He looks at whomever is currently holding the stone and he says in a quiet voice, "I don't suppose we have some way of covering that up to keep it from startling the crew, do we? Then once we get to the island we can see what secrets it can show us."

If one of the PC'S has the hearthstone on them right now, Cid and the rest of the crew will already have noticed it by this point. I've just been keeping things vague because I myself am not sure where it is.

the Gem lets off a big jolt of green lightning that nails the Sidereal in the chest and sends her flying back into the nearest mast of the ship, Cid's crew letting out exclamations of shock.

[OOC: Ijara takes no damage; this is just for dramatic effect.]

Ijara quite understandably lets go of the Gem after it blasts her away, but rather than fall onto the ship's deck, it hovers in the air while crackling wildly with the green lightning.

I see how it is. Divine punishment for not taking Duck Fate immediately.

Seemingly unbothered about how he's just exposed himself as an "Anathema", Cid lowers his fist - from which the muffled sounds of crackling can still be heard - and turns to the Chosen of Battles with a look of concern. "Are you alright, Ijara?"

Is this a dramatic reveal that Cid knows Ijara's real name, or just a slip?

Ah, no, it's neither. I just forgot that Ijara was keeping her real name a secret. I'll go ahead and edit.

What is Duck Fate? I can't find any reference to it in the Essence Corebook.

And yeah, after looking at the Corebook, I could probably have Cid figure out that Ijara's a Sidereal with All-Encompassing Sorcerer's Sight, but I wasn't sure how the abilities of the Sidereals to conceal their natures compared to the Solars' abilities to see through them at the time. That, and I'd rather have your consent when it comes to Ijara being made IC, since that could potentially be a massive revelation and story beat.

And hey, Cid's only been a Solar for a couple of years, and the Sidereals are very good at hiding themselves. Unless he's been in contact with the local Lunars, even he isn't necessarily going to know about them.

What is Duck Fate? I can't find any reference to it in the Essence Corebook.

Sorry, I forget which iconic Sidereal charms made it in as modes. Duck Fate is the Sidereal perfect Dodge, known for applying to everything from being stabbed to being poisoned to being invited to a particularly unpleasant party. I assume someone has written up a Sidereal Mode for an Athletics dodge charm to bring back Duck Fate by now.
