Fantasy Descendants of the Curse

"Good afternoon dearest." She melted back into him at the feeling of his kiss on her neck. "What is this all about? You haven't held me like this in forever. " She chuckled. Running her slender fingers around his strong arms ever so delicately. "I take it you're in a good mood today? Or in need of a little tender love." She smiled up at him.

(You're quite good at putting me in difficult situations, I see xD )

Zoe stammers, "O-Ok..." She shifts her weight from one side to the other. "I don't have anybody with me, though," she says softly. As she says so, she thinks of Emily. "What should I carry..?"

"These." Connor replied, dumping a majority of his bags onto her for carrying. Stretching his back, and a couple cracks from it later, he groans in relief and resumes his journey down the road, path, trail thing. "What a relief." he said, glad there wasn't as much weight on his shoulders as a moment ago. "How much further to the town by the way? I only just got here and don't know my way around to good."

Zoe picks up the bags with a little bit of difficulty and a high pitched grunt. "Not very much longer," she says, stumbling on her first step, then begins to walk smoothly, if not slowly. "If you don't mind me asking, what brings you here?"

"Business mostly." he said, careful of his next couple of words. "I'm going to be a teacher in town. Some general advanced stuff. Biology, chemistry, physiology, psychology, things like that." He wasn't exactly lying. One had to know where to aim when hunting, and what certain chemicals did to the body. Along side what to and to not eat when on those particularly long hunts. Psychology was a minor thing, reserved more for the smarter prey then what most wolves devolved into. "Plus I heard there was some good game up here. Good trophies."

Valac nodded, and slowly took his seat beside his mother letting Sabella take the other side of Vivian. "So what happenens now...?" He asked quitely looking to his mother.

"I was in a great mood, but now some tenderness would be appreciated for this work worn wolf." He smiled gently turning her around in his arms and leaning his forehead against her's. "How are you still so kind to me?" He asked her wanting to know why she stayed, when for the last 13 years it was rare she got a "you look nice" Let alone and embrace. Yet Vivian and their pups, the ones he's spent the last 13 years taking care of and paying attention to hated him.

"You two are old enough to start making your own decisions now... For yourself and for the pack. Your father obviously has different plans in mind."

Vivian grumbled quietly and then sighed taking Valac's hand in hers and wrapping her arm around Sabella's shoulders.

"I'm unhealthy. The whole pack knows it. Years of torture in my youth, the loss of a pup, the mutilations that occurred on the last blood moon, fight after fight... I've taken quite a beating."

The alpha female chuckled softly, bitterly.

"I won't be around much longer and I feel as though your father eagerly awaits my passing, he doesn't say so, but I know he does. I complicate his relationship with Artemis."

Her weary smile wavered and her chin quivered slightly and then stopped.

"You'll have no true ties here once I've gone. You are free to go, it'd be better to go now. The world is only as wide as you make it and there is so much more than this pack, than a mate, than being alpha, than being a mother or father... There is so much more and I want for my children everything I lacked. I want to give you the whole wide world."

"Because you are a wonderful man Ash and father of my children. Why else?" She cooed, reaching up to stroke his rugged cheeks. "You may not hold me on a pedestal like you do Vivian, but I know you still care. I would not still be in the pack otherwise." She hugged him close to her. "And any time we spent together in all these years has been fantastic, wouldn't you agree?"

Tears welled up in his mother's eyes and the thought that his father would go straight to Artemis made him angry, and he shook his head. "I don't want the world, I want my family, like how it used to be." He muttered referring to before was so scarce they were practically eating themselves. For him that food shortage marked the end of his family's unity and the slow increase of violence and fighting.

"Valac..." Sabella said quietly as she looked to her brother.

"Do you realize what it would mean if we were to leave? You wouldn't have to be alpha at all. We could start our own lives in a new pack somewhere, work my way up! Hell I would mate into the pack if I had to just to get somewhere. We could leave this shit show behind and find a new, better one to integrate ourselves into!"

The young shewolf began excitedly.

"Vivian you can come too, we can be just us three. You could find someone who loves you-"

"Sabella... Sweet Sabella... And Valac my strong boy... You both are so kind and careful with your hearts. Mine is weak and I have no mind to leave this pack of mine. It's my duty to stay here. Yours is to make a life for yourselves."

Ash nodded knowingly, as he leaned in to kiss her then stopped."Have you heard from Apollo lately?" He asked as he hadn't heard from his sister since she and Apollo left this pack and that was many years ago. Knowing Apollo's temper and Amber's distaste for him along with her affair with Fredric he was worried his sister was even alive anymore.

Apollo rested lazily in the sun, his copper pelt bright and gave off an almost golden hue under the beaming light. Their home far to the south was warm and temperate and this summer the heat had been sweltering. Apollo yawned widely and looked out over his pack from where he sat on the alcove of sun warmed rocks.

Omega's sparred in one corner and mother's played with their in another, many mates lapped and nuzzled at one another while others tore into a fresh kill. His pack thrived unlike the troubled packs in the north. Apollo was proud of his work that he'd done here. Proud of the changes he made. He had won this pack through battle and bloodshed and he had no intention of letting it go anytime soon.

He nuzzled Amber's ear and then took the tip of it gingerly between his teeth and tugged lightly before shifting into his human form. His facial hair had grown out, as had his hair atop his head, revealing a curly mop of ginger hair.

Valac frowned at his sister. Knowing it would be easy for her to get into a pack, all she would have to do is let a wolf claim her, and then he would be left alone, or an omega. Here he wasn't an omega, he wasn't greatly respected either, but at least he wasn't on the bottom of the food chain. And technically he was next in line. He didn't want to leave the chance at an easier life, just so he can try to survive with his sister. And he knew even though she was nice now, as soon as they were out there they would start fighting again.

"I have not heard from him in quite some time now." Her bottom lip protruded in an hint of annoyance from bringing up her brother. "I only know the pack is doing well and before you ask. I am not sure of how your sister is fairing. Apollo does not like bringing up such matters in fear of getting on your bad side again."

Amber was basking in the sun enjoying its warmth, a small smile crossed her lips as she felt his teeth on her ear. "Can I help you?" She asked softly stretching as she too shifted into human form and rolled over onto her back so she was looking up at him, her hand coming up and gently stroking his beard with a chuckle. She liked his hair and beard, it made him seem more humble, but the pack members knew, looks could be deceiving. Though much nicer to her now, he still had his same temper and blood lust when it came to enemy packs.

As for her she had grown into her mother's looks and it gave her some trouble. When defending her territory male wolves wouldn't take her seriously and some had even tried claiming her like Apollo so many years ago. It was for this she was glad for the scar that cut along the arch of her right brow. She had gotten it from some hunters a few years ago, and if they had elders it would have been healed right away. But Apollo's pack had no elders, so they relied on themselves to heal. Which wouldn't be a big deal if they weren't currently in a feud with a neighboring pack. Which was caused by the murder of Amber's first litter of pups with Apollo.

Apollo had been out hunting with many other pack members when they were attacked. They had a plan of attack and distracted the adults forcefully separating the young from their mothers, and forcing the mothers to watch as their pups were trampled and devoured. Amber had tried tofoghy back but they were terrifyingly strong. The she wolves didn't have a chance.

Being the worry wart he was when it came to Fae, Marius sat at the table tapping his foot impatiently. He had scrubbed the entire living room and entryway clean. And the kitchen as well, even though he was making dinner for her and Ben at the moment. His fingertips drumming nervously against the silvery surface of his flask. He'd emptied the rest of it already. Hoping the buzz would take the edge off until he could breath a sigh of relief again.

He would always worry about her, no matter what. After losing the right to even see or speak to his own children he couldn't lose another. She wasn't his by blood but he loved her entirely none the less.

Apollo smiled and combed her beautiful ashen blonde hair out of her face before leaning down to kiss her forehead.

"You look even more beautiful in the sun, little dove."

He had never been so glad to be alive as he was right now. He was pleased with his pack, his mate, his pups. Only seven years old, they were still young, his little boys, Romulus and Remus. Both had their father's striking red hair and their mother's pretty features. Now the two pups were tumbling around down below the alcove with a few of their friends, giggling as they chased eachother and then wrestled the other violently to the ground.

He watched them carefully, pups were always made to stay in sight of the pack at all times since the massacre that had taken place just a few years after they had arrived here. The night haunted him and made his heart ache. He would never admit his feelings to the other pack members but many a time had he woken up in a cold sweat with only Amber there to comfort him.

"How beautiful you are."

Fae didn't shiver against the cool of the night, not like she had before. Her fingertips were steady as they combed though the branches above her. The forest smelled so richly of rain and mud and... Meat and blood. What a strange smell... Overpowering as it tickled her nostrils and enchanted her.

"I'll love you both no matter your decision."

Vivian kissed them both on the forehead and then stood.

"Stay if you will. I'll be glad for the company until I'm gone."

She smiled softly and with that Vibian left, leaving the two siblings alone.

"I'll be going as well, Valac. Make up your mind sooner rather than later."

Sabella swiped a hand beneath her nose and eyes removing all traces of any sort of remorse before trekking out of the room.

"Thea was looking for you before. She was quite upset over what father had said to me. Something about taking my friend as another mate. I'm not sure how serious Ash was,you know she's only had eyes for you though."

Theodosia was Sabella's only very good friend. She wasn't born in this pack, she had come with her father and brother six years ago when things had been good, really good. They must be regretting their decision now.

"Marius?" Ben coughed weakly wondering where he was. He felt like crap, and looked just as bad. Sluggishly he got up to get some tea, his throat was killing him and with how much mucus was in his throat he felt like he was drowning. Carefully he crawled down the stairs and looked for Marius. "Marius..." He wheezed feeling light headed.

"Benjiman? You look terrible..." He quickly rushed to his side to help the poor man walk easier. "What are you doing up? Do you need something?" He brushed a mess of hair out of his face so he could feel his forehead. Definitely warm, but nothing to really worry about yet. "I'll sneak into town if you need medicine. I'd send Fae for it but she's gone at the moment."

Amber chuckled closing her eyes as he kissed her forehead. "You've said that twice." she smiled wrapping her arms around him pulling him closer and pressing her lips to his. Then with a grin she sat up and rolled Apollo onto his back so she was on top her long hair acting as a canopy as she leaned over him. "Papa! You're loosing! Get her! Don't let 'er win!" Their little pups explained as he looked up at them, in their young eyes the boys' parents were wrestling, and to them Apollo was on the bottom loosing.

"I don't think I have the strength to defeat our alpha she wolf! She's overpowered me!"

Apollo grinned wolfishly as he tugged his mate on top of him and pulled her closer.

"Whatever shall I do?"

He growled and nipped at her lip before groaning as the weight of a small pup landed directly on his groin.

"Oh for fu-"

"Get off him mama!"

Growled Romulus pawing at his mother's hair.
