Fantasy ~ FableWood ~

Luness eyed Kallin worriedly, his tone and statement only worrying her further. He clearly needed to rest and catch his breath.

Yet, Ward suddenly shouted over the crowd, surprising Luness and taking her attention away from Kallin in the moment.

Listening to everything Ward said, Luness was even more so surprised that the gem in King Cedric's sword held such power. How could one measly gem determine such a thing? Magic was so unusual sometimes.

Still, what Ward said was true, as not too long after he grabbed the sword, it suddenly blinded everyone in the room with a blinding flash, leaving Luness growling, as it affected her more so than some other people. Enhanced senses could really be detrimental sometimes.

Hearing a commotion nearby and then a female tone, Luness felt her heart skip a beat, as she instantly recognized that someone was up to no good. Problem was, she couldn't see anything yet.

Furiously blinking to try and bring back her vision, Luness finally was able to see blurry picture just as the woman threw Ward out of a window and into the garden just beyond.

Gasping in surprise at such actions, Luness wasted no time in dropping to all fours, again hating her dress for its lack of mobility, as she sprinted after the woman.

Her vision was still blurry and so Luness bumped into a few guests along the way until she was suddenly airborne and sailing straight through the window after the evil queen, fully intent on surprising her and tackling her to the ground. After all, who would expect a werecat in a dress to come flying through a window after them?

Leandra was relieved when she finally heard Leo saying he was all right and swiveled her head to see his paw sticking up just beyond the edge of the stage.

Rushing over to him, Leandra jumped over his body and off of the stage before turning around and looking him over. He had definitely hit his head from the way he was speaking. Probably a concussion, too.

Wasting no time, Leandra put her hand on Leo's forehead and closed her eyes, her palm glowing for a moment, as her healing rushed over him and soothed any and all wounds he'd sustained. Luckily, there hadn't been many and the concussion hadn't taken much energy for Leandra to heal. Perhaps her healing was getting stronger now.

Suddenly hearing Ward shouting over the crowd, Leandra stayed by Leo's side, as she listened to everything Ward said and watched as he took the king;s sword. Knowing he was truly the heir, Leandra covered her eyes in anticipation of whatever the gem may do, so she was shielded from the blinding light when it shone.

The moment the duke began shouting in an odd tone, Leandra was on edge and standing once more, as she nervously watched him.

Yet, there was nothing Leandra could do when the duke was revealed to be the evil queen and she nearly choked Ward to death before Leandra could sprint over in time to stop her, as Ward was soon flying through a window and the queen was going after him.

Watching Luness fly through the window with ease by simply jumping through it, Leandra sighed and turned around to ask Brenna, who was nearby, "Care to give me a lift, Brenna?"

At the very least, Leandra could possibly trip the queen with her staff or maybe land a lucky shot to the head and knock her unconscious. Who knows?

While waiting, Leandra subconsciously itched at her back, scowling at the irritation in such a moment. She really didn't need to deal with such a thing right now. Honestly.

Yet, just after asking Brenna this, Leandra heard Otto barking furiously nearby and glanced over to see him making a ruckus about someone acting all shady and such. They really didn't have time for this though. Ward was in real danger right now and so he was their main focus. Not whoever that person was.

Achyls' vision eventually focused, though was still partially blurry in places due to head pain. She smiled at Quincy, though it looked much more like a wince than she intended.

"I can hear you..." she mumbled, trying to look head on at the kelpie, "...who...who did this?". As she felt her head being lifted, she forced herself to see the scene before her. It seemed even more serious than before, though she had no idea who the woman was. Her form was intimidating to see the least, almost regal in her stature. I couldn't have been the queen Ward spoke of...could it? Even if it were, she was in no shape to help, she needed to focus on those who could help her.

She let out a pained gasp, as the burn shot acute pain across her chest. There was very little fat where the attack hit, so impact was also an issue. Though, somewhere her mind was telling her that it would soon be over, and so she tried to stop herself worrying.

@Flutterby

Arianne panted heavily as she watched the events unfold. She saw the duke almost suffocating Ward then transforming into her true form. She felt massive power emanating from the queen and she cursed how foolhardy she was. She depleted all her energy before the final, meaningful fight. Knowing that she could barely do anything she crawled to Achyls who was near Quincy, checking on her wounds.

It was then when she noticed the pain of the raven and she placed her tiny hands on Achyls' chest. Feeling her very life essence being transferred to heal she gasped but pushed on regardless, trying to heal the raven girl. When she was finished she smiled weakly at her.

" Please, Lady Achyls... " she started, needing to stop to catch her breath " Stop... the queen... "

@SkywardSocks @Flutterby

Nyr almost screamed in horror as she saw Ward soaring through the air and she glared at the evil queen. She felt dark energies swirling in her chest as she was ready to unleash a punishing, destructive force on the monstrous being but she restrained herself. Remembering her ire against Leo's mentor she now felt compelled to act carefully and slowly instead from wrath. As she soothed herself she felt the light returning, now uniting with the darkness within her. A grey glow surrounded the dread raven as she stepped before Ward, staring directly at the queen.

" If you lay one more finger on my friend I will annihilate you yourself. " she said calmly, yet with a rather menacing tone as she lifted her hand. She knew that alone she would not stand a chance against the sorceress... but she would not back down from a fight.

@SilverFlight

Elena felt her luck run out when it seemed the situation was settled. The Duke had no right and now he was going to take the throne? No. Ward stood and spoke the truth. She stood by him as he held the hilt of the sword and the color changed from blue to gold. Her eyes went to scan for any older woman who might look to hurt him. She was very caught off gaurd when the Duke himself attacked Ward.

"Ward!! No."

She herself dove through the window, furniture making her way to get through. When she was through her feet touched a collection of garden plants which wove together and moved her down to Ward. Once she was there, she lowered herself down and ran a hand through his hair and down his cheek, her expression losing its initial softness as she reminded herself why and how she fights.

"Alright.. Why don't you come take him, you foul thing? I can promise you won't get far without a head though."

She said this with a small smile and stood, summoning her sword and then sprinting towards the queen. Roots and vines followed without her having to think about it, to help give her foot hold off the ground and propell her forward. Only the end product. She spotted Luness making her same entry and decided to swing a short low cut from the left to completely avoid the werecat and hopefully allow the queen to fall more into her blade.

Kallin did not even have time to shout as Luness took off after the queen and Ward. Instead of jumping through the window however he used a blast of air to blow the doors open and rushed out into the darkness.

The queen looked down triumphantly on Ward, who shook his giant, feathered head to clear it from the jolt of the impact. His throat was still on fire from where she had crushed it and breathing was painful. Suddenly Elena was standing before him, shielding him from another assault by the queen.

The evil sorceress opened her mouth as if to say something in retort when Luness' paws slammed into her back. She gave a cry even as Elena lunged forward, sword drawn. Suddenly she vanished, no, not vanished, turned into mist! The black, acrid cloud dodged to the side, reforming as the queen once more.

Ward had barely got to his feet before she launched a new spell, this one tore apart an iron gate, spiked posts turned toward the gryphon and shot forward, intent on spearing him and Nyr, who now stood to protect him as well.

"She's too powerful to take one on one!" Kallin called. "We've got to do this together!" Not that he could do much at all in his human state, but he did know how to duel another mage. The trick was to find their crutch spell and exploit the caster's dependency on it. Every mage had a fallback spell they used, if they could only find it out.

Brenna leapt the small distance to Leandra's side and knelt. "Get on!"

After that she threw them both into the air with her powerful wings, two beats and she folded them tight, taking herself and Leandra through the window. The queen had dodged by that point and Brenna flared her wings to carry Leandra safely to the ground.

@DawnAntalios @Lioness075 @Bea Delaine

Luness grinned when she struck the queen's back and took her by surprise, but the grin quickly vanished when the queen became mist and dodged to the side, leaving Luness headed straight for the ground.

Luckily, Luness was a werecat and so she nimbly landed on all fours before skidding to a halt nearby, her heart still racing from the initial impact.

Seeing the spikes flying straight for Ward and Nyr, Luness let out a growl and then sprinted forward, doing the only thing she could think of in the moment.

Tackling Nyr to the side while hoping that Elena would protect Ward, or someone else would in the moment, Luness let out a yelp when she felt a burning and throbbing sensation in her left ankle.

Collapsing to the ground and leaving a bit of a trail in the dirt behind her, Luness then glanced at her ankle and whimpered when she saw the iron spike that had gone clean through her leg and the blood that was now pooling around her ankle and foot.

Gritting her teeth, Luness feebly tried to push herself into a sitting position only for her eyes to roll and then she collapsed with her back in the dirt once more, the loss of blood already beginning to effect her on top of the wound itself.

@SilverFlight @DawnAntalios

~~~~~
Leandra jumped off of Brenna's back with a brief "Thank you!" before she was already rushing forward while trying to take everything in at once.
Seeing the iron spikes headed for Ward, Leandra quickly called out to Elena, saying, "Elena, block those iron spikes from Ward! Hurry!"
Yet, Luness was quicker and got Nyr to safety just in time to be spiked herself. Leandra gasped and skidded to a halt for a moment before she began sprinting towards Luness, intent on healing her unless someone else did it first or someone prevented Leandra from reaching Luness.
@SilverFlight
"Lune!" Kallin dashed forward, putting himself between the queen and Luness, sliding on his knees as he reached her. He swore under his breath as he saw the damage to her ankle and turned, ready to defend her to the absolute while a healer came.
@Aldur Forgehammer
Elena cursed under her breath as the black smoke replaced her target. She quickly took off to protect Ward again. Her care for him was greater than bloodlust. The spikes began to rise to kill him and Elena stood before him, shouting,
"Ward! Stay behind me and duck!"
The earth under their feet shot upward and curled over them like a sheild to protect from one side. She only needed to slow it though. As the fencing pierced through the other side, she grabbed it when it reached her stomach and with whatever effort she had, she attempted to make it and the rest of the fence melt into her wall. She needed to take control from the queen though.
"Leandra! Get Luness away from harm. I have Ward covered."
Leandra nodded at what Elena said just as she reached Luness and Kallin.
Looking over Luness quickly, Leandra grimaced and closed her eyes for a moment before she said between clenched teeth, "Kallin, we're going to have to remove the spike from Luness' ankle else I can't heal it correctly."
The moment Leandra said this, Luness' eyes shot wide open and she whimpered before saying softly, "T-There has to be another way..."
Looking fearfully at Kallin, Luness silently pleaded with him to find another way even though she knew Leandra was right. They had to remove the object to heal the wound properly.
Yet, the mere thought of the pain that would come from such an action struck fear in Luness' heart and she felt it pounding while she folded her good ear against her head and resisted all urges to try and crawl away from the pair in fear of what was to come next.
@SilverFlight @Bea Delaine
Ward did as Elena told him and ducked. By the time the attacked receded both were safe and Ward had recovered enough to fight. The queen snarled angrily as control of the iron was ripped from her grasp. "How did you do that?!" She demanded. Then her expression turned to a cold one.
"No matter, that man dies tonight, along with any who defend him." Ward's eye hardened. He let out a low growl, tail lashing to and fro.
The queen spread her hands. In each one a sword sprouted, poisonous green flames erupted from the blades. She launched herself at Elena, one sword coming dead center while the other came down in a sweeping arc at her neck. It happened so fast Ward could barely register shock.
@Bea Delaine
Kallin placed a comforting hand on Luness' shoulder, the other holding the iron spike gingerly so it didn't move or weigh on the wound. "Shh, Lune, its okay, trust me."
He met her eyes, and his tone was uncharacteristically gentle. Moving to place one hand just by her wound he grasped the spike with the other.
"Take a deep breath, on three. One...two." On two he pulled it out, a lightning quick motion that gave her no time to register the shock before it was clear of the wound. He took off his jacket quickly and used it to staunch the bleeding, at the same time waiting for a possibly angry reaction from the werecat.
"Your turn healer." He smiled at Leandra.
@Lioness075
Luness let out another small whimper when Kallin put his hand on her shoulder, as she knew what was going to come next.
Sure enough, before Luness could even count to three with Kallin, he had yanked the spike out of her ankle, leaving it gushing blood on both ends of the wound.
Luness yelped at the action and would've probably punched Kallin in the face had she not already been weakened by the loss of blood. Instead, Luness dropped her head back onto the dirt and lay there panting in silence.
@SilverFlight
~~~~~

Leandra watched Kallin get the spike out of Luness and was rather pleased when the werecat didn't lash out at the mage. After all, Luness was going to be weak from this ordeal and so Leandra would rather have at least one person more than capable to rejoin the fight than have two injured people.

Moving to Luness' other side of her injured ankle, Leandra then gingerly placed her hands on either side of the bunched up jacket, which was quickly getting soaked in Luness' blood. It would no doubt be permanently stained and ruined after this.

Closing her eyes, Leandra then focused everything into her healing and both of her palms glowed brightly, as the muscles and blood vessels within Luness' ankle began reconnecting and fixing themselves as well as the bone fixing itself since it had been shattered in the attack, though the process was going to take a minute or two for sure.

Once the muscles had fixed themselves and the bone was no longer broken or in pieces, the skin began to come back and basically stitch itself together on Luness' ankle.

Yet, once everything was healed, Leandra felt a wave of dizziness rush over her for a moment and she suddenly let go of Luness' leg, as she sat back onto her butt and then held the side of her head for a moment until he dizziness was no longer present.

Blinking, Leandra then smiled at Kallin and then at Luness, as she said, "All done."

@SilverFlight

A small wooshing sound passed by the others as two small pink crystals blocked the swords. A tall woman adorned in gems head to toe, stepped closer trying to hold her crystals in place. "Move now!" The woman said in a strained voice, her concentration was slipping. There was a loud cracking sound as the two pink crystals began to crack as the sword began to split through them.

The woman opened her palm whereally six small crystals formed in her hands. She sent them towards the queen. The six small pink crystals flew by the others and surrounded the queen. They positioned themselves around her and then quite suddenly tuned to sharp needles. Which extend towards the enemy intending to pierce the Queen's heart.

Achyls filled with dread watching the little girl exhaust herself healing her.

"No...Arianne...I..." she could say not a word more, before her the pain in her chest began to dissipate. She put a hand to the burn, the seering heat had gone completely, but the marks remained. Thankfully, her headache had too surpassed, and she found the ability to get to her feet. She gave a smile to Arianne, placing a hand softly on her head, promising to heed her words.

She rushed towards the fray, running to aid the others. Watching Luness fall, she knew someone had to take her place, at least for a moment. She stood tall in front of the queen, just as a newcomer attacked their enemy. Letting out a gasp, she turned to see the newcomer, covered in strange stones. Smirking, she too joined the fight, taking to the air, focusing a large ball of dark energy aimed directly at the queen's head. Once it was the size of a baseball, she fired it, with twice the force of said batted ball.

A lithe figure leaned forward in the balcony.A glass of wine rested in its hand. Vinter wore a crimson dress, adorned with golden motifs. She wore a pure black mask covering only her right eye, similar to an eyepatch.She took a sip of the scarlet liquid, agitating it, trying to make out how old it was. It would have worked, had Vinter any clue about tasting wine. "What's a gal like myself gotta do for some rum?" She muttered under her breath. Of course, she didn't expect an answer. Soon before, she heard Lucille call for her. Vinter picked up her ornate pin and raised it to her mouth. "Do I have to?" She mocked and waited for a few moments before continuing. "I'll be there faster than you could say 'rum', sister. Don't worry." Vinter got up and left the balcony. She analyzed her surroundings in search for a place she could use to change out of the dress. Nothing. She removed her dress, revealing her attire. A dark leather top, covered by a blood-red piece of cloth. She wore baggy trousers lined with fur at the top, ending with a pair of sturdy hide boots. From the large dress, Vinter pulled a jacket, similar to the one she was wearing previously but this one had the left sleeve. She travelled through the maze-like structures. A scene unfolded before Vinter's eyes. Her companions were fighting the Evil Queen. Chaos unhinged. Vinter felt overwhelmed but grabbed her pistol and took aim at the Queen. She hesitated. Vinter took cover, hiding behind a wall. "Did you miss me, you land-lubbers?" She called out, trying to grab the attention of the other heroes.

Elena sighed with relief when she was able to stop the gates. She stood again and prepared for the next move to block from Ward. She was shocked when it was at her though.

She had not time to think and the green flames were menacing. She saw the blade at her neck first, and ducked back, turning a full 360 to slice the evil queens head off herself but as she came around, the other blade stabbed deep into her side, missing her chest. Elena doubled over and choked, the wound burning more than any normal stab.

She then glanced up at the queen and looked her in the eye. She grabbed the sword, ignoring the burn, and attempted to take control once more, making the metal seep into the queens hands and hold her still to face attacks. Coughing heavily, she spit at the ground to see red.

"You will never.. Ever touch my love. And if you do the consequence.. The consequence will be worse than death.."

She spoke breathily, trying to hold the queen in place to be vulnerable.

Verasha's heart thundered loudly as the shifted wolf threw itself onto the table, immediately trying to grab hold of the others' attentions. That simply wouldn't do - especially since the food had been knocked down onto the floor. Hearing the growls and barks though, it was obvious enough that she was a perceived threat ... now what was it that humans did when they meant no harm? Would the shifted one comprehend her actions, at this point? Then again, she did have wings to rely on should anything get too messy. With her mind made up, Verasha slowly strutted out from the shadows, her wings coming around, wrapping herself up, showing that she truly had no means to attack - him or anyone else. Besides, before the dark feathered harpy could get another word in something else was already in motion.

Brenna herself had barrelled through the room, and though the harpy was glad to see a somewhat familiar face, she truly did wish the circumstances were different. Hearing her winged friend's words though, Verasha turned her head towards the flurry of action that had exploded over the last few seconds. It all happened so fast. Someone was thrown out the window, the others following of course, iron spears were flying, someone else got caught in those though, and it seemed like many more were joining in on this fight against the very magical and evil queen.

With one last look at the shifted wolf, Verasha turned towards the shattered windows herself. There was many things that she would have liked to say - to ask - but perhaps now wasn't the best of times, if anything, she would have liked to offer her assistance, as little as it may be. The others had the Queen locked, magical abilities held at point blank, but Verasha's heart sank at the very sight, the queen could become intangible, and the attacks would be rendered completely useless. There had be someway of actually harming her, but how? With what?

Her attention was taken from her as another flew into the very chaotic scene, a pirate by the looks of it - noticing how she armed herself. Taking a page from the others' actions, Verasha took to higher ground, overwatching from above. Perhaps if the magical attacks were to fail, she would dive down ... yes, that sounded like a fine plan. Immediately, Verasha's eyes blinked rapidly, each time, her focus allowing her to zero in on the Queen. Her neck that is. Her wings bristled at the anticipation, and just once, she let her eyes trail over Brenna, flying overhead, before returning her focus back to the target.

@zCrookedz @everyone

The Queen grinned in triumph when her sword struck Elena's flesh. The fire seared as the blade bit deep. There was no more time to celebrate however as Elena growled her warning and the queen's own swords betrayed her, trying to trap her wrists and hold her to face the other attacks. She barely dodged the gems slicing toward her throat. One grazed the side of her neck and drew blood. Achyls' dark magic orb collided with the ground at her feet causing her to stagger back and breaking the link between her and her swords. Through the smoke Ward pounced, crashing into her with his shoulder and immediately turning his attention back to Elena.

He offered her a wing to help steady her.

Leia was on the scene then, dashing toward the pair as she had seen Elena get stabbed. Bob ran with tad and together they sent a tornado filled with rocks at the queen. The queen laughed and vanished as haze again, only to reappear in another place. Brenna reached Ward's side when Leia did.

"Ward! Are you hurt?" Then she realized Elena was the one with the wound. and made way for the water spirit.

"You're always saving me, aren't you?" Ward asked Elena with a smile, yet his eyes held regret. It seemed like she had been saving him since the Forest of Reflection, when she had saved him from himself. "Please don't be so reckless..I don't know what I would do if.." But he couldn't finish.

"We've got her Ward, go kick butt!" Leia grinned. Ward nodded and turned to dash back into the fight.

Brenna met Elena's eyes, saying a silent thank you and she stayed by Elena as Lee tried to stop the worst of the bleeding.

Then Brenna's gaze turned skyward and she caught the eyes of the harpy she had been working with. She raised a wing and brought it down, a signal to engage the enemy.

@S N O W B I R D

Kallin nodded his gratitude to Leandra before turning back to Luness.

"Can you stand? I've got to get you out of here."

At the sound of Vinter's voice he called back "What took you so long V?!" and then, "What are you waiting for? Shoot her already!"

@Aldur Forgehammer

Ward stopped a moment to see king Cedric striding across the ruined garden, sword in hand. He looked a formidable sight, scars across the left side of his face, his formal attire looking more like a general's uniform than a court outfit. His stance as he stopped to face her spoke of years of experience with a sword. Ward noticed he stopped beside him. The man whom he had just proven his father.

"Give up Demona, you've already lost." He turned to Ward, his eyes bright and full of pride. "My son has come back. You have no claim to the kingdom."

But the queen was far from finished. She growled in frustration. "You all want to die? Fine! After I dispose of you I will take this kingdom by force!"

She spread her hands again and suddenly the ground began to ooze with a thick, sticky black substance. The stuff caught Wards paws and snared the king's feet and anyone else in the vicinity.

"What is this stuff?" Leia asked, trying to help Elena avoid the growing pool of it.

Ward struggled but he could not lift his legs.

Leo's head and vision seemed to swirl in and out until Leandra was there and began to heal him. Leo sighed as the pain disappeared and he felt his head going back to normal. Before he knew it though, the place erupted into chaos once more. The queens powers were impressive to say the least, and while the others fought valiantly against her, it only seemed to make her more angry.

Leo stood up and made his way over to the smashed window and looked at the field below. He could see Elena and the queen engaged in battle and he knew he had to get down there. Leo looked around and found a table relatively close. He grabbed the leg of the table and smashed it against the ground, raising the mangled and splintered end of the table leg and turned back to the queen. He charged out of where Ward had been thrown outside. He lept out of the window landing on the gardens below. As he ran towards the Queen, he watched the ground begin to change and Leo jumped to the air, his table leg raised high to bring down on the queen.

@Bea Delaine @SilverFlight

Otto watched as the Harpy emerged from the shadows and as she did, seemed to display that she was not a threat. Otto stopped making a racket and watched as the Harpy jumped into the air and seemed to be poised to help them. Otto looked across the room as the queen and the others left the ballroom and went through the window. He dropped his ears to his head and jumped off the table and onto the floor and began to sprint towards the hole in the window and into he garden below.

He was not very fond of this lady and the fact that she had already hurt so many of his friends was not helping his mood. As he sprinted across the garden, he felt the little bit of anger for hurting his friends began to grow and grow. With that he felt something dark within begin to grow and fester, something like an old wound opening up. His vision began to narrow on the queen, his target, his prey. He felt his fangs began to grow as he used his speed and the strength accumulating in his legs to leap up and over the black ooze on the ground, aiming for the queens throat.

A surge of energy made her giddy. This battle was going to be more interesting than she thought. As the black ooze began to spread, she found herself lucky she was up at such a height.

"Leo!" she gasped, as the guardian pounced at the queen, "I won't let her evade you!"

She dived, creating a whip of dark magic as she flew towards the queen. Throwing the coil around her, she prevented her escape, allowing Leo an opportune moment to strike. It was difficult to keep her steady, and with every twist and turn more of her power was draining trying to hold her there. But it was worth it, to be able to see the light in her enemy's eyes fade at the hands of none other than Panthera Leo. This was a sight she could not afford to miss.

@zCrookedz @SilverFlight

Elena felt the blood run up in her throat and inhaling hurt as she queen and her pulled away, opening the wound to air. Her vision blurred and she held onto Ward for support when he arrived. She held her side in vain as blood darkened her dress and the ground. She felt maybe something important was hit this time.

"Don't.. Worry. I will always be this reckless.. But I have you.."

She said between breaths, then looked at Brenna and Leia.

"I have them too.."

She gave Ward a smile, then Brenna. Then as soon as Leia started healing her, Elena's legs gave out and she dropped dead weight. The water felt cool and soothing. She looked up at Brenna when her vision began to blur.

"Keep Ward safe.. I want to see my fiancé when this is over.."

Then she shut her eyes and the color in her face drained, but the bleeding stopped.

Every muscle in Verasha tightened, ready to burst into action, when everything changed again. Instead of allowing frustration and irritation to overwhelm her senses, Verasha let a slanted grin appear on her face, this was, after all fast paced combat, something she wouldn't dare frown upon or speak ill of. If anything, the harpy felt quite alive, every feather on her almost physically thrumming to the chaotic vibrations from the fight. Catching her 'go' signal, Verasha was ready to try and run her sharp 'talons' through the Queen's neck, only to hesitate when the Queen unleashed a wave of snaring ooze at the heroes - and the king! Oh, what a mess...

Luckily, a few of them seemed to have avoided the worst - some, still trying to find safe grounding. Turning her eyes sharply to the Queen, Verasha was grateful to find another at the Queen's throat - and this time, a fellow predator, whose fangs would hopefully be able to tear at the Queen's throat. With the enemy otherwise engaged - distracted at best, sadly - Verasha flew down quickly, and upon reaching just above ground level, above the gooey mess that might have otherwise trapped her, the harpy's wings stretched wide, her wingspan scarily reaching far out before she began to beat her wings, each beat drawing forth stronger bursts of wind. Soon enough, the slow beats of her wings gained speed, until a small, and mild storm was brewing just below the tips of her wings.

It was not meant to attack, and would suffice, she decided as she lifted her head and directed the small, but strong burst of winds to where some of the trapped heroes were. Her priority was first - the King, and the one called Ward of course. The winds shuffled silently above the black ooze, causing small ripples until it worked its way under and around the griffons paws, and the king's feet, levitating them just above the ooze that threatened to ground them. That was two down ... and how many more to free? More importantly, how much time did she have until the Queen broke free of the shifter that held her down at the moment?

@SilverFlight @everyone

Trapped, held and being attacked from three sides the queen growled in frustration.

"You think you can stop me?!" She yelled. "You haven't even begun to witness my power!" She crouched down and for a moment Ward was confused. The ooze seemed to be lessening, allowing him to pull free at least in part. This king (because his weight was only on two legs) was having a harder time.

He watched the queen and suddenly she began to grow. Vicious red spikes ripped through her attire down her back. Her limbs thickened and several more grew from her torso. her sking became blue-green and scaly and her face lengthened into the thick snout of a reptilian creature.

When she spoke again her voice was deep and rough. "Let's see how well you deal with a basilisk!"

The furniture leg Leo wielded broke upon her back as if it was made of plaster and Otto now had to contend with thick, scaly armour.

She turned her head, grabbing Achyls dark whip between her teeth and pulling down hard, intent on tearing the raven from the sky and into the ooze.

"Don't look into her eyes! Her gaze will turn you to stone!" The king cried.

Basilisk.jpg

Brenna and Leia exchanged glances as they heard Elena speak. Leia's mouth was open and despite the dire situation she smiled.

"Fiance? Then..Oh my god!" She clapped a hand over her mouth, where Brenna shifted the unconscious form of Elena to a safe place.

"Well then Leia, you best watch my future daughter-in-law. I won't have her come to harm." Leia, the grin still broad on her face saluted. "Count on it. Take my spirits with you."

With that Brenna nodded and leaped skyward to join the others in battle.

When the queen transformed Brenna's eyes grew wide. "The basilisk...the one that attacked me all those years ago..."

The king looked to Brenna and he froze, recognition dawning on his scarred face. The queen in her new grotesque form laughed. "That's right...I was the basilisk, I almost succeeded in ending you before you could ever have been a thorn in my side."

"You scarred the king!" Brenna said, outrage apparent in her voice. A captain of the guard more than twenty years ago she had given up everything in service to the king, to protect him. When she herself had been attacked by that monster and the king had been injured on her behalf it had infuriated her. Now, to see the very woman who had schemed her way to the throne beside him had been the one who had hurt him without a second thought. It set her blood boiling again.

The queen tried to fix her with a stare but Brenna knew better and looked away. King Cedric slapped a hand over Ward's eyes when he shielded his own.

The basilisk lashed out with its tail, trying to catch Otto. As she spun the spikes on her back shot out like missiles, aiming for her attackers up high.

Arianne let out a sigh of relief as she saw Achyls dashing away from her. She had done all she could, she expended her power and even healed someone using her own life power. She felt weary and weak, drained by all these spells she wanted nothing but one thing... to rest.

Before her eyes closed she muttered few more words.

" Silver Moon... do not let the evil prevail... "

And with that the black oblivion consumed the girl.

Nyr felt as if a dark enchantment was placed upon her. She felt time and events flowing much slower up to this point and she did not even notice that the battle was no longer there where she stood. Dispelling her disguise she unveiled her wings and took flight, dashing to where the others were. When she arrived she noticed one foul minion of the queen: a fabled beast, the basilisk.

She knew that looking in its eyes would be a foolish mistake, yet somehow they needed to fight the beast. In this moment the moon started to glow brighter behind her and she got an idea. Dashing to Ward she yelled so that everyone could hear it.

" We can not look in its eyes... but we might not even need to do it! " she said " If we could somehow create a prism to magnify the light of the moon we might be able to direct it right in its eyes to temporarily blind the beast! "

The idea seemed foolish and reckless... but that was the best she could come up with.

Achyls was now entangled with the basilisk, being thrown about like a rag doll. There was no way she could get out of this situation, try all she might. Through the trashing, she could only just make out what was being said.

"Don't look into it's eyes...Achyls, close your eyes now!" she thought to herself, however, with the force at which she was moving, it was unlikely she'd be able to keep them open anyway. Pushing her hands together, she threw another attack at the queen in her new form, this time with the intention of piercing her thick skin. She formed a selection of jet black daggers, each poised at the beast, letting them fly at once. It was then she lost control of the whip that tangled her with the beast.

With a crash, she slammed against the side of the basilisk, it's hard skin feeling akin to concrete. Winded, she tried to keep herself in the air, but was much to stunned to even move. Thus, she fell back, dazed, onto the ground, landing like a stone.

Leo watched as the Queen changed into a monster of nightmares. Hearing the warning of the King, Leo jumped back from the creature and kept his eye diverted downwards after his make shift weapon was smashed against the things hide. He had no weapons, and now couldn't even look at the creature. However, to look at him would not suggest him at a disadvantage. His smile as he looked down at the grass and then shifted his gaze around to the plants of the garden.

He closed his eye, he didn't need it to take on this evil creature. Leo began to reach for his memories and the powers bestowed to him by his lost spirit. He tapped the powers and then reached out to the gardens around him. The gardens were very upset with the evil of the creature that was now within its green tree's and lush flora. His eye glowed green as he opened them and began to see through the forests sensory's. He could feel the creature instead of actually seeing her, this was why Leo was smiling.

He reached out with his hand towards the queen and felt for the roots or the trees and shrubbery to reach up and wrap themselves around the basilisks legs. With his other hand he reached into his satchel and produced a single seed. His hand glowed as he grew the seed with the energy of the garden, a long shaft of what looked like wood but had a sheen of metal to it. Leo gripped the Iron Wood spear as the point finished sharpening and he readied it over his shoulder. He took a step forward and heaved the spear towards the Basilisk, hoping that the roots would hold the Queen down long enough for his spear and the others to attack as well.

Otto reached the Queen, teeth bare and ready to strike. However he had not counted on her being a beast of stone when he reached her. He pulled his teeth back and simply used his jump to push off the creature and stop his attack. As he flipped backwards to avoid the queen, Otto began shifting back to his human form once again though it was not of his own accord. When he landed to the side of the queen, something was much different about Otto, his facial features where a bit more angular and he had a bit of fur around his jaw line. His hands where a bit longer and his fingers now armed with vicious looking claws. He snarled at the creature and simply charged at the creature again seeing that Leo was attempting to hold it down. He kept his gaze down until the last moment he could until he could reach the beast and simply begin slashing at its large flanks towards its back legs.
