocated. And as her eyes slid closed to blink them away, she saw the demons escape. She was safe though. Looking around, she recognized soft down. Her burns weren't as bad as before so the contact was more comforting than anything.

"Ward..? Did we win? Is he gone?" She asked, trying to figure out the situation as she shifted up a little.

"Mornings coming, right?"

When the demon general summoned the dark blast to wipe out the heroes once and for good, Luness and Falarion were still writhing about on the ground in the hellish flames that wouldn't go away.

Dissipating within feet of the two werebeasts, the dark wave was no more and the hellish flames and shadowy tendrils all dissipated with it, bringing relief to Luness and her pack.

Slowly opening her eyes, Luness winced when she looked down at her hands and paws, seeing her charred skin and loss of fur. Luness' heart skipped a beat in pain when she tried to move her hands and realized that her battle claws had heated up so much that they had fused a bit with the skin on her hands. Glancing over the rest of her body, Luness noticed a few random patches of her armor had burned through and now were exposing her freshly burned skin.

Glancing over at Falarion, Luness saw that he was in better shape in that his armor had protected him from the flames, though his hands and paws were as bad as Luness'. Luckily, both of their heads had been spared any burns. Yet, Luness heard and felt the demon's fall, relief washing over her at the realization that it was over.

Suddenly, she heard roaring beside her and sharply looked to see that some of the demon's blood had landed on Falarion's left foot and was now burning through his foot. Eyes wide, Luness struggled to her feet to help, only to fall back down as agony seared through her hands and paws.

The remaining packmembers finally were able to catch their breaths upon the vanquishing of the demon general and the disappearance of the shadowy tendrils. Looking around, they were all calm for a moment until they saw their pack leader and Falarion suffering. Scrambling on all fours, the packmembers quickly surrounded the two and worriedly looked between them, completely unsure of what to do.

Luness wasted no time in hissing orders to them, "Get Falarion to Alta, now!" "If you can, find me some cool water as well..." She trailed off while saying this, warily eyeing her burnt skin on her hands and paws as well as various parts of her body.

While Luness had her own burn injuries, she'd be able to deal with them. Falarion needed his foot taken care of before he possibly would need to get something to replace it.

The packmembers launched into action, two of them helping Falarion along, as they rushed him to the castle. The rest of them scattered into the nearby houses, scrambling to find some source of cool water for Luness.

Ward looked over his shoulder in surprise. He was powerless to stop the attack. He shut his eyes, holding Elena tight...but the blow never came.

Pivoting in mid air he let out a breath, touching down on his hind legs and balancing with outstretched wings so he could still hold Elena.

"Yes...dawn is here. The demon is dead...the fight is won." Suddenly he hugged her tightly, overcome with relief.

"And you are safe."

A soothing wave of healing water hit Luness and her pack member with an audible slosh as Lee hovered over them. Pouring the last of her givable energy into a purification enchantment. It could no longer repair flesh, but it would sooth pain and prevent further damage from the fire and acid.

@Lioness075

Leo watched as the barriers went up around the demon to try and keep everyone safe, but before he was able to breath a sigh of relief the barriers were destroyed. He heard Leia shout for them to run, but there was no way Leo could even stand in his weakened state. He stood and closed his eye, ready for whatever was to come next from the tyrant. When nothing happened, Leo opened his eye to see the monster on the ground, blood pouring out of the wounds they had inflicted. Leo slumped his shoulders and lifted his head to the sky watching the daylight emerge. Well, that's one down... he thought back to the creature that had nearly taken Luness and Nyr from them, not realizing that he had slumped back to the ground from exhaustion once again. He sat and continued to watch the sun light, basking in its warmth to try and absorb and energy he could.

Banba stared, wide eyed as the water spirit draped itself over Leo, ignoring the calls about the sunrise. He needed to be safe, and he was obviously exhausted. Feeling the demon general fall, Banba looked over the group, seeing how beaten and bloody they were. She turned back to Leo.

"The snake does no burrow its head, but the worm does." She stated, though she intended it to be a question.

@zCrookedz

Hearing the loud crash and the following silence Nyr knew that the fight was over. Her allies have fought valiantly and have vanquished the demon... now it was her turn to aid them. Picking up her golden scythe she flew above the battlefield where she saw the smoldering corpse of the dead general. Looking at the wounded allies her eyes watered as she raised her weapon to the sky.

" Mother Moon! Lend me your strength, let me be your beacon to heal my friends! "

The sky parted as a single ray of moon lighted the raven who now turned to the wounded and opened her arms. In the next moment gentle moonlight filled the battlefield, soothing the pain and healing what she could. Mother Moon was true to her word: she lent her her strength but also drained Nyr's. After giving all she could she flew down to the ground, panting heavily. She felt as drained as if she were fighting with the others. Smiling she looked at them.

" You... were simply amazing! " she said with joy " You vanquished one of the strongest demons! "

Before the packmembers could rush Falarion to the castle, Lee brought some relief to him, but the damage to him was still very evident. One of the packmembers nodded at Lee in thanks and then they turned to leave, but again were stopped by Nyr's sudden appearance. While the two packmembers held Falarion up on his one good foot, they paused to let Nyr's healing wash over Falarion.

While Falarion's burns and the acid wound to his foot were healed to a degree, he still needed medical attention. With that in mind, the two packmembers rushed Falarion to the castle now, intent on finding Alta to aid Falarion.

Luness, on the other hand, was feeling much better with both Lee and Nyr's heaing. Her burn wounds scattered across her body were soothed under the healing and then with Nyr's aid, the flesh was able to mend itself a bit. Though, Luness' battle claws were still melted into her skin a bit.

Not too long after the healing though, Luness' remaining packmembers returned with two buckets of cool water. One packmember kneeled ebhind Luness and carefully propped her up against his knee so she was sitting upright now. Two other packmembers then quickly took Luness' hands and dunked both of them into the cool waters, bringing a hiss of both relief and pain from Luness in response.

Elena sighed a breath of relief, holding onto the griffin, in a hug. One arm was wrapped loosely around Ward while the other hung loosely.

"And you're okay, right?" She asked with concern.

Looking over the towns ruin she frowned.

"I'd like to help reconstruct immediately. With my powers I think I can be useful."

Quincy looked down as moonlight bathed the world. It seemed that only a few minions of the dark remained on the ground and they were being hunted by the elves and the forces of the city. The great general had fallen and their comrades were healing themselves. The giant demon is dead. We should find and attack the last general while we can, before another wave of underlings or a retreat. She thought to Alexander, sending an arrow at a dread raven on their tail. “Keep giving directions, we need to hurry." She told Anya, having to raise her voice over the rush of the wind.

(Not sure what the plan is for the enemy, if they are going to attack again or retreat. Will edit if this doesnt fit with what they do.)

Leo watched the moonlight cover the area, thanking the moon for her assistance. He was feeling slightly better but the blood loss still made it hard for him to stand. None the less he got to his feet and slowly made his way over to the fallen general. He looked over the corpse, looking for the chink in his armor. He found his handy work and the hilt of his blade stuck into it. He gave it a few tugs, the blood coating the blade making an excellent lubricant. The blade let loose and Leo examined it for any damage. once satisfied that the foul blood hadn't done to much damage to the blade, he wiped off the edge on a piece of the corpses cloth and replaced the blade into its home. He looked around and spied banba over where he had been covered, "Banba, would you mind terribly giving me a hand back to the castle? I think i should get some rest before we try this little stunt again." He chuckled, the slight heaving making his ribs ache slightly.

Erzaul watched closely as Urgash perished by the hands of the so called heroes. They intrigued him - especially the werecat whose mind he already assaulted. One more attempt and he would convert her to join their side permanently... but that had to wait. Now that the general was dead he needed to devise an another plan how to deal with them. And hearing the steps behind him he smiled as he knew the answer already.

" Back so soon, Lady Nerzyyl? " he asked as he turned around to see the demoness in a large, hooked cloak which covered her whole body.

" He had failed us, my lord. " she noted dully " Not entirely unexpected but he was still somewhat valuable. "

" And I presume you want to take care of them personally? " Erzaul asked.

" Maybe. " she said " In due time, my lord. I shall make my introductions soon enough. "

With that she vanished from sight. The archdemon smiled. Everything was going according to plan... "

"I am all right." He said, shrinking back down into his human form. He set her gently back on the ground, keeping a steadying hand on her shoulder. His face was burned in a patch on his chin and just above one eye and he felt a myriad of cuts and bruises singing their pain across his body, but he could walk and if need be he could carry Elena.

When she said she wished to help rebuild he could not keep the doting admiration out of his eyes. "I fear there are more pressing things to be done,we have taken the battle, but the war is not over. Our enemies will be back. We must rest and then prepare."

@Bea Delaine

He gave Nyr a relieved look. Happy that she was herself again.

"Let us go and find Briar. I daresay we could all use a turn at the healers' tents as well."
