Fantasy Cursed Island

Lyak frowned as the biggest of the three slithered right up to her, the thing was more than long enough to rise up to eye level with the three foot tall goblin, and flick its tongue at her face. She really didn't like that one.

Erina decided she should see Adran sooner rather than later. Better to get this taken care of before she lost control of them. But she figured Lyak wouldn’t want to keep watch on the hydras on her own. “Alright then. Hydras, come, follow me.” She turned and started heading towards Adran, glancing back to make sure they obeyed.

The hydras seemed to like Erina, at least, following her around whether she'd successfully chained them or not. Adran had been absorbed in what he was doing until his wood sense told him there were new life creatures in the grove very close to him and he looked around to see the hydras slithering about Erina's many legs. "How did you do that?"

Adran glanced at the hydras again, "How did you get them. I know how you're controlling them." He was the one that gave her the chains.

“Ah, Jerry found eggs in the hydra’s nest and gave them to me. I’ve simply been looking after them. And I’m actually here about controlling them. They do seem fond of me, but I want to be sure I can call them off if necessary. But there’s a lot of heads here, so I’d like to know if there’s a way to get better at using the chain.”

Adran frowned, "I already told you how to get better. Practice. Something more intelligent, a lot off less intelligent things, you'll get better, it's about exerting your will onto them."

Adran shrugged, "They've got five minds constantly fighting and they're young enough to get used to a sixth giving orders." She might confuse them later when the commands them to act without exerting her will and there's no sixth mind rising up, but in the short term, they seemed to have imprinted on Erina. "I don't think they know enough to care."

"Father- Whoa!" The hydras looked confused at Erina for a second before they started climbing and slithering all over Adran. "Hey, wrong kind of trouser snake, get out of there!" He started pulling the snakes off of him and out of his clothes, they liked the warmth. "Erina!"

Erina giggled as she just watched. “Aw, I think they like you. I’ll have to ask Nalla later what gender they are, because I really can’t tell.”

"They're snakes, I don't think gender matters," Adran finally got the hydras off of him, "Erina why are we adopting snakes?"

“It does for names.” Erina paused at Adran’s question. “Hm...” She shrugged. “Jerry gave me the eggs and I was compelled to see them hatched. Besides, as they get older, they’ll be able to help us in a number of ways, I’m sure.”

Adran sighed as the hydras coiled up on the ground between the two, flicking out tongues and waving their tails like puppies. "More mouths to feed, yay..."

"I made sure to feed them once already. I got Nyah to summon some mice. I may start setting up webs whenever we stop to see what I can catch for them."

Well that took some burden off of Adran's shoulders. "That's good, at least," he nodded, "As long as you know what you're doing, I'm cool with it." Then he had a thought, "Keep them away from Beri, he's not too fond of water snakes."

"Oh. That's unfortunate, but I'll do what I can. I'd say I hope they can get along, but I've seen how stubborn Beri can be."

"He's usually pretty reasonable, just not with children," Adran shook his head, "Speaking of, any progress, Niudisa?"

"Yeah, I should be done soon." The fairy was currently etching the enchantment onto the sleigh ring using a quill she'd made from one of the phoenix feathers. It was similar in function to Jerry's stylus, though not exactly the same and easier for her to wield.

Adran nodded, turning back to Erina, "So were you just coming to introduce the kids?" He wasn't trying to be rude but there really was no polite way he could think of to ask if she'd interrupted work to throw snakes at him or if there was something else she wanted.

"Mostly to ask about the chain, but yes. I should get back to my work now though. I'm sure you have work of your own to do as well."

Adran nodded, "I'm working on arrows." If he did this right, he'd have a fresh quiver and flaming arrows that returned after a moment. Of course that all hinged on Adran actually knowing what he was doing, and he was playing by ear. "Who'se outfit are you working on?"

"Shuffle's, at the moment. Hers is a little more like armor though, as I'm trying my hand at working leather into it. I'll need Niudisa to flame proof it as well before I give it to her."
