Fantasy Code FERAL

Fie kept doggy paddling around as he looked up at the humming bird that was flying around him as he slightly struggled to stay afloat. He just grinned a he listened while making his way to the edge of the pool. By the time BB was done talking Fie had grabbed the side of the pool and was just not holding onto that as he stayed in the water a bit longer. "Keheh Neat? Welllll Ashy and I had fun last night and this morning, I got a picture of it and everything! Oh! And this pool feels awesome sauce! I don't like baths but pools are different since with baths you have to use soap and I don't like it when soap gets in my eyes it stings you know? Sure Ashy uses special soap now...but I must struggle on principle just to annoy Ashy! Keheh Got to keep him on his toes after all!" He chimed before he pulled his soggy self out of the pool.

Sitting on the edge he was dripping wet but he still had his broad smile on his face as he shook a bit to get rid of excess water. Once he was done with his dog impression he looked back up at BB as he remembered the other things the bird had said. "I only got here... I saw Simon in the water so I didn't get a chance to look around before I jumped in." He chimed as he now stood up the best he could on his legs. "Oh! oh! I has an idea! I'm playing hide and seek with Ashy right now! You wanna go and explore this place while I hide from him!? I bet we can find a loooooooooooot of shiny stuff here!" The monkey chimed with excitement as he looked at the bird with wide sparkling eyes.

Barry sported a blank look as Eos came up and talked about alliances and friendship. After interacting with Zoe for a while he figured it was just a simple assessment. With the mention of glass, he remembered that Maia had actually gotten hurt by the thought. He stole a quick glance and her legs but they were covered with jeans. A hit of displeasure towards himself was present on his face till he engaged his focus back at their talk. A brow raised up, he too wanted to know more about Zoe. She had such a strange outlook on life and 'fun' for that matter. It might help break the ice a bit more when they had time. Maybe the two could grab a dwarf tree before they had to leave? That sounded tranquil and nice.

Oh yes, please do tell. I too am interested in stories of Zoe. She is quite the character from what I have seen. He let his eyes wander for a moment while he let them read the note. He saw BB with a little monkey that he had yet to meet. He recognized Fie from the meeting. They seemed to be having fun talking so Barry felt he had nothing to worry about. Odds are she would find interest in something new pretty soon like she always does. What was Fie going to do to keep her attention for that long anyway? He turned back to the two. He was having fun with listening to the banter. Maia was definitely giving off the BB vibes now.

OOO! OOO! you gotta show me a picture. That sounds fun! Did you get like an embarrassing shot of him on the toilet or something? I would take pictures too if I had fingers. She looked at Fie with a quizzical look when he finally got out of the water. OH! right, my mind must have been somewhere else. She said turning her head towards the plants all around. Nothing for her to snack on right now and she didn't wanna get in the way of Barry's conversation. Then Fie mentioned hide and seek and then shiny things. BB got very close to Fie now. Her eye right up to one one of his. You are the most brilliant being I have ever known. LET'S DO IT!!! She instantly took off out of an open door. Then flew back to see if Fie was coming.

Almost as if it were a second thought, Beth pulled the sweatshirt over her head and half-folded it, tossing it back onto the bed. She sported a tee-shirt with the name of some college on it, but Totus brought her another layer, this one a more fitted black zip-jacket. She glanced at Manjano as she took the jacket from Totus, and held it for a moment.

"Dont think I didnt notice that gasp. Or that glance, Totus." She said, sparing the owl a look. He ducked his eyes, knowing better than to deny it, and Beth turned her eyes back to Manjano.

"I know it looks bad. And it certainly feels bad." Beth made a small face, furrowing her brow, as if embarrassed, and then continued, "But really, Im going to be just fine. Im a little sore, and a little bruised, might not be able to move all that well, but with a little time, itll be like it never happened." Beth glanced down at Totus, and he gave a grunt of agreement. Beth always did bounce back well.

She wiggled into the jacket, scrunching her nose at the stiffness and pain. Once it was on, she zipped it halfway and then looped her arm under Manjano's like an old-fashioned young lady. "Now, I am in the mood for a muffin, so lets get a move on before the team eats everything."

Totus chuckled softly, and flew up to the dresser near the door. Without perching on Beth's shoulder, traveling at a walking pace was a little less than enjoyable for him.

"Elizabeth Heartland, you are a piece of work." He said, and she only grinned back at him.

"You wouldnt love me any other way, bird." She replied cheekily, and started toward the door with Manjano in tow. She didnt look at him, but she said softly, "Thanks for being here. Having someone to depend on makes it easier to feel cheerful."

@Lioness075

Manjano politely glanced away from Beth when she took off her sweatshirt, mostly because he was surprised and had no idea if she was bout to friggin' strip or something (those drugs certainly had put her in an oddly chipper mood).

Luckily, she wasn't planning on stripping and Manjano saw Totus fly over to Beth with a jacket handy so he figured it was safe to look again. Not awkward whatsoever. Good job, Manjano.

Letting out a nearly inaudible sigh through his nose, Manjano wearily glanced over at Totus when Beth brought up their reactions to her injuries. So much for subtly.

Anxiously rubbing at the back of his neck and glancing to the side as if he were being reprimanded by a parent, Manjano soon dropped his arm and shrugged helplessly at Beth. He really had no response to her. Despite her stubbornness and clear injuries, Beth wasn't about to back down about moving around and enjoying her time here.

Watching Beth painfully put her jacket on, Manjano almost took a step towards her to help her, but stopped himself. She'd ask if she needed help with something like clothing herself of all things. He really shouldn't push his luck here.

Snorting when Beth looped her arm under his as if they were both about to feature in some 80s movie, Manjano smirked at her mention of a muffin and the team eating everything. Knowing Falarion, there probably wasn't any bacon left by now.

Hearing Totus call Beth by her full name, Manjano instantly committed it to memory, though he suddenly felt the urge to ask why Beth preferred 'Beth' over her full name. Would that be appropriate to ask or would it stir up bad memories?

Not wanting to possibly ruin the moment, Manjano kept his mouth shut and listened to the two teasing one another. It was cute the way they talked to one another like that.

Hearing Beth's tone turning soft, Manjano almost stiffened, but managed to keep himself relaxed while he listened to her. Of all times to feel uncomfortable, it was when the girl he had a thing for was thanking him for simply being there for her. This relationship thing was certainly going to be quite the challenge.

Realizing with a start that he should probably respond to Beth, Manjano nodded at her and then helped her into the elevator, waiting until the door had closed before responding softly, "You can always depend on me, Beth."

Beth walked evenly, although a little slower than usual, listening to the flip flop of her flip flops as she walked. Totus flew behind them, looping up and down as he needed to in order to stay at their pace without feeling like he would fall out of the air. Beth studied the decor of the hotel as they walked, taking in as much as she could from the carpet to the light fixtures on the ceiling.

Totus landed lightly on the elevator floor, looking surprisingly cheerful in spite of everything.

Beth took as deep a breath as she could handle, as the doors slid shut, and was quiet after he spoke. Totus glanced up at her, wondering if she would respond, but her expression told him that she was lost in thought.

It took a few moments, but Beth finally settled on a response. "Words like always are a big commitment, Manjano." Her tone was serious, but then she relented and added in a more playful voice, "Although maybe not, if this job has its way."

Beth turned her green eyes to him, smirking, even though she could feel Totus's disapproving look from her other side. The elevator dinged as they came to the first floor, and Beth couldnt help but feel a little excited at the idea of food. Maybe not a muffin like she had said, but some scrambled eggs, maybe some fruit. Beth stepped out of the elevator without taking Manjano's arm again, but she stayed close to him, a little worried she might need it even though she didnt want to.

@Lioness075

She was pleased to find quite a few of the team members still around, and she gave everyone a smile. Totus found a place to perch that was within comfortable talking distance of most gathered, while Beth moved to check out the food. She seemed to be moving more cautiously out by the pool; Beth had seen a few uneven spots in the concrete already and there was no way she wanted to risk tripping now.

Xiao Hui observed Raven for the slight moment, looking over to her as she responded distantly that she was only doing her job for the team. Smiling softly, she nodded at her, only to see and assume that she was feeling a little overwhelmed. Perhaps it was because of the crowded space, that she, herself, actually really didn't mind, but seeing the Agent standing outside the door, looking ready to leave, Xiao Hui didn't find fault in her. Hopefully, when she recovered, she'd be able to get to know her a bit better, but for now, she should probably stay in bed for the time being. However, hearing Zoe's voice, Xiao Hui laughed slightly, nodding, "It's true . . the tables have turned, haven't they? I can understand why you wouldn't want to lay in bed for so long. . makes you feel as if you're just sitting and doing nothing. It can be quite troubling. . especially when you're so used to moving." She acknowledged before smiling at Zoe. "I am in great company, thanks to everyone on the team, it warms my heart, a lot." Xiao Hui said sincerely, before hearing Zoe's worried tone and concerns. Smiling sheepishly, Xiao Hui gently petted the little kitten-like animal, before nodding, "I should have told someone something, shouldn't I? I'm sorry, again, it's just. . I was used to well . . working with just myself and Laohu." She admitted before Zoe looked around frantically as Xiao Hui noticed Raven had managed to slip away from the room. As Zoe excused herself and told her to get well and recuperate soon, Xiao Hui winked at her, smiling brightly at her as Zoe had smiled as well, "Please, go ahead. I'll be here if you need me." She said, waving towards Zoe, however, what surprised her the most was her radiant smile. "So, she could smile like that." Xiao Hui thought out-loud, smiling to herself as she cooed at the little kitten. "I wish she'd smile like that more often." She finished before Laohu lifted up his head, jumping down from the couch as he made his way near Alec, Duirk, and Rin and Haku.

@Kharmin @DawnAntalios

Turning towards the door again, Xiao Hui hummed softly to herself, as she hoped Raven could find her place here as much as Zoe was trying and getting used to the team. It took time and knowing her teammates, they'd welcome her with open arms, especially if Duirk was rescued by Raven's companion: Kitsune, if she heard from Laohu correctly. However, hearing Duirk's input on mixing his own cd for her to help her sleep or even suggesting that he sung to her, Xiao Hui's eyes widened in surprise before a light hearted giggled escaped her lips, seeing Alec and Duirk's antics, never changing.
"If you ever have the time, I'd like to have your mixed cd, Duirk, with your signature on it. Just in case later on in the future, you become famous and you may forget about us, little people." She teased Duirk before looking at Alec, seeing him playfully stuck his tongue at her before she did the same. "It's on, Alec! Don't say I didn't warn you, but I never give up, especially with challenges." She said determined, despite the fact that they were fighting for the title of worrywart. It was all fun and games, honestly. Soon, hearing Duirk's proud words as Xiao Hui finally knew the name of the little animal, she grinned, "Hi, Kit, finally we aren't strangers anymore, right?" Xiao Hui whispered to the cat, only for Kit to climb on her shoulders, perching on tip as she felt his tail on her lips. Blinking at the white fur on top of her lips, Xiao Hui tilted her head, as she scrunched up her nose, trying not to sneeze. But, at hearing Alec saying he had to go and run some errands to get food for Kit, she was tempted to ask if she could go, only for Alec to have stated that he would have asked her to come, but seeing her condition he changed his mind. Sighing slightly, Xiao Hui nodded, a bit saddened, only for her mood to brighten from Kit nuzzling her cheeks. "I'll be glad to babysit with Duirk. But, please be safe out there. Go and come straight back, okay? Don't get lost." Xiao Hui said, voicing her concerns as she looked towards Duirk, smiling, "Looks like it's me, you, Kit, and Rin and Haku, now." She stated, looking around the room as Zoe and Raven left, and now Alec had managed to slip away on an errand.

@SilverFlight @andujarprime

Staring at the kitten on Hui's shoulder, Laohu growled lowly, not liking how much the cat was cuddling and nuzzling up to his partner so much. Looking over at Duirk and seeing his proud expression of a "father", he suppressed the urge to roll his eyes as he nudged Duirk,
"Take care of Hui for me, will you? I'm going to go and check up on the others and get some food." He told Duirk before turning towards Rin and Haku, "It's nice to see you two here. I really like the color on your Haku, but if I had an option, I'd rather your natural white skin tone." He admitted towards her before dipping his head slightly in Rin's direction as he started heading out of the room only to hear Hui call out to him, "You're leaving too, Laohu?" Stopping in his tracks, he turned around, rolling his eyes, "I'll be back, plus you have Rin , Haku, Duirk, and that. . . thing on your shoulders." Laohu said before finishing, "I'm going to go find Lea to talk to her for a bit." Hearing Lea's name, Xiao Hui's eyes lit up even more as she gasped softly, "Tell her 'hi' for me will you and ask her how she's doing for me okay?" Laohu chuckled, nodding a yes as he trotted off outside to where the pool and food buffet apparently laid. As Laohu reached outside, he squinted his eyes slightly from the bright sun light as he looked around at his companions. He saw Ahmose reading a book it seemed, Barry, Maia, and Eos seemed to be conversing with each other as Fie, Ash, BB, Beth, Totus, and Manjano were around the pool, in the pool, or near the food buffet as well as Luness and Kitsune. Looking for Lea, he spotted her next to Simon and Falarion as he walked up slowly over towards them, making sure his presence was known so he wouldn't scare Simon or Jimbo if they still were a bit edgy around a big cat like him. Hoping he wasn't intruding, Laohu cleared his throat as he looked over at Simon and then Lea, "Hi Simon, Fally, Lea, are you three enjoying yourselves? I hope I'm not interrupting anything?" He asked them, getting a feel of the air around them as he continued, "If I may and if I'm not interrupting, is it alright Simon if I take this, lovely lady right here away from you for a just a few minutes? Promise it won't take too long." Laohu stated as he waited for Lea to join him, "If you're not busy and you don't mind a little chat with me, whall we head to the cafeteria?" He asked her, before bowing his head lightly at Simon and then looked towards Falarion asking, "Still up for a game of ball later?"

When Beth grew quiet, Manjano inwardly facepalmed, as he wondered if he'd said something wrong. He said so little, but oftentimes people either misunderstood what he said or didn't like what he said.

When Beth finally responded, Manjano frowned subtly while looking down at the ground. Did she not like what he'd said? It sure sounded that way.

Yet, she quickly followed up with another response, which left Manjano slightly confused, though. 'If this job has its way'? What was that supposed to mean?

Now sporting a confused expression, Manjano soon was following after Beth since she seemed to feel more confident in walking on her own now. She still stuck close to him, though, so he kept close to her in order to help her out if she needed the help.

Not too long after Manjano and Beth found the buffet, Falarion came bounding to Manjano's side, excitedly barking just about the whole way. He'd completely forgotten about Leandra and Simon, even Laohu, by now.

"Manjano! Manjano! Look at all of the bacon they have here! And the pool is so nice! I fell in it, but it still feels great!"

The whole time he was shouting, Falarion kept bouncing around Manjano in circles, his tail wagging like crazy.

Chuckling at Falarion's excitement, Manjano thought to him, That sounds great, mate.

Noticing Beth now, Falarion bounded to her side and said, "Beth! Are you feeling better? You're walking so you must be better."

While waiting for a response, Falarion snagged some bacon from the table and began messily eating the pieces.

Shaking his head in amusement at Falarion, Manjano then picked up his own plate and began filling it with a good variety of foods, including watermelon, which was a favorite among the twins.

Simon's mood genuinely lifted ever so slightly as the conversation progressed. By the end of it, he was mirroring her grin at the mention of Marie-Lynn.

"I promise I will not make you befriend the rich ever again. I will admit, I am not a big fan of them myself. Unless it's their cars I get to work on."

Simon looked back at the pool and watched as Fie and BB talked in and out of the water while thinking over what Leandra had said. What he said had obviously resonated with her on some level, and many ways she was not wrong. Teammate who spend a great deal of time together, and work together, do build a strong bond. Bonds not unlike those that everyone shared with their animal companion. Simon smiled at that thought, all the while thinking about the bonds he had formed, or maybe it was just one in particular.

Then Simon thought about the "personal experience" Leandra had mentioned. He rubbed at the new tattoo on his arm and let his fingers rest on the last pair of names, Zach & Douglas.

"I wouldn't call it personal per say. Before Singapore, one of the guys on the team had a similar situation. Young guy, really smart kinda like Nigel, but with geology and stuff like that. Anyways, before the mission, he had a fiance on another team. Real sweet girl, they were two months from the wedding before.....well before Singapore. When she found out, she was heartbroken. I never saw her again."

Simon shifted a bit in his wet gym shorts and ran a hand through his mop of wet black hair. He had picked up on Leandra muttering to herself and couldn't help but feel like a little bit of the mood was his fault.

"Aww, don't think like that Lea. My Pop's always said, there are two people on this earth that god put here just for you. The animal who is the other part of your soul, and the human that is the other part of your heart. Don't give up on love, its out there for everyone."

With that he was back to his usually grinning self, thinking about his Pop's was a pretty sure-fire way to get him back to smiling.

Before long, the soft padded footfall of Laohu made Simon turn to see the great white tiger approaching.

"Mornin Stripes, how's our Chinese princess doing this morning?"

Thinking back to the night before, Simon had not gotten to see how Xiao was doing after her tussle with the Nian. The med team whisked her off so fast, Simon was only aware of her condition through the words of the team.

When Laohu asked if he could steal Lea, Simon smiled as he scooted a little closer to the edge of the water.

"Sure thing Stripes, just have her back by 9."

Simon lifted himself off the cement with his arms and turned himself so his back was now to the pool while his legs dangled in the water. He winked at Leandra before pushing away from the walls and disappearing into the pool once more.

@Lioness075 @crucialstar

Having bounded away so quickly to see Manjano, Falarion completely missed Laohu's mention of playing with his ball later. The ball that Barry no doubt still was carrying around.

Leandra grinned and waved at Laohu when he joined her and Simon, but quickly looked back at Simon when he spoke again.

Tilting her head to the side at the mention of a fiancé, Leandra then shrugged and said, "Shit happens, people die. If you don't enjoy who's here and with you now, you'll never know what interactions you could be missing out on."

Haring Simon had picked up on her muttering, Leandra almost instantly frowned, as she responded bluntly, "I don't believe in God."

Leandra had never been a big fan of religion growing up and she'd lived in a household with religious freaks for parents, who only had further encouraged her dislike for religion. She relied on Luness for that kinda support and comfort because as far as Leandra was concerned, there was no God or higher power.

Sighing, and not wanting to linger on such a mood for long, Leandra stood up and stretched a bit before yawning and saying, "Anyways, I probably should go have this chat or whatever with Laohu here."

Hearing Simon giving her a time to be back by, Leandra laughed and rolled her eyes at him, but didn't have a chance to respond before he dove under the water once more.

Shaking her head in amusement, Leandra then walked up to Laohu and said, "So, you gunna lead the way or shall I, furball?"

@crucialstar @zCrookedz

" Unicorn and chimera. " Eos repeated as he nodded in acknowledgement " So you have a fair share of experience with these mythical beings, my lady, I am truly impressed. I have seen many agents being baffled by the mere existence of one... the other group learnt it the hard way. "

His smile vanished as he thought about that fateful day. He, however, did not have time to fall into his thoughts deeper as both Maia and Barry started to ask about him and Zoe - something which surprised him quite much. He did not tell the tale of the girl - or his own for that matter - in long years, to spill the beans now it would be something strange... then again he might as well should share some thoughts.

" Zoe? She is a... strange person to get to know to be honest. " he said, sighing " Many gave up before they knew who she truly was within her heart for she barricades herself with a hostile shell to chase everyone away... "

He smiled briefly.

" She was raised up to be a soldier, you know. Her parents had the mentality that bonding was merely a tool to enhance one's abilities to fight - thus Zoe was taught to fight since the day she could walk. Other girls played in pretty dressed, discussed love and joked around while little Zoe studied fighting moves, strategies and the at of war. It was only natural to join a Rogue hunting organization when she became old enough to bond - she was eager to fight, wanting to follow the footsteps of her sibling she loved so much. "

Mentioning these memories Eos turned sad for a moment.

" We were a force to be reckon with, we fought together in countless missions. She and her handcrafted arrows always found their marks, she always was in the front lines - she truly believed that we were doing good for the world with getting rid of the Rogue threat. Until that fateful day, that is... "

Eos paused as the nightmare returned in his mind. For a moment he could not speak but then, with a long, drawn-out sigh he continued.

" It was the first and only time in my life when I witnessed a massive, dire wolf which was nicknamed " Manticore " by his masters. " he said " The legendary creature was sought to destroy an entire village with its lust for war when our squad intervened. We fought valiantly but Zoe had to watch the horror unfold. One by one her team mates fell, their frail bodies torn apart by the massive jaws of the wolf-like monstrosity. We managed to vanquish it and live but... "

He closed his eyes momentarily.

" She changed permanently. The youthful, cheerful girl who was once Zoe ceased to exist. " he looked at the duo with a sardonic smile " Alas, this tale was not happy but that is what we have been through. I need to thank you for being patient with her - she called herself " Ghost " after this incident and hunted alone, completely forgetting what team work was... that you ushered back into this life as a team player warrior warms this old heart of mine. "

He smiled at everyone, glancing at Ahmose with a grin.

" So worry not, you were not the only one who was bribed to be the babysitter of his companion. Mine has very big tantrums from time to time. "

@Epiphany @Bolts

Beth smiled as she heard Falarion approach Manjano and share his excitement. She had moved to the buffet with Totus, who was on the other side, moving any serving utensil that was out of her immediate reach so that she could get to it without extra effort. She filled her plate with lighter fare than she usually would, cautious of how pain medication could affect her stomach. Scrambled eggs, sliced bananas and strawberries, and a flaky croissant. Totus frowned at the selection, and Beth glanced at him.

"I know city hunting isnt your favorite thing, but you havent had something fresh in a while." She said casually, as she contemplated adding a slice of ham. "You could ask Manjano to keep an eye on me if youre that concerned."

The owl glanced over at the male twin, and actually considered it. But he decided against it; Beth's tone had been a little testy as she suggested it.

"I wont be long." He said, and flew up and over the building to look for a more proper meal.

Beth rolled her eyes once he was gone, skipping the ham for now and turning to find a place to sit.

Falarion bounded up to her, and she gave him a smile. "Im just fine Falarion. I will be 100% before you know it." She wished she could reach down and pet him, but knew she should limit her motion.

Beth chose a table not far from the pool, and gave everyone gathered a small wave as she sat.

"Morning, everyone."

Kitsune looked down and pawed lightly at the well cropped grass on which he stood next to the buffet and pool as he listened to the phoenix. "Yeah, I guess so," he said half-hearted, "but I wouldn't call what I did heroic or courageous." The fox gave a weak laugh, "Heck, I was scared to death at the time with the nian and all that was going on. Nothing like Raven. She is always calm and cool under pressure."

He looked up to gauge at Luness to gauge his comments. The rescue was a dumb move; Kitsune saw that now even though the phoenix was trying to tell him otherwise. Why did being a companion have to be so hard? It seemed that everyone else was content in their pairings. How long would it take for him and Raven? Would it ever occur at all?

"It was too risky, Luness," Kitsune said. "I should have waited for more help or until the nian was no longer a threat. However, what's done is in the past. I'll just have to remember what Tyron Edwards said: 'Right actions in the future are the best apologies for bad actions in the past.'" The fox sighed and then perked up a bit. "I will learn from my mistakes," he said with a hint of confidence.

Barry was concerned by the stories beginning. [What kind of family has that mentality? That is down right sick.] Just the thought of knowing people don't value their bonded partner as an equal but as a weapon was practically on the same level as the Rouges. To top it off, making a child fight? Barry couldn't believe it. [No wonder she has a hard shell around her. I would too.] He started to frown. Perhaps he really should invite her to finding some dwarf trees. It was clear to him that she wanted to reach out in some form. All he had to do was find her. For now he was going to continue hanging with those in the pool area. It would seem rude to up and leave at this moment. When the mention of her old team and the terrible incidence, Barry felt a phantom pain. He reached up with a hand and placed it on his scarf that covered his scar. It was a strange feeling that he never got used to. It happened often when he first got it but over time it faded. [Guess hearing about these things doesn't do me well.] He thought, his face showing displeasure.

Then, Beth walked up to greet them. His face changed to a more welcoming feature though internally he still had some thoughts running through his own mind. Luckily, he had much practice with facial expressions. He peered behind Beth to see Manjano not completely joining the group. It sparked a new thought as he reached into his pocket. [
Man... I keep forgetting I have this ball...] He got up from the table, excusing himself for a moment. Walking over to Manjano, he handed him the ball was a pleasant smile. Walking back to the others now, he could focus more now. He quickly wrote down on some napkins. Good morning. How is your morning going? Hopefully this will redirect the sadness in the air left by Eos' story. Though it was nice to know more about Zoe, the lingering feelings didn't need to be transferred to someone just joining the conversation.

Jimbo watched with mild interest over the groups of people and animals conversing while also enjoying the sunshine and the last little bits of his breakfast. He watched as Simon and Leandra talked, Simon seeming to lighten up a bit as they spoke and not needing Jimbo to intervene anymore. So he went to watching Fie and BB as they chatted about swimming and playing hide and seek. Jimbo could imagine why Fie was hiding from Ash at the moment, but he had a feeling it had something to do with the black ink Jimbo had noticed on Fie's hands before leapt into the pool.

After a few more moments Jimbo lifted himself out of the chair and headed for the buffet table with tray in hand. He was contemplating if he wanted to grab what was left of the fruit or if he was actually full. As he thought, he picked up on Maia, which was not hard as the girl liked to talk quite a bit. She could give BB a run for his money, but he considered that BB might talk faster than Maia. That was when she heard her mention Simon and saw her lean over to look at him. The she began to describe how she had met Simon several years back and Jimbo furrowed his brow trying to think back. It was much easier to remember Ahmose that it was Maia, and after a few moments of thought, Jimbo snapped his fingers and looked as if the light bulb had just been flicked on.

Lumbering over on his knuckles Jimbo walked up to the small group as Eos was finishing up telling the group about Zoe's history and how that had effected her. The story sounded like it explained a lot about how Zoe acted, he was going to have to get Eos to retell it sometime. After the Stag made the joke about the tantrum to Ahmose, Jimbo seized the opportunity and moved forward towards the group and gestured to Maia and Ahmose.

"Hey Bambi, hope I am not interrupting, but I just remembered how I know you two. When I first saw Ahmose back at the club, i could have sworn I had seen him before. But it just now clicked. You were part of the recovery team sent to Singapore after the.....well after the attack."

While Falarion threw questions at Beth, Manjano quickly made a second plate of bacon for him.

Grinning at Beth, Falarion excitedly bounced up and licked her on the back of her hand before sprinting back to Manjano's side and exclaiming, "Bacon! More bacon!"

Bouncing up and stealing one from the plate Manjano had made, Falarion then sprinted away from him with a grin when Manjano glared at him.

Shaking his head, Manjano then turned around to see Barry approaching him with Falarion's ball in hand.

Setting down the plates so he could take the ball back, Manjano nodded at Barry before turning to face Falarion again, ball in hand.

Falarion quickly finished off his bacon piece and froze with wide eyes when he saw his ball in Manjano's hand.

Seeing he'd caught Falarion's attention, Manjano then took a step back to get in a good throwing position before he launched the ball at the pool, making sure Falarion had a clear path so he didn't take anyone out when he chased after his ball.

Sure enough, Falarion became a blur, as he scrambled towards the pool and then leapt into the pool while catching his ball without a second thought. Consequently, he managed to splash Fie and BB due to where he'd ended up landing.

Smirking at Falarion's antics, Manjano then picked up both of the plates once more before walking up to Beth and pausing before looking at he empty seats beside and across from her.

Taking the polite route, Manjano gestured at the seat nearest him, his silent way of asking if he could join her.

Luness sighed, as Kitsune dismissed everything she said once more. Though, she did perk up when Kitsune quoted someone. Maybe there was a way to get through this fox's thick skull after all.

Smiling down at the fox, Luness then said, "And Omar Bradley once said, 'Bravery is the capacity to perform properly even when scared half to death.' Dear, being brave doesn't mean you are not afraid. It simply means you push past the fear to do what is right."

Hearing Kitsune say he'd learn from his mistakes, Luness nodded and added, "The best lesson you can learn in life is to learn from your mistakes. Just don't fear mistakes. You cannot learn anything in life if you are too afraid to make mistakes."

Turning away from Kitsune, Luness then picked up a sausage near her (she'd seen Kitsune eyeing them earlier) and then fluttered down to land near Kitsune before putting down the sausage in front of him.

"You cannot punish yourself for being brave, little one."

Smiling warmly at Kitsune, Luness then tilted her head to the side when she overheard the last bits of Eos' story, just barely catching what he said about Zoe.

Turning so she could speak to the group nearby, but also so she could still speak with Kitsune and didn't have her back to him, Luness then said to Eos, "Eos, dear, everyone changes over time. Nobody stays the same forever and honestly, it'd be very boring to always be the same person. As Kitsune here said recently, you must learn from your mistakes. Perhaps Zoe has learned that working alone is not the smartest route to take."

Raven heard Zoe call to her as she approached the elevators. She almost didn't stop, not used to being hailed by her name and not her rank. She did stop, turn and cross her arms over her chest. A few, other residents of the hotel who were making their way to breakfast considered Raven's posture, and her pistols, and decided to take the stairs. Raven paid them no mind as the blonde woman walked up to her.

There was no way that Zoe could possibly know what Raven endured despite her psychologist telling her time and again that Raven wasn't the only scarred person in the world. If that were true, then the converse must also be true: Raven couldn't know what Zoe had endured to make her the woman that now stood before her, trying her best to befriend her.

It wasn't a feeling of suffocation. No, instead it was one of simply not belonging. Raven was an outsider to the Watch and her stoic personality was ill-suited to them.

Her face soured at Zoe's mention of the group as a family. Raven had had enough of family in her youth and had used the military as a surrogate as soon as she had become old enough to enlist. She never thought of her unit as a family before; rather, they were a collection of other soldiers united together for a common cause or, possibly, ideal. That was all that the Watch was to her and to elevate them to the status of a "family" wasn't high on her list of priorities.

Raven ignored the salute and now looked at the hand Zoe proffered and paused. She knew at some point that this would happen but hadn't expected it so soon. "Honestly, I really only saved her because it was my job not for any triumph or personal gratification," Raven said coolly. "Losing her would have been a liability to the team and checking on her health was nothing more than determining when she will be ready to resume her duties."

She took Zoe's hand with a not-too-firm grip and clasped her other hand over both of them. "I do appreciate what you're trying to do here," Raven said in a tone less formal than usual, "but I may not be the easiest person to deal with, Zoe. My wounds cut too deeply into places that will never heal, and not just from my deployments. Still, it is kind of you to make this ovation and I will not forget it."

Raven removed her hands and punched the button for the elevator. "I should get back to the courtyard and make sure Kitsune hasn't completely made an ass of himself at the buffet," she said as her tone returned to what was normal for her. "I still can't understand why they thought he and I would be a good fit. He's lazy, self-serving, egotistical. He never never listens or follows orders." She sighed as the doors to the elevator zipped open.

Laohu chuckled, shaking off some of the water droplets that managed to get on his paws, before looking over at Simon, "The Chinese princess?" He said out-loud, amused by the choice of nickname Simon had given Hui, even more so the irony behind that name. "She's actually doing quite well, but, it may be the medications the doctor had given her. Nevertheless, she's in good spirits, though, she's worried about you and everyone here. But, seeing how relaxed everyone seems right now than last night, I have a feeling everything is just fine and dandy." He mused, observing everyone around the pool and food buffet area by the chairs. Grinning lopsidedly at Simon's ease and tease, Laohu grinned, "I'll try to have her back as quick as possible for you." He winked at Simon before turning over towards Lea, hearing her comment about making the best of everything and stating bluntly her religious belief. "Honest and blunt as ever, aren't you, Lea?" He teased her before nodding at her indication if she or he should take the lead. "Furball?" Laohu repeated, raising his eyes playfully before shaking his head, "I'll lead the way, young lady." He playfully mocked back as he turned around, trotting back inside the hotel building. Making his way inside the cafeteria, Laohu looked around for the kitchen. Greeting the workers from time to time, he was glad the workers had allowed him access into the kitchen as he asked prior in advance, even more so, he was glad they allowed him to use their kitchen so freely. But, perhaps it was because he spoke Mandarin fluently and they had been amazed by his pure, white coat considering he was the last. . of his kind. "I believe, I owe you some hot chocolate, don't I? Especially for what happened last night. Also, Hui wanted me to tell you she said 'hi' at the same time, I wanted to thank you myself for what you've done, especially catching her from her fall. Without your help, she wouldn't be here right now." He said sincerely, walking pass the counter-tops and the island where chairs were placed around the area before entering the kitchen and the pantry. The workers had allowed him and Lea their own privacy as they all went on a small lunch break, letting Laohu and Lea take over the cafeteria and kitchen space for the time being. "How do you like your hot chocolate, Lea?" Laohu called out towards her, wanting to lighten the mood and make her feel as comfortable as possible. He had to admit, he came to care for the girl, considering he's already starting to see her like a family member, perhaps a sister, in a way. Looking for the hot chocolate boxes full of the packets, Laohu stood on his hind legs, leaning in as he bit at the box, grabbing it with his mouth as he placed walked out, placing it on the counter top, showing Lea. "Hot Swiss Chocolate or Hershey's Chocolate?" He asked her, looking between the two different boxes he managed to grab. As he let Lea ponder on which hot chocolate she wanted, Laohu walked back into the kitchen, grabbing a water bottle and then placing it on the counter-top again, next to the boxes. However, swishing his tail, Laohu walked back into the kitchen, as he eyed a small milk carton and grabbed it by the mouth and went to go and place the carton on the counter-top once more. "Am I missing anything else?" Laohu asked Lea before looking between the two liquid, "Do you prefer making it with milk or water?"

Kitsune's ears lifted as his attention was grabbed by Luness' quoting. He had never met another with the same ability to find famous quotes that fit situations and for a moment wondered if he had met a kindred spirit. Not only had Luness quoted someone, but had found a powerful and pointed one at that!

"Well, if you put it like that," Kitsune said as a spark of life reappeared in his eye, "then perhaps there is something to this whole bravery thing after all." The fox stood a tad taller in front of the phoenix as a modicum of pride stirred in his furry breast.

He gave Luness a polite nod when she provided the sausage that had tempted him earlier. "Thank you, Luness," Kitsune said with sincerity. "I won't punish myself ... well, not for long anyway. Let's just not put me up on some hero's pedestal, though, ok? I'm not quite comfortable with that much spotlight."

Kitsune gobbled down the sausage and, for that one instant, it was the best sausage he had ever had.

Leandra smiled when Laohu said Xiao Hui was doing all right. That was certainly a relief after that desperate rescue attempt the team had made for her.

When Laohu directed a comment towards her about being honest and blunt, Leandra merely shrugged and said, "Yeah, well, I'd rather be painfully truthful then lie about everything."

Grinning when Laohu repeated her 'furball' nickname, Leandra had to resist in the moment to pet Laohu's ever so fluffy head.

Following after Laohu, Leandra glanced about in the kitchen area to see what the workers were making for their next course of the day. As it were, she got distracted from this when Laohu spoke up about hot chocolate.

Eyes wide and instantly giddy, Leandra almost squealed in delight before she all but bounced over to a stool nearby and plopped herself down.

Grinning at the mention of a 'hi' from Xiao Hui, Leandra responded, "Well, tell her 'hi' back. Oh, and that I'm beyond ecstatic to hear that she's doing well."

At the question of how she likes her hot chocolate, Leandra made a thoughtful expression before saying, "Well, I do love tiny marshmallows in my hot chocolate if any are available."

Grinning at Laohu when he asked which box of hot chocolate mix to grab, she said, "Hot Swiss Chocolate for sure!"

Glancing at the gathered ingredients, Leandra then answered Laohu's final two questions, "Mini marshmallows are missing and I prefer making it with milk."

Looking at Laohu now, Leandra said with a warm smile, "Thanks again for this, Laohu. I absolutely love hot chocolate."

Luness smiled warmly when Kitsune finally cheered up, noting that her quoting of a famous military person had clearly hit its mark with him, just as she'd expected it to.

Bobbing her head at Kitsune when he requested she not put him on a pedestal again, Luness then answered, "Of course, dear. I'll keep that in mind from now on."

Just before she could tell the fox to enjoy his sausage, he engulfed much to Luness' delight. She did always thoroughly enjoy cheering up others, which she often had to do for Leandra after some of the missions this team went through.

Speaking of Leandra, Luness glanced about in time to see her wandering off with Laohu. Remembering how the two had been partnered for their last mission, Luness smiled, as she figured they probably were closer now and maybe wanted to discuss how things had gone. Exchange praise, perhaps?

Not wanting to interrupt the two whatsoever, Luness returned her attention to the small group near her as well as Kitsune.

@Kharmin

" They are here. " a sly voice proclaimed as a small chuckle followed the bold statement right after. The speaker, well dressed lady, now stood directly underneath the entrance of the massive hotel, staring at it intently. She wore a traditional, black chinese outfit with her long, black hair being tied into buns to be out of the way. Her hands were covered by ashen colored silk gloves and she wore the finest boots one could wear - she surely was a true servant of fashion in this sense. She looked at the entrance of the hotel for a moment before turning to her falcon companion sitting on her shoulders with a confident smile. " To think that they were here all along... hiding in plain sight, eh? "

" I am certain that it was only the lack of dedication which slowed us down. " the avian beast shrugged " These brutes have the power for sure but the brain... not all of them are blessed with it, sadly. "

" You work with what you work with, dearest Umbra. " the woman smiled, caressing the ebony feathers of her companion who in turn let out an excited small screech. It has been too long since they went out on a 'trip' like this, he ached with anticipation, he rustled his feathers, eager to move. The woman now pointed at the top of the hotel with her gloved finger. " I will need you to stay here and watch out should anyone follow us. I want to know about any important arrivals or departures, I want to know about everything you see, am I understood? " the bird nodded as his mistress continued " One of them is not here so there is one less hostile pair of eyes to look out for - that means that you must report if he arrives back. And should he decide to use force against you for some reason then... " she narrowed her emerald green eyes " Be gentle. "

The bird nodded and took wings, flying high up in the air, taking his vigilant spot on the top of the building, his razor sharp eyes scouring the distance for trouble. With that done the woman motioned behind her as few, bodyguard-like brutes followed her into the hotel. The sight shock of the receptionist was quickly gone when the lady introduced herself and her colleagues to them - she was adept at speaking this dialect and soon enough they were in their way to explore the massive building. Her fluency in Mandarin allowed her to navigate through the halls with ease as she spoke with the servants, gently asking all of them to take a few minute break from their hard work - she and her fellow 'inspectors' were here to make sure that everything was all right - and for that they needed complete focus and concentration and most importantly seclusion from everyone. As they arrived at a large, empty hall the woman turned to her followers, pointing in every direction.

" Spread. " she ordained " Seek them and report. "

The goons nodded silently as they started to move around the hotel with swiftness, seeking their targets like blood hounds would do. The woman waited for the rabble to disperse before she took yet another look at the picture which she got for reference. On the picture she saw a happy, chinese girl laughing and talking with her friends along her companion, an exquisite white tiger who was standing by her side as a stalwart guardian and a true protector. The woman's eyes narrowed as she seemingly drank in the information, their figures burning in her mind with precision, allowing her to immediately recognize them should she saw them. Taking a deep breath to clear her mind she let out a gentle chuckle - of course she would not fail. She never failed.

Smiling confidently she put away the picture and decided to head towards the cafeteria... she wanted to relax and prepare until those buffoons found the target they sought. Just as she walked into the area she found it strangely silent - usually some guests would linger here and would be talking with each other in glee... but now she could only see two people in there just disappearing into the kitchen who were not part of the staff.

She froze in the entrance momentarily as a satisfied, almost sadistic smile sat on her face.

" Well now, how convenient. " she muttered to herself as she stared at the luxurious white tiger preparing something to drink for himself. She did not fully recognize the other figure - the young girl had to be his friends probably - but it mattered not. In fact, this might make things much more interesting. She would not defy direct orders, no... she would just make things spice up a bit.

She reached for her comm.

" 12 and 15. To the cafeteria. Secure the area and seal it. None may enter or approach. " she commanded as she patiently walked up to the bar with a wide smile on her face. She talked to the barkeep, showing him something and motioning vividly towards the girl and the tiger. The barkeep nodded and then barked to the other workers who immediately stopped what they were doing and then nodding at the man they slowly and steadily left the kitchen, leaving only the three of them there. Silence permeated the air, well aside from the girl and the tiger talking and the woman just stood there, observing the two for a bit. She finally decided to walk up to them and with a warm smile she greeted them. She had to wait until her... friends arrived.

" Excuse me! " she said with a happy, welcoming voice, smiling at the girl and the tiger. She raised her hand which had a badge in it " I am from the QCCI - Quality Checker China Incorporated, I have come here to test the quality of ingredients and the state of the kitchen. I planned to do this research alone but it appears that you, young lady, has already begun making some delicious drink. May I have something to drink as well? A coffee would really make my weary soul flutter truth be told. "

@Lioness075 @crucialstar

Leandra almost entirely missed the woman approaching the pair in the cafeteria until she suddenly exclaimed, 'Excuse me!'

In a flash, Leandra scrambled out of her bar stool to her feet, nearly tripping over herself in the process, with her back now against the counter and her heart in her throat. She didn't like it when people approached her quietly and surprised her like that.
Bad personal experience from the past.

Leandra's white hair seemed to all but match Laohu's white fur, as she stood there, frozen in place by the woman's sudden appearance. Hopefully Laohu looked more confident than Leandra felt in that moment.

Taking a deep breath to try and slow her racing heart, Leandra then listened as the lady presented some fancy badge and talked about her being a part of some organization called QCCI, Quality Checker China Incorporated. Leandra, of course, had no idea if this organization was for real, but that wasn't exactly on her mind currently.
Where did this lady come from?

Finally bringing her heart rate back down to close to normal and finding herself able to breathe normally once more, Leandra then raised an eyebrow at the lady before responding,
"Um, first of all, lady, don't sneak up on people all creepily like that. You nearly gave me a bloody heart attack! Second of all, I'm not the one making the drink. My friend here, Laohu, is making it for me because he's a great friend. Third of all, why in the bloody world would I make a drink for you? You're a blow in right now and interrupting us."

While Leandra wasn't always the best at first impressions, she did not like this lady with her sneakiness and how she'd asked Leandra to make a drink for her. Why would she do that? Leandra only made drinks or things for people if she wanted to and she didn't even know this lady.

Alec laughed at Xiao's reaction. Genuinely laughed. How was it she always managed to do that? Duik grinned too.

"Consider that mix as good as made." He said happily.

"Nya." Kit squeaked, slipping back down again into Xiao's lap and curling his dramatic tail gently about her wrist for security.

"Oh I won't get lost." Alec said, feigning confidence. "Its not like everything's in Chinese..." He shot her another cheeky smile as he made his way to the door.

@crucialstar

Alec shut it gently as he left Xiao's room, making his way down the corridor and overhearing Raven and Zoe as they spoke.

He noted the critical tone Raven spoke about her partner and his brow furrowed.

"Its been my experience that your animal partner is a reflection of the part of yourself that you need. Fighting that means you're only denying a part of yourself that needs more attention...but, he's also a person, so I hope you're not saying that sort of thing to him directly."

In truth he couldn't understand the attitude. To Alec, his partner had saved him from become something horrible. He couldn't even imagine what it would be like to resent anything the hyena was.

Everyone was different, he concluded in the end. Waving to them as he passed he continued on found himself at a quick pit stop by the pool, where he found Maia.

@DawnAntalios @Kharmin @Epiphany

"If you're up for it, I really need someone who speaks Mandarin to help me get this kitten formula for our new member. It'll probably mean the difference of at least an hour." He admitted this readily, already having given up on the idea of miming 'kitten formula' to any shop keeper.

He made his way to the door, letting Maia follow in her own.

The streets were busy, the decorations of the new year festival still up and much more vibrant in the light of the day. The streets were littered with firecracker casings and red streamers and confetti, together with the usual debris of daily life, newpapers, empty cups and cigarette butts, but the shop front were colourful and varied beyond imagination. Broad glass windows displayed fashionable new garments, perfumes or shoes and the dim sum rstaurants were in full operation, the sweet and delicious scents wafting to him on the morning breeze.

In the distance Alec heard drums and symbols, no doubt part of another new year event that he had yet to learn about. He tried to picture the procession in his mind, and found he probably couldn't come close.

The first thing Alec bought were bean buns, without much fuss as he only had to point and hand over a crisp bill of what looked like a lower denomination. They tasted amazing! They fit readily in his hand, though taking up every inch of space and the dough as he bit into one was sweet and chewy, augmented deliciously by the even sweeter, grainy bean paste.

He could get used to food like this, most certainly. Turning around he looked for Maia to offer her one.

@Epiphany (if Maia chose to come)

Duik watched Alec go for only a moment, before disappearing and reappearing again with his launch pad and his phone. The laptop had been destroyed (much to Duik's utter despair) by the debris fall back at the club. He began choosing a few softer songs to strong together, locking in a few of the effects to the launchpad to try them out in overlay.

Kit looked on with fascination, but made no move to lift himself from the comfy place he had found in Xiao's arms.

"You know, Alec acts different around you." He mentioned, meaning it to sound absent-minded rather than direct. The first few notes of the mix chimed out as he pressed several buttons on the pad with two claws. "This whole watch thing...this is the happiest I've ever seen him." Duik joked, and played and for that it was often hard to imagine him as thoughtful or observant, but once in a while his insight would shine through, and then, people found their perception of him changed.

Duik made a decision then, to open up a little. "He told me you had trouble with your dad." The hyena looked up with soft, brown eyes. "Nothing more than that." He added quickly. "Alec shares a lot with me, he just said you had...trouble, sometimes. Well...part of the reason Alec gets so strange about protecting me...that's because of his dad."

It was the first time there had been any mention at all of Alec's father, but Duik resolved that if Alec was ever to break free of the hold those memories had on him, he would need help.

Haku smiled at Laohu as he made his way past them. She even blushed a little at his comment. "Why thank you dear. I love my white, it's so rare, but I do like a splash of color now and then. However, as much as I miss it we are not ready just yet to get back to normal. We are still on assignment after all." She said as Rin gave Laohu a half bow, then waved a goodbye to Alec as well. Raven and Zoe were already gone and he was about to make his way out the door. But he didnt want to leave feel rude like he was leaving her alone after just a hello. He decided his grumbling stomach could wait a little longer as he took a seat next to where Duik was. He hadn't spoken much to Xiao at all since the first ride to HQ. He hadn't spoken much to anyone really and he needed to change that. "You know, you did a very good job back at the club. I'm not sure if you were acting the whole night, or if that was your real personality, but you were a great help. And I'm sorry for throwing that strange lady at you so suddenly." He said apologetically. "Come to think of it, you started acting strange almost the minute we touched down." Haku mentioned. "Then again, like Rin said, we dont know if that was the real you or an act. Considering we haven't really spoken. But it certainly helped our mission. And for that we thank you." Haku said smiling as she shifted herself to move onto Rin's lap. "And Duik, I knew you were talented, but holy crap you would give Avicii, David Guetta or even Calvin Harris a run for their money." Rin said with a smile. Music wasn't something he showed much interest in, but he wasn't a complete hermit. Haku certainly rurned to look at him in mock surprise. "And here I thought the only music you knew was your meditation melodies and 80s rock." She joked with him and laughed. "And what pray tell is wrong with enjoying def leppard, or Kansas on my morning run?" Rin asked in mock insult. "When your running, nothing. But yelling for someone to pour some sugar on you in the middle of a yoga class is completely unacceptable" She said to him pretending to scold him. At this Rin turned his head to hide the genuine embarrassment of that moment in time. "How was I supposed to know the instructor was an extreme feminist with pepper spray near her yoga mat." He muttered under his breath.

Laohu hummed in response when Lea mentioned that she liked being painfully truthful than lie about everything. Honestly, he had to give it to her, most people would rather hear sugar-coated words than the truth, Perhaps there's hope left for the world. Hearing Lea's response to Xiao Hui's "hi" made Laohu's heart warm. He was glad Lea was just as fond of Hui as she was for her. "Of course, I'll definitely tell her that." Laohu grinned widely before nodding and playfully saluting her, "Aye, aye, captain." He teased when he heard she wanted tiny marshmallows in her hot chocolate, Swiss, to be specific. Nodding in response, Laohu turned back around and into the kitchen, though his right paw was still sprained, he thought nothing of it as he managed to not make it too noticeable he had somehow injured himself last night. But, thanks to Lea's help, he was able to let his right paw heal for a little while before he walked on it again, though, he showed a little limp as he moved around. "If I was a tiny marshmellow, where would I be? Aren't those things chewy?" He asked out loud to himself than directly asking Lea. Laohu never liked chewy food items unless it's meat, other than that, he would rather not deal with something getting stuck in his teeth, especially when he wants to keep them pearly white and clean. Looking in the pantry for the marshmellow, he heard Lea's thanks as he lifted up his head and turned it in the direction, raising his voice an octave higher so Lea could hear him, "No problem, Lea. Like I said, it's just a small 'thank you' for a friend and I wanted to do this for you." He replied sincerely as he continued to rummage in the kitchen for the marshmallows. After a while, he finally found them as he gently took the bag in his mouth, careful not to make a hole in the bag, Laohu limped slightly back towards Lea and the open area of the cafeteria around the kitchen where the countertop and chairs were. "My teeth are clean, not to worry, Lea. Since well, Hui brushes it for me since I don't have fingers or hands. Sometimes those breathe mints help as well." Laohu admitted, chuckling at how bizarre that may had sounded but, he had to admit, he liked being pampered once in awhile, especially since he loved being pristine clean and shown at his best every day. Soon enough, Laohu got to work as he placed a pot on the stove by grabbing the pot of the handle with his mouth and placing it on top. Using his nose, Laohu pressed the setting as the pot warmed up. After letting the pot heat a little, heading towards the milk carton, using his paws to hold down the carton, Laohu used his canine teeth and gripped the cap as he moved the carton around as it began to open. Standing on his hind leg, as he leaned against the counter for support, Laohu used his paws as he poured the liquid into the pot, letting it heat and warm up. After a few minutes, deciding it was hot enough, Laohu turned off the stove as he waited a bit to place his paws around the handle and poured the content into the cup next to him. Finishing that step. Laohu had managed to open the packet and used his teeth to dab the hot chocolate mix into the milk before adding some tint marshmallows. He had to admit, it was touch making hot chocolate since it took him at least an hour to do considering he didn't have hands and only paws. But he was pretty proud of himself as he slide the hot chocolate over to Lea, "Here you go, careful it's hot. Tell me if there needs to be anything else, okay?" Laohu told her, waiting for her reaction to his hot chocolate.

However, before he paid attention, his ears perked up, hearing voices in the distance as one particular voice stood out. Soon enough the voice became clearer and more distance as he sniffed he air and smelled a feminine scent. Hearing a loud voice from over the countertop and one he didn't recognize, he was on red alert as Lea, on the other hand, jumped quickly and quickly fired back a retort to the woman standing before them when she identified herself as a QCCI. Laohu looked towards Lea, seeing her hand in her chest and her startled expression, Laohu growled lowly, not liking the fact the woman came inside and decided to startle his friend. Nevertheless, hearing Lea's retort to the woman asking them if they could make soemthing for her as well since she was checking and making sure the food at the hotel was inspected throughly for any poison, rotting, or other sort of things, Laohu nodded in response.
"A QCCI? Aren't the workers here notified of this in advanced before sending food out to their hotel residents?" He asked her suspiciously as he eyed her clothing. Why is she wearing black? It's obvious she knew the language and Chinese culture, so why black? Shouldn't she have been wearing red for the new year? If not red, she could've chosen any other attire but she chose black. Why? Narrowing his eyes at her, Laohu shook his head, "As much as I like to make some coffee for you, it would do you and I no good, considering I wouldn't know if the coffee is good and at the same time drinkable and what kind of coffee you'd want." He stated before slowly making his way towards Lea, standing in front of her, casually, though waiting to strike if needed.
