Fantasy Descendants of the Curse

"Donahue?"

Thea poked his cheek as she knelt over him. He looked awfully beautiful in the silvery moonlight and she sighed softly as she wrapped his torso in a fur and set down the steaming mug of horrible smelling herbs she had brought for him.

When Sabella had arrived back at the dens something had been amiss and when Thea had asked she had simply and brusquely replied that he had been blundering through the woods.

Thea had then promptly made it her mission to find him before another argument ensued between him and Valac.

Feeling something touching his bare skin Donahue stirred slightly but it was the god awful stench of Thea's mug that Finally woke him. "Good god..." He groaned turning away from the smell only bump into something soft and warm. "What the-!" He exclaimed but once he realized who it was he relaxed. "Thea..." A small smile curving his lips, now he knew he was dreaming, sweet Thea was taking care of her father back at the den not him out here in the cold forest. "You'rrre...beautiful~...like...a sweet lil' angel," he slurred looking up at her smiling, but the smell of the herbs were still getting to him. He gagged "but that does not smell beautiful." He clumsily sat up his nose crinkled. "Smells like human urine and sadness." He muttered with disgust.

"I didn't realize sadness had a smell, but if it did I'm sure this would be it."

Thea smiled weakly and brought the mug to his lips.

"It may not smell nice but it will make you feel a lot better than you do now and tomorrow morning."

She held his chin gently and tipped the mug up towards his mouth.

"Come, I promise it doesn't taste as bad," she urged him,"and after you drink you can tell me what you're doing out in the woods while the party is at the dens."

Unwillingly Donahue took the mug noticing Thea didn't clarify that it wasn't human piss but remembering this was all just a weird alcohol dream he did as he was told. Surprizingly it was very bland compared to its smell so he finished it all. "This better work....or it better kill me quickly, the smell was torture enough." He hiccuped laying back down and looking up at her the moonlight through the trees haloing her. "Sabella wouldn't leave me alone... I thought I could lose her in here,....it didn't work..." He muttered remembering Sabella offer of faking a mated bond and he frowned.

Theodosia raised an eyebrow, that's not what Sabella had told her.

"What happened? Did she do something or say something that upset you?"

She knew that perhaps it was all in his head, Sabella wouldn't do anything to hurt him. Saying something was a different story but she would never ever hurt her prospective mate physically, but she asked anyway.

"Did she hurt you?"

Donahue chuckled knowing Sabella couldn't hurt him, not unless she caught him off guard. "No, she...she was persuing me...now I know how you must feel..." His voice was trailing off as sleep was coming over him but he  tried to fight it. "She wanted me I could tell~" he smirked letting his fingers play with a fold of her dress that was near his face. "Didn't think... anything of it till...till she..." His eyes were flutterimg close. "She made...an offer....to..." He mumbled sleep taking over and he started dosing off.

"What? Donahue! Wake up!"

Theodosia shook him violently as her heart now raced, pumping wildly in her chest as she attempted to make sense of his muddled words.

How could she? How could he even consider it as he had said? What was happening here? Were Sabella and Valac out to ruin her, did they truly hate her so much? Was this Sabella's revenge for her brother?

Thea collapsed, catching herself as she toppled to her hands and knees. Her body quaked as so many thoughts and questions, all unanswered attacked her thoughts, tearing them apart, tearing her apart.

She had no friends now and now no lover or mate to take care of her. She now saw that Sabella was power hungry and villainous just as Donahue was lustful and prideful and Valac-- he was just as horribly weak as she had suspected.

Theodosia let out a horrible wail, tears had now accumulated on her dress and cheeks and blood blossomed where her fingernails had snapped from digging into the earth.

The broken shewolf stood unsteadily and wavered on her feet as she took a few steps forward, grappling at the trees as she went along in order to move forward without toppling over as her grief at the loss of first her lover and now her only friend and mate consumed her.

There was nothing left for her here now. All her dreams were impossible and the Alpha's children were to blame. There would be no reconciliation for her and no justice.

((time skip to next morning? Time to unleash the scandal ))

Sabella crawled out of bed the next morning, stretching her arms wide and arching her back in a feline fashion. She still wore her blouse and pants from last night and she painstakingly stripped the clothes off of her but the boozy smell remained. Sighing, Sabella simply took the liberty of draping a long fur around her nude figure and began her trek out of the den and into the clearing, the river being not to far from the dens.

The shewolf was immediately greeted with dopey grins and a slap on the back as well from a member of the hunting party she had just begun leading.

"Congratulations!"

"Excuse me? What the hell is going on here?"

Sabella barked, gingerly peeling his hand away with a look of disdain and then pulling her fur tighter.

"A congrats is in order! No one ever thought it would happen but here we are! Theodosia told everyone about it! Give my congrats to Donahue!"

"My what? To who? And what exactly did Thea say?"

Sabella's heart was pounding out of her chest, at least that's what it felt like. What had Thea done? What had Don told her last night?

"Your mating of course! It really is a beautiful thing."

With that the omega turned and bounded away to his own young mate.

The world seemed to spiral at that and Sabella suddenly felt quite ill.

"Has anyone seen Donahue this morning? Anyone?!"

Another young shewolf glared over at her but reluctantly spat out an answer.

"In his den, he just came back from the river."

Pushing past the pissy little omega, Sabella hurried to the den of her "mate".

"Donahue? Donahue where are you?!"

Donahue was in his room stretching and working out in his little room trying to loosen up his muscles sore from sleeping on dirt and rocks last night. He was surprised though his hangover wasn't as bad as it should be with how much he drank it is frankly surprising he even woke up this morning. Guess he had Thea to thank for that. He grinned at the memory of her coming to help him at first he thought it was a dream but with how he felt now he knew it was real. He didn't remember much of what happen just the smell of that tea she gave him. Which helped turn his mind spilting migraine into an irritating little headache. Which would easily go away with some decent sleep and- was that Sabella?! What did she want now. He thought to himself turning and looking at her as she entered his den. First surprised she  was only in a fur robe he then saw the look on her face. "What's wrong?"

"Someone overheard our conversation last night and took it the wrong way or you told Thea something! The entire pack believes we've mated! They can't get enough of it! We need to set this straight, you need to set this straight!"

Sabella was livid, wild in fact at the thought that Thea could've spread these rumours or someone tell Thea a load of lies if they had overheard.

"Me?! Why do I need to fix this? Mating was your hair brained scheme I had and wanted nothing to do with it!" He said irritated that she seemed to be accusing him of this giant miss understanding. "The pack knows Thea and I are to be mates so unless you went around telling everyone behind my back just to get want you want. Which this is this is exactly what you wanted isn't it?" He accused his headache now getting worse.

((Hi! I'm back! So sorry for my absence, my dad had surgery, I had finals!))

"This is the exact opposite! I wanted Thea to be informed, I wanted her in on this! I wanted this to work out for all of us and it's the exact opposite of what is happening here! Thea will be absolutely destroyed she-"

"I came to say congratulations."

Thea appeared at the door, silently, causing Sabella to wheel around, her fur shrug slipping down around her narrow shoulders.

"Thea- this isn't what it looks like, sounds like- it's not what you think, nothing-"

"I only came to give my congratulations, you don't have to explain yourselves to me. I was just a pawn for you sabella, you and your brother and I realize that now."

"Thea, no-"

"Yes, Sabella! Yes, that is how it's always been. You made it clear now, especially now." Thea then looked at Donahue, her doe eyes round and sad,"Congratulations."

(It's fine, I had sugery too and tomorrow I'm getting my stitches removed.)

Donahue was getting mad now, his head throbbing as he glared at Sabella but was surprised when he  saw the fur was all she was wearing and it only irritated him more. What was she thinking coming to him practically naked? Was she trying to make the rumors worse?! "Thea don't say that. You know I had nothing to do with this. You know I love you." He said not liking the way she looked at him, this wasn't his fault! "This is just a misunderstanding, I wanted nothing to do with Sabella's plan!" He said moving toward her reaching out to her, regret confusion and anger towards Sabella in his eyes.

"And yet, here we are. I should've know better than to trust the two of you. I saw you talking last night, by the fire, I saw her go after you. You talked to her like she was an equal not just a plaything or whatever it is I am to you!" Thea became more and more heated the more she spoke and the more that she looked at the two of them standing there together.

"I'm better off without you! Both of you! You deserve each other!" The younger shewolf spat and pushed Donahue away, her eyes alight with anguish and absolute anger,"all you care about is yourselves and you don't care who gets in the way especially when it's only someone like me! I've known it all along and I still chose to stay with you people, and you're all the same! I hate you! Both of you! And you'll live this life together and rot in hell in the next, just as you should!"

The was fuming, practically hissing as she pushed Donahue again, hard and shot a knife life glare at Sabella before turning on her heel and storming from the den. She didn't cry and she didn't want to. She felt as though she had finally shook something from her shoulders as if she had less weight to carry there.

Sabella gaped as Thea left, she'd never seen her more angry, more powerful than just her meek self and although she almost felt proud of the shewolf for standing up for herself there was the overwhelming sense of dread that she had truly lost Thea forever and that Donahue had as well.

Donahue was in shock he was not expecting her outburst to be so violent so finishing. Every word she said like a slap in the face and with every time she pushed him away it felt like a canon ball ripping through his heart. "Thea wait! You don't understand!" His voice was shaking as he watched her go. "Thea...." He whispered sinking to the ground but he knew she was already gone. Why?! Why must the fates hate him so?! After all he had done for her how could she be so cruel believing false rumors and not him. Leaving him here like a pile of rotting trash without even looking back. "You," Donahue said angrily to Sabella not looking back at her. "This is your fault you fix this." He said suddenly jumping up and turning on her, only to freeze as soon as he saw her expression. Thea hadn't just left him, but Sabella too, and she couldn't fix this any better than he could. "I...I'm sorry." He hung his head, fighting back his emotions, he didn't want Sabella seeing the ruins that Thea left his heart in.

"It was never ever supposed to be like this."
Sabella sat weakly on the edge of Donahue's bed, her head hanging and mouth agape as she desperately attempted to make sense of things. How could she possibly fix this? Could she? She had been so incredibly angry and with a finality that shook her to her bones.
She was completely alone in this now, her father was a slimy cheat, her mother weak and crumbling, Valac cared little about their situation and now Donahue, perhaps her only confidant hated her as well.
Then he apologized.
She wasn't sure what for, the fault was completely her own, but none the less it comforted her. She turned her chin up to look at him, he was so sturdy so strong, and now he forgave, it pulled at her heart strings and it only made her feel guiltier she had put such feelings, a silly crush, away for so long as to not upset Thea but now it didn't seem silly it seemed wrong and as if she were backstabbing Thea all over again.
"Perhaps I should just go. Valac will learn and he'll want to lead eventually.... eventually," she sighed deeply," Thea may return to you once I've gone. The pack won't starve without me. They have you. I'm one less mouth to feed. Perhaps it's for the best."
She went to stand but her knees felt weak, it had never been so scary thinking about going and it had never been so lonely.

For a while Donahue said nothing not even looking at her till he saw her tremble as she tried to stand. He had never seen her so weak, no...so vulnerable, this was a side of Sabella he had never seen before. Since he first met her the only emotions he thought she had was sarcastic anger and normal anger, now he didn't know what to think. Looking back at her for a moment his eyes betrayed him, no longer the bright emerald they once were now a sad and darkened with hopelessness. "You and I both know that's a crock of shit." He said now facing her stiffening his jaw and hiding his emotions from her once more. "You are one of the few who actually helps this pack with hunts. You leave and sure no starves right away, but they will soon enough. Ash has a hard enough time trying to keep the packs moral up just enough so that they actually want to keep living. Valac is worthless so are most of your half siblings, only good for making more mouths to feed." More gentle than normal he grabbed her arms and helped her stand. "Your pack needs you, your family, your mother all need you. You try leaving this mess and I just might have to drag your skinny ass back here to help me." He said jokingly trying to lighten the mood just long even so that when they go back out to the pack they will have some composure.

The she wolf cast her eyes away from Donahue, she was uncertain how to deal with this kind of male attention, Thea was more versed in this sort thing, not her. He was right in more ways than one but she wouldn't let him have that.
"I have nothing to keep me here, my family is hardly a family. It's bastards and liars and everything in between and I don't even have Thea now. It's not like a have a mate, it's not like I have pups like some of the other she wolves my age. I have nothing but a skill set that isn't even noticed because I'm supposed to have those things, pups and a mate and--"
Sabella growled inwardly at herself gripping her furs tighter around her and pulling herself together before she got too ahead of herself.
"I should be going before the pack assumes anything more."

Donahue felt bad as she spoke of not having a mate, but her words reminded him of his own lack of a mate, without Thea he had nothing. Not just nothing tying him to this pack, but literally nothing. No family, no belongings, not even any real friends. He didn't let Sabella know any of this though instead he simply nodded. "Not like things could get much worse around here." He muttered sitting down and running a dirty hand through his dark hair.

Sabella stood, steadier this time, and glanced down at him in his chair. She wondered how he had been when he was young, perhaps what he'd left behind. She knew what he had hoped to gain but that didn't look very promising now after what had happened.
She gnawed on the inside of her cheek for a short moment, kneading her fingers in the clumped hair of her furry coverings and all the while watched him. Trying her hardest to muster a smile she awkwardly fidgeted her lanky limbs and attempted to carry herself a little taller.
"The only thing I think could perhaps make it worse is if you didn't bathe," she nodded towards the door,"come with me, I promise not to look."
She winked clumsily and turned to leave, cheeks flushed with a horrible splotchy red.

(After all these years of knowing you I always thought Valjean was like your last name or a nickname or something and that the numbers were just random, I know now how wrong I was)

Don gave a small half hearted chuckle at her insult but it was cut short by her offer. "Uhh... I'm sorry but perhaps now is not the best time for something like that. With all that happened today perhaps I will take you up on that offer some other time." He said thinking of Thea and how strung out his emotions were right now he couldn't think of even bathing alone right now.

((OH MY GOD! No dude that is totally unoriginal lol))

The splotchy red faded quickly at the rejection of her offer. She had to remind herself that things like that didn't happen to her and that now, more than ever it wouldn't. Sabella simply nodded silently and with that left the den.

((Time skip where ever? Do something with amber and apollo?))
