Fantasy Cursed Island

Adran seemed busy, so Erina looked to Lyak. "Lyak, can you go fetch Nyah for me? I want to keep an eye on these little ones, and I'd rather not shout across the camp."

Lyak nodded and scrabbled out from around Erina to go running towards the play area for Nyah. Nyah had just become the hider, though, so she'd vanished from sight before Lyak got there.

Fia was the seeker for that round, so she was the only one of the three to be seen at the moment as she searched for the other two.

Erina kept watching the hydras. She wasn't sure if she should be impressed with the one that was already going up her arm or concerned with the ones that struggled to hatch.

Lyak frowned, confused. "Nyah?" No answer, she was in the middle of a game, "Nyah, Erina needs you!"

"Nyah's not here right now, can this rock take a message?" A pebble appeared in front of Lyak.

----------------

Before long the other two managed to get out of their shells, and finding Erina's legs offered the same manner of climbing frame they would have had in the nest, started entangling themselves amongst Erina's appendages. The baby hydra's were all very small compared to others they'd encountered. The largest was only a few feet long from tail to the tip of its center nose, while the other two were much smaller.

Fia glanced at the pebble before continuing her search for those she was playing with. What a nice pebble, offering to take a message like that.

----------

Erina looked down at the other hydras slithering around her legs. She made a note to be careful not to get tangled in them. They'd only get longer from here.

Lyak was very confused, picking up the pebble. After some searching herself she couldn't find Nyah either, and ran back to Erina with the pebble. "i couldn't find Nyah, but this rock offered to take a message!", she held out the pebble, which vanished and Nyah reappeared as a squirrel on the loom.

"Sorry, couldn't leave them without something to do, you know?", Nyah smiled, "What did you need?"

Erina looked over as Lyak returned before looking at Nyah. “Ah. I need food for these little ones. I’m sure I could catch some bugs, but it would take some time. And I don’t otherwise know of anything small enough for them.”

"Ew, snakes," It took Nyah a moment to realize what Erina was referring to. The djinn shuddered, "You want mice for these, they're not big enough to get a solid meal from anything else without the heads choking on it."

Erina nodded. “Could you summon some? I’ll search for more myself later, I just want to make sure they’re fed first before I worry about hunting for them.”

Nyah made a face but snapped her fingers, summoning some freshly killed mice, still warm, which the baby hydras were quick to attack. Unlike constrictors or most venomous snakes, they didn't even try to kill it before eating it, the five heads just grabbed the victim at random points and ripped the poor thing into five pieces, all of them swallowing at once and somehow not getting a blockage. Nyah and Lyak both looked a little green around the gills at the sight.

Erina seemed unfazed and even a bit curious. She was certainly no stranger to eating raw creatures that were even larger than that. “Aw, they were hungry~”

Erina glanced over. “By what standards? For an arachne born and raised in these underground ruins, such a thing is normal.”

"Ugh," Nyah shook her head, "I have kids to take care of," she snapped her fingers and vanished to go return to the game of hide and seek with Shuffle and Fia.

"It is a bit... gory," Lyak shuddered as the hydras ripped apart another mouse.

Erina looked to the hydras again. "Mm, perhaps. But it's simply how they eat. You don't have to watch if you don't want to."

"Yes, but you are free to do as you like. Or you could just turn away. I wouldn't want you to be uncomfortable, but I also can't leave these little ones without food."

Lyak groaned, but nodded, "Fine..." She hugged Erina's leg until one of the hydras climbed down her back, at which point she freaked out and almost threw the snake.

Erina looked over and reached down to make sure they were both alright. "Oops. They seem to be curious." Erina decided to try an see if her chain worked on the hydras. "Hydras, in front me, now."

The snakes provided some resistance, especially the big one. Five heads were five minds to control, and there were three five-headed beings she was trying to control. The snakes just looked confused for a moment until the smallest of the three slithered to it's ordered place, looking confused, and then its siblings followed suit

Erina gave a nod. "Good." She stopped using the chain further as she continued, leaning down a little. "Now, do you understand me without the chain? Look down if you do."

The snakes just looked around at each other confused when the chains were dropped.

"Snakes don't have ears, raka told me," Lyak shook her head, "They can't hear you."

Erina glanced at Lyak. "Raine doesn't have ears either. They don't use language like we do though. So it seems I'll only be able to communicate with the chain. I'll need to talk with Adran again."

"Raine's a lizard with dragon blood," Lyak shook her head, "Lizards have ears, they're just not like ours. Snakes don't have any audio-sensory organs. They can feel sound bu can't heat it."

“Mm. The chain still works though. I just need to figure out how to use it better. This is a lot of heads to command...”
