Fantasy Descendants of the Curse

Donahue frowned at her. "Sabella... I don't want a 'soft girl' I want...." His voice trailed, he was now understanding why she was so up set. Not knowing what she wanted him to do he dropped his bag stepping forward and suddenly hugging her tightly. Besides their breif banter on the night of the feast this was the closest and most intimate he had ever been with her. "I'm sorry I upset you, I'm sorry things have gone to hell, but if...." He was about go on and explain how if any one was to survive they would have to leave this famished land, but instead he held her a bit longer in his muscular embrace before carefully speaking "What do you want from me?" His gaze pleading for her not to be upset anymore, he knew she want him as a mate and he knew she wanted him to stay but he knew that wasn't everything.

"Don't you dare!" Lottie retorted angrily as Apollo left. With a swipe of her hand the trees that the pack had just past through blackened and rotted away leaving many of them midstep and terrified. "Lottie this is my home!" Amber quitely panicked as she saw the destruction, but Lottie paid no mind to her and had her eyes trained on Apollo standing by what once had been an great old birch tree was now nothing more than a pile of dead ash. "Release Fredric unharmed now or I will quickly become your worst enemy leaving the entire country and everything in it like those trees." Lottie replied coolly, knowing though she didn't have the power to do that, they didn't so the threat held. Especially with Amber who was not only frightened of what Lottie had done to her land but she was also worried about the monster Lottie had become. "I trusted you." Amber whispered hoarsely to Lottie but again she was no more. "Release Fredric." Lottie said once more stepping closer to Apollo.

Sabella stiffened as his arms gripped her like a sort of vice, she then almost quite literally melted. Her legs felt weak, she felt knock kneed and exhausted and as though moving now would only lead to her plummeting to the ground. Skin stuck to skin and the dampness in their clothing caused the embrace to be slightly uncomfotable but only because she could feel more of him on her skin than ever before.
"I want-" she really wasn't quite sure what she wanted herself now. She had expected him to leave up to this point not to stay and hug her.
"I want nothing from you but then I want everything," she was flustered now and for the first time not trying to hide it,"part of me wants you to turn around now and leave and find something better and another part wants you to hike your ass back to the dens all while hauling back a- a moose or something because I am so hungry."
She swallowed and then continued her voice lowered as did her eyes. She was embarrassed and raw and vulnerable, three things she had never experienced so stingingly.
"But most of all, and all of me and every part of me, wants you. Anyway I possibly can."
Her voice, once so clear and all the while poisonous, wavered and was uncertain.

Apollo turned cooly to the witch and his mate, studying the remains of the birch tree with careful conciseness. He then lifted his head to look at the witch and then to his mate again, cocking his head to the side and studying not Lottie but Amber with a disdainful look of scorn.
"You'll put the entirety of the pack in danger for this piece of witchling trash. You'll allow this creature to destroy your home and everything in it," he lowered his voice,"is that what it will take for you to finally put us first?"
Apollo called over his shoulder.
"Bring the witchling! He'll be going now."

Don nodded glad to feel she relaxed. He was glad to have run into her before leaving because seeing her reaction he knew she probably would have tried to hunt him down and kill him for up and leaving. So he enjoyed her uncertainness for a moment longer his eyes closed as he leaned his forehead against hers. "Come with me then, and we can find that moose together."

The idea of leaving seemed fanciful and far fetched now as she stood there clinging to Donahue in the rain, a sack of molded squirrels at her feet.
She allowed the moment to pass with her head against his. The dampness of the evening was a stark contrast the warmth he provided.
He could provide for her. Isn't that what all she wolves wanted? Needed?
"Donahue," she inhaled his scent deeply and her eyelids fluttered softly only allowing his soft breath to be filtered out of her senses by the shifting of the wind,"I can't leave them. They need me more than you do, you don't need me."
She drew her face back just a touch so she was able to look at him directly.

Donahue frowned. What the hell?! He thought looking down at her. She had become so upset at his leaving and for months she had been wanting to leave this place to start her own pack and now that he was giving her the chance to she was saying this? It didn't make sense and it rather annoyed him. She just said she wanted him, well he was practically offering himself up to her with the invite to come with him but she was declining it. The cold rain wasn't helping either with several large droplets falling through their covering and hitting them, but he ignored it and held Sabella close. This almost seemed like a test, and he didn't want to mess it up and upset her especially seeing how he just got her to calm down. So still thinking this was some kind of test he decided he was going to change her mind one way or another. Keeping his demeanor gentle and calm he closed his eyes and let one hand slowly trail her arm coming up to her jaw and cupping her face. "But I do..." He whispered softly his thumb tenderly brushing against her check. They're lips mere inches apart it would have taken no effort on his part for their lips to meet and him to embrace her in a flurry of kisses, but he didn't instead keeping their lips temptingly close.

She was so warmed by this affection she thought perhaps she would melt at this point. He genuinely cared for her and it seemed as much by the way he held her and now by the way his lips brushed hers when he spoke.
She had been waiting for this. Wanting for this. She had dreamt of him while Thea held his hand and she had watched as they had shared whispers and she had sat at the edge of the dens, bitter and confused as to what her feelings were.
However confusing what was happening now was it was not bitter. It was a flurry of nerves and touch and wanting.
I want you.
I need you.

Sabella had always taken what she needed and craved for what she wanted. At this point however she couldn't decipher one from the other. He was a luxury and a nessecity, he was wine and water.
"If we leave now," she whispered, her nose brushing against his and fingertips pressing lightly to his cheeks,"I'll go with you. I can't go back to see them, it'll break me."

Donahue smirked hearing her say that, glad that she argeed. She was right he didn't understand women, they were complex and dynamic beings making it hard to read them. So he mentally congratulated himself on being able to get Sabella to agree with him. She was usually straight forward, and hard to change her mind, but then again he usually wasn't playing to her emotions and attraction for him. But she was a strong shewolf and he doubted he could make it own his own without her. That's why he was so upset when it seemed like she wouldn't join him. "Thank you, Sabella..." He said sweetly letting her name roll off his tongue as her gently pressed his lips to her forehead. Something he would have had to lean down to do for Thea but with Sabella she was the perfect height.

He pulled his lips away and she felt as though she had been cheated of something innately human. She pursed her lips slightly and took a small step into their quiet embrace. He was so much a wolf and yet- so incredibly human in his careful and gentle movement. It was strange and soft and she supposed the first new thing to happen on this new journey, away from anything known.

Amber looked back at her mate trying to stay strong in her decision but the way he looked at her made her want to cry, she had not planned for Lottie to threaten her mate or her pack, but the witch did it anyway. "Lottie we had a deal. Threatening my pack was not part of it." Amber replied to Lottie who no looker looked like the shambling and weak version of herself before but now was rejuvenated from the life taken from the forest. "Someone had to teach him some manors." Lottie retorted, she was no longer the sweet little girl, her entire life was nothing but a living hell of pain and death hardening her to the problems of others. The only good thing in her life was her brother, that's why she was here, to help him not Amber or these wolves. Amber felt tears sting her eyes as she looked at a virtual carbon copy of Mary when she first met the young witch, only Lottie was colder more unforgiving and Amber didn't like it. But she stood her ground "I am putting them first." She replied looking at her mate but before anything else could be said Fredric was tossed out into the opening almost landing in a pile of the pitch ash. "Fredric!" The two women yelped as they ran to him. He was so bruised and broken they could hardly recognize him. "Amber...." He choked blood dripping from his mouth as his entire body was trembling too weak to stand on his own the two women helped him up. "M-Midnight..." Was all he could muster to say before collapsing onto Lottie. Worried Amber looked to Lottie who frowned. "I'll take him to the coven to heal, I'll return before sundown to help you." She replied letting Amber see the first bit of good emotion on Lottie's face since she saw her last.

Lottie left carrying Fredric, leaving Amber standing in front of Apollo. "We can't do this alone." She said her low and quite but held with in it much confidence and affirmation.

The rain was getting lighter and he knew soon pack members would be outside roaming around again and they would quickly be found. "We should get going." He said pulling away from her for a second just long enough to pick up his satchel. "If I may be honest I actual wanted to head to the cities, we as werewolves hardly ever get to go into human towns for more than a few hours to steal things, but I heard whispering that in London a whole pack lives and works there and the humans have no idea." He was smiling now as he found this idea very exiciting and was hoping she thought so too. "There would be plenty of food a decent place to rest and perhaps even a warm bath for once."

"We can and we will. We always have. We fight as wolves and as men, with hand and claw not magic or witches. That is not who we are and that is what will divide us."
Apollo frowned deeply at his mate and shook his head, rubbing his hand down the nape of his neck as if her actions alone had made him sore.
"The greatest betrayal our pack would know was denying our strengths, our roots and our ancestry. We deny those things if we ask for their help- by the looks of that witchling wasn't exactly offering it either. She seemed more keen to destroy than help."

Sabella cocked an eyebrow at Donahue and rolled her eyes.
"Humans don't just give out warm baths and beds. You do need to have some sort of currency that isn't a rotting squirrel for that."
She held up her sack of squirrels and shook it at him.

"That may be so, but I believe they would rather feel a little betrayed and live than be slaughtered without even a fighting chance against the enemy. With their crystals it would be like fighting cannons with wooden clubs." She said stepping closer to Apollo tears welling up in her eyes she didn't want his stuborness to be the reason why she lost her pups once more. "Please Apollo...just this once let them help us..." Tears stung her eyes as she put her hands on his shoulders. "I can't bear to lose anymore...not again..." She weeped tears rolling down her cheeks as she remembered the last time she lost her pups. She could still feel their blood drying on her skin, their managed little bodies falling apart in her arms though now they were the bodies of her sons. "Please...I'm sorry for bringing the witches here, but I'm.... I'm terrified of loosing our pups again...." She sobbed her whole body shaking as she desperately clung to her mate.

Donahue chuckled. "Do you really think that little of me? I must say I'm offended " He said with a disarming grin. He knew they had no money, but he also knew there many other ways to get money from humans. "Come, you said so yourself we should probably get going." He said holding his bag in one hand and Sabella's hand with the other. The rain was getting lighter and he wanted to get going before it was too late.

Apollo's embrace swallowed his small mate whole. He held Amber as close as he possibly could. His heart ached for her, for him, his sons, his lost pups and his pack. He feared there would be nothing he could do, he feared he would have to ask for help--- from witches, from human hunters, from his sister. More than anything he feared that no help would come from them, from moving his pack, from fighting. They would be destroyed within weeks if something wasn't done. He just didn't know what.
All Apollo knew at this point was that he would lay down his life for his family. Amber and his sons were all the love he'd known and he would die a thousand times over and crawl up from hell and go back again if it meant keeping them safe and alive.
Apollo threaded his fingers into Amber's hair, his other hand twisting into the folds of her clothing as he held her so tightly as if the strength of his arms and the pressure of his fingers on her body would cease her trembling and ease her mind.
"I will keep them safe," Apollo crooned softly against her cheek as he nuzzled his face against her, "I will keep you safe, I always have. Nothing will take our sons, nothing can take our sons away from us, and I will make it so. I promise you that."

Sabella slid her hands from his. The embrace she had shared with him was more than enough intimate contact at this point, however as he had grabbed her hand so quickly it obviously wasn't that way for him. A grin, a touch, that's all he thought it took.
That is all it takes, you're going with him aren't you?
She sighed softly and then inhaled deeply, unsure of what to think of herself and her feelings.
"It's not that I think little of you, Donahue, I just know very little. All anyone wants to know about you or talks about you is about-" she swallowed and looked at him from the top of his head to his toes,"you know."

"I believe you..." Amber nodded weakly at Apollo's promise. It did not solve the problem, but it did help assure her that things would be hopefully different this time. She didn't know how yet, but she could only hope. As he held her she slowly stopped shaking so much and looked to Apollo, her golden orange eyes were red and tear stained from crying. "If anything were to happen to them....to you..." She whimpered tears still rolling down her cheeks. "I don't know what I would do..." She whispered hugging him tightly almost afraid to let go of him.

"Oh yes I know," he said at first smirking but then got serious for a moment. "No one ever wants to get to know me, they just know what I can do, or what they want me to do for or to them." He said looking at her knowing she was one of those people. "I can't be mad though, I do the same thing." He chuckled losing his serious demeanor and smiling again then turning around to head off.

"Hush now, you silly woman," he chuckled softly at her worrying about him, of all people.
"Little dove, you have far more to worry about than me. See how easily you can be carried away? How easily one could simply snatch you up and take you away?"
With a small, teasing smile he scooped her off her feet and into his arms quite easily, cradling her against his chest before hunkering down onto the ground and propping the two of them up against a tree as he sat, still holding his mate to him.
"You've nothing to worry about that either however," he kissed her forehead, gentle again rather than teasing,"you'll be with me always and I with you. The whole world wouldn't be right any other way."

Sabella furrowed her brow, slightly confused by his answer but not enough to be angry or frustrated, only curious.
"What do you mean? Do the same thing? What is it you do for others- exactly?"

Amber let out a small gasp as she was picked up, letting out a small giggle as she leaned against him wiping the tears from her eyes. "Since when were you such a romantic?" she teased lovingly glad to have him as a distraction as she leaned against his chest and gently pressed her soft lips to Apollo's scruffy cheek.

"That is for me to know and you to find out." He said as he kept walking he wanted to get as much land between him and the den as possible. "Perhaps one day I'll give you a demonstration. Would you like that?" He said looking back to Sabella with a playful tone.

"I haven't been exactly kind or loving for the last few days, Amber. I miss my time with you- only you."
Apollo nuzzled his cheek against hers. She was so soft and small and yet she was so strong all the same. How she did it was a mystery to him and he tried at times to be more like her to be both strong and gentle with her and his sons.
"The boys take up so much of your time, I can hardly get my little dove all to myself."
He kissed her cheek and moved his lips up the side of his jaw where he then stopped and nibbled at her earlobe playfully.
