Fantasy Cursed Island

"Well," Jalin clapped as the mouse left, "Let's load our supplies." There was nothing wrong with keeping everything in bags of holding, but with the group size it would be better to have all important resources available for use without having to wait in line to stick your hand in the bag.

Roy and Emilia nodded before heading around to the back to begin unloading whatever non-personal items they were carrying. They also both used their respective magic sense to check for anything suspicious.

Jalin checked over the animals, trusting Katsuo to be able to load other things from their bag of holding with the others' help. Roy and Emilia had more experience with objects, but lifeforms were a necromancer's specialty.

"I think that's everything," Siege called after things were loaded and checked.

"Load up or walk!", Turac called as he got into the driver's seat, patting the passenger seat so that if anyone wanted to sit with him up there, they could.

Nidia happily climbed up next to Turac, plopping into the seat next to him. Roy, Emilia, and Katsuo climbed into the back, one at a time.

Siege and Jalin took the backseat, coincidentally ending up sitting next to each other as Turac flicked the reins to set the horse moving. "Alright, who's got a map?", Turac called, "Pass it up to Nidia!"

"Ah." Roy dug out the map before passing it up to Nidia. Nidia took it and unfolded it, looking to find where they were.

"Thank you, Roy!" Turac smiled and leaned over to take a look. He wasn't very good with maps, but he figured landmarks would be present, they were just exiting the north side of Elyon's capital. Finding a route to Woodvale as they drove would be less time consuming once they got to a trade route.

Sure enough, there was a route that led from Elyon Capital to Woodvale’s capital of Sylvas, with several smaller roads branching off from that road.

And so the journey was underway. Jalin wasn't as comfortable on the wagon as he was on the boat. The boat was its own landscape, the wagon was a blip that made him blind entirely outside of it, so he ended up clinging to Siege's arm while the wagon rumbled along.

Sinach for some reason found that something worth bringing Emilia's attention to, pointing towards them.

Emilia had been watching the scenery go by, glancing at Sinach as he got her attention before looking over at the two. "Are you two alright?"

Roy glanced up from his book.

Jalin looked up at Nidia, "i cannot feel the ground around me,' he didn't sound too happy about it. Siege groaned at that.

"Ah. I suppose that makes sense. It is rather nice to see Siege not threatening someone for touching her though. Begrudging as it may be."

"If I throw him, everyone's gonna be pissed," Siege grumbled. Jalin's grip on her arm loosened a bit on hearing that.

"Hey, arms and legs inside the ride at all times!", Turac called back, parroting something their mom used to say when she and Asta would take the kids on flying trips from Asta's back.

Roy gave a nod. “There’s the answer I expected.” He looked to his book again.

Emilia smiled. “Well, I say that’s progress anyway.”

"Why don't you work on your mana control, if I'm bothering you?", Jalin asked.

"Shut up, Jalin."

As the day turned to night, the party had to set up camp for the night. Turac took the opportunity to turn his ring, once they were out of sight, and put his weapons away into his treasure stomach. He didn't really need them, they were just to blend in.

Still remembering the last time they camped, Roy and Emilia made a patrol of the perimeter around their camp once it was set. Roy searched for anything that may have been a threat while Emilia set up small threads along the ground and in the trees. If anything touched them, it would pull and she’d notice.

Siege had been messing with mana all day, so she was pretty wiped when she finally sat down around the campfire.

Jalin listened around the forest as the others moved around, helping to set up camp but keeping his ears to the woods as Turac curled around the front of the camp, so anyone trying to get to the camp would have to either sneak past the tents or clambor over a dragon turtle.

Nidia was looking at the map as she sat by the fire. She spoke up when Roy and Emilia returned. "I think we've seen the last of the open plains. We'll probably cross the border tomorrow. I wonder if it'll be noticeable."

"The country is named Woodvale," Turac mused, "i would think it would covered in woodland."

"That's ridiculous," Siege rolled her eyes, "Mom and dad live in Wulfbane, you see any monkshood growing around there?"

Nidia shrugged. "The map shows trees everywhere for the region. If any of us could fly, we'd be able to check for ourselves, once the sun was up."

Jalin thought about that, "Can anyone cast Polymorph?", that was a spell that would be helpful."

"Probably not," Sinach grumbled from Emilia's shoulders.

Roy and Emilia shook their heads. Nidia shrugged. "Oh well. At least it's a bit cooler in the forest."

"If you would like cool," Turac offered, "I can-"

"No!", Siege, Sinach, and Jalin said in unision.
