Fantasy Descendants of the Curse

(I feel like such a fool I even saw the bloody movie and still my brain didn't make the connection! It took a YouTube video about the Simpson's Easter eggs to show me the light.D':)

(Also I don't really know when to time skip to, so if you have an idea go for it. I noticed we haven't really done anything with the others too, and we kinda left Apollo, Amber and Fredric at a cliff hanger.)

It had been a few weeks since the mating misunderstanding, and still things had not returned to normal. Thea remained in her den with her father and she had not come out for much. She didn't speak to Sabella and she didn't speak to Don.
Sabella had felt more lonely ever in the past weeks yet being alone was often her only solace.
Today the whole earth seemed gray. Rain drizzled relentlessly from the clouds and the sodden earth clumped between Sabella's feet. She wore no shoes, muddied trousers and a loose white blouse that clung desperately to her bony shoulders and a large sack slung across her side. The whole pack seemed more skeletal than actual muscle and fat as the wild game decreased. Just a few days ago a group of younger wolves had come across mundane traps, made of ropes, wires and sharp metals. Today, Sabella was wondering the woods, pulling them down and tearing them, putting what food the human traps had snagged into her bag. She felt no guilt stealing from these, her pack was starving and these men only killed for sport and pelts, hardly ever needing the meat inside.
Pulling a rain soaked squirrel from a noose like rig, Sabella stuffed it into her bag and continued on her way, tugging wet strands of hair behind her ears. Another pack member was to meet her soon to take the game she had already collected so that it could be cooked for the pack and she could continue with her work.

Amber knew Apollo was out hunting and there pups were being taught by some of the newer pack members for they had only been turned recently and their school education was still fresh in their minds. It was her idea the pups be taught human and witch history as well as their own history as to know their enemy better. And it was with that mentality that Amber ventured off in search of Fredric's "wife", she knew he would never take a wife without her knowing so it only took her a moment to remember Lottie. The youngest of Fredric's sisters and one that almost died like Maddie had at the Super Blood Moon massacre, Amber had not scene the young girl in years and looked forward to seeing her again.

*after several hours of travel*

Amber approached Fredric's home it was his late parents' house, and where so much had happened. She remembered all the fond memories she had of this place and suddenly felt very lonely, she had been completely separated from her old friends for more than thirteen years. No talking, no letters not even catching their scent while on a hunt. This saddened her but her feelings were quickly pushed aside by the shocking appearance of the house and the area around it. Everything was pitch black and looked as it had been burned, all the surrounding trees were dead with no grass growing within one hundred feet of the house. This worried her so carefully she approached the door only to hear a horse voice whisper "Don't touch it....don't touch anything....it will kill you...." Amber frowned then almost screamed in shock from the pale figure a teenage girl in the window staring face pressed against the glass but there was no breathing to fog up the glass. "L-Lottie...?" Amber asked her voice shaking as she stared at the young woman in shock. At first it looked like Lottie was covered in swirling insects but then Amber saw it was actually specks of ash just like the surroundings outside. She had seen this only one other place and that was Mary's mother. Which brought her to a startling thought. Had Lottie been brought back from the dead? "Not quite." Lottie said like she could read Amber's thoughts. "Where is Fredric?" She asked not letting her respond. "Uhh..." Amber started shamefully and then told Lottie everything. Without a word Lottie nodded pressed on the door and it rotted and crumbled away under her fingertips. Silently she started following Amber's trail from back to the den, and with every step Lottie took she left a charred lifeless foot print behind. "Don't step on them if you value your life, and do not worry they only last about an hour." Lottie said again without Amber even needing to speak. So off they went Amber carefully leading Lottie back to her den smiling realizing not only had she regained a friend but if used correctly a very very powerful weapon.

Apollo crouched among a small group of his pack members, using his fingers to draw a path in the boggy dirt of the riverside where they sat. The air was thick with the scent of the mule deer they had been following for a few days now and had tracked closer to the debs. He and his group planned a large scale attack on the game in order to have skins and other nessecities made by the time fall and winter consumed the woods.
The woods were far more foreboding now that the threat of war loomed over the heads of their pack and the excitement that usually came with the hunt was not present. Something else however was and it was the scent of his mate.
A small murmer rippled through the group and finally one of the omega's spoke,
"Alpha? Do you have her scent as well? Alpha Amber's?"
Apollo nodded and stood.
"Continue after the herd. I'll take up your scent again afterwards."
The group nodded their reply and hurried towards to banks of the river and Apollo headed away from it and towards the scent of his mate.

Donahue had tried to talk to Thea but she refused to even look at him. So as time passed he eventually accepted that all hope of being with her was gone, he just kind of floated uselessly around the pack then, there was nothing to do but hunt for what little food was left, they tried to move the pack and they end up begining attacked by other packs protecting their territory. It was either stay safe and starve or find food and be murdered. Not two choices Donahue wanted to stick around for Ash to make. So that morning he packed up what little belongings he had and left using the rain to cover his scent so one could follow him. No one would know he left as everyone was inside the den out of the rain. So he started walking carefully through the woods as quitely as possible listening carefully to his surrounding when after a couple hours of traveling he spotting in the distance Sabella, he paused for a moment debating whether or not to let her know of his leaving but then he reasoned why bother? She was either going to report this to Ash and they would try to follow him or it would be awkward like most of their encounters since the misunderstanding. So instead he decided to go around her hoping he wouldn't hear his steps.

The soft rustling of the bush and distinct smell of another wolf caused her to lift her head from her work unknotting another trap.
"Hey!" Sabella called out and waited for a minute. When there was no reply she furrowed her brow and called out again,"Hey! I've got prey for you to take back!"
When no one came forward she shook her head and stooped into a low crouch, managing to untangle and dismantle another trap.
"Stupid omegas," she muttered, not quite loud enough to hear but then quickly shouted louder,"not a brain in their heads!"

Amber looked back down the path and saw a squirrel scurry across one of Lottie's black foot prints taking only seconds for the squirrel's body to be covered in the charcoal like magic. It's body decayed quickly and with a whisp of air was gone disappeared into nothing. This happened with a few more creatures mostly insects, a field mouse and a duckling. And with every being that died from Lottie's tracks seemed to make her more normal. She looked more alive and the Rose tint slowly returned to her face. Amber also noticed that the more normal she became the less visible her footprints were. "Do you hear that?" Lottie suddenly asked and Amber paused she hadn't really been paying attention to her surrounding but instead more on Lottie. Then suddenly she smelt it, the all to familiar scent of Apollo and the other pack members. She knew they could smell her too but instead carried on, if there was a problem they would come to her.

"No wonder none of them like you." Donahue gave a small chuckle stepping out from the trees, with a sack over his shoulder much like Sabella's it almost looked like they were out here for the same reason.

Apollo pushed through the bush, sweeping ferns aside and other leafy fronds until finally he arrived in the path of his mate- but she was not alone and the overwhelming scent of magic stung his nostrils and burned at his eyes.
What the hell was she doing?
What the hell was she doing?!
It was really quite remarkable how as soon as the witchling showed up she chose to disobey him, chose to. It was enfuriating, and that inkling of rage churned his stomach once again, just as it used to.
"What the hell are you doing, Amber?"
He inhaled deeply, a low growl rumbling in his chest.
"You intend to bring this back to the pups? If you don't care much for your own I'm sure you hold some sympathy for the others? What the hell are you doing?"

Sabella turned quickly at Donahue's chuckling, which in turn caused the hair on her neck to rise and guts to flip flop in the most annoyingly pleasant way there could be.
"They sent you out in this weather?"
She meant to sound sarcastic but the stinging sarcasm she had hoped for was infiltrated with concern for him.
"I thought I was the only one the pack enjoyed sending out in the mud and shit for frozen squirrels and rotting pheasants."
Sabella quickly fell back into her squatting position and busied herself untying the last of the knots in order to hide her shamefully red cheeks.

"Stop this Apollo, I know what I am doing, and what I am doing is getting revenge for our lost pups, unlike you who has for years done nothing but rub that fact in my face. Everytime I do something that makes you unhappy you remind me of what happened and you weren't even there! I was the one who saw it, and I was the one who nearly died trying to save them, and now I am the one making sure it wasn't for nothing. Lottie and I will give those ass-tarts a taste of their own medicine with or without you." She said firmly for the first time in their relationship speaking with such authority it left no room for Apollo or the others to question it, and without another word walked away.

"I guess you are, cause I'm not here for stolen dead animal carcasses." He said adjusting his pack and you could hear the clinking of his belongings over the rain. "I'm doing what I thought you would have done a long time ago." He said surprised to see it wasn't traveling gear but rather dead rabbits and birds in her sack.

Sabella gathered her thoughts quickly and then stood, once again simply pale, thin and freckled as per usual, her stony eyes, so much like her father's, bore deeply into the slant of his eyes and mouth.
"And by that you mean-" she paused and glanced down at his traveling sack. A frown crossed her lips and the corners bowed deeply.
"You're leaving the pack."
You're leaving me.

Surprised to see her frown he nodded, he was soaked to the bone from the rain. So he stepped closer to her in order share the coverage from the rain with her allowing him to hear and speak to her easier. "Well, yes that sounds about right." He said expecting to see more of a reaction from her. "I have nothing here for me any longer, so there is no reason for me to stay there." He said with a shrug trying to be casual as he saw her eyes on him, it almost made him feel guilty.

"I suppose."
The close proximity caused her to shiver, however it wasn't because she was cold. She was all too warm with him so close to her and that only deepened her frown and further caused her heart to clench and stomach to flip over.
He was selfish. He would leave her to feed a starving pack on her own when had told her he'd stay. What happened to leaving being to stupid? To dragging her back?
He was selfish as to leave her. He was selfish as to give her no options. She would could never leave now, she could never be free to take her leave and make her own way. He took that with him.
"Well, I won't be the one to stop you, you should be on your way then and I'll be on mine."
She lifted her chin defiantly and clenched her fists at her side, more angry now. Her chest rose and fell steadily as she controlled everything within her to not reach out and slap him, to hurt him and hope he felt the same about leaving.
Everything clung to her in the rain, her hair to her cheeks, her blouse to her chest, back and hips, her trousers to her thighs and calves. And yet even in the rain he chose to unstick from her and leave her standing wet and sodden, to trek back to the dens- alone.

Apollo turned swiftly and grabbed her arm, pulling her back to him, firmly yet as gently as he could. She was still his mate despite all she did to oppose him now.
"Amber. Please, you don't know what you're doing. The pack will not react well to this. You can't put their sanity in danger as well. They'll go mad with their alpha bringing another witchling into camp. Please, they'll be furious."

"You don't want to come?" He asked surprised his brows furrowing as he looked at her. "You were the one who gave me the idea, I honestly expected you to yell at me for not telling you sooner so you could pack up too." He looked at her his green eyes bright even in the shadows the trees cast. Picking up on her body language he could tell she was infact mad at him he just didn't know what for. "Why do you think I found you?" He said with a half smile hoping she wouldn't stay mad at him, especially if this really was their last meeting. It was a lie, he had no plans to invite her or anyone else with him, but for some reason he didn't like the idea of her being mad at him right now.

She furrowed her brows and her upper lip twitched into a small snarl. He was just as she had expected him to be when he had stepped foot into the pack. He was another self absorbed, self obsessed omega who thought he had what it took to be an alpha, a leader.
"Perhaps to pick up a snack on your way out? After all I've got plenty of rotting carcasses to feed the families you are so quick to leave behind. Here why don't you take one for the road?"
Sabella shoved her hand into her bag and produced the squirrel she had just taken down only to throw it at his feet.
"So you won't go hungry. You'll need to keep your strength up to find that perfect pack, that perfect mate that you've always wanted."
Sarcasm dripped venemously from each word and his light hearted attitude and cheeky smiles hung in the air like daggers.

"The only one furious right now is me Apollo." She said in shock and anger that he would think to grab her like this in front of the pack. He hadn't treated her like this since before they formed their own pack and it made her sick. "You don't know what you're doing Amber. You don't know what to do Amber. You're wrong Amber. How many times have you told me that huh? Far too many, because everytime you do I know exactly what I'm doing, but no we do what you say and then half the pack gets sick, we lose three-fourths our territory, our enemies get closer and our pups get slaughtered. So un-hand me now, because this time we're going with my plan, and it will be their pups who die not mine." She said firmly starring Apollo in the eyes appauled at how he was reverting to his old ways.

He pulled his hand away from her quickly, ashamed now that he had grabbed at her. But all the same what she wanted was to put his pack in danger.
"You know nothing about leadership Amber! And I will be the first to admit the fault is my own! I took you when you were far too young to understand this all, it was a mistake but we have now is not. All we have fought for and others have died for. We are alive for these ten years and thriving in our valley because of what happened, what I've done! Because of what we've done together! Please do not bring her back to the dens, do not comprise the livelihoods of the rest of the pack for these witchlings. We as a pack, as wolves will sort these matters out."
Apollo pleaded more softly now with his mate. He could not have these creatures in his dens, with his pack, his family. The pack would be insulted.
"Amber. They drove us from our home in the first place. You have to understand the pack's outlook on these things, please Amber. Consider it."

Donahue frowned at her picking up the squirrel and immediately putting it back into her bag. "As fun as that sounds it would be hard to do when according to our pack and now many other outside packs you are my mate." He said firmly, looking her in the eyes. There were other things he wanted to say but he knew they would only anger her more. He considered her a friend but her acting like this only made him question that idea more.

"No Apollo, they didn't drive us out. Ash did, because you were violent and possessive and he could do nothing to keep you from causing fights or abusing me constantly so he banished you, because though you have changed now you were the reason we no longer have alliance with my family. You brought that on us, not I, not my family, and not the witches. You may have taken me young but you still know nothing about me, or all that I have been through in live, and if you can't get that through your thick skull then I am taking my pups, And the witch lungs and leaving this pack to show you what a good alpha really is." She replied quickly and angrily that last part a harsh cruel whisper she had never used before.

"It'll look awfully bad on your part leaving then."
She quaked she was so infuriated by his childish nonsense. He was simply running away from it all and she couldn't.
As bitter a person as she was her feelings towards his moving on was perhaps the most horrible sort of feelings she'd felt thus far. Bottled so tightly as she desperately attempted to keep her composure but as it dawned on her quite quickly that he would be going now it was aiming to explode, all this patientance she had somehow managed to muster.
"Horribly in fact, quite frankly, mate or not you told me you would help me. Being your "mate" was only a small perk seeing as you are incredibly good looking and very well know it and you know a decent bit about a majority of things, a majority of things but not women!" She slung her sack of dead rodents higher up on her shoulder,"all men want, beast or man or whatever you male wolves are, is a soft girl with wide hips and not a brain in her head! I wish you the best of luck finding anything but that as you seem to be completely blind to any other sort of female attention! I can guarantee that three days into these woods you won't find any soft girls- or me for that matter!"

"You'll do nothing of the sort. You will not. I don't know what has gotten into you but this isn't who you are or how you save us. This will ruin everything we've built here."
Apollo frowned bitterly and turned away from her, a sadness creeping into him like none he'd ever felt as he looked over his shoulder at his strange and unfamiliar mate.
"If you think this will save him, it won't. He'll be dead before you return I can tell you that much for sure."
The alpha male then disappeared into the bush, whispering quickly to his omega's who set out to take his children and the other young families further into the valley.
