Fantasy Descendants of the Curse

Vivian grapes her daughter's forearm and hauled her into the den back into her room where she'd left her son. She sat Sabella roughly on the side of the straw stuffed bed and grabbed her wrists tightly, so tightly her knuckles went white.

"Are you trying to get yourself mauled you stupid girl?"

She shook her daughter.

"Speak to me! Surely you can't be mute now!"

"Do you hear the way he talks about us?! Talks to you, to me, Valac!? You surely can't be happy here Vivian! Why don't you go-"

She was stopped by a slap to her cheek.

"You won't speak like that anymore! Not unless you want trouble for your brother and I as well."

Vivian's voice cracked, anger and pain making her eyes blur with hot tears as well. Sabella's lip quivered and then the two she wolves were hugging each other tightly. Just as suddenly as they had been screaming at eachother they were crumpled in eachother's arms.

The wind and rain whistled through the trees as Gaston walked briskly down the worn path through the densely packed woods. Ferns and fallen branches brushed his ankles as they snagged at the leg of his trousers but he forged onward. The coven house wasn't far and he needed to get his son there before he was any sicker.

Mary sighed not wanting to have to explain all this right now especially with Gaston gone now. "Because that's how God made you sweet heart." She muttered getting up the large amount of her son's power in her was taking its toll on her. She got up and walked away each foot fall burnt a shoe print into the floor boards and you could hear the humidity in the air sizzling as she walked through it. "I'll go prepare your bath." She said walking up the stairs to the bathing room.

"Papa I'm hooome!" Willow chimed as she skipped happily up to her father. A slight frown creased her face though when she saw his expression. Sour and gruff as can be. "What's the matter dear father? You look awfully upset...did something happen in the pack?" She tilted her head with curious concern. Her voice as sweet as honey as she approached him.

"God? Really?" He scoffed loudly and frowned at her. "There is no way in Hell that is the answer, unless he made me as a cruel joke..." He propped his chin up on his arms. His cheeks rosy red from resting on the table. "I'm not a toddler anymore mother....I know better than that. There has to be a real reason I'm like this...why I'm so different....you know. The old legends in those books at grandma and grandpa's call vampires the spawn of Satan...unholy demons sent straight from the pits of Hell as a terrible punishment for something..."

Ash frowned hearing the women cry. Great. Now he was the enemy. He sighed then dismissed the rest of the pack just as he hear Willow's voice. At least someone was happy to see him. "No it's nothing, I'd just wait a little while before you go in the den." He sighed and gave her a weary smile. "Where's your mother?" He asked as he looked around.

Ezekiel had gone home but he knew with his anger he was still too mad not to break out into a fight with someone and as he heard crying he knew he didn't want to be there anymore so he headed out into the darkness. Perhaps he would sniff out that strange girl's house. His curiousity was killing him and he needed a good distraction.

Valac watched his sister and mother crying hating his father for making them feel like this. So carefully he went over gently rubbing each of their backs in a sort of distant hug as he wasn't very good at emotional things. "At least we have eachother...?" He said attempting to comfort them but feeling it was no use he stepped away and headed off to give them some time.

Mary stopped her climb up the stairs and turned around. "You know your aunt Felicity, well before she died she cursed your father and any of his future sons for not saving her. That's why you and Jacques are like how you are." She said to drained to explain anything else.

"Come her you stupid mutt."

Sabella growled and grabbed her brother, tugging him to her chest and hugging him tightly. For such a string bean the shewolf had some serious guns.

"All we need is eachother isn't it?"

Vivian grinned and wrapped her arms tightly around her pups, kissing them both on the top of their heads.

"We play by our own rules, us three."

Zoe ran, and ran. She reached the town quickly, and went up to the first house she saw. She ignores conflicting thougts. What was wrong? Was she going to be ok? As the younger sister, only 9, she was determined to be optimistic. She didn't know what the word meant. She knocked on the door hurriedly and stood at the door, gasping for breath and waiting for someone to answer the door.

"Are you sure? I know you only get such a frown when you get in an argument." She smiled softly as she playfully traced the down turned corners of his mouth. "You're gonna be more wrinkled than the elders at this rate." She teased. Hoping to lift his mood if possible. "I don't know where mama is. I just got back to the dens. Have you tried where the pack usually meets?"

"I still don't believe you....that doesn't sound right.." He huffed and turned his head back to his sister. "If I was cursed then wouldn't you be too? We shared the same womb so dontcha think it would have effected you too? I remember being told aunt Felicity wasn't one to hold back on curses. She would have cursed all of us wouldn't she?" Sometimes he was too curious for his own good. But many quiet nights of laying away gave a lot of time to think about such things.

Elizabeth nodded confused by what her mother said she looked to Jamison about to ask a question when there was a weak knocking on the door. "Huh?" She asked sitting up. "I've got it!" Mary said a little more lively than before. She wasn't going to deny it, she hoped it was her husband returned, but then again why would he knock on his own door. "Hello?" She asked opening the door, and paused surprised to see such a little girl. "Uh- can I help you child?" She said gently and concerned.

Valac nodded with a small smile at being included, and he tried to fight back his own tears. "I'm sorry I've said mean things to you in the past." He said quitely to his mother and sister. "I didn't mean any of it."

Zoe bounced on her heels impatiently until the door opened. "Please," she begged the woman who'd opened it. "My sister is sick. Do you know where a doctor, or a healer, or someone who can help might be?"

"So here?" Ash said raising a brow at his daughter knowing this clearance and the den hall where Vivian and his daughter were, was were the pack usually met. "I think you need to get your tracking skills tested." He said at a half attempt at a joke. Then headed off to look for her.

"You never know! Mama is real clever." She grinned. Giving her father a slight pity laugh for his attempted joke. I'm gonna head down into the dens. I'm real tired from my daily exploration." She popped up on her toes to give him a light peck on the cheek before bounding off inside. "Goodnight Papa!"

Artemis was by the pack's food store. Keeping track of what was brought in for the day and how much they had. So far they were more than well off on cattle after the ones Ash had gotten, not much for wild game, but at last some had gotten a few morsels today. A few rabbits and pheasants. One even brought in a small doe. She could not help but smile at the improvement in their hunting skills. This year looks like it would finally be the one of their comeback.

"We mean every word we say to eachother. Honesty makes us stronger, loyalty makes us love harder. We are loyal to eachother more than anyone has ever been to me. We are family. A little one. But nonetheless great."

Vivian smiled and wiped Sabella's cheek with the back of her hand and then her own eyes. Looking at her two pups, they were so grown up now and both of them looked remarkably like their parents. Sabella a much thinner carbon copy of Ash while Valac's fine features were much like Vivian's only more masculine.

"Come sit and we'll talk about the future of our little family if you'd like."

Vivian ruffled their hair and then sat on the bed, itching at the collar of her loose blouse.

"The local doctor is out of town, and apparently the only good healers are in the coven." She said pointing with distaste at the large mansion a little ways away in the village. "Wish I could help you darling, but if I can't even help my own son then I doubt I could help your sister." She said disgruntled about to close the door. She was usually never like this but along with being in a bad mood she didn't believe the girl. Too many robbers and thieves set things up like this, for her to believe this girl without any prof.

The girl bites her lip at the woman's clear insistence that she wasn't going to help her any more. "Thank you," she says, deciding not to push her. She turns heel and runs towards the coven. What was about the coven that the woman dislikes so much..?

"Good night." Ash replied looking around once more for Artemis but not seeing her he decided to look in the den going around to a different entrance he walked in immediately catching Artemis's scent, so he followed it almost surprised to see her in the storage room. Quietly he walked up behind her slowly wrapping his arms around her waist and gently kissing the back of her neck. "Afternoon..." Her coed holding her close wanting to feel at least a wee bit appreciated by at least one of his mates.

By all the magics, why was the town so far away? It felt like he had been trudging up that road for hours now, and made very little distance towards his destination. He was getting old, this was proof of that fact. He'd have been there by now if he was a little bit younger, and settling into a room to boot. Guess that's why he let a vampire turn him, so when he died he could still teach, hunt down things that needed hunting, and have the strength to do those two at the same time. He had half a mind to just go vampire right then and there, but decided better of it and continued waddling his way down the road.

Zoe nearly runs into an old(ER) man, but dodges out of the way just in time. "I'm sorry, sir!" she exclaims, having stopped to apologize.

"I doubt it." he muttered softly into his beard. But he saw an opportunity, and he'd be damned he'd let it slip by. "If you are really sorry, help an old man carry his things." And if she was gullible, or just feels guilty easily, then she'd help him out. If not, she was a brat and he needed find her parents and slap them. "I hope you got friends, I got more things that need to be carried."
