Fantasy Code FERAL

Falarion amusingly watched the reactions he got from everyone over his questions, more so amused by how upset Zoe seemed to get, well, flustered really.

As BB seemingly exploded yet again with excitement, Falarion glanced to the side to see Bael, who had quietly walked up to join the small group in the gardens. Didn't Bael and Zoe have a thing or something? Falarion hadn't really been paying that much attention to the two, but he had noticed them spending some time together here and there.

When Barry found his ball again, Falarion wagged his tail quite a bit while barking at the mute boy, "Thanks, Barry, you're a lifesaver! Phew, I would've sweat a bucket if I hadn't found that thing."

Granted, Barry hadn't literally saved his life so that was a bit dramatic for him to say. Maybe Zoe was beginning to rub off on him a bit.

Limping up to his ball, Falarion sniffed at it before making a face.

"It's all covered in dirt and grass now. I don't really want to eat either of those things. I'm not like a cat that loves to eat grass and then throw it back up."

Hearing Zoe greet Bael made Falarion raise an eyebrow and curiously tilt his head to the side. If the boy had wandered off to do his own thing for a bit, why would Zoe think he was trying to avoid her? Then again, she was one for dramatics. At the mention of heartbreak, Falarion merely shook his head before nudging his ball around a bit with his nose, still feeling disdained at how dirty it was now.

As Eos made his appearance and mentioned a debrief, Falarion's head shot up and he gave a goofy grin before exclaiming, "A debrief!? We're going on another mission, finally!"

Wagging his tail yet again, Falarion almost ran after Zoe, but stopped short when he looked back at his ball once more. Maybe someone could carry it for him until he could get Manjano to help him clean it later?

Leandra was thoroughly amused at Alec's response to her mock threat about the stitching, though she inwardly wished he'd just told her about it after they'd gotten back to HQ. Leandra had felt like a complete failure and not at all like a teammate after that mission since she'd done nothing helpful and the captured baddie had proven to have no viable information for them to use. Fixing the stitching in Alec's shoulder would've given her, at least, some comfort in knowing she wasn't completely useless.

And with those thoughts in mind, Leandra's mood soon became a bit dampened, only to further dampen, as her teasing had clearly gone overboard and she didn't get the best reactions from Alec nor Xiao at this rate.

Keeping a feigned grin on her face to keep up the facade of being relaxed and having fun, Leandra easily hid her dampened mood as she even faked a giggle at their reactions and then rolled her eyes at Alec's remark about what she'd insinuated about his alone time with Xiao after their last mission.

"It's just a joke, dude. I don't actually mean that. Loosen up some, will ya?"

As Xiao whispered to Leandra to ease on the teasing, Leandra's expression faltered for a second before she relaxed and grinned again.

Luness was tense on Leandra's shoulder though, as she could feel some of Leandra's conflicting feelings swirling about in her mind. Usually when these kind of situations presented themselves, Leandra would struggle to get any proper sleep that night.

While Leandra thought Alec's final reaction was a bit cute, she had gotten to the point now where she didn't really feel like teasing anyone anymore and simply shrugged at Alec's doctor comments. This wasn't really that much fun anymore.

Hearing Xiao's voice wavering at the mention of being Alec's patient and all, Leandra quickly understood that instead of having some fun time with the two and encouraging them to get closer, she'd seemingly put a splinter in their relationship, as the two were now stiff as boards and couldn't even make eye contact with each other. Considering how Alec had quickly brushed aside all comments about the two being anything other than friends or patient and doctor, Leandra knew she'd made a mistake. Great.

Furrowing her brows at the two, Leandra opened her mouth to apologize since she'd clearly made things worse between the two instead of better, but Amber quickly made her appearance and announced a debrief.

Of course, Alec quickly excused himself without a second thought and was seemingly gone in a blink of an eye.

Before Leandra could even really get in a word with Xiao, the girl too seemed to disappear in a blink of an eye, though she did compliment Leandra one more time. Clearly, she was, at least, trying to cover up how she was feeling unlike Alec, who made it pretty clear that he was uncomfortable with the situation.

Sighing to herself, Leandra didn't bother saying anything to anyone else in the gym, as she simply exited and headed straight to her room.

Luness kept quiet until they were in Leandra's room and the door was shut.

"Lea, you didn't know that would happen."

Scowling at this, Leandra soon began rummaging through her dresser for a fresh pair of clothes while Luness flew over to Leandra's bed and landed on it.

"No, Lune, I should've known better. Those two have barely gotten to know each other so far. I mean, we've all only been together for a few weeks, maybe a month now. They're clearly not as close as I mistakenly thought and I've probably just pissed all over their potential relationship with my poor choice of words."

Looking worriedly at Leandra, Luness was about to say something when Leandra silently entered her bathroom and shut the door behind her before Luness could get another word in.

The shower soon was heard, as Leandra closed her eyes while the water ran through her hair and over her body, one of the few soothing things left in the world for Leandra. Normally, she'd love to sing in the shower, but her soured mood kept her from doing so.

As Luness waited for Leandra to start singing, she quickly realized that wasn't going to happen and so she settled down on the bed before softly singing (just loud enough for Leandra to hear over the shower, though).

[media]
[/media]
"She just wants to be, beautiful. She goes, unnoticed she knows, no limits. She craves, attention she praises, an image. She prays to be, sculpted by the sculptor. Oh, she don't see, the light that's shining. Deeper than the eyes can find it. Maybe we have made her blind. So she tries to cover up her pain, and cut her woes away. Cause covergirls don't cry, after their face is made..."

Continuing through the song with the exact same voice as the artist thanks to her mimicry skill, Luness soon finished the song and paused uncertainly, as she waited for some kind of response from Leandra even though she could still hear the shower running.

As the steam fogged up the mirror in the bathroom, Leandra could feel the tears rolling down her face despite having water already cascading against her face and body.

The song wasn't entirely meant for just this one occasion, as it brought out deeper emotions in Leandra and had a tendency to, in a sense, bring her back to reality and back to the moment.

About ten more minutes passed before Leandra exited the bathroom, her hair pulled back into a small ponytail while her clothes were simple. A white tank top with some domesticated cat species on it, that also happened to be wearing a fedora very casually, with some wording above it, 'Rawr!'. She wore some black jeans, though a hole was noticeably torn in her right knee area of the jeans. It was hard to tell if it was bought this way or got damaged at some point, though. To top it all off, Leandra was wearing her old, rather beat-up black converse as well.

Smiling ever so faintly at Luness, Leandra muttered a quiet, "Thank you, Lune" before exiting her room.

Luness silently flew after Leandra and had to double back a few times since Leandra was walking so slowly. Since she wasn't wearing any clothing to cover up her shoulders entirely, Luness wisely decided to not land on her shoulder, as she'd probably scratch Leandra with her sharp talons. Not the best idea.

Soon, the pair entered the debrief room to find that the only other ones there thus far were Xiao and Laohu.

Instantly feeling a bit awkward, but not wanting to let it show or possibly offend Xiao even further by avoiding her, Leandra walked up to the girl and smiled at her before sitting down beside her.

Luness landed on the table right in front of Leandra and almost slipped for a moment when she was caught off-guard by how polished the table was. Quickly correcting and catching herself, Luness then smoothed her feathers down after the initial surprise and harrumphed in annoyance before becoming quiet once more.

Ever so slightly amused by Luness' antics, Leandra faintly snorted before looking back at Xiao and saying, "Hey, sorry about earlier. I was just having a bit of fun...and I guess I got carried away. Sorry."

Anxiously rubbing at the back of her neck, a habit both of the twins shared, Leandra then waited for Xiao's response to her apology, which she felt was definitely necessary after seeing the reactions she'd gotten both from Xiao and Alec after her antics.

Xiao Hui gently hummed to herself as she played with Laohu's pelt. It always calmed her down and plus, it had been a while since she played with his fur. Smiling softly, Xiao Hui reminscid to the time she first met Laohu, surprisingly, it wasn't the night he literally saved her from her fate, but way before then. As a child, she was always curious, vibrant, wanting to explore the world as she had heard scuffling in the grass in her gardens. Low and behold, Laohu had appeared before her. Seeing Xiao Hui's thoughts, Laohu relaxed immensely, thinking back to those fond memories, ones they shared that were filled with tranquility and serenity. Xiao Hui felt a calming sensation pass towards her in waves as Laohu got up gently, as he faced Xiao Hui, looking at her the same way they made those many years ago. "Twiger." Xiao Hui whispered softly yet cheerfully, as a genuine smile formed on her face. In return, Laohu chuckled a heartily laugh, rubbing his head against Laohu's leg, "You were so cute back then, Hui, with those big legs of yours. It was so tempting to not just bite them whenever I saw them." Xiao Hui blinked, gasping playfully, "I knew it! You always wanted to eat me!" She frowned before bursting into laughter as she hugged Laohu inher arms, loving his warm embrace. It had been a while since she shared these intimate moments with Laohu, and they both indulged in this moment a while longer, letting it take them away from the realities of the world.

After a few moments passed, Xiao Hui leaned back as Laohu waited patiently for the others to arrive, however, his ears perked at the sudden noise as he looked over, seeing Luness almost slipping but composing herself quickly. Laohu stiffled a chuckle. seeing Luness' clumsiness reminded him of Hui's own clumsy feet. However, seeing that Leandra, Laohu observed she looked slightly nervous, crestfallen, and well . . not herself as she had been this morning. Could something have happened that he didn't know about? Regardless, he decided to leave the girls to their own discussion as he turned away, laying down, as he closed his eyes. Smiling in return towards Leandra, Xiao Hui titled he head, wondering what was wrong for Leandra to react so . . distant towards her. However, the words Leandra spoke next spoke to her in many volumes. Before responding, Xiao Hui thought back to the discussion they were having before as she tried to remember all of the expressions and actions each of them were making, including Leandra. How could she had been such a god-awful friend that she didn't realize that Leandra had her own uncomfortable and awkwardness? Especially when she and Alec reacted in such a way. Gently reaching over for Leandra's hand as Xiao Hui placed her palm on her as she patted it, Xiao Hui shook her head,
"Lea, please. . don't apologize. Why do you have to? You did nothing wrong, it wasn't too far. If no one can take jokes and teasings once in a while, how can we all laugh and be care-free right?" She asked her, tilting her head, "Trust me, when I say this, your jokes are much needed, especially in cases where everyone needs a pick-me up." Xiao Hui said, reassuring her before eyeing her closely, "You don't need to hide your feelings or pretend you're okay either. . Lea. I should probably listen to my own advice too, should't I?" Xiao Hui laughed lightly, before letting out a small smile. "We all make mistakes, and that's when we have to improve, to not make that same mistake again. Plus you're not the only one who's in the wrong." She said sincerely before letting go of Lea's hand but not before squeezing them once more. "I'm sorry too, Lea. I put you in an uncomfortable position, I really didn't mean to. It's just. . . I don't know what it is I feel . . At the same time? It's a little hot and cold. . Does that make any sense?" She asked Lea, surprised she was confiding in someone other than Laohu, though it felt better, knowing she had a girl to talk to. She never had. . girl friends and seeing that not only was there Lea, but Zoe and Beth were there too. Perhaps they'll grow closer. . . like sisters? Xiao Hui always wanted a sister, but she'd never admit that to her Father especially after. . . No, shaking her head, Xiao Hui looked back at Lea, "I'm afraid. . if I figure out the reason behind what I feel . . it'll only bring turmoil and at the same time. . it took me a while for Alec to speak to me. Sometimes, I believe he hated me, if anything Lea, don't you think there's something between you and Alec?" She asked her curiously, tilting her head slightly, "I mean . . I do see the way you two talk to each other, could it be you have feelings for him? But because boys will be boys. .plus, he speaks to you more casually than he would ever with me." Xiao Hui smiled, patting Lea on the shoulder as she took a deep breathe before getting up and walking around the area. "I just want you to be happy, and I'll always support you, no matter what." She said sincerely, only to look around the room before walking back towards Lea and embracing her in a hug, something that was so foreign to her. . until she had hugged Alec back then. But this time. . she felt it was needed, "My mother. . ." she began, before Laohu's head propped up at Hui mentioned her mother, "always hugged me, whenever I felt sad or just needed someone's warmth. But, there are those who don't like hugs. . . such as myself, but for some odd reason . . I was okay with it, perhaps she was my mother, or maybe it was just soothing. Whatever the case was, I welcomed it .. . and I could only hope my hug soothes whatever that is making you ache right now, even just for a few seconds." Xiao Hui finished as she whispered softly, not before humming a foreign tune softly in Lea's ears. Once Xiao Hui finished, she patted Lea's back before leaning back and smiling at her, "Thank you for being a good friend, Lea."

BB stopped spinning around Zoe's head while she explained. It helped her hear everything and she was also getting pretty tired. Barry would grab the sweet sugar water that she just loved like he always does. The mention of defying orders, risking lives, even missions that weren't allowed. It was hard for BB to comprehend just exactly what she was talking about. She wanted to know more about what happened. All the details of what was going through their minds during the whole thing. She glanced at Barry who was filling a hole he had made earlier. She knew he wouldn't appreciate prying for details. She tried really hard to find out all that happened while he was away. In return, she got a very sad and depressed Barry. There was no way she wanted to bring that upon anyone after helping him through that sort of thing. Touchy subjects were always a bad thing to bring up unless it was absolutely needed.

OOOOH! No wonder you all were here doing random stuff for a few weeks. Here I thought Barry and I were getting some practice in while there were no jobs to do! Well, with Barry's eyes and my speed I'm sure we can keep this suspension thing from happening. Also, I reeeeeeeealy want that cake. In all honesty, she did think it was strange that non of them had gone on missions for the while they were here.

Barry had flattened the loose soil in the ground. Even thought it was a small hole, the brown was still clearly noticeable when surrounded by so much green. [
At least grass grows fast.] He thought with a shrug. Standing back up, he noticed Falarion messing with his ball. Commenting that it was all dirty and such. There wasn't much Barry could do now. His hands were already dirty as is from gardening. When a white stag walked in, Barry couldn't help but keep an interested gaze towards it. Listening in on the conversation, it seemed like a mission was coming up. He brought a hand up to his necklace that was underneath his scarf. Something to give him a little courage wasn't bad right? After all, he had been out of this sort of thing for a while now. [Guess it's time to get a little more serious.] He breathed in deep and exhaled. He nodded towards Zoe and was about to motion towards the mission room when he noticed Falarion still reluctant to just pick up the ball. His longing eye's for the simple object. He leaned down for the ball with his dirty hands. [More dirt wont matter if he wont take it now...] His scarf getting caught in a stray branch. As he leaned more, the scarf unraveled. [Oh sugar...] He thought as his scarf hung from the branch. His picked up the ball and put it in his pocket. While sporting a rather nasty looking scar on both sides of the neck, he untangled his scarf. Wrapping it around once again, his face showed annoyance.

As he went up to the group, he noticed BB flying a little slower than normal. It seemed she had burned off most of the energy already. Unscrewing the bottle he kept on him, he held it out for BB.
Thanks B. You okay? She said with concern. She noticed he never liked many people seeing his neck. Heck, it took weeks before he was comfortable with her seeing it. He was always patient with her, so that was one thing she could be for him. Barry nodded though it was sluggish. Alrighty, well it's time to get a move on slow poke! She said before taking a large plunge into the liquid. Using her straw like mouth, she gathered as much as her little body could handle. We're ready to go when you are! BB said while both her and Barry waited for Zoe to lead.

Simon's fists flew at peace in rhythm with one another. Once one retracted the other was only a split second behind. He felt most of his hits land, but towards the end Simon could feel Ash was beginning to catch on and the punches became less effective. Hail Marys can only last for so long if the other fighter is competent enough to pull his head out of the furry of punches and pay attention. Obviously, Ash was such a fighter. Towards the last few punches, Simon began to try and think about throwing in some hooks, maybe it would be enough to through Ash off guard once again. But his thoughts were cut short by Ash's quick movement.

The next few seconds seemed to stand still as Ash moved into position and the fight came to its conclusion. Simon watched as Ash got into position with impressive speed, and felt the leverage he was putting on his whole body. When Simon's felt his feet leave the mat and the room began to spin only one thing went through Simon's mind...Craaaaaaaap

That thought followed Simon through the air until he came to a sudden stop staring at the ceiling of the gym.

Simons chest rose and sank several times as he tried to steady his breathing from his barrage. The spar had left Simon feeling energized and excited, and laying on the mat he needed only to get back up and keep going. But the call for the group to head for debriefing put a halt on the spar and Simon looked up at Ash as he extended his hand towards him. He smiled and grabbed hold, pulling himself off the ground and chuckling as he slapped Ash on the back after he was upright again

"That was very well executed, my friend. I agree, we should have sparred more during our suspension. For now, we will put this on hold until next time. However next time I shall not hold back, now that I know what you are capable of."

Jimbo had continued to watch from the sidelines until Amber called for the group to head for the debriefing. It was only seconds later that Simon came crashing down like a giant bag of potatoes and Jimbo was on his feet looking from Simon to Ash with impressed amazement. As the two men headed for the debrief, Jimbo joined Simon by his side and the two followed the rest out of the gym.

"You know what this means don't you Jim?"

Jimbo sighed, he knew what it meant to Simon. He was only able to say the first word before Simon joined in, throwing his arms above his head and flexing his arms with a huge grin.

"More TRAINING!!"

Amber winced visibly as Simon hit the floor, trying to decide whether to laugh or sympathize after the fact. In the end she smiled and shook her head, meeting his eyes as she fell into step beside him.

"You getting rusty Sincalir? I never thought I'd see the day." She teased him lightheartedly. "Or are the recruits just getting that good?" Now that was something to hope for. Amber wasn't really going to hide the fact that she had been worried (was still worried) about a few.

"You'll keep them in line out there won't you?" She wondered if he'd be surprised to learn that she wasn't coming on this particular mission.

@TheBOOKWORMgal @Peaceswore

Bael shot Zoe a sheepish sort of a little smile, looking at the grass for a moment. "I couldn't... I'd never avoid you, Zoe," He assured her as he stepped back, following the others to the briefing room. He sat down near Zoe, glancing at her before turning his attention to the others and the information being thrown at them.

He felt his stomach dip at the phrase human trafficking. "So... They're... Buying people to kill them...?" He asked quietly. "How do you find someone to buy people off?" He stared at the table with a frown. Then there was the suggestion of switching partners with someone. He looked up sharply, bright green eyes wide. "You'll separate us? But Cedar bear and I--" he stopped and clenched his jaw, shaking his head. "...No. Okay. Fine. Orders -- if that's what's got to be done, then we do it."

The reddish bear looked at his friend anxiously. He didn't like the idea any better. "So, what else are you gonna do to us?" He asked curiously, trying to turn his attention away from the prospect of separation from Bael. "Hair dye? Color contacts for Bael?" He looked around the group. "Y'kno' I think Duik would look good with stripes."

Beth stared down at the table, her face set in absolute neutrality. She didnt move, didnt speak, didnt blink for a long time. Then, she opened her mouth, wanting to tell him that she was afraid, that she didnt know what to do, that her brokenness was contagious and he didnt need it too, and so many other things. "Manjano, I-"

She was cut off by a voice in her ear over the coms she had gotten in the habit of wearing. She glanced at him, briefly showing a little regret and worry. "They want us in briefing." She said softly, standing and grabbing her sandwich. She would eat it while listening.

Totus glanced happily around at the reaction to his joke, intending to add to it even more, but a wave of emotion from Beth distracted him. She suddenly projected the image of the briefing room into his mind, and he automatically nodded.

"I need to catch up with Beth before the briefing." He said, and started toward the kitchen.

Beth headed out of the cafeteria, unwrapping her sandwich carefully. Her first bite was delicious, but she hardly tasted it. Totus landed on her shoulder shortly, and she fed him the saved roast beef without a word. He rubbed against her cheek, but even that couldnt rouse her from her thoughts. Totus looked around for Manjano, suddenly very concerned about what had been said.

@Lioness075 @DawnAntalios@Bolts

The pair picked a seat at the back, as usual, and Beth munched moodily while ignoring Totus's unspoken question.

Fake bonds. China. Disguises. Swapping parteners. Nothing too out of.. Wait, swapping partners? That snapped Beth out of her thoughts, and she and Totus shared a look not that far from panic.

Zoe nodded at everyone and motioned them to follow. She chuckled at Bael's response as the boy speak - he was certainly a very curious guy and it was strange to talk to him sometimes. Regardless, she thought about the boy as a very interesting partner for sure.

As they walked ideas surged in her mind with a continuous flow - she was eager to face the new challenge they were up against and she was ready to to strike at their enemy wherever she could. Her fingers twitched, she longed for a good fight so that she could finally test her mettle and her new skills in combat. As they walked Eos suddenly spoke.

" You seem different somehow. "

" I did not put on any make up if that was what you tried to imply. "

" No, I meant in spirit. " the stag said " Your aura is different, your thoughts are different. "

" Nothing has changed I can assure you. " the girl said reassuringly as they finally arrived in the briefing room. She sat down, watching everyone following in suite and she listened to the briefing. The news about the machine and its effects were shocking to say the least, she was unaware that the enemy held such power in their hands. She shuddered to think what could the Rogues do with such device at their disposal... but the story did not end there.

Listening how they used human sacrifices to fuel the terrifying construct she frowned.

" Inhuman beasts. " she growled as they continued to speak. When it came to disguises she raised her eyebrow again. No way that she was going to play a cheerleader again... but she understood that they will have to do what they must. It was then when the separation of partners was mentioned. She shrugged, this not being the first time from being in a different team than Eos so she as not afraid too much. The stag did not share her strong will but agreed to the terms nonetheless.

" So China, huh? " she asked with curiosity " It is a very dangerous thing to meddle there... I heard that there are other forces there than the police to keep up order constantly... legally or otherwise. "

Eos looked at her in surprise but he did not ask. He thought he knew what Zoe was talking about.

" I am not fond of us separating yet again. "

" It is all right, Bambi. It was fine the last time as well. "

" Except for you almost dying from a paralytic poison. "

" Nobody is perfect. "

" You almost exploded with the catacombs whilst escaping. "

" Minor setback. " the girl concluded, folding her arms together waiting for further information.

@SilverFlight @everyone

Simon lowered his arms as Amber came up beside him and smirked at her question about the spar. He puffed out his chest a bit at the remark about losing his touch, the comment was a tad bit offensive.

"The Watch has always been good at recruiting. This team is strong in so many different ways, it's not surprising that someone was able to get me on my back. But I doubt it will happen again."

Simon smiled wide at the thought of the spar and Ash's move. Simon learned by doing, and he had learned a lot from that fight about his own fighting techniques as well as Ash's. Now he just needed to figure out a way to use what he learned.

Ambers next comment made him raise an eyebrow. She sounded concerned, which was understandable given how things had been going for her recently. He smiled as he winked at her.

"I'll keep an eye on them. Promise."

Before the reached the briefing room, Jimbo lumbered up beside Amber and shot the two of them a smile.

"Yea, but who's gonna keep an eye on you Muscle Head?"

Simon began to chuckle as Amber headed towards the front of the room and joined Calista. The two found their seats, same as always half way down the table. As Calista briefed them on the last mission and the details of the new mission, Simon watched as the slides flipped across the screen. Jimbo was paying close attention to ever word Calista said the story she was weaving was near to impossible to believe. The possibility of creatures being able to retain their sentience was astounding, but then the thought of the cost made Jimbo's chest ache. For a moment, his memory flashed back to the orangutan he had trapped in the catacombs. The anger and hatred he saw in the creatures eyes, he had feared that by pulling the trigger and ending him he had betrayed his very own kind. But seeing this new information made him think differently as if the things they were fighting were gone long before Jimbo had pulled the trigger.

As Calista began with the new mission details, Jimbo returned to the meeting. Having been seen in the catacombs, even by fuzzy dimly light camera pictures, would be a major problem for those who had gone to rescue Amber. He began to wonder if the others had been able to take care of anyone who had seen them while guarding Gigi. But as always, Calista had thought of a solution. The prospect of not being with Simon made him worry. He could only hope that whoever went with the big guy, would be able to keep him focused long enough to not do anything stupid.

Barry followed Zoe to the room where many people and animals were patiently waiting for the news. BB happily rested in his scarf as she had been hyper much of the morning as well as her time in the garden. So many different faces. To know that each one was good enough to join The Watch was very reassuring. They all seemed to be eager to get out of this place and into the real world for a while. Hopefully that excitement wouldn't impede on the mission at hand. Barry listened closely and viewed each of the frames diligently for any signs that would lead them to a hot spot. If it was in a cooler, a large area, populated or not. He couldn't find much correlation to much from these pictures. He didn't have much context on what happened last mission. Just the thought of a machine like that made both Barry and BB's stomachs turn. No living creature should be subjected to that. [An incomplete bonding... Do they know they aren't complete? Surly they do, they must want a more primitive anger in each. Makes for a more dangerous fighter...] Barry grimaced at his own thoughts. Maybe the newer re-bonded creatures couldn't fight back against this? A mind control type of deal. It was hard to believe that re-bonded animals would just up and accept that they should be on top. Everyone knew that bonding is an amazing thing. To share a deep connection with someone like that. Someone to always rely on to have your back, share memories, grow together. How could anyone, animal or human, throw that away in an instant.

An annoyed expression was prevalent on both of their faces. That was until they brought up disguises and splitting up the companions. Barry's eyes lit up as he could make someone look completely different. Give him a little while and he would make you whatever you wished. BB on the other hand was interested in the splitting up.
OOOOooOO, interesting! It would give us a chance to meet more people Barry! He nodded at her words. [looks like it is pen and paper for a while.] He thought to himself at the idea of who he would be paired with. They would probably have to have a small code. Something to quickly say "hey, danger" or "follow my sight". It was much easier with BB since they have been together for so long. Somethings don't even have to be said between them to get a message across. BB scanned the people in the room. So many different types she could be paired with! There was Zoe whom she was fairly sure would not want to be on a team with her. Not out of hate though. She did say she liked to charge into battle and what was BB suppose to do about that? There was a very big man next to a gorilla. That might be a safe bet. A big brute to take on enemies while she either hid behind him or flew around. The quiet guy was there who had instantly left when Barry and BB arrived. She wasn't sure how to feel about him. Perhaps he was like Barry? That could work. There were just so many possibilities that her mind was racing faster than her wings could flap! You gonna be okay B? I'm sure you got something ticking in that think tank, but I gotta check right?! It's just so crazy to think our first mission won't be together. Barry gave her a reassuring smile but soon faded back to a more serious nature. He looked at her with focused eyes. I know, I know. I won't give them trouble!

They both sat back to wait further details on the matter. Now that they sorted out their own personal shackles, more or less, things would hopefully go a little smoother. It was a little odd to split Barry and BB up since they were never caught on camera. They didn't mind though. It was like a buffer in case someone recognized someone.

Luness gave Laohu a look when she heard his attempt to stifle his laughter, but the look was mostly an amused one.

As Xiao began speaking to Leandra, Luness hung back and settled down to preen her feathers, leaving the two to have their moment in a mostly private setting.

As Xiao reached for one of her hands, Leandra almost stiffened before she reminded herself this was Xiao and not someone with the intent to harm her.

Relaxing once more, Leandra merely nodded at Xiao's response. She was right, but Leandra also had a strong tendency to blame herself for just about any and everything that went wrong around her.

Hearing Xiao say how Leandra's jokes were needed, Leandra sheepishly grinned at her, as she hadn't really expected that kind of response. Were they really that necessary or even desired?

When Xiao's expression became one of perception, watching Leandra closely, Leandra felt herself almost shrink a little, as her heart began to pound. Much like how Xiao felt, Leandra wasn't always keen on being in the spotlight, especially if it involved her talking about herself.

Shrugging at Xiao's comment about her hiding her own feelings, Leandra muttered in response, "I'm fine, seriously. I just wanted to apologize for my behavior and all..."

At the mention of heeding her own advice, Leandra raised an eyebrow at Xiao, but held her tongue, as the girl continued speaking.

Nodding at Xiao's words that sounded like some quote she'd find on Tumblr, Leandra then responded, "You're right, Xiao. We need to learn from our mistakes, not wallow in them. Though, I absolutely suck at this."

As Xiao let go of her hand, Leandra tried to not look overly relieved, as the unexpected physical touch had, well, surprised her. If she initiation the physical contact then it wouldn't normally bother her, but when others did it first, it always got to her and made her heart race.

At the mention of being afraid of the confusing feelings Xiao had towards Alec, Leandra somewhat amusingly looked at the girl before saying,
"You do realize that's what just about every girl says about any guy she has a major crush on, right?"

Pausing, Leandra then blurted out, "Have you ever dated anyone before now? I mean, if you are so confused by these feelings, then it could make sense if you've never dated before."

Quickly realizing how rude that might've sounded, Leandra anxiously backtracked, as she said, "Shit, sorry, that probably wasn't the best choice of words...and sorry about that cuss word."

Feeling Luness' glare being sent her way, Leandra winced before adding in a whisper, "Luness hates it whenever someone cusses. I just can't help it sometimes."

Luness harrumphed to herself nearby before returning to preening her feathers.

Leandra was so distracted by the amusement of the cussing situation that she almost entirely missed Xiao's mention of Alec having feelings for Leandra instead of Xiao.

Leandra's jaw dropped open in an instant and she could only quickly shut it before she looked like an idiot.

Shaking her head in mostly confusion, Leandra then said with a frown,
"I doubt that. I find it easy to talk with just about anyone. You just have to ask people about what they like to talk about and then they'll talk with you for hours. That's all I did with him. I talked with him about his job, which was something he truly loved to do. He would've rambled for years if we hadn't been interrupted by all of these missions and getting injured."

Relaxing once more when Xiao shifted the conversation to something else, Leandra only ended up stiffening once more at the mention of Xiao's mother.

Yet, before Leandra could even try to think of a response, Xiao was hugging her and Leandra stood there stiffly for a few seconds, as she was taken by surprise once more by the sudden physical contact. Clearly, this was something she was going to have to get used to while around Xiao. Not that it was a trigger or anything for her, it just wasn't something Leandra was entirely used to receiving.

When Xiao finished speaking about what her mother did for her, tears were rolling down Leandra's face and she finally remembered to return Xiao's hug.
Better late than never.

Hearing the foreign tune hummed into her ear, Leandra felt confused at first until she realized this wasn't too different than Luness singing to her to help her fall asleep. In fact, Luness was more like a mother to Leandra than any of her foster mothers had ever been.
Humans were such oddly complicated beings.

When Xiao stepped back from Leandra, she quickly wiped away her tears before giving Xiao a faint smile while saying,
"I never had a mother who treated me in such a kind manner. I wouldn't have known what any of that felt like if it weren't for Luness. In many ways, Luness is like a mother to me. Something that I never really got to enjoy since I was stuck in foster homes most of my life with my brother."

Smiling at Xiao's compliment, Leandra immediately countered it, saying, "Right back at you, Xiao."

Watching Beth carefully while she kept a neutral expression, though her mind was most likely racing right now, Manjano could wait with bated breath for her response.

Alas, her response was cut short at the mention of them being wanted in a briefing.

Furrowing his brows at Beth, Manjano was about to open his mouth to say something, but she gave him a look that expressed perhaps some disappointment in them being interrupted like this.

As Beth left without bothering to wait for Manjano, he merely shook his head before grabbing his sandwich, which he still hadn't touched yet.

While he was finally feeling a bit hungry now, Manjano's mind raced with thoughts of figuring out Beth and wanting only to further understand her. Alas, she seemed to be as locked up as Manjano was most of the time, which meant this wasn't going to be easy.

Manjano decided against heading straight for the briefing room, as he realized Falarion was probably still in the gardens.

Entering the gardens a few minutes later, Manjano tucked away his wrapped sandwich in his knapsack, which he always kept on his back or near himself, and then walked out to find Falarion was trailing after Barry, the new guy.

Curious what had those two so close already, Manjano quickly trailed after Falarion and soon caught up to the maned wolf, who grinned up at him and exclaimed, "You missed out on so much fun, Manjano! Zoe and Barry played catch, I took a well-deserved nap, and Barry was so kind as to carry my ball for me!"

Tilting his head to the side in a questioning manner, Manjano then thought to him, Why is Barry carrying your ball for you?

Continuing to grin, Falarion replied, "He's carrying my ball because it got all covered in dirt and grass, neither of which I want to taste in my mouth."

Fair point.

Soon, the pair joined the rest of the group inside of the briefing room.

~~~~~
As the lights dimmed and the briefing started, Leandra quickly found a seat nearby, her attention completely diverted from Xiao in just a few seconds. She did have a tendency to be rather scatterbrained sometimes.
Luness settled just in front of Leandra on the table before the pair intently listened to the briefing, Leandra wisely keeping her mouth shut for the most part.
At the mention of the human trafficking and the way the machine worked, Leandra's expression was of pure horror while Luness seemed to shrink a bit, her head lowered down to look at the surface of the table. So many times Luness had seen horrific acts committed by humans, but now animals were doing it and this was far worse than most of what Luness had seen in the past.
Feeling her heart going out to the humans who were being bought and sold like objects for one's pleasure and nothing more, Leandra's expression quickly became angered, as she said, "Why in the world is there any human trafficking happening in China? Has this been going on even before the Rogues took advantage of it? What the hell is wrong with people?"
Luness quickly sent calming feelings towards Leandra's mind to help her settle down, as spiting the messenger in a sense wasn't going to solve anything.
Feeling Luness' calming effect, Leandra settled down enough so that she wasn't saying anything harshly, though her expression was still an angered one.
As the briefing concluded with the mention of everyone being paired with different animals to help them blend in, Leandra was distracted from her anger at the human trafficking and now had an expression of both surprise and amusement. Who would she be paired with?
While Leandra and Luness loved to be close with one another most of the time, the two were also highly independent in nature and could spend extended periods of time away from one another without a problem. Well, unless something triggered for Leandra and whoever was with her was unable to help her. There was that.
And with that in mind, Leandra's amused expression quickly changed to one of worry.
@SilverFlight @everyone
~~~~~

Manjano silently, as per usual, listened to the entire briefing and even listened in on everyone's mixed feelings towards the mentioning of human trafficking and the explanation of the machine itself.

It was a devious machine for sure, though Manjano couldn't help but wonder who had originally designed it. Had an animal come up with the idea or perhaps a human with something else in mind, but an animal stole it and modified it?

Shifting his thoughts to the human trafficking when Leandra had her outburst about it, Manjano couldn't help but feel equally angered about it. Though, he was silently angry about it.

It was beyond wrong for human trafficking to still be a thing and Manjano had no doubt that it was probably mostly just full of women and children, who were probably females, too. From what little he knew of China, Manjano knew they'd always seen females as subordinates and practically worthless unless they bore a male child. It would be a rough childhood for any female to grow up in.

Meanwhile, Falarion found a random beetle marching about in the corner of the room and thus, he was completely sidetracked and busied himself with carefully poking the beetle with his paw. This was a delicate operation.

After the second poke, the beetle tumbled over onto its back and Falarion grinned in delight, as he was victorious over the beetle.

Are you listening to any of this, mate?

Eyes wide at having been caught messing around, Falarion quickly limped over to Manjano's side before whispering, "I have no idea what you mean by that. I heard everything."

Rolling his eyes at Falarion's lack of discipline in the moment, Manjano shifted his attention back to the briefing in time to hear that they were going to be paired with other animals for this mission to help with disguises.

Feeling his heart skip a beat at this, Manjano quickly realized that the only animals he'd feel remotely comfortable with would be Falarion (duh), Luness, or perhaps even Totus. Perhaps Totus could tell him something more about Beth to help him better understand her. Though, it probably wouldn't be right for him to hear anything about her from Totus instead of her personally.

Falarion personally could care less who he was paired with. To him, just about any other human here would be plenty of fun to be with. Barry could be really fun considering he was an actual mute and not a selective one like Manjano. Not that he'd know that about Manjano yet.

Plus, Barry still had Falarion's ball and Falarion wasn't ready to let it leave his presence. Maybe he should ask for Manjano to take it back. It seemed like now probably wasn't the best time to mention it, though. Things seemed a bit tense at the mention of everyone being separated from their partners on top of the mention of human trafficking and whatever that weird photographed contraption had been.

Rin watched the fight Carry on with growing interest. His attention focused on the fight in front of him that seemed to finally be reaching its conclusion. He clapped slowly before the announcement for the briefing interrupted him. He sighed, then turned to Julia with a smile. "Y-yeah, let's go. I'll show you where the briefing room is." He said to her with a smile. He had no doubts that Haku would find her way there. He picked up a towel and wiped the sweat from his training and the heat of the gym then motioned for Julia to follow him.

@TheBOOKWORMgal

When he arrived to the room he smiled at seeing Haku still perched atop a half awake Duik. He sat nearby and left an open seat for Julia in case she needed a place to sit. "Having fun?" He thought out to Haku. She looked over to him and smiled a sweet smile. Betraying nothing of the mischief she had been up to. "What? You missed me?" She teased as she slid off of Duik. "Good luck Alec, and don't hide from your heart." She whispered to him before making her way to Rin. She crawled up his leg to coil on the table, listening to agent Strong. At the mention of switching partners Haku grew a bit of a worried look. Being a snake, she wasn't very popular among people. Sure, these were her team mates. But they were people, with their own lives minds and feelings. Fear and hatred was something that dug deep into the mind. Not easy to change over the course of a few weeks. Rin sighed, sensing Haku's thoughts. He tries to send her comforting thoughts, to ease her building anxiety. "All will be well. I promise." He whispered to her."

A small formed displayed on Xiao Hui's lips as she took notice of Leandra's reaction when she had held her hand and given her a hug. She couldn't help but sighed silently to herself as she hoped it wasn't what she thought it was. Something must have happened for her to react in such a way, or perhaps she was just like herself, not used to physical contact with another person. Nevertheless, Xiao Hui made a mental note to tell Leandra in advance if she was going to give her a hug or hold her hand, then again, what made her want to do such a thing. . perhaps it was because of Alec. . it was because of him, telling her it was okay and soothed her pain, for just that short while, that she wanted to do the same for Leandra. Confidence was key to staying mentally healthy and being able to use one's abilities to the best of that they can. But, that may just be a practice that was drilled in her head since she was young. However, Xiao Hui chuckled lightly, shaking her head, "We are all bad at trying to change our habits and fix our mistakes, aren't we? It makes us human, perhaps." Soon, Xiao Hui's brows furrowed in confusion, trying to understand what Leandra had meant and had reiterated what she said to her, "It's what every girl says about the guy they have a major crush on?" Next thing she knew, Leandra asked if she ever dated and her face flushed brightly red, as she felt hot all of a sudden. "W-what? Date? No . .I have not been intimate with someone in such a way." She said in a small voice, one she never knew she had before. Nevertheless, to hear Leandra say such inappropriate words, her eyes widened, since she never knew woman were able to say such words, especially in her culture. But, Xiao Hui wasn't offended, instead, she was enlightened that Western culture was definitely different from how she was raised up, even if they were in the 21st century. Shaking her head, Xiao Hui spoke softly, "Cuss words? I see. . it really isn't lady-like to say such words, but sometimes, out of frustration, I can understand why people say it. But, like most things, we'd have to be careful not to take it too far." She said, not offended or judging Lea, instead she shrugged those words off she said and looked towards Luness before turning back to Leandra. However, at her mentioning if Lea had liked Alec and that he seemed more comfortable with her than she ever would, what Lea said did make sense. "Perhaps. . I'm not saying the right things to him like you've said. Or rather bring up topics that we can discuss properly yet. I guess. . that's just something I need to work on. Conversation topics." She said thoughtfully before continuing, not commenting on her reactions, "It's been a while since I've talked to another female. . it feels. . nice." Xiao Hui smiled genuinely towards Lea. Soon, Xiao Hui looked at Lea, alarmed from the tears forming when she spoke of her mother. But, she stayed quiet as Lea wiped her tears away. Hearing that Lea never had a mother made her heart twist and ache in many different ways and directions. She couldn't imagine. . going from one home to the next, but Xiao Hui was relieved to hear that she stil had Manjano and Luness. But, it seemed the two weren't close, even though they were twins. What could have happened? But, seeing that it was too personal of a question, she wouldn't ask, instead responded with something else, "You're not alone anymore because you have us now. We're not only a team, but seeing how much we've all gone through together, it seems we're all sort of like. . . a family." She said softly, smiling before nodding at her.

Soon, the others decided to come in and join the briefing as the lights dimmed down and Agent Strong was in the front, providing the background information on the different cases they were involved in. Xiao Hui looked straightly ahead, forgetting anyone else was next to her but Laohu as she listened and paid attention intently. At hearing the beginning of the briefing, Xiao Hui's fingers clenched against her legs, glad the lights were dimmed and if seemed Leandra was in her own world as well. Laohu, on the other hand, jumped in the chair next to her, leaning against her, as he supported her through the briefing. Usually he would lie down or sleep through boring things such as these, but lately he felt something was off, just as much as his partner had. At the words human trafficking, Xiao Hui froze in her spot as her heart pounded in her ear drums, her breathing became uneven as she knew what she heard earlier was confirmed. Biting her lip, Xiao Hui continued listening, letting anger boil in the pit of her stomach as her expression was hardened and cold. Laohu expressed rage on his face as he remembered what he heard about the animals killing humans and using an advance technology to keep them sapient by taking the bonding potential of the humans and bringing it to the animal. He had been around for a long time to see the foolishness and hazardous, poisonous ways of humans, however, for animals to now turn their back and become the same "monsters" humans call them made him want to suppress the urge to regurgitate. However, at hearing the words dried grain shipping company, realization dawned on both Laohu and Xiao Hui as there could only be a few places where those shipping companies were from. The only question is. . .
is it what Xiao Hui feared? Please don't say China, she thought to herself, as Laohu mumbled quietly as well. But, before Agent Strong revealed where the company was, she continued explaining and giving more examples as to why it's dire to stop these rogues from continuing on the path they are in. Xiao Hui was proud to be a part of such a unique and hardworking team, even more so that they were all clever and clearly skilled in their own ways. It was thanks to Beth that they discovered what they were working against and now it was thanks to Rin that they had more knowledge as to how it works on the animals and how viscious and wild they become. However, she didn't know whether she was glad to know it was because of them that they learned more about the rogues, or worried because now. . she feared for what was to come next.

Soon, it was down to the nitty gritty, they were going investigate the human trafficking rings that were supplying the rogues while at the same time, seeing how many more machines were there are. But, at hearing that they wanted to find more connections to the rogues, Xiao Hui's face paled slightly as Laohu pawed at her, telling her it was okay and to calm down. But, she couldn't hear him, not when the next works that were spoken was a complete and utter nightmare.
"The names," she whispered to herself, only Laohu hearing her," who are the names." Xiao Hui robotically asked to herself mostly as the words "Beijing" echoed in her ears. She sat there, not being able to move or even bat an eye lash. Like a mantra, she whispered, "China. . Beijing. . . trafficking. . New Years." She repeated these words over and over again to herself as she couldn't find the courage to believe such a thing. "Hui, Hui." He whispered harshly, shaking her from her state of mind, "Get a hold of yourself, Hui!" Faintly hearing Laohu's voice along with Leandra and Zoe, Xiao Hui blinked slightly, as she formed a thin smile, though inside her, she was mentally in turmoil, full of fear, confusion, and anger. Looking at Laohu, Xiao Hui stared into his eyes, as he knew that look. Soon, her attention went towards Leandra as she expressed her outrage of people, wondering how long trafficking as been happening. To say the least, Xiao Hui remained quiet, though, with each word she spoke, it felt like a sharp knife, stabbing at her repeatedly. Only for Xiao Hui to look towards Zoe, hearing her words that it was dangerous to meddle there as she wondered how much did Zoe know and what else she knew. Zoe did say she fought many wars and went through many different battles, so perhaps she found out some things during her experiences. Whatever the case was, Laohu brought her out of her thoughts, "Hui, don't be alarmed. They're splitting humans and their animal partners for security reasons. Also, we're going undercover at an underground club in Beijing. You're not an actress for no reason, right?" Blinking, Xiao Hui nodded slowly, "Laohu. . you're the only. . ." "I know," he inhaled sharply, "but the others don't know. No one's seen your face, thanks to your Father, besides those in your home." Nudging against Xiao Hui, Laohu sighed, "Have faith, Xiao Hui. You're more than this. You'll have to change your appearance, not just for this mission, but for their sake." Biting her lip, Xiao Hui formed a small smile, though her heart still continued beating rapidly, as she fanned herself slightly, feeling quite stuffy in the room. "Please, be careful Laohu. I can't and I wont. . " Pawing her, Laohu nodded, "I know, child. I know." Xiao Hui's tone was lace with joy yet underlying sadness as she bowing her head slightly before saying, "恭禧發財" (Happy New Years). Laohu reciprocated the action, bowing his head, saying, "Gong Xi Fa Cai."(Wishing you prosperity to the coming year). Soon, both of them lifted up there heads as she forced a smile on her face, thankful she was used to deceiving others with her smile, as she had done since she was seven years old, knowing no one could think or see pass her smile as true.

Julia had followed Rin to the debriefing room, informing her companion that he was supposed to go too and taking the seat next to him. Aslan hadn't answered, so she guessed he was just heading over. Speaking of answering, she turned to Rin, uttering a short "Thanks, Rin." She felt a weight on her lap and looked down to see her favorite mute Jaguarundi, Aslan. She absentmindedly stroked his head as she listened to her orders. "Rouges" She heard. She heard how they had machines to simulate a bond ... 'How in the world does that even work? ' "Swapping animal Partners ..." That's great. Wait, what? Aslan couldn't speak to anyone but her, as he couldn't do sign language and unless someone would have a random piece of paper lying around somewhere with a pencil.. Which was highly unlikely. 'let it go, I'll be fine if they put me with someone else.' She heard Aslan sigh. But she couldn't let it go. He didn't even have a way to communicate at all ... But then, if he was fine with it, she was too. But then she heard "human trafficking." She absolutely hated that system. With a passion. A very strong passion. She could feel Aslan's fur bristle a bit too. What kind of sick imbeciles would sell other people like mere toys?! This was the slavery of the new era, one of the many evils people tended to simply put a veil on. This needed to be stopped, not hidden. And that was one of the pro's of being on The Watch. If she could help even a little bit, it would be enough... Though, enough wasn't a stopping point for Julia. And it wasn't for The Watch, either, from what she'd seen so far. Rogues and human trafficking? Oh, she'd handle this mission alright.

Aslan trotted into the debriefing room, following the other animals, when he spotted Julia walking with a young man. He brushed against his legs curiously- he smelled like snake, in a literal way. Maybe he was Haku's companion? - before turning to walk with Julia. She didn't seem to take notice, but he didn't care. When she took a seat, he leapt up onto her lap, angling his ears over to the woman talking. When she said Rouges, he could feel the anger coming off Julia. In fact, she reacted negatively to everything besides the fact they were traveling somewhere. Jules always loved traveling anywhere in general. She liked looking into other cultures and religions. In fact, if she wasn't in The Watch he could bet she'd be a Theologist.

Alec tried his best to absorb all the information, but the frozen feeling in the pit of his stomach on the realization that Haku had heard the whole thing about Xiao mad it hard to focus.

You couldn’t have mentioned Haku was there?!” He hissed at the hyena, who shot him a disbelieving look. “She wasn’t exactly hard to miss bro.”

Alec face-palmed quietly. It was bad enough Leandra, Eos and Simon had all made their own subtle (and in Leandra’s case, not-so-subtle) jabs at the matter.

@TheBOOKWORMgal

Alec made a skeptical face. So they weren’t to be separated farther than a few hundred meters, still, the idea of not being able to watch over the hyena made Alec more than a little uncomfortable. He chanced a look at Xiao to see how she was taking this, only to find her looking rather distressed. In a flash it was gone however and a smile had replaced whatever darker feelings he thought he had seen.

Walking over to Rin he nodded respectfully at him. “I’ll take good care of Haku,” he promised. “You don’t have to worry.” Alec knew Rin understood how he felt, through all the differences on the team every person there had their companion bonds in common.

He looked back at Xiao carefully as he spoke, still not entirely convinced that being separated from Laohu was the only thing she was worried about.

Duik looked for the silent team member, padding over to him a little uneasily with a smile and a tail flap. Duik could tell this wasn't going to be an easy mission for anyone.

"I'm more worried about Alec." He said causally, trying to sound braver than he felt.

Upon arriving at the mission briefing room, Ash couldn't help but let out a small groan when he saw how Fie was jumping in his seat at such a rapid pace one would think he was trying to workout. ".....Fie did you have sugar?" He asked as he approached the monkey who beamed up at him. "Sugar? Me? Never ever! I wouldn't have sugar cause you tell me not to so I wouldn't because sugar is bad for you, can make your teeth yellow and fall out and all of that yucky stuff so I didn't have it because that would be bad! I need me te-" Before the monkey could finish Ash placed a hand over his mouth before picking him up and sitting him on his lap. "I'm taking that as a yes."

Even though Ash was holding him down Fie still couldn't help but move as much as he could even when he was restrained. Honestly Ash was just surprised that Fie wasn't literally bouncing off the walls. 'Guess he didn't have too much sugar..' He did what he could to ignore the giddy Fie as he listened to the mission briefing. Upon hearing the fact he would have to split with Fie, a frown graced his lips. He didn't comment on it though as he knew these were his orders and he didn't have a choice. But the idea of leaving Fie with another, or really not being with him... It didn't sit well with him, though they wouldn't be too far away so it shouldn't be too bad. Fie on the other hand seemed to be far to hyper to even hear what was going on.

When the pairings were given Ash felt himself relax quite a bit. Simon was the unfortunate soul that would have to deal with the monkey for this mission, and he was glad it was that man. After the sparring match he was pretty certain that he would watch out for Fie, and he didn't really mind Fie's pranks so it shouldn't be too terrible for the guy. .

Ash looked over at Amber and nodded. "Go ahead and dye his fur, he won't practically like it, but as long as it's for this mission he can suck it up." Ash said while the monkey kept bouncing happily in his arms. When they were dismissed Ash sighed and got up. "You had to have sugar didn't you?" Fie looked up at Ash with his round glimmering eyes as a grin went on his face (one Ash could easily feel with his hand still over his mouth). "Yerp!" The monkey managed to get out. He gave Simon a slight apologetic look before turning to leave so he could go pack. 'Luness, that's the phoenix if I remember correctly. Well don't I get an interesting partner.'

Simon and Jimbo watched as the others reacted to Calista's briefing. Several of them seemed disturbed by the human trafficking subject, Leandra's remark made Simon a bit upset that something like this still happened in places in the world. Jimbo was of a similar thought though he sat back and continued to watch as Calista continued on.

When the slide appeared with the new teams, Jimbo raised an eyebrow when he saw he would be partnered with Manjano. Jimbo had not been expecting that parring. He didn't mind it, from what Jimbo had seen he was competent, strong, and would be a reliable partner. Albeit he had seen the young man become emotional at least once before, but nothing too out of the ordinary.

When Jimbo saw who was going to be with Simon, he smiled to himself as a spun around in the chair and first looked at Fie, the little monkey bouncing up and down like he was on a trampoline, and then to Simon.

"This has the makings of a disaster written all over it."

Simon looked over at Ash and Fie, catching Ash's sympathetic glance and responding with a big smile and a thumbs up. He had found a great respect for the man and his partner, and he was rather excited about working with Fie.

As Calista released them, Jimbo scooped up the two files for Manjano, Fie and his own, handing Fie's to Simon.

"Try not to get into too much trouble huh Muscle Head?"

Simon smiled at Jimbo and took the file from him, clapping the gorilla on the shoulder before headed for the door . Jimbo however, lumbered over towards Manjano and Falarion, nodding to them both before handing his file over to Manjano.

"Everything you would need to know is right here. But if you ask me, its a lot easier to get to know a teammate by asking. I'm an open book, anything you wanna know, just ask away."

@Lioness075 @Peaceswore

Simon flipped through the file as he walked down the halls. He looked up occasionally to make sure he was heading in the right direction until he reached the place designated "Feild Prep". Simon walked in and saw a great number of racks lining the walls of an area that appeared to have more clothing than a department store. As Simon walked up tot he racks, he caught sight of someone approaching him rather quickly. A skinny man who was walking with a very unusual peppiness to his steps dressed in a very fashionable attire.

"Sweet lord in heaven, look at the muscles on you big boy. I gotta say, they told us they had a big man in the group. But they failed to mention what kind of.......big."

The man was all smiles and hand movement as he walked around Simon examining him. The man seemed very eager to do whatever it is he wanted to do, and when he came back around to Simon he walked away making a motion with his finger for Simon to follow. Simon, his brow in a bit of a questionable manner followed after the man as he headed for a rack. As he did, something caught Simon's eye and he stopped and parted a rack to find an outfit. Something that looked straight out of a roman coliseum, deep crimson with a bushy lined cape of the same color attached. He looked over the outfit for a few moments imagining himself strolling around in it when a pop on the hand made him drop the outfit to reveal the skinny man behind it with a bit of an attitude stretched across his face.

"Nu uh sweetheart, what does this look like to you, Halloween. Here put this on."

The man thrust a folded outfit into Simon's arms as he picked up the armor and cape and stuck them back on the rack. Simon looked down at the clothing to see a golden dragon stretched across part of it which made Simon question the attire but instead he was once again told to follow with the wag of a finger. The man led Simon over to a row of booths that had curtains attached for privacy. He opened the curtain and began to shove at Simons back to get in and begin changing.

In the somewhat small space fo the changing booth Simon changed into the attire and as he did he began to realise something, this was going to be a very uncomfortable mission. As he stepped out of the booth he found the man standing outside with his hip cocked to the side and his thumbnail at the edge of his lips as he looked over Simon. The red outfit seemed to be somewhat traditional, the only exception being the gold dragon perched on his shoulder that wrapped around to his back.

Simon was unamused as the man walked up and began tugging at the attire.

"Not bad, now we just gotta get rid of the beard and I think you'll be ready to go."

Simon's eyes went wide and when the man reached for a small table with a pair of trimmers and scissors on it, Simon grabbed his hand by the wrist and stared him right in the eyes.

"I don't think so buddy. Nobody touches the beard."

The man's eyes went wide as Simon stared him down. When Simon released his wrist, the man flung his arms into the air and made a very unusually exasperated noise as he stormed away back towards the racks of clothing. Simon couldn't help but smile and began pulling at the attire trying to get a bit more comfortable.

BB sighed in relief that they wouldn't be too far from each other while on the mission. Sure both Barry and BB had experience being away from one another for a long time, but it was terrible for both of them. Barry! you get the cool one! D-man! The one I said I liked! Barry nodded, he remembered they were the first to introduce themselves. Alec and Duik seemed nice enough from the small interaction. Though, the outburst from Alec might be troublesome later on. Some bonds just have a hard time separating. When Duik came over, Barry gave a friendly smile. Giving the sign 'Same' to him. I'm sure everything will be fine! Alec seems like a good guy. You can also count on Barry! He has nothing to worry about. She said while flapping her wings a little slower. Barry took the bottle out and let her indulge in the sugary goodness. Ahhh, now that's the stuff.

[hmm, I guess I left my notepad in my room. A small detour before helping out wont be bad.] Turning Duik, he mimed writing. Pointing over his shoulder in the opposite direction of where they need to go. Oh right! you gonna need that silly. Barry waved for Duik to come along. It would be nice to get all the time to get to know him. He started to walk out of the room. BB swung down to be in front of Duik. Watch out for him okay? He.. can't really call out when in trouble. I trust your abilities though. Now... Leaving Duik's area BB took in a deep breath. WHICH ONE OF YOU IS XIAO?

@SilverFlight @crucialstar

Leandra didn't see any reason to take offense to what Alec said about Duik not leaving his side.

"Dude, he's your companion. How can any of us take offense to you not wanting him to leave your side?"

Luness nodded at Leandra's response, fully agreeing with it.

@SilverFlight

At the mention of still being within communicating distance, Leandra and Luness both exchanged a warm smile at this while Manjano continued to look moody as ever at the idea of purposely being separated from Falarion. Falarion, on the other hand, was busy watching some dustball fly by him slowly.

At the mention of having to sell it like their partners were their real ones, Leandra quickly began to feel uneasy. Based on the mixed personalities here, depending on who she was paired with could make it extremely difficult for her to fake it if they were in conflict most of the time.

Manjano remained as stoic and slightly annoyed as ever at the mention of having to make it look like whoever he was partnered with was his actual partner. That would entirely depend on what kind of personality he was going to have to deal with, but there were a select few he may be able to get along with if he were paired with them. Though, he still strongly disliked having to be with someone else. Especially since communications would be difficult. He only really felt comfortable talking around Falarion, Beth and Totus. If he were paired with someone else, things could strained very quickly.

As Amber listed off the names, Falarion's head shot up at his name being mentioned and grinned when he heard he was paired with Beth.

Standing up and wagging his tail at a million miles per minute. Practically bouncing in place, Falarion looked over at Beth in excitement, hoping she'd be, at least, somewhat excited as well.

Relieved to hear Falarion being paired with Beth since that meant he'd be safe and taken care of, Manjano then returned his attention to the listing to hear who he'd get as his own partner.

Leandra heard her name and her eyes widened with excitement as she glanced over at Laohu with a grin and gave him a thumbs up. This was going to be easy.

As it were, Leandra and Luness could easily handle being away from each other for this mission so Leandra was just relieved to be with someone she knew decently and felt comfortable around.

At the sound of his name being read off, Manjano paused to hear Jimbo's name listed off as his partner.

Looking mildly surprised, Manjano then glanced over at the gorilla before letting out a small sigh. While he didn't know Jimbo all too well, he seemed like he'd be an easy partner to get along with, especially for just this one mission. Jimbo didn't talk too much or come across as annoying either, so that'd definitely make things easier for Manjano.

At the mention of her name, Luness raised her head up a bit and then looked around the room until she spotted Ash. This was going to be an interesting mission indeed. From what she'd heard from him or seen him do so far, Ash seemed a bit more outgoing that Leandra was and he seemed to have quite the eye for any females he deemed beautiful. That could get in the way of their mission.

At the mention of having his fur stained a more natural color, Falarion let out a groan before saying in a tone similar to an upset child, "Fiiiiine. Just don't do anything permanent to me."

Manjano gave Falarion a rather amused look at this, as he was interested to see what color they ended up choosing. Most maned wolves from the sanctuary had had a pelt of mixed colors including some black, mostly orange, and even some white in the mix. Their paws normally had black 'socks' and Falarion's pelt was white everywhere, which only served to make him stand out like a sore thumb in a crowd.

Luness was mostly confused when her name was mentioned, as she immediately countered Amber's question with another, "If us phoenixes are mythical creatures, how would one know that my white feathers are anything abnormal for my species? In fact, I don't even believe my feather color is abnormal since my eyes are blue without any change to them. If I were an albino, wouldn't I have red eyes, dear?"

At the mention of makeup, Leandra immediately made a face and said with her arms crossed over her chest, "No makeup for me."

~~~~~
As everyone began dispersing to meet their new teammates, Manjano stayed put and turned at Jimbo's voice to see him offering a file to Manjano.
At the mention of asking questions instead of reading the file, Manjano merely raised an eyebrow at Jimbo. Didn't the gorilla know he didn't like talking to just anyone, especially someone he barely knew?
Knowing he needed to get along with the gorilla for now though, Manjano dropped his eyebrow so he didn't look so critical and rude before he merely shrugged at the gorilla and then pointed at the door, making note of how several others had already made their way to the field prep and disguise area.
Exiting and expecting Jimbo to tag along or catch up in a bit, Manjano soon entered the area and wearily glanced around as a few of the others already seemed to be getting set up.
Soon, a calm young man walked up to Manjano and after looking him up and down for a moment simply nodded at Manjano and then waved for him to follow.
Trailing after the man and raising his eyebrow at the multitude of disguises in here, Manjano soon halted as the man rummaged around in a closet before appearing with what appeared to be a red suit & tie hung up.
Surprised by the formality, Manjano furrowed his brows and titled his head to the side, as the man sighed and then asked, "More modern, I suppose?"
Nodding at this, Manjano then continued to wait, as the man walked back into the closet before returning with a set of clothes that were definitely more Manjano's style.
With a nod of approval, Manjano took the clothing from the man and went straight to a changing room.
A few minutes later and Manjano exited to find the man smiling at him with his own approval.
"It looks perfect on you. Now, we are going to need to dye your hair. It's just too obvious and will make you stand out like a sore thumb."
<p><a href="<fileStore.core_Attachment>/monthly_2016_03/zara-young-men-red-jacket-300x400.jpg.4426d4f2ed241d2c31a7ad4e30870a40.jpg" class="ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image"><img data-fileid="113936" src="<fileStore.core_Attachment>/monthly_2016_03/zara-young-men-red-jacket-300x400.jpg.4426d4f2ed241d2c31a7ad4e30870a40.jpg" class="ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed" alt=""></a></p>
Add some black converse and black socks to the mix and the outfit is complete for Manjano.
:P
Scowling at this and crossing his arms over his chest, Manjano hoped he'd convince the man otherwise, but he seemed completely undeterred and simply walked away before saying over his shoulder, "Come on, this isn't a suggestion."
Continuing to scowl, Manjano dropped his arms to his sides before following the man to the hair area.
Once they got there, the man snatched up some hair dye book before flipping around until he found a page just for natural hair colors. Pointing at them, the man then said, "I'll let you choose which you prefer, but you're going to have to stick with natural colors."
Finding all of this to be irritating, Manjano took the book and quickly scanned the page before deciding on a brown-red color mix. Pointing it out to the man, Manjano then set the book aside, as the man directed him to a seat so he could begin the dyeing process.
About half an hour or so later, Manjano exited the hair area and stood about in the disguise area with his hair brown-red instead of its usual pearly white. Feeling a bit uncomfortable with the change of hair color, Manjano rubbed at it even though the color wasn't going to magically rub away.
@zCrookedz @Anyoneelseinthedisguisearea
Leandra walked up to Laohu after everyone began moving about and smiled down at him before saying, "Well, I look forward to working with you, Laohu."
Glancing sideways at Xiao, Leandra then added, "I'll take good care of him, Xiao. No worries."
Pausing as she thought about the disguises, Leandra then smiled before saying, "Y'know, Xiao, I think you'd be better at advising me on what I should wear than anyone working down there. So, want to come with me and help me get dressed for this mission?"
@crucialstar
Meanwhile, Luness continued to patiently wait for Amber's response, noting out of the corner of her eye that Ash had already departed to get ready for the upcoming mission.
While waiting, Luness hopped across the table to find Ash's file and flipped it open to begin reading while she waited. Best to not waste any preparation time.
Eos was delighted to hear that his new partner was none other than Rin. He always admired the masterful swordsman and he was certainly happy to be his closest ally for this assignment. He gracefully walked up to Rin, bowing his head when he finally was next to him.
" It is my honor to be at your service, Master Takeda. " he spoke with a booming voice " I believe that our team will work as one, our voice will sing in unison - and that we shall focus on the task like none other can. "
He paused for a moment.
" Of course we shall have fun as well... I guess... like everyone else, naturally. "
He looked at him for a long minute before he sat down next to him. He was uncertain how well did he fare without Haku on his side even if this was but a brief isolation. He remembered the first time they were separated with Zoe but now that he had been through that he felt barely anything - a slight anxiety possibly but nothing major.
" Don't you worry, I will be here for you and aid you in everything. " he said with a smile " Though I may not be Haku I will do my best to give comfort and companionship to you. Be at ease for Haku has a capable partner as well, you shall get used to it. The first time we were separated it felt... odd, bad even. But after a while you will become used to it, you will become stronger in body and spirit. This trial will test both of you - and if you endure you will emerge much stronger. "
He smiled.
" I have faith in you. Make Haku proud. "
@andujarprime
Zoe listened carefully as further instructions were given to the team. They were paired up with a rather unusual companion and she got together with Cedar, which made her smile a bit. She had seen the bear around and talked with Bael for quite a while but she just realized that she had neglected to talk to his furry friend almost entirely. She had to come to the conclusion that she indeed knew very little about Cedar - but that made this switcheroo just the better.
She looked at Bael next to her and grinned.
" Well it appears that your friend is mine now! " he told the boy " I think that our team will be unbearably efficient in tracking down the information, am I right, Cedar? "
As she observed the wild bear she did not know what to do with him exactly, how to approach him. He seemed to be as reserved as his friend so that might complicate things in the future. For guidance she looked around to search for Eos but she noticed that the elder stag was already talking with Rin so she just sighed, shook her head and looked at Cedar once more.
" All right, let us meet once our disguises are finished, all right? " she said, her face turning serious " Prepare yourself, this will be a tough ride. "
And with that she stood up and took her leave.
After taking a refreshing walk in the garden for one last time Zoe decided to head to the designated room where a woman with a thick glass awaited her with a wide smile on her expression. Zoe did not like this at all, the woman was somehow... too eager and too joyful for this but she had to go and prepare regardless of her initial fear. As she approached her the woman clasped her hands and spoke up.
" Oh, my dear! Your friend was right, you WILL look amazing in that! Your blonde hair is perfect, just perfect. "
" Friend? What friend? What are you talking about? "
" Your companion of course! " the woman smiled " The stag told me what the perfect disguise is for your! "
After hurrying away for a moment she returned with something that made Zoe's jaw drop.
" No. " she stated plainly.
" It is perfect! " the woman objected.
" No. " Zoe replied " It is something like maids would wear in a restaurant or something! Or young little girls! Why would I wear something like this? "
" To be the envy of everyone of course! " the woman said, giving the disguise to Zoe " You look so cute, so innocent with your long blonde hair and your azure blue eyes, my dear! Now go, change clothes. "
" But... "
" NO buts! You will use it as Agent Darcy commanded. Now go already! "
With groaning and with a wrathful gaze Zoe vanished in the dressing room. After a minute or two she emerged, now in her new clothes and her eyes seethed in anger.
" Eos... I will have your head for this once we are done... "
Duik tilted his head when Barry began signing something. "What's that Barry? You wanna compose a song about me? Aww shucks, I do inspire that in people, I know." He grinned cheekily before turning back to BB and reassuring her. "Don't you worry butterfly-bird, I'll take excellent care of your human. So don't even worry about it!"
Alec meanwhile turned to watch Duik for a moment, who noticed not long after. "Hey! Alec! What's with the puppy eyes?"
Alec started. "Puppy what? No, I was just..." He let his shoulders sag. "Last time we split up...it went badly." He went over to kneel in front of Duik, running a hand through the hyena's reddish mane. His fingers brushed the bullet scar carefully before he met Duik's eyes. Duik was smiling at him.
"You don't have to worry Al, I'll be ok. I'm in good hands! Look! Barry's cool, he's been through the training. We'll be fine...besides, you don't need my chatter when you've got your feelings to sort out."
"My wha?" The hyena shot him a knowing look. Alec returned it with a humorless frown, understanding that Duik meant Xiao. "There's nothing to sort out."
"Uhuh, yeah, ok." Duik turned to follow Barry, flicking his short tail impatiently. "When you decide to come out of denial, you just call me kay?"
Duik padded down the corridor, looking back only once. "See you in the field bro!"
And with that he was gone, leaving Alec to make his own way down to the field prep department.
Duik caught up with Barry and fell into step beside him, his nails clicking rhythmically on the hard floors. "So, you're a disguise artist right? Did you do anything for theater? Me? I love theater. I love music too. I'm actually a DJ..sort of, I'm trying to be one. Being a Watch agent makes it harder though. Do you like music? What am I saying? Eveyrone likes music, so what music do you like?..."
The corridor echoed with Duik's thousand questions all the way back to the dorm.
Amber noted Luness' question.
"Actually, we do have a record of general phoenix plumage shades. Most of them range from gold to red. I can promise you the stains we use look authentic and can be taken out with a simple rinse using out deconstructing formula with no damage to the feathers. Normally I wouldn't press this, but we can't afford to take any chances with this. If the targets catch wind of us they'll disappear down their holes and we'll never get another shot."
@Lioness075
Once the pairs were rearranged Amber closed up the briefing room and made her way down to the field prep department.
Calista stayed at her feet as she walked casually into the costume hall and ran her fingers through a rack of clothes. This used to be one of her favorite parts in the missions she did when she was younger, but the effect wore off after the thirty-third time she had to get rid of the skin toner or hair dye.
It didn't take her long to catch the unmistakable voice of the lead costumer. It sounded like he was dealing with Simon.
"Hey Claude." She greeted casually. Movement behind the curtain told her Simon was trying on whatever Claude had pulled out for him. When he did step out Amber's eyes widened a little.
"Wow, Simon." The outfit was spectacular, and so completely different from what she was used to seeing him wear. It spoke loudly of both style and command.
She laughed as Simon adamantly defended his facial hair. "He's pretty protective of the beard." She explained to Claude sympathetically.
Stepping closer to Simon she walked around him carefully, looking the outfit up and down and finally meeting his eyes. "You look good...Red's definitely your colour."
Luness nodded at Amber's response and paused uncertainly, as if there were something else she wanted to ask.
The moment quickly passed, though Luness' expression definitely said she had something on her mind.
Did The Watch know if there others of her kind out there? Was she truly the last of her kind?
Keeping her questions to herself in fear of what the answer may truly be, Luness then silently flew out of the room, quickly making her way to the disguise area while she left Leandra to mingle with Xiao and Laohu.
Flying by Manjano, Luness did a double take and then let out a surprised squawk when she had to backpedal mid-flight to avoid flying right into one of the workers. Manjano's appearance had surprised her mostly because of his hair. The clothes seemed to be close to the norm for him, though he usually didn't like wearing anything that was red. He'd never fully explained that to Leandra or Luness, but Luness knew better than to ask. It seemed a touchy subject for the guy.
Apologizing to the ruffled worker, Luness then flew into the hair area and went straight to the dying station.
Landing on a table, Luness then proclaimed, "I need my feathers dyed to something more common for phoenixes. I was told red was a normal color and that seems to be something that would be welcome at this kind of festival so I'd prefer some kind of red. Just don't make me look ridiculous."
A young woman walked up to Luness with a smile and said with a laugh, "Don't worry, phoenix. We won't make you look ridiculous."
Some time later, Luness opened her eyes to gasp at her own image in the mirror before her.
Slowly walking up to the mirror, Luness tilted her head this way and that, her eyes wide and amazed at her new appearance. She looked like she was on fire and she hadn't even sparked yet.
The young woman was also admiring Luness' new look until she suddenly gasped, causing Luness' head to whip around quickly.
"What is it, dear?"
"Your eyes! I almost forgot! You look completely out of place with blue eyes and red feathers. You'll need color contacts to change them to an orange glow, something more natural for a red phoenix."
Tilting her head at this, Luness merely responded, "If you say so."
Ten minutes later and Luness was blinking at herself in the mirror yet again, as her eyes now looked like something otherworldly. In fact, she didn't quite look like herself at all. Now that Luness thought about it, she really didn't feel all too comfortable with this new appearance. She just looked so...intimidating. She didn't like to come across this way to others by appearance alone.
After Xiao Hui and Laohu's small moment, Xiao Hui looked up hearing Alec's outburst before Leandra reassured him no one would take into any offense, knowing the others wouldn't feel too comfortable about separating from their bonding partners. Seeing Alec's apologetic smile, Xiao Hui made a small nod in Alec and Lea's direction, agreeing with both of them. Looking up at Xiao Hui worriedly, Laohu swished his tail back and forth, not willing to leave her side, but at the same time, knew it was for their own benefits to do so. Squeezing Laohu's paws, she spoke softly, "I'm not. . comfortable parting from you, especially since that accident, but. . it seems most of us aren't either." Laohu chuffed softly in response to her worries, as Agent Strong began explaining that they would be in the same building with communicators on still in a safe distance where they could all see their companions. With a sigh of relief, Xiao Hui felt reassured about that, but she also relied on their bonding, knowing it's gotten stronger since last time, since they both will feel each other's pain and emotions. As long as she's still able to mind-link with Laohu and have a communicator as back-up, she felt reassured as much as Laohu did. But, knowing their next destination is in China made shivers go down her spine. Speaking up, Laohu wondered, "Looks like we'll be hearing who will be our companion for the mission. I wonder who'll be paired with us." He said with curiosity as Agent Strong began reading off the list. However, at hearing Leandra's name, he was surprised yet amused that he would be partnered with her. Chuckling he shook his mane, "Seems fate has mercy on me to be paired with Lea." He teased with a relaxed tone, knowing they'll definitely get along well. Although, he knew he'll get along well with whoever he's partnered with, but knowing he has a chance to improve and watch over Leandra as she grew was an honorable opportunity. Plus, he wouldn't clash with her and they'd get along well. Seeing Lea grin at him and giving him a thumbs up, he gave her a loopy grin as he playfully stuck his tongue out.
Next, Xiao Hui took mental notes of who was paired with who so she wouldn't make a mistake later on when they were on their mission. To say she was shocked was an understatement when her name was called and she was paired with an animal named "BB". Blinking in confusion, Xiao Hui looked over at Laohu, tilting her head,
"Who's BB?" She asked, tapping her chin as she looked around the room, wondering if she missed anyone. But, soon, a few more name were called that she had yet to recognize but hearing that someone named Julia and Aslan would be together because they were still new recruits, Xiao Hui nodded at that information before saying, "Oh, perhaps BB and Barry were paired together just like Julia and Aslan, though they were here for the three weeks period?" Chortling a laugh, Laohu shook his mane, "Hui, you've met them before. You just don't remember, which is a huge suprise to me. Perhaps that wound. . . did something to your memories, or you were just hell-bent on staying calm when your back was dripping blood. You met them before you went off to cover your wounds with Alec." Xiao Hui stared at Laohu in slight horror, realizing she had met them before, as she ran through her memories over the past three weeks. She'd been so into her training and with Lea, most of the time, she hadn't really seen Barry or BB around too often as much as the other. Hitting her face gently, Xiao Hui shook her head, "This is punishable. . " Laohu gently nudged her, "Oh, Hui, everyone makes mistake. Don't blame yourself for forgetting, it's alright. child." Hearing Laphu trying to soothe her for forgetting one of her teammates, Xiao Hui pouted slightly. "Not helping your case, young lady." Laohu teased her glad to see Xiao Hui finding some sort of amusement and humor through this briefing.
Soon, the briefing was over, as Agent Strong had said all of their outfits and make-up, including hair or fur dyeing will be in the field department
. 3 hours 'til departure, Xiao Hui mused, as she looked around at her comrades as all of them went to go and get their files and handing it off to their 'new' partners. Xiao Hui and Laohu looked over towards the others as they got situated with each other. But, of course, her eyes glanced slightly at Alec, a little worried at how he was taking in everything. She just hoped he would be okay just as much as Duirk would be. However, Xiao Hui jumped slightly when she heard a loud, high voice permeating the room as the high-pitch voice asked, "Which one of you is Xiao?" Turning her attention towards the voice, Xiao Hui blinked, seeing the humming bird as she couldn't help but giggle slightly. Raising a hand up so she'd see her, Xiao Hui called out, "I'm Xiao Hui, BB. It's nice to officially meet you." Waiting for BB to come over to her, Xiao Hui made it her mission to get to know her, especially since she didn't know a thing about her. Biting her lip, Xiao Hui moved her hair to the side as she waved BB over, "You can stay on my shoulders. . I think I'll have to get used to saying that and having bird flying around me." She giggled slightly before turning towards Leandra. Seeing Leandra walking towards him, Laohu grinned, "Likewise, little one." He said as he swished his tails back and forth, "If you need to know anything about me, just ask me, Lea." As Lea said that she'll take good care of Laohu, she shook her head, "More like. . Laohu should be taking care of you as well. You two are partners and have to watch each others backs, knowing each others weak and strong points." Xiao Hui said, giving them some pointers before smiling, "Plus, I trust you'll put Laohu in his place." She said, before mindlinking with Laohu, "Please. . Laohu, watch out for her, be on your paws and alert as possible. I won't be able to live with myself if. . ." "Hui, I know, don't be a worry wart. It'll kill me if something happened to her too. She's innocent." Laohu said genuinely concerned. Biting her lip before Xiao Hui smiled at Leandra, she nodded in agreement, "Of course! Hmm . . . I have just the outfit for you, if you'd like it!" She said enthusiastically as she got up from her seat before looking at BB. "Would you like to come with us, BB? We're just going to get ready in my room first and then head down to the department." Xiao Hui asked before heading towards in the direction of her room.
Once she made it to her room, Xiao Hui made sure to close the door behind her once everyone came in.
"Please, have a seat, Lea." She said quite excited since Lea had asked for her help and advice on what to wear for the New Years. If she had to be honest, she always looked forward to celebrating New Years since it was the only time she was allowed outside her manor. She couldn't believe she had forgotten new years had approached, but maybe it was just with everything going on, it was bound to happen. Gracefully but with much bounce to her steps, Xiao Hui fluttered around her room, searching through her drawers and luggage to find the perfect match for Lea. "In our culture, New Years is always a joyous celebration. It's a time to greet the new year and think back on the past year of our accomplishments. Plus, it's a time to wish everyone a prosperous new year and great health next year." She said enthusiastically as she rummaged through her clothes, carefully placing each fabric on her bed neatly before going onto the next area: the walk-in close. "My favorite are the lanterns on the bridges that they hang in temples and throughout the city. There's great lion dances and the fireworks. Oh the fireworks!" Xiao Hui said as she expressed awe and adoration only for Laohu to chuckle as he spoke to them, "As you can tell, Hui loves fireworks. But, also, the main color of this celebration is red. It's a symbol for good luck. So you'll see red everywhere. Perhaps. . if you're luck enough, you'll be graced by a presence from a dragon." Laohu said mysteriously and proudly as Xiao Hui exclaimed, "Found it!" Walking out with a red dress in her hand, Xiao Hui grinned happily, "I think this will definitely fit you the most, Lea. Sadly. . . I never had the chance to wear it yet and it's been sitting in my closet for the longest. So, why not let you wear this little beauty? In plus. .as much as I'd love to wear and show it off, I'm afraid. . I wouldn't be able to." She said as she allowed the dress to drap down the hanger, as the dress was exposed to Lea. "I hope you'll like and wear this, Lea." Xiao Hui said sincerely, before adding, "Of course. no pressure." Laohu, on the other hand, stared in awe of the dress as his eyes shined slightly, wishing Xiao Hui would have the courage to wear such beautiful attires, no matter how short it was.
As the others voiced their concerns, Beth and Totus simply stared at each other. A flurry of emotions flew between them in silent communication. They blinked in time with each other, as Amber began reading off the partners. Beth with Falarion, and Totus with Bael. Beth smiled brightly over at the maned wolf who looked extremely excited. At the end of the briefing, she and Totus sat for a long moment.
Beth rubbed underneath Totus's chin, and he captured her finger in his beak cheekily.
"Okay?" Beth said quietly.
Totus released her finger and gave a firm nod. "Okay."
Beth headed over to her room, packed her bag and slung it over her shoulders. She knew she needed to go down and get disguised, but the idea made her queasy. Would they want to dye her hair? She absently ran a hand through it as she walked. She hadnt had it dyed in a couple years. What would they want her to wear? She frowned, becoming more and more worried as she made her way down the hall.
Totus left Beth's shoulder as she left the room, looking for Bael. He flew over and perched nearby, taking in his new partner fully. They hadnt had a chance to talk yet, but Totus knew he seemed to get along well with Zoe.
@Sleipnir
Beth was shocked at how many outfits and makeup supplies were in the Watch headquarters. Sure, she had assumed there was some need, but this.. this was way more than she ever thought possible. She stood with a vague grimace until someone approached her. The person who did was a bubbly brunette with a terrier bounding behind her.
"Oh my, please, Agent Heartland, come with me!" Beth couldnt find a reason to argue, so she allowed herself to be pulled along behind to a chair. From there, she was shown a flurry of dresses, hairstyles, and makeup looks. She nodded vaguely, and eventually her volunteered stylist gave up asking and just started working. Dress, shoes, hair dye, makeup, and a lot of hairspray. Eventually, Beth was told to walk out and see what everyone thought.
Slowly, she stepped out, moving relatively easily in a pair of red heels, to reveal her look. She honestly hoped no one noticed her.
Beth's hair was dyed to a shade of brown and pulled back into a complicated style she will never even try to replicate. She's wearing a red and white dress with red heels, and a dramatic rose gold eye look with bright red lipstick to match her dress.
Barry walked down the hall and smiled when he heard the clacking of nails on the floor next to him. Duik was a very interesting character. Giving off a chill vibe while also being pretty active. Listening to his questions, he couldn't help but laugh silently. He did not expect so many questions. [It'll be like BB is right next to me it appears.] He was sure BB would get along with her partner somehow. If anything, she should be safe. Nodding to the few questions he was able to agree with, he had to continue walking to his room. After getting to his small room, he opened the door to a clean, well kept area. A few freshly potted plants were just budding. He walked in and invited Duik as well. Shuffling in his desk area, he took out various scarfs of color and pattern. With glee, he brought up his notebook and pen. Writing down in neat penmanship. Nice to meet you Duik. You're a talkative one aren't you? Reminds me of a little bird. Ha! To answer a few questions, yes I was in theater for a very long time. The things you pick up along the way go for miles. Although I have never been to any event with a real DJ, i hear they are very creative. So, that is a very interesting thing to be good at. As for music, mostly classical but i'm open to just about anything. I learned to appreciate creativity over the years.
Giving Duik ample time to read, Barry collected a few of his own makeup and articles of clothing. In particular, a red with yellow striped scarf to switch from his bland grey one. Come on, let us hit up this disguise area. I wanna see what these guys can do. He wrote while playfully leaving the area. He headed down to the department where he saw many of the others getting things sorted out. [Just like old times. ] He thought with a pleasant sigh. Hello! would you look at yourself! How gorgeous. Now how about a seat and we will get started. Barry blinked at the comment with concern. [theater talk... one thing I don't miss.] He quickly wrote down to show the Watch employee. Names Barry. Thanks but I don't plan on doing anything but over looking everyone's work. So far so good. Maybe a little more time for some dye jobs. A little too faded in my opinion. Make up is on point however. Giving a pleasant smile to the employee. Oh, of course! So sorry. I'll leave you to your lovely devices! They said while rushing to tell the others about dyeing. Writing to Duik. I'll never understand flirting.. Oh well.
Going into a changing room, he gathered his attire for the event. [A club, something red, Duik is a DJ...] He looked through the cloths and deemed some too fancy while others not fancy enough. [Ahh, here we are.] He quickly changed form his hat and grey jacket to a more party like wear. Alright Duik, what do you think?
Along with the red scarf and black jeans.
BB turned to Xiao when she spoke up.
OOOoooOO! You're pretty! I really lucked out didn't I?! Ahh man, were gonna have a blast. What do you think we are gonna see? I hope we see a dragon. I always wondered what they looked like! Also It's a holiday. HOLIDAY! So much energy that I can already feel it. It's like I don't even need my water! When Xiao offered her shoulder, it was an instant take. Shoulders are great when I'm tired. Though I sure will miss my bed that is Barry's scarf. Oh Well. Also, of course I will come along! It's bonding time with a new friend silly. She bobbed up and down as Xiao walked to her room to gather some things.
Once there, she happily fluttered about in her room. Gathering all the new information she could. Going in a square pattern while only changing in a diagonal direction every now and then.
I like this room! and I LOVE that dress! I tell ya, Barry could fill that baby out if you gave him some time!
