Realistic or Modern Espionage Wars V9: Migration Edition

18th of Febuary, Kyiv, Volhynia..

Volhynian reinforcements continue to arrive to Kyiv, this including a lot of special operations units like the cossack units "Kyrill" and "Vitaly", the ukrainian rebels has been weakened heavily since the Eastern Legion has fled Kyiv, and the heavy bombings from Volhynian artillery and air assets.

The VSS also deemed it neccesary to increase security in Volhynia's capital, Lviv, as a response to the Eastern Legion threats given by the captured insurgents in Kyiv. 300 Troops from the 102nd Grenadiers has been stationed at important locations in Lviv, along with patrols in the city centre. Internal troop count has also been equipped with heavier weapons and equipment and will assist the military.

5th of March, Kyiv..

As a celebration for the victory in Kyiv, Tsar Vitaly visited the troops in a secured base outside from Kyiv. The Tsar was together with his son who fought in Kyiv, Tsesarevich Ilya and the commander of the Volhynian forces in Kyiv, Lieutenant General Olenev. Many of the soldiers was very impressed and honored by the royal visit, and this greatly improved the morale among the tired troops.

(quick footnote, I changed Cordoba's face to make him look a little more distinct.)
Island of Leyte...
.................................

gm_black_v30020.jpg
After the shootout at Mike's and their meal ticket in prison, many contractors have fallen in with the seedier elements on the island of Leyte. Cocaine and heroin-related violence have skyrocketed to record levels in decades, and the authorities are near helpless to stop it because many of the drug gangs are now as well if not more well-trained and equipped than the local forces.
gm_black_v30023.jpg
Jumping on the opportunity provided by the instability through the islands, maritime raiders have stepped up their attacks on commercial vessels in the waters around the Philippines. Any ships coming close to the islands are likely to fall prey to pirates. This has had a severe impact on supplies being smuggled to the LIM from off the island.

Island of Luzon, New Bilibid Prison...

gm_black_v30015.jpg
Any LIM member in their right mind would be terrified at the prospect of walking into the belly of the beast; yet that's exactly what Cordoba and his entourage did. Arriving in plain clothes by car in Manila at Barerra's request, his second in command is left baffled at the prospect of holding a meeting right in the heart of the enemy's capitol. Upon their arrival however they are treated like old friends who had been expected. Pleasantries were exchanged and none of the party's weapons were confiscated before they were allowed to proceed inside.
gm_black_v30022.jpg
Eventually after a time of winding through the facility, Cordoba and his escort are lead to a courtyard where a number of inmates are milling about doing various activities. Immediately distinct from the rest of the green jumpsuited thugs is a man wearing a pair of obnoxious white slacks and leaning on a familiar-looking cane as he hunts for stones in the yard.

[Cordoba]: (in Filipino) "When you said you wanted to meet I assumed you were going to have one of your mouthpieces stand in for you, and I sure as hell wasn't expecting this to be the venue."
[Barerra]: "Well when I say I have friends in high places I'm not just talking out the side of my mouth."
[Cordoba]: "Yeah you're not kidding. I can't believe they actually let you keep the stupid suit and cane in here."
[Barerra]: "Well I suppose all the funding I've pumped into the prison system over the years has earned me more than a few favors. Now anyway, tell me how things are on the outside."
[Cordoba]: "Shitty. The food supply is starting to dry up all over Leyte. The government's seized just about every scrap they can get their hands on and started rationing it out at distribution centers. They're giving people fucking ration cards now. We've managed to raid a few convoys but we barely have enough food to last another month."
[Barerra]: "What do you mean? Have my people outside the country not been delivering?"
[Cordoba]: "They're trying but the fucking pirates have been going crazy lately. We had 3 boats stolen in the last 4 weeks and we can't do anything about it because of fucking government choppers. We try to clear out the supply lanes and they're right there waiting for us."
[Barerra]: "If we could just find a way to take those choppers out of the equation, then maybe we could force the government to come to the negotiating table."
[Cordoba]: "When are we going to start fighting back for real sir? All this passive resistance crap is starting to wear on my men. I understand we don't want to give the government any ammo to paint us as terrorists but this is ridiculous. We have to do something."
[Barerra]: "Why do you think I insisted we meet so urgently mi amigo? One of my contacts on Mindanao has proposed quite the interesting idea to me that will allow us to throw some dirt in the government's eye."
[Cordoba]: "So we are actually going to push back? Here I was thinking you'd gone soft on me."
[Barerra]: "What I tell you here I need you to memorize exactly, and you're to share it with no one but your most trusted lieutenants, understand?"

New Bilibid Prison, Luzon, Philippines

"I'M A CEO, YOU BASTARDS CAN'T DO THIS!"
letMeOut_v2.jpg
Lars Kristensen screamed from behind the bars, not caring about the at least 5 other people in the cell with him. The Filipino federal government had been arresting any and all foreigners for weeks now, ostensibly to detain the many foreign mercenaries that had been pouring into Leyte since the region's independence movement had picked up steam. As if an old man like him would bother with violence, when there were business deals to be made.
Looking around, Kristensen could tell some of his fellow cellmates were battle-hardened militants, while others were merely terrified tourists.

"Not used to being bossed around, are you?" A voice called out from the corner of the cell.
Kristensen strained his eyes to see into the shadows at the edge of the cell. He could barely make out a single man, sitting by himself.
"They will not hurt you, CEO. Come over here" The voice called again.
Kristensen, seeing no better option, cautiously walked over to the corner. The prisoner closest to the voice, a massive man in a green shirt, stared him down incessantly. As Kristensen got closer, a man next to him lit up a cigarette, illuminating the man. Kristensen was struck by how he was dressed: a button down shirt, dress pants, and even a solid wood cane. He had clearly been there for a while; his clothes were all drenched in a heavy layer of sweat.
Wait...the person next to him had a cigarette, while the guards had confiscated everything Kristensen had on him. How the hell did they get cigarettes in here?
It was at that moment that Kristensen noticed the glaring scar across the man's left cheek.
The cigarettes. The cane. The relaxed, calculated personality. The scar.
Kristensen knew exactly who this man was.

"What kind of business brings you to the Philippines in times like these?" Barerra asked.
Kristensen was practically in shock. A week ago, he was planning high profile business investments. Now he was sitting in prision with the political leader of the Leyte Independence Movement.
"I - I'm Lars Kristensen, the CEO of VTA Maritime Engineering. I came to develop a plan to invest in the port facilities over here."
"Is that so?" Barerra said, pleased. "North Sea Union, then?"
isThatSo.jpg
Barerra had been keeping tabs on the Dano-Baltic War, as it was called in the region. The North Sea Union was not in an enviable position: six nations, including four of the largest superpowers in Europe, had been trying to rip them from their recent Danish acquisitions. The nation had large mercantile ambitions and, save for some Volhynian mercenaries, few friends.
The perfect candidate for a business relationship.
"You know, Mr. Kristensen, I could help you get out of this mess you've found yourself in." Barerra said.
"You can? You'd help me?" Kristensen almost felt like had been given a second chance at life.

"I'll need a favor in return, of course. You know, my connections give me access to many luxuries. But I don't use them to make my sentence here more comfortable. I use them to help my people." Barerra looked over at the wall, looking to the country he left behind, beyond the prison gates. "Right now they're starving. The government confiscates or destroys all food packages. If we try to defend them, they send attack helicopters after us. I have always been a river to my people, Mr. Kristensen, but now the government is determined to choke them into submission, any way they can. As long as they can control the air without challenge, my people are not free."

Kristensen couldn't contain himself, he was desperate to get home. "I know people in the military, what do you need?"
Barerra didn't miss a step. "Two things. Food, obviously. And we need surface-to-air missiles. Something to get those choppers off our backs."
Kristensen grew nervous. He had cooperated with the North Sea Royal Navy before, but he had never acted as a gun runner. Still, he could tell Barerra meant what he said about helping his people. And with weight of Brittany and the GDS bearing down on the NSU ever stronger, he knew his country needed allies.

"I think I can help you. Can you actually get me out of here?"
"I have connections all throughout this country, Mr. Kristensen. My friends can get you out of this prision and to the coast. You'll need to provide the ship, however."
"I can manage that. Where will you go?"
"Nowhere. My colleague is working on something big right now, and I can't jeopardize his work by attracting too much attention."
"But your time will come." Barerra said, his voice filled with determination. "As will mine. As will ours."

gm_black_v30029.jpg
Soldier 1 (Soldier with Shotgun): [In Tagalog] God I can't believe I let you drag me into this. If the Captain finds out about this we're gonna end up in one of these fucking cells.
Soldier 2 (With Pistol): Shut up and keep moving before someone sees us.
Kristensen: [In English] I know the zip cuffs are to keep up appearances but did you have to make them so tight?

gm_black_v30030.jpg
As the trio nears the emergency exit, they are suddenly approached by a rather authoritative looking soldier shouting something at the other two in Tagalog.
NCO: Where the fuck do you two retards think you're going with him? No one told me anything about a prisoner transfer.
Soldier 1: Uh, Sergeant Tan! We uh, got a sudden order that came down from the Captain that this one's to be moved to the political prisoner wing as soon as possible, so if you don't mind we'll just be on our way sergeant...
NCO: I think the fuck not. You two idiots stay right there while I figure this out.

gm_black_v30031.jpg
As the sergeant goes for his radio while the other attempts to talk him down, the soldier hanging back suddenly approaches and blows his brains out.
Soldier 1: Jesus man what the fuck! You just fucking shot Sergeant Tan!
Soldier 2: Shut up and run dumbass!

gm_black_v30033.jpg
The trio make their way through an abandoned section of the prison, eventually making their way through an outflow pipe to an area outside the walls where a van is waiting for them. Unfortunately their departure drew a significant amount of attention as the prison lights up on high alert. Thankfully the last few days has seen the early start of monsoon season, providing a fortunate cover of heavy rain for the escaping party.
Poncho Guy: [In Tagalog] What the hell did you guys do? This was supposed to be a quiet job!
Soldier 1: Shut the fuck up and drive, we gotta go now!

gm_black_v30036.jpg
In no time at all multiple pursuit units are on the move to intercept the group as they tear through the rain-soaked streets of Manila.
gm_black_v30039.jpg
The driver of the van barrels through the streets like an absolute madman. As Kristensen takes a moment to catch his breath, he's suddenly greeted by hardwood and gunmetal taking up his field of view. He looks up to see the man in a Russian parka handing him an AK-47.
Parka Guy: [In broken English] You know how use rifle?
Kristensen: Um... I.. yeah I've been hunting a few times but..
Parka
Guy: Okay you take. No shoot us in back okay?
gm_black_v30040.jpg
Kristensen lifts himself onto the adjacent seat and settles in. As the man opposite him begins to inspect the action on his weapon, Kristensen stares at the rifle in his hands and can't help but think to himself...
"What on Earth have I gotten into..?"

Quang Ngai, Tchvonian Sectors, Republic of Vietnam
Rocket attacks have increased in Quang Ngai as war continues in the country, having fared worse than Cam Rahn to the south which headquarters Tchvonian forces. Four people died in a recent attack near the tourist area of Quang Ngai with the TPA promising to increase its presence in both sectors to maintain peace as best it can.

Another way of fighting have been the increasing special operations raids on enemy Vietnamese forces, several of which destroyed sites that launch these rockets. The IPA coordinate with one another to conduct these missions with the Tchvonian People's Army Vietnamese Legion providing the backbone to assist the special forces.

North Sea
With the conflict against the NSU sitting at a slow pace, the TPAF have been prodding at air defenses through exploratory recon flights offshore of Denmark. Some have resulted in missile locks but so far there haven't been any reported casualties on either side. The TPN still maintains their ITSA Security Squadron in the area.

A few months ago in Mainland Brittany
Since the call to arms against the NSU blockade, Tchvonia has used its airbase in Lille to begin building up its forces and despite the unusually active winter have been moving them towards the frontlines from the Southwest. It isn't known at this time how much manpower is at play but from what we can tell from the various images and media being reporting it looks like a reasonable amount. Artillery has been noted among the convoys.

Cordoba heads to Mindanao to meet with Barerra's contact. The contact is an ex-pat Triad member from Hong Kong who has made a living peddling resources to various militia groups. Despite Cordoba not trusting him, Barerra insisted the man was good to go through.

The broker drives Cordoba and his entrourage to a desolate beach where a tug boat with a few barges waits in the bay.
Cordoba: (In Tagalog) What the fuck is this? You said you had boats ready for us, what is this shit?
Broker: No brother I promised your boss a few things that float, I didn't say they were boats. You should be so grateful I'm throwing in the tug too.
Cordoba: God damn it... fine. Gimme the maps and get the fuck out of my way...

gm_black_v30027.jpg
Pirate activity around the Philippines has picked up significantly. Most government naval forces have been redirected to deal with the pirate threat, leaving the LIM free to move their vessels between islands without being noticed. Due to monsoon activity government choppers have been grounded until a later date.
\gm_black_v30000.jpg
The barges arrive in LIM territory, and they immediately set to the task of arming them for the campaign ahead....
gm_black_v30042.jpg
Once the LIM abandoned Ormoc, the government attempted to settle citizens back into it. These attempts were offset by Islamic militants emerging from the jungles and claiming Ormoc as their own, executing government soldiers and apostate citizens. At this point now, Ormoc is entirely under the control of sadistic Islamists...
gm_black_v30000.jpg
Cordoba and his lieutenants plan out the attack on Ormoc , everything having been in the works for months now. Eventually the LIM will snatch their home city back from the clutches of the filthy extremists...
gm_black_v30002.jpg
On Leyte and other islands in the Philippines, government supply convoys tend to turn up with entire logs of inventory missing. No one bothers to mention that the LIM pays off the drivers and convoy guards to look the other way when these crates go "missing".

"QUICK THE CHOPPER BUGGERED OFF, CHANGE CLOTHES AND OUT OF THE VAN!"
chaseTwo.jpg
Having driven out of Manila, the team was barely able to escape the chasing helicopters. Knowing that their van would quickly be picked up by other choppers scouring the roads, Kristensen and his LIM accomplices are forced to head out on foot.
After what seems like an entire day's worth of running through jungle and forest, finally they come upon a relatively clear patch of beach.
"There's nothing here!" the leader of the group - the soldier who shot Sergeant Tan, Angelo Del Rosario - said. "Just a cargo ship."
"No, they're here." Kristensen said. He seemed far calmer than he normally did.
"What do you mean they're here, do you see a -" at that, the soldier noticed a trio of small boats leaving the cargo ship. He could barely make out men carrying assault weapons, AKs and a few G3 battle rifles.
He had to give it to Kristensen's friends - they knew how to slip past a blockade.
shipment.jpg
The men began to unload two heavy supply crates, with more in the other boats. A man in a button-down shirt and expensive sunglasses walked up to the group, along with a heavily-armed guard.
"Hej, Mr. Kristensen. Quite a bit of trouble you've gotten yourself into." He said, smiling as if he was on vacation.
"Du ville ikke tro det, selvom du havde set det." Kristensen sighed. He could feel his ordeal was finally over.

Kristensen walked to get on the nearest boat, then turned to the other members of his group.
"Gentlemen, I can't thank you enough for this. If there's any way I could repay you, I -"
"You won't need to worry about that, sir. We've got their payment in full right here." The man with the sunglasses spoke up confidently.

Del Rosario stepped up. "So what's in the crates, then?"
"Nothing much. We heard you guys have been having some food shortages." He and the guard propped off the lid of the crate closest to him. "Brought some cod and smoked salmon, frozen meatballs, Volhynian grain. Good stuff."

The lead LIM soldier cocked his head. "So you came all the way here to trade a CEO for meatballs?"
"Well," the agent said, "that's all we intended to bring. But you see, there were these things in the crates already, and we just didn't have time to remove them, so I threw them in no extra cost."
The soldier peered into the crate. Underneath packages of frozen meatballs and slices of salmon, he could clearly see, tightly wrapped in plastic wrap, the head of an FIM-92 Stinger anti-air missile.
"There's about 50 of them in total. Hopefully you guys can find a use for them." The agent said, his joy in the theatrics more noticeable then he realized.

"That's … that's very generous of you." Del Rosario could barely take in the significance of the delivery.
"Don't mention it. You protect our people, so we lent a hand." The agent said. "We have more crates of food on the ship. You know, once the scuffles we both find ourselves in conclude, we know people on our end who would be interested in a continued relationship."
"Well, I don't sit in on those conversations..." Del Rosario said.

"...but I have a feeling this won't be the last deal we make."

Rebel Rock Radio
Since the beginning, communication has always been difficult for the LIM. Most electronic forms of media are heavily monitored and couriers have a tendency to get kidnapped by gangs, which has lead to the LIM having to come up with a new way to circumvent the censors. Thus was born what is colloquially known amongst the population as "Rebel Rock Radio" or just "R3", an underground media network that consists of various pirate broadcasts and bootleg publications. The operation is quite ingenious; a fleet of inconspicuous trucks, vans and other vehicles are converted into mobile shortwave broadcasting stations that can be deployed and packed up in a hurry. This allows the LIM to stay on the move and keeps the government from getting a lock on any one broadcasting station. Once a truck arrives in the location they wish to start broadcasting, technicians then patch into the local infrastructure in order to hijack cable and radio stations to air their content.

gm_black_v30032.jpg
R3 technicians rigging up one of the mobile broadcasting trucks...

gm_black_v30041-jpg.884647

Technicians scavenging components from (consenting) homes to build their pirate transmitters.

Thousands of locals across both Leyte and neighboring Samar Island tune in every night to listen to unfiltered news and entertainment broadcasts. Not only does R3 provide news without the government lens of propaganda for the citizens, it also allows coded messages to be sent to large numbers of agents at one time. This network has been absolutely critical in keeping the LIM cohesive during the turmoil that has been unfolding over the last few months.

gm_black_v30007.jpg
Locals settling in to listen to their nightly R3 broadcast.

gm_black_v30009.jpg
Thanks to R3, the LIM has managed to set up multiple covert distribution points for the supplies provided by the NSU. The supplies may not be enough to feed everyone, but they can certainly keep the resistance effort afloat for another few months.

The Taking of Ormoc
April-May

After months of careful planning and preparation, the decision is made to move on the city of Ormoc. Cordoba and his men will assault the city from the west under the cover of the monsoon, which will prevent interference from government air assets due to the heavy rains. The first two significant targets to secure are Sto. Niño College and Ormoc City Christian Academy on the western fringe of the city proper.

gm_black_v30004.jpg
Cordoba and a group of his fighters engage in prayer the morning before the assault commences. Many of the men took it as a sign of divine providence from Allah that the clouds briefly allowed a patch of sunlight through as they offered their devotions toward Mecca.

The LIM's armed barges sail into the Bay of Ormoc. Their mortar crews have spent weeks studying charts made by infiltrators in the city, and by now the calculations are like muscle memory to them. Despite the absolutely abysmal visibility conditions, shell after shell strikes its mark and begins to pound the unsuspecting defenders.

gm_black_v30001.jpg

The going is initially slow as LIM troops make their way into the outskirts of the city. Complete darkness engulfs the area, as the government cut the city's power shortly after the jihadists occupied it.

Ormoc.jpg
LIM troops making their way through the rubble of the city outskirts.

Resistance after the initial shelling is sporadic, with most of the insurgents having moved into the city interior to take up better positions and draw the LIM into chokepoints. By midnight resistance stiffens considerably and Cordoba's fighters find themselves bogged down in brutal street fighting.

streetfight.jpg

Eventually Cordoba's men capture the college and Christian academy... 3 days behind schedule. Nobody had expected the insurgents to put up this much of a fight, making the LIM pay for every half-standing building and pile of rubble possible.

gm_black_v30006.jpg
Most of the LIM's fighters are just fresh-faced kids who have never pointed their weapons at a live target before. The stresses of actual combat begin to take a toll on the psyche of some of the men.

gm_black_v30002.jpg

With a foothold in the city secured, Cordoba and his fighters consolidate and prepare to move on with the next phase of the operation.

Plumes of smoke. And dust. My face was awash with sudden heat as the shockwave reached me and blown all the cold away...

I hear Vasilly shout something, but I can't recall what. I turned around, he was squatting on the ground, eyes empty and locked in by terror. His hands were shaking... as they cradled his exhausted, weathered face.

I fought jihadists in Anatolia. I have seen them kill people in the worst ways possible. I have seen the damn Abolitores drive metal rods through their captive foes' chests and abdomens, all while they were still alive and breathing. I have witnessed refugees crucified along the road to Bursa... But this? These...men...they have families here, friends, mothers and fathers, sisters and brothers. And yet.

It broke Vasilly, and it broke me. And all men around me realized what happened once the shock wore off. People around the world might call us monsters, but if so-called freedom fighters have to resort to such methods? Then I'm happy to have survived this day and prevent them from ever, ever realizing their "freedom" from becoming a reality of Volhynia.

- Sgt. Ivan Konevenko, 12th Ruthenian Battalion, Order's Ruthenian Chapter.

...

bomb_attack_aftermath.jpg

In times and situations like these, I always trust The Lord to protect me and give me the will to carry out my task. My task then was to aid my fallen Volhynian battle brother - only after a while I realized, that his soul was with Lord already, and all I was doing then, was carrying his lifeless body around, still praying and hoping he will live and fight with us again.

I still can't see with my left eye. I only see the flashes and specks of dust in it. Just like during that exact moment when the heretics committed that crime, too big for me to talk about without tearing up... Lord, forgive us... But we fight to vanquish them.

I can't rejoin my brothers in this fight yet. But I hope The Lord grants me a miracle, so I can slaughter the heretics again.

- Brother Byron, Volhynian Monastic Chapter (rank unknown)

...

The dust has settled in Kyiv. Though the fires were put out and all remaining enemy militants vanquished, the city remains a dark reminder that ATO will not be restoring the city to its former glory anytime soon.

Contrary to popular belief held by Archbishop Anton Lazarov, the populace of Kyiv remains wary of Order and the Volhynian administration. Both information collected by Inquisition and official polls tell them - people of Kyiv blame the occupiers directly for the recent catastrophe that was the Second Battle of Kyiv. Though tired of war and destruction, people might never fully accept the fact that they are governed by Volhynia now, especially now that Eastern Legion itself felt the strategic merit of terrorizing Ukrainians.

Thus Archbishop decided - all charity effort administrated by Order in Volhynia needs to be directed to the hasty reconstruction of the city and restoration of feelings of security among the Kyiv populace. Lazarov hopes that no big accidents of that magnitude shall ever happen again in the future, and the Tsar agrees - funding needs to allocated to make this happen. As well as a total overhaul of the city.

If Kiyv still has potential and a bright future ahead, it shall be made a beacon of Volhynian excellence. The Silicon Valley of East. The city of 1000 churches. Many bright minds of both technological and theological, still reside in the smoldering city. Though stagnated during the years of Ukrainian independence and now bombed during times of Ruthenian War, the combined economical strength of Volhynia and ATO shall prevail and employ these minds for a new, brighter tomorrow.

Time will tell if this plan will be successful...

Kiev_uprising_aftermatch_1.jpg
Streets of Kyiv, March 3rd. Though several months have passed since the end of the 2nd catastrophic Battle of Kyiv, most streets touched by the fighting still remain ruined, littered with hazardous war machine wreckage and debris.

Meanwhile...

A special investigation by Order's Inquisition has revealed many truths about the battle. It appears that many institutions of both Order and Volhynian Kyiv Administration were infiltrated by Eastern Legion extremists ever since the end of the First Battle of Kyiv back in 2018. No details were revealed by Inquisition, except the fact that the entire net of spies has been destroyed during the battle - some of the infiltrators killed by Ukrainian Resistance fighters as revenge for the deadly January 28th bombing.

Joint task-force of Inquisition and Volhynian VIA tasked with tracking down of extremist arms supply source has revealed some highly sensitive information regarding the suicide-bombings. It appears that all the suicide bombers were provided with high-yield explosive devices constructed using cratering charges. Though an unusual choice for explosive material, the very origin of these explosives might very well reveal the true source of funding of Eastern Legion after all these years.

A surviving specimen of the 40lb cratering charge, recovered from a downed suicide bomber, revealed that it was manufactured in the USA originally, back in 2005. The serial number found on the charge was cross-referenced with the information provided by partners back in mainland USA. The truth - this particular cratering charge was bought by Don Cossacks Federation of Krasnodar armed forces from the US military during the 2010s as they were selling off massive amounts of their arms storage to keep afloat economically in the face of all the state secessions.

A recent Order propaganda documentary about the Second Battle of Kyiv shows the cratering charge in question (placed in the middle of mat) during a brief scene.

March 24th, Kergikstani-Kazachstani frontline near Aktobe
...

It has been hell down here, ever since the failed breakthrough assault we have been stuck here January I haven’t. got much sleep aside from those quiet moments in the night.
Rest of the days are filled with sounds of our machine guns and the enemy’s machines, sounds of deafening Artillery, and the guys wailing right next to me who already want to go home.

Only good news I heard are rumors that the ERR are coming to assist, but I feel like the new generals are too much of a glory hound to allow the ERR to assist in full. God knows what the army has in plan I hope it is something that can get us out of here…

Kergikstani forces in the trenches.jpg
kergikstan soldiers dugged in the makeshift trenches...

As march 24th rolled around the kergikstan army high command realized that usual shock and awe tactics were not bringing the Kazakh defenders to a knee and were continuing to throw as much weight to stop them from entering any further to Kazakh lands. As a result many of the soldiers fighting were starting to loose morale while no reports of desertion, many soldiers were starting to question weather or not the government had the capability of waging a war like this. Nonetheless General Malik Kasimov had ordered more forces from homeland to help support the new defense line and along with his cohorts had planned a series of attacks aimed at crippling kahzakstans rear forces and forward observation posts, but for now the Kergikstan army had to endure a prolonged defense of the makeshift defense lines.

April 1st

With reports of a dust storm hitting the kahzakstan's eastern rear which supplied and provided the brunt of the artillery that are striking the kergikstani forces. The general thought of this as a perfect cover to commence his plan, ordered the 68th Shock battalion and few detachments form 2nd Signal Reconnaissance corps to infiltrate the eastern rear perimeter under the cover of the dust storm, while 68th commanding officer argued it would a huge gamble, the general claimed that OIA intelligence suggests they plenty of time before the dust storm fades. To provide a distraction general malik ordered the main elements to start firing at the kahzakstan trench with artillery, small and heavy weapons fire to provoke the Kazakh main elements to return fire and have them focus on the kergikstani forces while the 68th Shock battalion and 2nd Signal Reconnaissance corps trek through a heavy dust storm to attack the rear. After hours of trekking and not botching the operation by walking into the Kazakh forces they managed to find a good spot to launch the assault with that they commence the operation with element of surprise they engaged the few sentries in the area before marching straight into the forward observation base which was caught off guard with the capture of the base and neutralizing any enemy soldiers they proceeded assault multiple locations including the artillery bases with great success capturing them and are now currently holding the base fending off any assaults by kahzakstani forces attempting to retake the rear.

To piggyback of the successful taking of the rear and to prepare of the arrival of the ERR, General Malik had been given the approval for kergikstani SAT units to assist with this he ordered SAT Teams to move behind enemy lines with orders to harass known alternate supply routes, destroy forward operating bases, engage kahzakhstani special forces attempting to infiltrate though Kergikstani lines, and finally destroy important radar positions and sam sites that are harassing kergikstani fighter jets. with these many of SAT units have been moving around behind enemy lines mining roads with mines, destroying convoys carrying supplies to the frontline, hunting down enemy commandos and finally destroying targets of importance like SAM sites and radars. However while the plan was successful for the coming days and wielded good results it resulted in casualties on kergisktani SAT operators with at least one team coming back with 4 out of the 9 units sent in although the general was informed that this would not compromise kergikstani SAT operational capabilities.

June 16th, Atyrau International airport/Airbase

The first ERR troops numbering up to 3 legions arrived in Atyrau international airport after the ERR pledge for support came through. The Minister of defense Karim Golovkin arrived with his entourage to greet Legate Mihal Corneliu Stoica. the men shared greetings and the minister explained and briefed him on the current affairs in the frontlines explaining that currently the army has successfully captured the rear perimeters and destroyed multiple supply lines thanks the efforts of General Malik. After the two exchanged a few words the legion were helped escorted out of the airport. However the anti war protesters who seek to record footage for their propaganda and disrupt the ERR soldiers coming in either by attempting to block roads or harass them which at least one incident resulted in a broken arm for a protestor. However successful planning with the Atyrau metropolitan police and Republican highway patrol alongside army military police managed to use backup routes and crowd control tactics. Avoid any roadblocks and more confrontations and are now on way to the frontline.

With good news arriving to General Malik that the ERR arrived he was however outraged when orders from the minister himself ordered all combat operations to cease and to wait for ERR forces to arrive. The general disobeyed the ministers order and ordered he's final phase to commence to soften up the kazakh defenders he ordered artillery from both the main frontline and the 68th shock battalion captured rear to start firing at the trench line, while preparing to also order the main spearhead elements to stand by. The kergisktan artillery fired a wave of shells ranging from white phosphorus and airburst shells towards the Kazakh trenches and after some time the first ERR jets arrived to perform CAS strikes on the trenches too, with this he ordered all lead elements to finally charge the Kazakh trenches with the leopards leading assault with assistance from ground troops and bradley's.

As the new day passes after fighting from the previous day, the tank charge after four months of stalemate finally broke the kahzakhstani defenders and had caused a massive route to commence. The trenches were being evacuated while kergikstani soldiers and armored support moved in to clear any stragglers and the retreating forces. While the task will be heavy and it did add more to the casualties on both side the kergikstani army struggled to clear the sections with, hand to hand combat and bloody fighting being very prevalent, as of right now the army rear elements are still clearing the trenches while the lead elements in conjunction with Kergikstani and ERR jets move in to catch up to any retreating forces to make sure a new defense line is not created to slow down the new joint forces.

"Our Kergik brothers need our help, our support for their war to claim land that has always been theirs. When we called for aid the Kergiks answered, they spilt their blood and gave their sons, which some still lay eternal in our lands - we shall give ours now in their hour for them!" - ERR Legate

June 8th
Near Adrianople, ERR

After the ERR pledged support for the Kergikstanis the supreme command of the Roman Republic began to draw up plans to help aid the ATO allies in their fight against the Kazakhs. After learning what worked and failed in Turkey, the ERR would want to use more precise tactics on the battlefield in the conflict. Legates determined that precision airstrikes and carpet bombing would be a key move in breaking the back of the Kazakh Armed Forces, with the advancement of the Kergik forces and air power of the ERR, the statement that has halted the war will be broken. One issue that arose was the reinforcement of current Kergik forces, the Kergik troops have been on the front for months with very little break from fighting - with the commitment of airpower, the ERR would also send three legions to aid ground forces in pushing the Kazakhs back further into their own territory.

June 15/16th
ERR & Kergikstan

The operation finally was set in motion a week before June 16th, when the ERR forces were scheduled to be on the ground, three contingent legions were rallied up near the capital with the necessary equipment brought in from Anatolia. On the night of June 15th, the legions were loaded onto their planes with equipment and flown towards Kergikstan's Atyrau International Airport, while a fleet of ERR Tu-95 bombers were being armed and fueled for strikes against Kazakh lines. By 12:00 AM on June 16th the bombers would take off slightly after the departure of the legions, the bombers would be heading for strongpoints along the Kergik/Kazakh lines to hammer heavy positions with precision strikes.

EW - ERR 10.jpg
A Tu-95 bomber takes off from ERR territory in route to the Kergik Front.

During the day of June 16th another fleet of Tu-95s would follow in tail with basic ordinates for a carpet strike on any retreating or secondary positions behind the main lines, in hopes of destroying any defenses that the main Kergik force would face once the main line was taken. Also, if the secondary positions were destroyed or damaged then the bombers can begin hitting Kazakh supplies routes while any columns of supply conveys can also be hit by lower flying CAS aircraft.

Falster occupied Denmark

June 2nd

After cold winter and suitable weather conditions, GDS has launched its first offensive against the NSU, on the island of Falster, which was continuously bombarded ever since the start of winter. with weakened defences air superiority and support from the allied navy, GDS managed to land without that many difficulties. in the following week, few dozens of northern towns and villages would be liberated from the NSU occupation.

eh.jpg

Small towns such as Orehoved had very few garrisoned units stationed as a result of their small size, paving the way for them to be captured by GDS personnel relatively easily. which later would allow for GDS logistic use bridges connecting Falster and Zealand.

YES.jpg
But once the GDS forces reached a major city of Nykøbing on the Falster island, GDS has met fierce opposition from Northen Sea Army, thus starting the battle of Nykøbing. Officially the conflict has escalated.

Aarhus, NSU-occupied Jutland

In a fortified underground bunker, a grey-haired military officer stands above a map of the land he had conquered. He stares at one portion in particular, a diamond-shaped island that had been his most recent acquisition.
nielsen.jpg

As the new year led to a brutal winter, and both the NSU and GDS traded long range artillery fire, it was difficult to move troops in and out of Falster. This led to disastrous results as the GDS jumped at the coming of summer to launch a surprise invasion of the island, catching North Sea troops off guard and pushing them back to the Western edge of the island.
Elements of the NSU 2nd Infantry Regiment fell back to the strategic city of Nykøbing Falster, protecting the Frederick IX Bridge to the island of Lolland. Once Samogitian infantry entered the city, the 2nd Infantry was able to drastically stall their advance as the two sides engaged in street-by-street gunfights.

The 7th Artillery Regiment, stationed in Toreby, Lolland, were able to assist the soldiers fighting in Nykøbing with heavy artillery barrages. The priority targets were Samogitian mechanized infantry entering the city’s outskirts, as firing into the city would have caused high civilian casualties.
cannon.jpg

After eight days of fighting, the Battle of Nykøbing has been largely a stalemate. Mechanized infantry is on route from Lolland to reinforce the 2nd Infantry. However, with the GDS, Danish government and Venneziola determined to drive the North Sea Union out of Denmark, Brittany and Tchvonia providing logistical support, and the prospect of Transylvanian military units assisting as well, the NSU can no longer afford to use speed to overwhelm its opponents. The War of Danish Unification going forward must be a largely defensive fight.

19th of June, Nykøbing, Denmark..

Mercenaries from the mysterious Meytus ChVK have been spotted in Nykøbing Falster fighting alongside the NSU troops, the mercenaries have been very successful against the Danish forces and their allies, using guerilla tactics as they operate in smaller squads, making them more mobile and faster.

The famous media, Vice News has also made an epsiode investigating who the mercenaries of Meytus are, this also included recorded videos, the mercenaries had uploaded to the internet themselves, the episode also confirmed that the mercenaries do speak the Volhynian language and is using Volhynian military gear and weapons. The Volhynian government is still denying any involvement with the fighting going on.

Ormoc Chapter 2...
.......
June
The fighting in Ormoc rages on into the muggy month of June. The monsoons have continued to batter the already ravaged city, though there have been rumors of a reprieve around the corner soon. As the LIM's forces continue to move into the city interior, they're followed closely by a pair of Vice press members who have been documenting the struggle from the beginning; a kiwi journalist by the name of Kenneth Farraday and his American cameraman Donald Martell.

Excerpt from Farraday's journal, dated June 11th:
"We've been following the rear echelons as they move into the city. As hard as I fought to try and get us in with the front line units apparently we still haven't won enough favor with Cordoba's men. Maybe it's for the best. The further in we go, the more terrible the things we see become. I thought the fighting I'd covered in Angola and Syria was bad but this was something else. It was like a fight between two desperate starving dogs over the last table scraps."
gm_black_v30024.jpg

June 12th
"One of the most horrifying things we weren't prepared for was the massacre at the Christian Academy. The jihadists made it a point to raid it early in their occupation and take the students and faculty there hostage. By the time the LIM arrived the islamists had already cleared out of the campus, but they left behind one last grisly display as a taunt to the fighters. Every student, teacher and clergy member the terrorists managed to get their hands on were herded into the chapel and slaughtered en-masse with machetes and blunt weapons. The altar they were butchered in front of was torn down and defaced with blasphemous writings in Arabic."
Churchmassacre.jpg

June 13th
"The next day the significantly smaller number of Christian fighters took it upon themselves to give the dead a serviceable burial. Despite the Muslim fighters offering their condolences and assistance with burying the bodies, Cordoba was one of the only Muslim members in attendance. It was sworn by Cordoba that once the city was retaken they would return and give the victims a proper Christian funeral. Despite my best efforts to get close to him after the service, Cordoba managed to slip away yet again. The man is almost impossible to get an interview with, but I'll get him one of these days..."~
gm_black_v30001.jpg

June 15th
"Cordoba's men set up a refugee camp at Sto. Niño and have been relocating whatever surviving civilians they can find there. They've managed to rig up some lighting and get water running in that part of the city again with some looted industrial generators so the conditions there are exponentially better than anywhere else in the city. Not that that's saying much of course..."
gm_black_v30003.jpg

June 16th
"Donald and I have been stuck at Sto. Niño for 3 days now with the medical and supply units. We've been trying unsuccessfully to hitch a ride up to the front with one of the supply utes but so far it's been a no-go. Only combatants are being allowed to the front at the moment and for some reason there seems to be a sudden shortage of people to bribe for results. At any rate I've heard rumors from blokes coming off the line that a force split off from Cordoba's main body to take the airport about 2 days ago. Since only fighters are being allowed to move around anywhere I can't get up there to verify this."
gm_black_v30019.jpg

"One of the strangest aspects of this war is that both factions are primarily Muslim which means they observe call to prayer. At multiple times during the day the fighting will just.... stop. Both sides will just drop what they're doing as the call to prayer plays out over whatever jury-rigged systems they have set up. I've seen strange things in war before but witnessing a battleground just go quiet at certain times of the day is the most surreal thing I've ever experienced..."
waraypic.jpg

June 18th
"Donald finally managed to get a hold of a bloke who would drive us up to the front. We almost caught up to Cordoba's element as they were crossing the Anilao River headed south toward the harbor. Unfortunately the closer we get to the harbor the worse the flooding is. We eventually had to abandon our vehicles and start trailing Cordoba's troops on foot. They had set up a series of rickety foot bridges to move across the upper levels and rooftops of flooded buildings. As we went along we passed by more scraps from the fighting; medics tending to wounded, shellshocked soldiers being moved to the rear and the ever-present dead were there to keep us company the whole time. I've never been bothered by the sight of corpses before but... I find myself repulsed at their constant presence and the stench they bring that permeates everything in the humid weather."
gm_black_v30000.jpg

June 21st
"Thank Christ, we finally caught up with Cordoba's element. They've managed to secure what little of the harbor that isn't underwater and I've heard Cordoba set up his new HQ in one of the few standing shipping company high rises. We're camped out with the grunts in one of the adjacent buildings but Cordoba remains elusive as ever. He's locked himself in what they're calling the 'war room' and has been planning out the next phase of the attack with his leftenants. Hopefully if I can't get Cordoba for an interview I might be able to at least squeeze some info out of someone who was present at the meeting. In the meantime all Donald and I can do is wait and see what happens next. I just pray that we don't get hit by some jihadi's rocket in the middle of the night..
But on the bright side they said the rain should stop for a few days at least..."

Inside the "War Room"...
As Cordoba and his lieutenants deliberate their next move, a runner suddenly bursts in and hands a satellite phone to Cordoba.
Runner: "Sir! Comms cleared up enough to get a signal through, it's Barerra's contact. He says he has an urgent message for you from Barerra himself. Something about 'It's time'.. "
Cordoba: "Son of a bitch.. Give me that
."

New Bilibid Prison, Manila...
.....
June 24th
Two guards sit in the main control room for D Wing: the political prisoner wing. The two are listening to a radio broadcasting the scores of regional football match. While one guard curses out his team for performing poorly, the broadcast suddenly stutters and cuts to a strange, garbled transmission. Eventually the signal gained clarity until Johnny Cash's "Folsom Prison Blues" could be heard emitting through the speaker. While one guard curses the broadcast, thinking they had accidentally picked up the signal of another radio station, the other guard recognizes it for the coded message from R3 it is. He stands and excuses himself for a smoke break, his true motives unknown until...
prisonbreak.jpg

The door to every cell in the facility suddenly swings open. All that's heard is a voice over the PA system, "Barerra sends his regards kids. Have fun."
shutthatdoor.jpg

Then all hell broke loose...
gm_black_v30004.jpg

Whitman would find his way to Barerra's cell in the chaos. Despite the havoc Barerra is perfectly safe, being protected by a mob of loyal prisoners and guards alike.
Whitman: "Sir, are you ready to move?"
Barerra: "Oh yes Whitman, I'm more than ready. I've been waiting for this day for quite some time. Let's go pay our friend warden Dominguez a visit shall we?"

comewithmeifyouwanttolive.jpg

A throng of Barerra's followers take to the halls of the prison and begin to fight their way toward vital areas such as the armory and canteen. Many of the prisoners are sympathetic to the LIM and others are foreigners that are more than happy for an opportunity to lash out at the bastards that locked them up for no reason. Many guards are still loyal to the government and fight back with rubber bullets and brutal riot suppression tactics. The ever-resourceful prisoners meet their charge head-on with their own improvised weapons and shields.
gm_black_v30009.jpg

Eventually Barerra's posse makes its way to the warden's office and corners him there. Eventually he's "gently coerced" to cede control of the prison over to the LIM and submit himself to their capture.
gm_black_v30008.jpg

Soon after the seizing of the prison, a video is anonymously sent to major news outlets around the world for all to see.
The video would focus in on Barerra standing in front of a holding cell. Behind him a multitude of guards can be seen captured, along with a disgruntled warden Dominguez. After a moment Barerra begins to speak.
Barerra: "For those of you who do not know me, my name is Constantino Malik Sinagtala Barerra. I am the leader of what's become colloquially known as the "Leyte Independence Movement." I want to take a moment to state that secession was never our intent from the beginning. We simply sought an end to the corruption of local and federal authorities that have been leaving our people destitute for decades now. We tried everything we could to achieve our ends peacefully, yet at every turn we were branded as troublemakers and silenced. Despite how the Filipino government and its many media mouthpieces may have been portraying us I wish to clarify that all claims of LIM attacks on government installations through the islands have been utterly false. Now however with the recent events on the islands of Leyte and Samar, particularly the cowardly abuse of the innocent Waray peoples, our hand has been forced into more extreme measures. Currently we are broadcasting from inside New Bilibid Prison, which we have seized and are currently holding the guards and administrative staff hostage. I'll allow the warden here to convey the gravity of the situation in case it's not apparent.."
Dominguez: "(with obvious disdain in his voice as he recites some clearly rehearsed lines) I, warden Olivar Dominguez, have formally ceded control of New Bilibid Prison to members of the Leyte Independence Movement. I wish to state that we have not been mistreated and are assured that no harm will come to us through this brief period of unrest. All we ask is that the government please cooperate with the LIM and minimize the chances of any further violence..."
Barerra: "Very good. Now with that out of the way, this is more than a ransom video. This is a declaration of independence. The island of Leyte, and all free peoples therein, are now part of the Free Territory of Leyte and under the protection of the Free Waray Army. Any Filipino troops still on the island will be allowed to safely withdraw to the neighboring islands, but any who remain by the end of the week will be considered a hostile occupying force and treated as such. As for me, I will leave this prison by car and return to Leyte without incident. Government forces will not attempt to follow me or there will be repercussions. Thank you for your time, and God bless the Leyteño peoples."
At that the video would end and regular programming would resume...

gm_black_v30002.jpg

A couple of disguised (now officially) Free Waray Army members in Manila would be listening to the broadcast over the radio in their truck. The two were tasked with moving a nasty surprise for the government into the city in the event the government should fail to follow Barerra's instructions...
Soldier 1: "Heh, well I guess we're ex-pats now. How's it feel to be a foreign national in your own country?"
Soldier 2: "Yeah no kidding. So you think they're actually gonna listen to Barerra and leave him alone or what?"
At that moment a military helicopter can be seen roaring off in the direction of the prison...
Soldier 1: "Hell no, when has the government actually held up their end of any deal? That chopper is probably heading out to tail them right now."
Soldier 2: "Oh well. Can't say we didn't warn them. Heheh..."

Stingersinmotion.jpg

Cordoba and Whitman make their way out a service exit into a back alley where a car is waiting for them. After inspecting the car and the surrounding area Whitman deems it kosher and the two enter the back seat.
Barerra: "Well, quite a lot of possibilities ahead of us gentlemen. You wouldn't happen to have a cigar to celebrate would you soldier?"
Driver: "No sir. I'm sure they'll have some waiting for you at the rendezvous point."
Whitman: "Sir we really need to get moving. The government's bound to send a tail after us any minute now.."
Barerra: "Oh well, there'll be plenty of time for celebrating later I suppose. Let's get a move on then shall we driver?"

ridinginstyle.jpg

True to form the government immediately sends a chopper to follow Barerra to the rendezvous point. What they don't know however is that the truck from earlier had clandestinely dropped off a few teams of FWA fighters armed with stingers to cover Barerra's exit in the event an air tail was dispatched. Almost as if on cue, the chopper soon comes into view on the trail of Barerra's car. But the hunters are ready for their quarry...
stingers.jpg

Pilot 1: "What the hell? I'm getting lock-on tone here! Fuck, hit the countermeasures now!"
Before the crew can react in time a missile streaks through the sky and slams into one of the helicopters, engulfing it in a firey explosion that nearly takes out the adjacent helicopter...
Pilot 2: "Jesus Christ was that fucking AA?! Abort! Get the fuck out of here now!"
The second chopper would peel off and give no further chase. With that the official opening shots of the new FWA's war have been fired. Peace is no longer an option...

Catalan declaration of independence
Following the death of Francisco Franco Catalonia saw an oppertunity to slip away from Spain during a time of reformation in the country towards a democratic nation. During that time a descendant of the Catalan Royal House moved to rally the people behind the idea of an independent Catalonia. Thanks to the power of the descendant's paternal/maternal house north of the bay of biscay he won his dream of an independent Catalonia and thus with a final message to the Spain government on the 1st of January 1979 he declared the independence of Catalonia from Spain and the founding of an independent Catalonia. This independence was in part backed by Brittney and other nations like Samogitia. It was one of the most peaceful transitions to occur during that time period.

Advancements Through the Coming Decades
Thanks to Catalonia's location and climate, the new born nation saw a mass of tourism due to the countries weak economy at the time. Millions upon millions of Europeans flocked to the country from spring all the way through till the end of the summer and even through out winter to enjoy the weather and amenities. Thanks to this Catalonia saw itself as one of the top tourist destinations and slowly saw it's economy build up over the 80s and 90s.

Catalonia developed itself a massive export industry in which the country used over time as a foundation along with tourism to make a stable and evergrowing economy. With close ties to Brittney through royality the country saw massive support and development from Breton companies. The 2000s commodities boom saw increase in the countries economy as well as a baby boom which saw Catalonias population steadily rise until the end of 2006.

Current Date
As of now Catalonia boasts a strong economy and technologically advanced military force. With 4 decades of the constant paranoia that Spain might try and reclaim Catalonia, the country placed a large budget on their annual military spending. Catalonia's main supplier of military equipment is Germany, while the country produces it's own domestically made assault rifle.

Military Power
Catalonia has a small but highly technological and advanced standing military.

The Standing Military Force of Catalonia is;
20,000 Personnel spread among the 3 main branches.

Army
17,000 Regular Personnel
4,500 Reservist Personnel

Navy
2,000 Regular Personnel

Airforce
1,000 Regular Personnel
500 Reservist Personnel

Casualties continue to steadily mount for the FWA. At the start of the campaign Cordoba had entered the city with a force of about 1500 men, 400 of which being actual frontline troops with the rest being support elements. So far the FWA's casualties have amounted to about 53 dead with another 100 wounded. Out of the enemy's estimated strength of about 300+ fighters it's unknown how many have been killed. Confirmed casualty figures are difficult to come by with the cluttered nature of the urban battlefield, but it is so far estimated that around a quarter of the original insurgent force remains holed up on the other side of the Anilao River.

July 2nd
The FWA has made multiple attempts to cross the river but each time their attack is repelled by the heavily-entrenched defenders. The flooding makes fighting in adjacent buildings an absolute nightmare, and neither side can make the other budge. Word is that the advance elements are being ordered to halt the attack and dig in to consolidate what they've taken.
Garageshootout.jpg

With the weather easing up a modicum, the FWA has been able to use the harbor to start moving in supplies and reinforcements.
gm_black_v30011.jpg

With a supply route open for the time being (no doubt soon to become a target of the government's choppers with the skies clearing) the FWA is able to begin equipping their troops in the city with some more respectable gear. First and foremost is a new uniform, generously donated en masse by anonymous sympathetic tailors throughout the island.
gm_black_v30009.jpg
July 6th.
With the declaration of secession by Barerra the month before, Cordoba has taken it upon himself to begin organizing the FWA into an actual military. Having received their fresh supplies, uniforms and volunteers, Cordoba formally establishes the 1st Waray Rifle Regiment and assumes personal command, appointing four of his most trusted lieutenants to lead the component companies. With the influx of recruits the FWA's numbers in and around Ormoc have grown to 2200 troops total; 880 front line troops and 1320 logistics personnel. As it stands the city is split down the middle with the Anilao acting as the dividing line. FWA forces control the western half and the airfield to the north.

7th of July Nykøbing, Denmark..

The controversial mercenary group Meytus ChVK currently fighting in Denmark, had more pictures and videos leaked to the internet, the pictures featured abusive treatment of captured service members from the Samogitian army and posing with dead bodies of both Danish and Samogitian troops. The videos consisted of combat footage filmed on helmet and chest cameras. There has been rumours that Meytus themselves uploads this to the internet as an attempt to demoralize Samogitia and the IPA. From all the footage gathered, about 18 mercenaries has been confirmed dead, unknown amounts of wounded.

Operation BorderKeeper
Was a military exercise carried out by the Democratic Republic of Brakhovt to maintain the operational readiness of the troops, in addition to demonstrating strength, the military exercise lasted from June 29 to July 6, with the participation of soldiers from the 3 branches of the armed forces.
The scenario of this military exercise consists of a hypothetical border conflict between Brakhov and a red country, with Brakhovt's mission being to reconquer territories captured by the red country.

June 29th

That was the day to start the BorderKeeper operation exercise, about 10,000 soldiers from the army, 2000 marines and 800 airborne soldiers, the first phase of the exercise consisted of the transport and logistics of military equipment to the area of operation.

Soldiers planning and organizing the logistics to carry out the military exercise, military observers from the Khabarovsk Federation were sent as a way to bring diplomatic and military relations between the two countries closer.

July 1st
The first soldiers to be employed were the soldiers of the 4th Infantry Regiment, their task would be to provide fofo support and cover for the advance of the 2nd Battalion Mechanized Infantry.

July 7th, Ormoc...
With the fighting having died down to sporadic shellings and rocket barrages, the FWA begins to move engineers into the darkened interior of the city. They set about the arduous task of getting the power up and running again in the ruined city blocks. Generators are rigged up in FOBs at strategic junctions and the engineers roll out miles of cable. Patrols have taken to attaching chemlights to their kit in order to reduce friendly fire incidents in the oppressive darkness. The solution is less than perfect as it makes them easy targets for enemy snipers, though it's the best one they have.
gm_black_v30003.jpg

July 9th
The blocks in the immediate area around Sto. Niño are the first to receive power once again. Hasty checkpoints are set up by the FWA and the last few pockets of jihadis are cleaned out from around the central districts of the city. The weather has mercifully been calm, if not dreary. It's predicted to persist for a few weeks more though the downpours can be expected to return with a vengeance at some point.
gm_black_v30004.jpg

July 11th
As the western side of the city is slowly filled with the warm glow of life again, the eastern side of the Anilao remains steeped in pitch blackness. The jihadis have clearly made no attempt to restore power on their side of the river and have simply gone underground like rats, harassing patrols along the waterway. The FWA has adopted an "aggressive response policy" regarding shooters on the eastern bank; any sighting of a single muzzle flash is met with every heavy gun possible lighting up the offending structure before a few well-placed mortar rounds reduce it to rubble.
gm_black_v30008.jpg

July 14th
In the weeks since the jihadists retreated across the Anilao the FWA's engineers have been hard at work pumping excess storm water from the city's inundated sewers and runoff tunnels. Every last tanker truck be it water, fuel or any other kind of fluid storage vehicle with a pump system is repurposed to dispose of the storm water as quickly as possible. The trucks are prime targets for insurgents, though activity on the eastern side of the river has been rather quiet for the last few days.

Isabel, Western Leyte Coast. July 14th...
With the fighting stabilized in Ormoc for now and Barerra sprung from prison, Cordoba had been recalled from the front to meet his partner in crime a few days prior. The location is the coastal town of Isabel, situated on the furthermost western fringe of the island. Until Ormoc is entirely reclaimed from the jihadis, this is the acting capitol of the Free Territory of Leyte. Waiting for his partner on the docks, Cordoba casually burns down a cigarette while a garbage scow pulls into port. A very irritated (and rather smelly) Barerra emerges from the heaps of trash along with Whitman (doing a rather poor job of trying to look inconspicuous) and step onto the docks to meet a smiling Cordoba...
Cordoba: (wearing a shit-eating grin from ear to ear) "Well Constantín, it's so good to finally see you again! I certainly hope you enjoyed your vacation, and I do hope the travel accommodations were to your liking."
Barerra: (visibly annoyed as he attempts to save what's left of his shirt from the trash juice soaking into it) "Of course, you always book such lovely first class trips...
Cordoba: Only the best for you my friend. Now let's get you two a shower and change of clothes huh?"

gm_black_v30019.jpg

After a stop off for a shower and a change of clothes, the trio move along for some time before coming to a construction yard that seems conspicuously quiet despite being so well-lit. A pair of sleepy-looking armed guards emerge from the shadows and take their time identifying the three in the car before moving to open the gate.
Whitman: "Sir are you sure this is safe? I mean this guy was never part of the cause to begin with, how do we know he hasn't sold us out?"
Barerra: "Relax Whitman, I've worked with this man many times before. He's never done me wrong. If it wasn't for him handling the bulk of my finances this movement wouldn't have even gotten off the ground."

gm_black_v30005.jpg

Barerra and company would find themselves in what would appear to be the foreman's office from the outside. As he consults his finance manager, Raul Vega, the news of his situation becomes more and more grave.
Vega: "Look Constantín, I'm telling you that this just isn't feasible. All of your accounts were frozen and your assets seized when they locked you up. Even if they didn't you still wouldn't be able to fund a project this massive without outside investors..."
Barerra: "Raul if we can't get across the Anilao this whole thing will be for nothing. The Filipino government is going to retaliate soon and we NEED to have a strong position to hold out and reinforce from. We've managed to get enough anti air rockets onto the island to hold out against their choppers but that's only if we don't have to worry about getting stabbed in the flank by jihadis. We NEED to get heavy construction equipment and rebuild the bridges, for God's sake look at all this hardware you have just laying around in the yard here!"
Vega: "Who's gonna buy all the gas to keep it running huh? Pay for the repairs? Face it man, you bit off more than you can chew with Ormoc."
Whitman: (who had been listening silently up till this point, he would chime in suddenly) "Sir, if I might propose a plan.. I think I know how we might be able to make some significant money quickly."
Barerra: "Alright, let's hear it Whitman."
Whitman: "You know there's a significant black sand mining operation in MacArthur principality, right?"
Barerra: "Forget it Whitman, that place is deep in enemy territory on the other end of the island. Besides what are we going to do, steal the sand? I don't think anyone in our ranks has the know how to run a mining operation like that."
Whitman: "No sir, but considering the government kicked out or incarcerated most of the foreigners on the island..."
Vega: "Then I'm sure they'd be more than happy to get their seized assets back..."
Whitman: "And would probably be more than happy to continue doing business in the future..."
Vega: "Well it sounds solid on paper but, I don't know..."
Barerra: "We wouldn't be able to spare the men. We need everyone we can get for Ormoc right now, and I'm sure most of our fighters wouldn't be too thrilled about the idea of dying to get some foreigner's property back."
Whitman: "Leave that to me sir, I know what rocks to turn over on this island..."

Roaming the wilds of the failed state of Russia, a band of mercenaries has been growing in strength for some time. Consisting of deserters, veterans and out of work private contractors, this group has come to call themselves the
"LEGIO FORTVNA"
(Fortune Brigade)

gm_black_v30004.jpg

The Legio Fortvna primarily operates around the district of Omsk in central Russia along the Kazakhstan border, though there have been rumors of them operating in places as far away as Kazakhstan and Belarus. They don't seem to have a primary base of operations and there's no central leadership that anyone outside the group is aware of, with the different cells only being loosely affiliated with eachother. It's rumored that their numbers are somewhere around 2000+ but their highly mobile and secretive nature makes it difficult to be certain. What is known for sure is that the group is well-equipped, well-trained and highly ruthless in pursuit of a payday.
gm_construct0013.jpg

When not taking on contracts for the various failed ex-states and feuding Russian oligarchs the mercenaries take to raiding military stockpiles for supplies and ammunition. Most of the time the posts are so poorly equipped and under-staffed that the soldiers guarding it are easily eliminated or simply join the Brigade.
gm_black_v30002.jpg

The Legio Fortvna takes on a wide array of contracts from VIP extractions, physical security, asset retrieval, the like. The only contracts the Brigade will not accept are ones that are directed at civilian targets such as assassinations or indiscriminate terror attacks, though they're not particularly squeamish about non-combatant casualties when on the job.
