Fantasy Cursed Island

"Hmm," Jerry nodded, that seemed like it would work with what she had in mind. She frowned as she watched Erina get a bit closer, but Asta was definitely massive enough that to get certain measurements she'd have to get close in order to be able to spread her arms far enough. Still, she wasn't sure how she felt about Erina getting that close to Asta. Jerry wasn't used to being in a relationship and displays of affection, though, so she'd wait and ask Asta later if he got the same vibe she did.

"I don't think you need to worry about for when he turns back," Jerry shook her head, "Anything that can't be worn on him gets absorbed into him."

Erina nodded. "I figured you had some plan for that." Once she had all her measurements, Erina walked back to her loom. "Alright, that will do. Any preferences for the outfit?" She looked to Asta, and Asta looked to Jerry.

"Um," Jerry glanced at Asta, "There doesn't need to be a whole lot to it. Snug enough not to make any problems for him in a fight... easy to take off." She thought for a moment, "You liked blue when I painted your wings, right?"

Asta nodded. "Ah, yes, I did."

Erina nodded. "Noted. You'll be wanting pants as well then?"

"Ah... Actually, this towel has been rather comfortable and not as restricting as I expected. Something like it, perhaps?"

"I can do that."

"Maybe you could add some leatherworking and make it an armored kilt?", Jerry offered. If she was honest Asta in a skirt just sounded wrong in her head, but it might be done.

Erina nodded. "That's what I was thinking. I wouldn't put him in the same kind of skirt you or I would wear, but I can make something to fit him."

“I don’t think so, no. If you’re really looking for something to do, I wouldn’t turn down a few mice, but you don’t have to.”

Jerry frowned, "I don't know how to catch mice," she could train rats, but she got there by gaining the rat's trust over time, or killing the mom and taking the babies at a certain age. She looked at Asta, "I promised to teach you how to use my sword, right?"

Jerry nodded and walked away from Erina's loom to where Joanne and Emfa killed time sparring, explaining the dials on the sword hilt. "There are six rings on the pommel," she explained, "Three on each side. They determine the blade length, width, thickness, taper, fuller, and-" She started explaining sword anatomy, which was way more complicated than one would think for a sharp object that was likely created when one man looked at another and thought 'I'd like to stab him and cut off his head with the same tool.' "And then there's this clip up at the guard, this is the switch to open and close the blade." Jerry's settings for the sword were geared towards making something she could use as a rapier.

"You're a whole lot bigger than me, so you might like something bigger." She closed the sword hilt and handed it to Asta, making sure the part the blade came out of was facing away from him. "Give it a try."

Asta nodded as Jerry explained everything. The longer she spoke though, the more realized that he was relatively simple man. Or at the very least, this specific thing was very complicated to him. He didn’t say anything about it though as he took the hilt in his hand. He’d forgotten which dial did what, but he knew how to open it, so he started with that.

The blade that came out was long, but thin and flexible. "That's a rapier," Jerry explained, "It's the same kind of sword Emil uses." She realized she didn't really know how to help Asta find a sword more suited to his massive stature, a weapon of finess such a massive body was not, and briefly jogged over to get Joanne involved, and briefly explaining the hilt to the paladin.

"Asta, take this," Joanne held up her longsword for Asta to hold, trading it for the magic hilt. "Is it too heavy for you?" Joanne's sword was much heavier than Jerry's, mostly but not being made of whatever Jerry's was, and much larger.

Asta traded swords and looked at the longsword now in his hand. "Hm...no. It does have some weight, but it doesn't seem cumbersome."

"Good," Joanne turned the rings on the sword to expand it to similar size, "Attack me, I must see your pattern." Jerry took several steps back, not wanting to be between those two and a pair of longswords for any reason.

Asta looked at Joanne and nodded. He'd seen them fighting before, so he at least knew what a sword swing should look like. With that in mind, he advanced, trying to replicated it as best he could.

Inexperience wasn't working in Asta's favor, at least not with Joanne's sword. She blocked it easily and sent him spinning. "You have strength," she commented, "But you apply it bluntly. I have not the time to teach you a more skilled method of combat, so instead we shall apply the rule of a larger weapon being better." She turned the rings on the sword until it created a massive greatsword as long as she was tall, closed the blade, and offered it to Asta. "You may find this configuration to be more friendly towards your bulk."

Asta traded swords yet again, looking at the larger blade. “This...is more appealing, yes.”

"Yes, that manner of oversized sword is a manner of claymore," Joanne nodded, "Make another attempt.'

Asta nodded and prepared himself as he looked at Joanne once more. She hadn’t any trouble with his last attack, so that eased some of his concerns about harming on accident. More confident now, he stepped forward and swung again.

"Good," Once more, Joanne didn't have much trouble blocking and deflecting, but she did need to use two hands. "The blade is massive enough that it does matter if you use it as a blunt object." As big as the sword was, and as big as the Asta behind it, he only had to land a hit to do damage to someone not as heavily protected as a fully armored Joanne with an armor charm, whether he cut or not. "Again."

Asta nodded and swung again from a different angle, getting used to the weapon's weight and the feel of swinging it about.

"Good," tink, "You learn-" tink "Quickly." Joanne offered encouragement and pointers as Asta swung, only defending, getting Asta used to using a weapon first. Offense would come later.

"Are you two going to be okay for a while?", Jerry asked.

"We-", tink, "-will be-", tink, "-fine." Joanne nodded.

Jerry got up, "I'll leave you two to it, then." She headed back past Adran's workplace, where the elf was coming back from the pool with a soggy Beri, the leopard's fur back to its normal pattern again. "How many times is Beri going to change color this week?'

"We enchanted his ring, he's fine," Adran shook his head as the leopard shook himself dry-ish.
