A dalish mage gaining the shapeshifter specialization through the werewolf curse? I’m not sure how that would work. First thought I’d ask is... wouldn’t that at most mean they’d only be able to transform into a werewolf?
I believe this is correct. Shapeshifting in general could be learned though. But being a shapeshifter and a werewolf is a bit much lol
That was my thinking since as well, I know of no case where a werewolf can return to their original form nor change back once the curse is lifted. A Dalish shapeshifter is fine and even makes sense as a specialization they’d choose imo. But both I can’t see working or possible in DA lore.

mentioned, the curse would act as a gateway. An initial form change that gives a mage the clues as to how shape shifting would work, and building from there.
An...odd use of the species. Then again, part of what I think is cool about the species is their size and horns. Playing one with easily hidden horns, or even the canonical hornless ones just seems to be missing the point. At least, to me.

I agree on the qunari front. As for the shapeshifting, in the ttrpg it's one of the specialties listed for mages level 6 and up. I'll check it out and see if it lists something about what is required :>
