Fantasy Cursed Island

Emil looked at the was bin. “Mm... Perhaps. We could ask Adran and Niudisa about that.”

—————

Meanwhile, Raine poked her head into Jerry’s tent and glanced around. “Jerry?”

Veo nodded. "We better wait till they finish what they're already doing."

-------------------
Jerry looked up from one of the electric wasps, this one only the length of a finger. "Need something?" She seemed to have this one under control, unlike when Adran first activated one.

"Okay," Jerry turned in her chair, whistling at the wasp. It curled in on itself back to its bean form, dropping down into Jerry's hand. She set it on the table. "Show me what you got."

Raine nodded and stepped with the locks and picks she’d been loaned. She sat down in front of Jerry and got to work. She’d set this lock aside while practicing so that she wouldn’t memorize it, that way it was like a new lock. She rattled the lock a good bit while picking, and she wasn’t too quick about it, but she eventually managed to get it open without breaking her pick.

Jerry watched the lock be picked, eyeing Raine's hands so she could see how Raine was moving her picks. "Good," she nodded when the lock popped. "We'll have you cracking strongboxes in now time!"

It was kinda hard to not improve once you learn not to shatter your picks every time you use them, but Jerry didn't say that out loud. "Did, uh, what did Yidi do to you while you were in the cage?"

Raine paused as her smile faded. “Nothing, yet. You guys showed up shortly after I was captured, so he didn’t get the chance to do anything.”

"Lucky," Jerry muttered. Her back was still sore even though it was already healed. Potions were amazing when they worked. "I wasn't in there a full half hour before he was cutting me apart."

Raine grimaced and shivered a bit. “I’m glad you came when you did. Thanks. I don’t want to think of what would’ve happened otherwise.”

"Happy to have you," Jerry gave a nod, she stood up to grab the thread as a hand-sized purple spider dangled down from the ceiling above. "I've been translating Lyak's works, these sprites are amazing." She put the spider elsewhere. "The spider's air, the dragonfly's fire, the wasp is lightning." She gestured to the other two jars, the one with the small rocks and the small icy blue things. "I haven't gotten to these yet, but water and earth, probably."

"The trick's controlling them," Jerry agreed, "But they're still elementals, so as long as you can successfully give commands, they'll obey." She gave a whistle and the spider curled into its bean form. "I still don't know how they do that, but I think Erina's gonna like it."

"The arachne, the little goblin hangs around with her." Jerry popped the beans back into their jars and shut them. "Look for white hair and no horns if you can't see anything else, that's Erina."

Raine nodded. “Right. I guess I should learn everyone’s names. I don’t really know must of them. I know Shuffle and Emil.”

"Good idea, a bunch of them are out, though, I think." Jerry shrugged, "I was passed out until about an hour ago, I don't know what's gone on."

“Alright. I’ll go and get introduced to whoever’s around then.” Raine gathered up the lockpick kit before heading out to take it back to her tent.

Jerry nodded and waved Raine off, Picking up the jar of purple beans and the tweezer, she went to go visit Erina at her workspace. "I found something that might help you out," she said, setting the jar down. She waved at Lyak, but Lyak just eyed the rogue like she expected a knife to appear.

“Yes. I’ve taken to saving it in spools to use later, rather than spinning it only when needed.”

Jerry was taken back by that, "I didn't know you had spools." She shook her head and opened the jar to take out one of the purple sprite beans. "Lyak, I think you understand these better than I do."

"It's an air elemental born in the body of a spider," Lyak shrugged, "It's really not that complicated." The spider formed out of it's bean and looked around confused. Jerry gave a whistle and a clicking noise, and the spider pointed its abdomen in the air and spun a weird-looking web, floating around on it.

"Parachute spider," Jerry shrugged, "Anyway," she let the spider float around, "Apparently conservation of mass doesn't apply to these things, one of them's painted the ceiling of my tent grey with silk."

“Well, they’re more like bundles than spools, I suppose.” Erina watched the spider float around. “I see. I’ll have to check the silk it makes to see how it compares, but thank you. It could prove useful.”
