Astrid walked beside him trying to memorize each hallway as they entered the dinning hall “it’s gorgeous Kain..” she looked around as he pulled out a chair, sitting down beside him. A large smile formed seeing Lily running over “good morning Lily. Sleep well?.” She helped pulled out Lily’s chair so she could sit beside her before watching Eric for a moment as he sat. She perked up though seeing the plate of food not even realizing how hungry she’d gotten

Kain smiled listening to her. "Thank you" He said. He would have to give her a tour of the castle grounds. He loved his home, and now he loved it even more. It was old fashioned but had been updated with modern conveniences such as running water, showers, laundry equipment and they even had paid to get internet and cable out here as well. That was the only unnatural thing that they had coming from the nearest city. Other than those creature comforts, the rest was left to be as natural as possible. They had their own farm, set out behind the castle with the entrance in front coming up the castle with the river to the right. Out behind the castle, the forest had been cleared out to include fencing with cattle, sheep, goats and a handful of draft and riding horses. The clan's houses were set further down the river making a small town for everyone. Lily smiled up at Astrid as she hopped up onto the chair with a smile. "Good morning! I slept fine though I had to snuggle with fluffy for a while; he's my yarn bunny. My nanny made him for me" She said with a smile.

Astrid smiled softly looking down at her “fluffy sounds like a great snuggle partner.” She loved just how at home she already felt here as she grabbed herself some eggs and sausages. Once they got settled she needed to remember to ask Kain for a tour, she’d never seen their land past what you could see at the boarder and it wasn’t much

He smiled at her before he put some sausages and eggs on his plate before taking a sip of his real meal. Julianne placed a stein in front of Astrid with water inside it. He smiled at his cook before eating his sausages. It didn’t take long for him to finish the food on his plate. He did take his time drinking his breakfast though. “Perhaps we will take a stroll out on the grounds before heading to the border” He said, leaning against the back of the chair.

Astrid looked up at the cook “thank you.” She smiled softly that she had enough thought to get her a glass of water. She finished eating and looked up at him “oh I would love that.” Humming in thought as she watched him drink for a moment it was interesting, having never been around a vampire past her time with Kain or in fights.

Kain couldn’t help how good it tasted. It had the consistency of tomato soup but it tasted sweet. They harvest the blood of the animals after they butcher them for food. His entire clan only drinks animal blood, it was a law his grandparents had put into place eons ago. He finished his breakfast and felt nice and full. “I do hope breakfast was good for you?” He asked her.

Astrid smirked "For a species that drinks blood she makes a mean sausage and egg." She teased playfully "but is it possible for something else on occasion..? I don't wish to make things hard on her for just me..." She hated to have to make the coffee make a whole new thing of meals for just her but she couldn't do eggs and sausage very day

He smiled, looking at her. “Whatever you want, we can either bring in the necessities needed or import new animals. We have cattle, pigs, sheep, and goats. If you want different meats, we can work out your favorite foods and drinks too. Julianne is a skilled cook and is probably the kindest and loyalest vampire in the castle” He said. “Besides, I do like real food too, I just don’t need it” he added with a wink.

Astrid smirked at his wink "apparently though you only like eggs and sausage." she teased "thank you though for the offer, im sure i can work out something with her." She stood "I suppose we should go get the day started."

Kain smiled at the tease. “Oh haha. I’d requested those for today. I can do anything from bacon, steak, ham, as well as waffles and pancakes too” He said, smiling at her. Julianne waved at the two while she cleaned up the table. “I’m around all the time dear if you want me to order stuff for you” She said, she looked around 60 but she was as old as his parents. She had basically helped raise Kain and Lily too alongside their nanny. He stood from the table and held his hand out for Astrid.

Astrid looked up at her seeming to perk up at all the options Kain listed off “Thank you.” She offered her hand out “I didn’t get to formally introduce myself, I’m Astrid.” She smiled softly, she seemed like a really sweet women. She took Kain’s hand though and stood ready for her tour.

Julianne smiled at the pair. She remembered when Kain was young and now the lad was king and he had finally changed the dumbest law this clan had ever adopted. She put her fist over her heart and bowed her head. “Nice to meet you dear, my name is Julianne, I order our supplies and maintain the butchery and breeding schedule so we always have food. Of course, we have others who do the work but I make sure it’s done on time and when needed” She kind of explained her role in the castle. Kain smiled at both. The respect his clan was showing to her who just yesterday had hated their entire kind. He took her hand and intertwined their fingers. Perhaps when if they can intermix the two species, Julianne may be blessed to find her mate.

Astrid just smiled dipping her head to her “it is lovely to meet you. Sounds like you’re the truly important one here.” She joked but turned to leave with Kain, just tucking herself into his side happily. She found it so interesting that so far the majority of the clan had been extremely nice to her when before this they hated her on sight

Kain wrapped his arm around her shoulders as Julianne hummed lightly. “I’d say our king is important but I appreciate the words” She smiled before bowing and returning to cleaning the table. He knew most of the vampires in his clan were younger, and most of them were mateless. He wondered if they were curious as to what will change now with the law gone. He led the way through the dining hall and out to a smaller door opposite the main entrance.

Stepping outside, he led Astrid out into the garden first. Flowers, fruit trees, vegetables and more grew in the large area. Just past that was the fields, the various animals grazing. They kept the cattle and goats together while the sheep and horses were together. The chickens were off to the side with free range of the area with a large coop. He walked through the garden and down the aisle between the two fields. A low whistle brought two horses heading his way.

They kept them for riding to the towns and the drafts for the hayfields and lumber collection. The first one was a large Ardennes draft stallion he had imported for breeding. It was the only stallion he kept and he made sure his mares were larger so there was no real issue with too big babies. The second was his mare, a large Belgian warmblood. “Astrid, meet Orion…” he pointed to the draft who hung his head over the fence “and Sable” pointing to the mare. “Orion is my breeding stallion, I raised him from a foal, and Sable, my personal riding mare” He explained, running his free hand down Orions face.

Astrid followed beside him softly smiling taking in all the sights of the animals and garden. “It’s amazing Kain. You guys really have thought of everything here.” She reached up taking an apple from the tree and munchied on it.

She followed him to the horses and smiled petting Orion “I love him. He’s a handsome guy.” Before moving to pet the mare as well “shes gorgeous.”

Kain could feel his heart swell as he watched her admire his grounds and his animals. "Thank you, ever since we came here, we've tried to live off the land. We have good relations with the townspeople who provide us with the needed power to run things around the castle and town. They will allow us to order things to their town and we ride out to get it. Orders are typically placed at the beginning of each month. We have become more self sustainable now than ever. Of course, my grandparents started this clan, got it set up and created a law that forbade us from drinking human blood which set the townspeople at ease so we could set up like this" He explained, rubbing Sable's neck before dismissing the two with a low click. "We use lumber from the woods to create the buildings you'll see as we pass through town as well as the fencing. My grandparents mined all the stone for our castle, and the original linens, sheets and other things were either imported or made from sheep wool." He added, beginning to walk again, the path between the enclosures would lead them to the village.

Astrid looked up at him “it’s a lot different than home it’s amazing. Your family has done a lot here it’s impressive Kain. We have modernized a lot more at home in some aspects yet still live similarly. Though we do not do any of this to your level, our pack has grown lazily with the conveniency of the humans town.” She walked beside him heading towards the village

Kain nodded, enjoying the leisurely walk. "With the amount of issues other clans have caused with humans, we tried hard to stay away. We took what we needed start and it grew from there." He said, as the town came into view. It was small, older fashioned but it was large given the size of his clan. "Many of our people are craftsmen, they can take the raw materials we have around from wool to jewels to wood and it goes towards our trades with the humans" He said, as they started the walk through the town.

Astrid hummed “it’s nice and smart. It is far easier for us to blend in comparatively so they took the lazily route and just began using the conviency of the townsfolk.”

He nodded, listening to her. "Maybe we can change that, there is no reason to rely heavily on the townsfolk. Perhaps when I speak to your alpha we can find a way to share our resources" He said, as they came to the end of the town. Turning towards the forest, he sighed knowing what was to come. He could only hope that this would go well. "I guess its time to see your pack" He said, looking at her.

Astrid just walked beside him taking in all the sights, it was refreshing to see all his clan members contributing instead of just paying the town like hers did. She frowned though with a soft sigh “I suppose it is…I do hope he will be reasonable..”

Kain squeezed her hand gently, sending a reassuring rumble to her. "We can only hope" He said, leading the way through the forest until they came to the border. He looked at her once more before letting out a low sigh. "Lead the way my dear" He said.

Astrid looked up at him and nodded softly “whatever you do. Don’t engage them they will take it as a threat.” She walked across the border knowing it wouldn’t be long before the border patrol caught their scent. She was one of their top warriors so she knew they would be on the look for her, after all she’d been missing for a day now.

As if on cue before they had gotten very deep into the land, a number of wolves slunk out of the brush growling in warning. It was clear her pack spent more time in their wolves forms than human as they all acted like a real pack would. She narrowed her eyes as if daring one “I request an audience with Ryan.” The wolves seemed to be speaking with each other in silence before they moved to the side.

She walked through the forest though it was evident in her body language she so badly wanted to shift and join the others but she stayed focused. Alpha Ryan was waiting in the clearing outside the heart of their land with crossed arms clearly not impressed. She dipped her head “Alpha.. I bring the new king of the Vampires Kain.. he wishes to discuss with you..”

Kain held his head high but kept his eyes focused on the ground so as to not issue a challenge to the wolves. He noticed that they were mostly in wolf form which made him curious. He could tell that Astrid wanted to shift and join them, wolves were social creatures after all. He stopped beside Astrid, facing what looked to be Alpha Ryan. After Astrid had introduced them, he placed his fist over his heart and bowed.

“It is a pleasure to meet you Alpha” he said, remaining bowed and waiting.

Ryan stood there with his arms over his chest “and what do you want. awfully brave to just walk into the middle of our territory.” He stopped though when Astrid spoke narrowing his eyes before turning “follow me.” He walked into the main pack house and headed into his private office. The house was massive and clearly housed more than just the alpha, they seemed to live similarly to true wolves- together

Astrid sighed “Ryan please… he didn’t cross over himself I brought him… it’s important..” She looked up at him hopefully though it was pretty obvious her inner wolf was being submissive as not to start something.
