Frontline medics are combat essential targets and active combatants. There are more capable healthcare elements and surgical teams available, just never near the frontline. The medic's main task is to ensure rudamentary safety through maintaining combat effectiveness, not necessarily to deal with the entirety of the damage. This is also why the medics of this time and age are taught the basics of keeping peoples' battlegear from shutting down in the heat of the action.

Unfortunately I believe that Shadow has for the moment reserved the frontline medic role.

There is also the fact that Heisenberg just mentioned.
Yes I did lmao

Just so you know, Mal's in my discord channel, looking at my virtual library. Since it has a wealth of resources on various topics, from the military to civil life, he'll take his time there.
In the meantime, if you're interested in this channel of mine, I could invite you guys there so you could see what I have to offer.
It's a good way to pass the time here.

This seems very interesting! Well developed too, at least, in comparison and contrast to the other roleplays I've browsed in this section, though I'm slightly apprehensive as to whether this is still open or not. Regardless, I'm very interested in the specialist position; particularly, something that's rooted in artillery, strategy and military engineering. I would definitely like to explore those topics if they were to be allowed in this circumstance.

Also, an auxiliary matter, but is there a discord channel for this group? I find it easier to communicate there.

Alright. Like I've been telling everybody, basically finished my road to platinum so I can get back to being a roleplayer.

I wanted to make my specialist a platoon attache. I believe I already told you my intentions before.

I remember, and have paid your character idea significant heed. Been trying to incorporate the idea into the overall story in as good a way as I can feasibly manage. As Heisenberg said, I've been looking a bit for information particularly regarding how sea-to-land artillery works. I came into the course after reading a bunch of seperate topics alltogether. I might spoil it too much if I say exactly what it is I'm currently looking into, but I am trying hard to make the way that the military will function and how the people within it behave realistically and believably.

Since you two seem to have similar ideas, maybe try and coordinate something together? I am proud to have such a patient group as this for my first roleplay in a while, and I have decided to do my best in the worldbuilding and information filling, as well as adopting new ideas and concepts as I continue to learn, so I don't want to put anything concrete out until I feel it's realistic and valid enough (such as the 15 plutoon military unit from before).

Qazi Qazi I find that idea to be of great interest as well, and ONI seems to have a similar idea. Maybe try and work something out between the two of you? I can say my share as well, if it is desired. Though I don't want much overlap when it comes to specialists within the same fireteam/unit.

The roleplay is certainly open, I was just disheartened to begin with due to the absence of the majority of those who had momentarily prior shown interest.

Qazi Qazi , thank you for the compliment. I have some experience with worldbuilding but my character writing abilities are far less honed. RPN used to be filled with experienced roleplayers like myself, haven't looked around much since my return though.

Fantástico. I'll beam out some planning shillings with ONI. Though it would most certainly be easier if there was a Discord server. Faster, real-time communication, you know.

When reading one of the military manuals I got from the Internet Archives, I suppose you could be a fire control officer. Or you could be in charge of an artillery battery.
It could look something like this:

No, we don't have a discord group. If Mal wanted to, he could make one. I have my own channel that acts a virtual library of sorts. I can bring you in if you're interested.

I would certainly like that!

Warfare looks a bit less static than it used to be in the interstellar age. I'll further explain momentarily; Due to the implementation of spaceborne combat platforms like ships, combat support and artillery has been provided from orbital locations onboard specific ground support vessels coordinated by a comprehensive cloud-based quantum network operated by ALADIN in order to both calculate and simulate each shot and coordinate with ground-based platforms, each with a quantum beacon connected to the same network of which ALADIN resides. So artillery support until now has been handled artificially and autonomously until now, but unfortunately for us, ALADIN is having some issues when we arrive at our destination. Reasons unknown.

The different branches of the military handle seperate aspects of the same greater battlefield, no longer seperated by artificial material barriers, and instead combating in the same cooperative network. The army handles the frontline and the close quarters fighting, with the navy ensuring their safety and support from the heavens, both defending the planet from outside influences, and also supporting the ground targets with artillery and rapid deployment. The Airforce protects both the space and the skies above their sibling branches respectively, and additionally provides support to the ground should they need a bit less destructive and a bit more precise CAS than a 680mm support cannon capable of sending a supersonic projectile through orbit and into the atmosphere in a few minute's time.

Refering to a question of Heisenberg's, he was wondering where in the military the 715th stands in relation to the rest of the expeditionary forces. The 715th is an elite unit not unlike modern special forces today, like the Green Berets. More relatable to Rangers and Marines, the 715th are frontline recon with armored support from LAVs and other lightly armored support and transport vehicles. It is our task to scout things out when something needs scouting and it is too dangerous to send either airborne scouts or the orbital scanners and optics aren't enough for whatever reason. We also operate in tandem with other army assets. The Special Operations Wing "Werewolf", the entity of which the 715th are a part of was created in tandem with IUN combat aboard Gestirnburg and is at present stationed with a variety of units all across the IUN as parts of garrisons and peacekeeping fleets across human space.

The 715th Armored Recon is one of three elite units affiliated with the 1st Expeditionary Fleet, the other one being the Dropshock Airborne, a rapid deployment medevac equipped for frontline battlefields and fielded with capable frontline combatants and medics. Due to them deploying with a Dropshock Hawk, they are also able to bring with them a large variety of medicines and life saving instruments and treatments to stabilize whilst wounded are being handled. After which they will then take off and rapidly make way towards the orbital fleet or the safest ground base.

The 715th are currently under the employ of the Expeditionary Fleet's Frontier Admiral, who in turn has ordered us to support and aid the Strikefleet currently in orbit around Haven, under Admiral Joyeux.

After reading all the information. I'm incredibly interested in participating in this RP! Has someone reserved the role of Designated Marksman yet?

Currently finalizing the Tactical Informations Center; it's a lore addition which will include known deployed assets in and around Haven along the 1st Expeditionary Fleet.

I noticed I posted the stuff in the Character area; have now corrected it. I also added a bit about the 715th's history.

Strenghts: What is that one unique thing that only you can bring to the table? What makes YOU a core aspect of one of the best, one of the most proud, and one of the most vicious of units in the IUN? What makes you deserve the badge of the 715th?

Strenghts
Literally unplayable.
I'll try to read up everything so far within the next few days.

Take your time, not only am I patient, but it seems like my group is too.

Can we post up our characters already? Ive just been stalking around here thinking it wasnt ready yet lmao

Yeah, go ahead. I'm just adding to it as I get my information finished.

Note that some of the statistics are being fine-tuned by me as I try to reason with the scope and capabilities of not only the IUN but also other aspects.

If anyone has any questions or curiosities/ideas, then please do not keep them to yourselves. I like to hear not only what others think about what I've done so far, but also the ideas that people might have regarding what I've done.

I'm still trying to read it all, and it's a lot to digest. And I still haven't found your policies and what you expect from me aside from the obvious like a well-done CS.

As I understand it so far; it's a highly realistic, militaristic, "tacticool" future setting where we fight against aliums that randomly attacked us... Besides the setting, are we expected to write such long pieces of prose as simple IC ourselves, as players, during the game? I see to it that there's only so many words you can use to describe someone walking down a hallway, say, as an example. I'm only complaining if that's going to be the SOP.

Edit: Oh, apologies, I just found it. As I said, I'm still reading things.
