Fantasy Cursed Island

"There's a method to controlling sprites," Lyak said hastily, "If you can't control them, they try to kill you! You do not want to get bit by a parachute spider."

"Can you teach her, or should i?", Jerry asked.

"Of course I'll teach her, you're horrible!"

“Ah. Well, I will appreciate your help, Lyak.” Erina looked to Jerry. “I’m sure you’re busy with other things, but if you have a moment, can you look into getting me a dye pot? Otherwise we’ll all be wearing solid white, and with how dirty this place gets, that won’t look good for long.”

Jerry reached into the bag of holding, "Joanne brought a pot with her, it's in here somewhere... Oh, there it is," she pulled out the pot once used to cook with, "You're probably gonna want to store completed dyes, huh?"

"I think Adran's got a bunch of empty booze bottles in here," Jerry fished those out as well, "Veo and Emil have the water flask, though."

“As long as the bottles are clean, they should do. And I won’t be dyeing right now. I don’t want to do it in here, so I’ll wait until someone is available to keep watch while I step outside of the forge for it.”

"Then I'll clean the bottles out for you," jerry nodded, "Adran told me that he and Niudisa are trying to figure out how to make repellent items from... Gods-dammit, I forgot about Urodor!"

Erina blinked. “Well, if I can assist, let me know. Otherwise, I wish you luck and thank you for the help.”

"Yeah, yeah, I'll come get you, I promise," Jerry smiled and clicked at the floating spider, which somehow floated after her as she made her way back to where she'd left Urodor and the books. "Nyah, can you do me a favor?"

"Why would I do that/", Nyah didn't even stop the story she was showing Shuffle and Fia, "You bounced a rock off my head."

"A pebble, and this is something that might save all our asses if it works."

"Fine, what do you need?" Jerry relayed some critters she needed, smiling at Shuffle on occasion.

Shuffle glanced over at Jerry, tilting her head a bit. Most likely she was unfamiliar with most of the creatures she was talking about.

Once Jerry had relayed all the creatures she needed, Nyah apologized to Shuffle and Fia, "I'm sorry, you two, we're gonna have to continue this later." Then she went over to a table and started summoning the corpses of small animals Jerry dictated. Around the fifth animal, Nyah's form wasn't as solid, and once she had all of them, she couldn't even maintain a semblance of a humanoid shape. "I hope that's worth it, Jerry, I can't recover mana like the fairy."

Shuffle went over to watch. At first, she was focused on the fresh new food on the table, but after casting a glance at Nyah, she became more concerned with her. “Are you alright?”

"I'll be fine," Nyah promised, "I can't hold a form when my mana's below a certain threshhold, where's my puzzle box?"

Jerry scooped the corpses into the bag, "Thank you," she nodded, "Hopefully this is the last time we need to do this."

Shuffle fished the puzzle box out of her satchel. “Here.”

Fia tilted her head. “What do you need all those for?”

Nyah sighed and her smoke was sucked into the box. the puzzle box's pieces moved around in Shuffle's hand to a new configuration that didn't look anything like the old one. If Shuffle tried to move any pieces, none would glow to tell her they were in the correct position.

"I'm trying to build Urodor a body," Jerry explained, "Stick his soul gem in there so that I can use him. Kinda like Shuffle, actually."

"Yeah," Jerry nodded, "I mean, not exactly like you, I don't want him to be able to fight us. He'll end up being closer to..." She gave a vague ballpark of the eventual golem's size. "You know, small enough I can still throw him across the forge if I have to."

Shuffle nodded. “Alright. Is Niudisa gonna help? She’s the only one here who knows necromancy.”

"She's gonna help me animate him," Jerry nodded, "Putting him together-wise, I'm going off of your Maker's work."

Jerry shook her head, "No, but I think Asta was looking for you." She leaned in, "Go easy on him, this time." And then she left to go perform Crimes Against Nature: the third coming of Frankenstein's Monster.

Up at Erina's workstation, Lyak was finishing up her explanation of the sprite. "...So you can't activate it unless it touches a your flesh, and you need to consciously want to activate it, otherwise it's feral and you'll have to kill it. Don't let these ones bite you or you'll swell up like a fungal pod and burst."

Shuffle flicked her ears and glanced around. She put the puzzle cube away before she and Fia went to find Asta.

Erina tilted her head as she looked at the jar. “Was there anyway to make these less...hazardous?”

Lyak shook her head, "They were mama's project, I'm just the one that figured out how to make it work without exploding. The spider is less painful than the scorpion, though." She shuddered, "Every liquid in your body turns to ice."

“I’ll...not ask further questions on that topic. I suppose I’ll take what I can get and take the proper precautions.”

"Good idea," Lyak nodded. She glanced around and then leaned in, "Nobody can control the firefly, when that thing gets out it has to be chained in order to be controlled."
