Hearing Zoe's speech not a moment after her countdown had started, Leandra quietly giggled to herself before feeling a strong urge to shout out, 'Called it!'

Alas, Luness overheard Leandra's thoughts and immediately looked sideways at her before calmly saying, "No."

Blinking, Leandra then met Luness' gaze before saying, "But-"

"No."

Inhaling to say 'but' again, Leandra was cut short yet again, by Luness saying, "Lea, no."

Exhaling and looking a bit deflated, Leandra then muttered, "Fine, grumpy pants."

Listening to the others pitching in to defend Calista and then Amber as well, Leandra wisely kept her mouth shut, mostly because she had no idea what to add.

Luness tilted her head about while listening to the others, inwardly agreeing with the points that were made.

@DawnAntalios (mentioned) @anyone else

While everyone loudly declared their opinions and took a stand, Manjano continued to lean back against the wall with his arms crossed over his chest.

This was annoying Manjano. Some people were getting unnecessarily loud while others were saying way more than what was necessary to convey their points.

As Darcy led the group out and to the infirmary, Manjano stood in the doorway to listen in on everything and soon Darcy left with Talon upon declaring that they were no longer stripping Calista's rank and it now seemed pointless to Manjano that they'd all been brought to that debrief to begin with. Darcy should've just opened up with, 'what evidence do you all have to make it worth all of the chaos you all caused during your last mission?'

Sighing, Manjano turned away from the room when Beth spoke up about her glasses, deciding he was of no use to the team at the moment. Plus, he had more pressing matters to attend to.

Weaving about the hallways of the infirmary, Manjano soon found himself standing just outside of Falarion's room and peered through the glass to see Laohu keeping him company. That tiger had a weird way of understanding people whether or not they spoke. Personally, it kinda freaked out Manjano, but Falarion seemed to be doing all right. From where Manjano was standing, Falarion mostly just looked like he was tired.

At Darcy's chilling words Rin merely nodded. Haku used the tip of her tail to wipe the second tear that had begun to roll down his cheek. He pushed himself from the wall and followed along the group. He decided to trail behind, he had burst out, quite out of character for him. And very embarrassing, he decided to wait right by the door, stepping out to get out of Darcy's way. He contemplated stepping back in, but with only a glance to Manjano, who was as quiet as ever he took off walking towards the gardens once more. "Suspension, that's as light a sentencing as anyone can get." Haku whispered as they moved further from the rest of the group. Once back in the garden Rin found what seemed to have become his usual spot. A small clearing in the middle of the entire garden, this area was special because it had cherry blossom trees that reminded him of home. He didn't know how the watch was able to manage growing them here, but in truth there wasn't much about them that surprised him anymore. "Breathe now, take it easy and relax. The past is the past. You need to leave it there before you get yourself ripped to shreds." Haku scolded him, but her harsh tone quickly became comforting and almost motherly. "I know the memories are hard, but we must use them for what they are. Lessons of the past, to help guide our future. Suppressing them so much only leads to more out rusts like today." She whispered to him as he layer his sword by his side and sat in the grass. Petals began to fall as he took up his breathing exercises to calm down

Bael listened, turning the cup he had brought and hanging his head. He felt a bit of a dip in his stomach when they were relieved, but couldn't help but wonder, do we go home until then?

Between Bael and Cedar, there was a shared image: Sitting on a rock in front of a vast body of wild water, a grey sky and brilliant green peeking out of the dirt, waking up from the months and months of cold, a fine, slight mist that hangs in the air and leaving just a touch of chill and a strong wind blowing off the lake.

I don't know. The reply came after a moment of silence between them. Bael looked up tentatively at Darcy, not speaking along with the others. He didn't think his opinion was needed. He listened long enough to appreciate Zoe's little speech but ignored what everyone else said — it would all amount to the same thing.

That was, until Amber spoke.

The mention of murder immediately snapped Bael back into the conversation and he could feel his stomach twist painfully. It was disgusting that anything would do these things. Inhuman — sick—

Cedar turned his attention sharply to Bael, and the boy could sense alarm from his companion. He was bewildered by it. What had Cedar sensed?

He didn't have time to dwell on it.

Darcy began talking about their suspensions then, and with a slight sense of disappointment Bael realized he'd be staying here at the base. But the throbbing pain of his shoulder reminded him that he wanted to learn how to defend himself from the criminals that he would be facing. No doubt was left in him that he and Wednesday would be the first targets in a firefight — after all, if the team can't get field treatment, they die much quicker, and medics were easy pickings.

If they wanted to fight him, Bael was ready to give them a fight indeed. They deserved it, didn't they? You couldn't kill dozens of people for personal gain and not deserve it.

Beth faded into the background of the room, as others began to slip out and Zoe spoke again. She took the aforementioned glasses off and handed them to Totus. He took them in his beak and flew off her shoulder, taking them to the technology wing. Beth looked over at Zoe, and her face became something between a scowl and a smirk. "Well, I guess Zoe's warm-fuzzy drugs have worn off," She joked softly. Had Totus still been on her shoulder, he would have heard her and laughed, but she wasnt sure that anyone else would.

Totus took the glasses and flew out of the room, down the hall, toward the technology wing. It was a pleasant flight through the halls, but a little too short for his liking. He handed the glasses off to a tech, who appeared to have been notified by Darcy that the glasses would be coming, and suggested they be outfitted to upload directly to the Watch database instead of depending on the memory card. The tech nodded and agreed, and sent Totus on his way back to Beth. Within a few minutes, he was back on her shoulder.

Beth smiled a bit when Totus returned to her shoulder, then looked at the members of the team still in the room. "Have a good night, guys. Get well soon, Agent Strong." Beth said, then slipped out of the room. She paused in the hallway, taking a deep breath. Briefly, Totus pushed an image of Falarion and Manjano into her head, but he withdrew the silent suggestion when her gut clenched. Slowly, Beth made her way towards her designated room, not thinking at all to avoid thinking too much.

With a duffel bag slung around his shoulder and a potted plant in both hands, Barry made his way to his soon to be room. He had lost BB along the way when she got distracted by the new environment. That was fine though, she always found him eventually. Shifting the plant to on arm, he opened the door to a relatively small room. The corner of his mouth curled with a little displeasure. He was fine with small rooms and has lived in many. Bimpy, on the other hand, would not be so keen on the lay out. Setting the plant down on the ground, he flung the bag to the foot of the bed and proceeded to get his belongings out. BAAAAAARRRRRRRYYYYY!!! The loud familiar voice broke the calm and quiet nature of his whereabouts.

Barry Barry Barry! You should see this place. It's soooo big! She sputtered as she flew into the room. Doing a few twirls and loops in the air, she got the basic layout of the room. So many rooms and halls and new faces. It's amazing! Especially compaired to this room. Really, who wants to be in a stuffy room like this when you can go see all the neat stuff! Come on Barry! Come..on.. She had been flying her fastest through the place, that she practically used all her energy already. Landing on the bed frame, she let out an exhausted sigh. With a smirk, Barry lifted a bottle of sugar water from the duffle bag. Dawww, you know me sooo well. BB said while flying up to hug his face. Unscrewing the bottle cap, BB instantly took to the sugary goodness. Within seconds, she was up and active once again.

What do we do now Barry? Huh, Huh? What did they tell you? Turning to BB, Barry held a sign language book in one hand. Doing a series of slow and stuttered movements with his arms and hands, he tried him best to tell BB. They.. told. Me. Find. People. Agents. She muttered to herself while piecing together the words. OH! They want us to find other agents! I gotcha. I think I passed some on the way. I didn't stop though since I wanted to come get you! You really shouldn't run off like that. It takes FOREVER to find you silly. Well come on! Follow meeee.

As she was finishing her sentence, she fluttered fast out the door. Barry opted to grab the sugar water while he made his way out as well. It wasn't hard to keep track of her. she normally did a square pattern while looking at things. Start at the top left, go down, to the right, back up. Barry had a gleeful smile while watching her. It's been a while since they went somewhere new. BB stopped just before an opening to wait for him. As he walked up she fluttered towards the group. BARRY! NEW FACES! She exclaimed as Barry turned the corner.

Alec had to laugh. The little monkey had more energy than Duik did, and that said a lot. As darcy left the room Alec let out a breath he'd been holding. It looked like Calista would be staying with them.

"Close call huh?" He offered to the little civet.

Calista was quite for a while, taking it in, then she snapped around to them. "Right, let's get to work. You may have been suspended but I intent to make that count. Anyone not severly injured is going to make their way down to the training hall. Talon's been organizing some personal trainers for you to help you develop your specific talents further. We got lucky this time, next time we won't so we're damn-well going to be prepared. Now out! All of you!"

Amber couldn't hide her laugh. "Don't worry, that's how Cali expressed joy." She gave a grateful smile to Simon.

"Thanks for watching over my team." She told him softly.

At Zoe's compliments she waved a dismissive hand. "We're all trained to withstand torture eventually. You will be too. Its not something anyone can't master if they need to."

Alec was about to go when he saw the look on Duik's face. "Dude...that is so messed." He was referring to the machine Strong had described. "How can they even live with themselves? Doing that, and having no human partner?"

Alec put a hand on Duik's shoulder. "I dunno D, but we're not going to let them do it for much longer."

It was just then a new face appeared just at the door to the med bay where most were gathered, along with a very tiny, very loud bird.

Calista gave him an up-and-down glance as she walked past.

"Good, new recruit's here. You can start training with the others. I'm agent Calista, my partner is over there in the recovery room, bed on the left. Her name is agent Strong. the others will introduce themselves."

With that Calista left.

"Yes, she is always like that." Alec answered the unasked question. "And apparently that's her being happy. I'm Alec, this is Duik." He gestured to himself and then the hyena who grinned and flapped a paw at the new pair.

"Yo!" Duik greeted them happily. "Bird...you are the coolest thing! Can you fly backwards?"

The next few weeks were packed with training. Between Talon's schedule and Calista's extra material it was a wonder any of them had time to themselves.

They were taught self-defense (those who hadn't learned it at least, like Alec), firearms training, infiltration protocols and as an added measure Calista had made them all memorize the most crucial field conduct books...and quizzed them on it.

Now Alec could feel the cool blue mat beneath his bare feet as he took a defensive stance. The self-defense trainers were a petite blonde woman with a bubbly character and her Corgi partner. Alec had laughed when they first entered the hall, but they had beaten him in seconds the first round he had with them, using a cooperative technique that left both he and Duik speechless. They had certainly earned their respect from him. Now he braced for another attack as the woman charged forward, then feinted at the last minute as her partner leapt from her knee to her shoulder and launched himself at Alec's face.

"Think fast Desrois!" He barked and for the first time in three weeks, Alec did. He was already moving when the corgi called out. Duik rushed in as he ducked and twisted back, as if he were playing limbo. Duik leapt, landing on his knees and as he pushed off again, Alec gave him a boost under his hind legs with both arms. The hyena followed the little dog’s trajectory in the air, Alec’s boost sending him along faster and he caught his target before they landed, pinning him to the mat.

The corgi tapped out, waving his stumpy tail.

Well done Spotty!” he said in a thick Irish accent, clearly pleased. “Took ye both a month ‘o’ Sundays te get it roight, but I think yer’ve done it now.

Agent Braidy helped Alec to his feet and Duik let the corgi--called Finnigan--up.

That’s enough for today lad.” Braidy said in an accent just as thick. “You’re almost up to field-level, bit more work and ye might be able to fend off something bigger than a corgi.

Alec had come to take the instructor’s friendly teasing in stride. They thanked the trainers before heading to the training hall showers.

You know, I think we’re getting the hang of this. If someone told me that I’d actually be good at fighting, I’d have called them insane.” The hyena said as he got a towel and tossed it at Alec, who caught it and began to dab at his face.

Its sure good to know.” He replied. He looked around the room for some of the others as he did, wondering who else had been dragged into that afternoon’s physical training.

Ash had a very productive three weeks, he met this lovely man named Cristian and after a few talks had ended up getting him to stay the night in a hotel room that was completely off the books. Other than confirming the fact that his charisma was still there he went along with the other training programs though he took extra time in learning strategies. He probably wouldn't be given a part as a leader again, but he still needed to be ready just incase the unlikely happened. He didn't want anyone to get hurt like before so he worked hard to learn from his mistakes. As he did this he also went over his knowledge of explosives and expanded even more. After getting the picture of the explosive device that the other team had encountered he spent his time trying to make a replica and even learning the in and outs of it the best he could from the picture.

In the weeks his shoulder made a near perfect recovery however there was a nasty looking scar there that had no plans in going away. Despite this he didn't truly mind, after all a scar like that was something easily hidden. Now that his shoulder was better he chose to practice his self defense once again, mainly the style of Krav Maga. He knew this one very well already but was taking the time to improve this deadly form of defense. After having practice for three hours now with little break he decided to finally take one before he collapsed from exhaustion. Leaning against a wall he sighed as sweat dropped from his body, a towel was draped over his shoulders and he drunk from his thermos as he watched an on going fight between Alec and a trainer.

When the fight was over he pushed off the wall and approached Alec. "Nice match right there, give it a time and you will be a master in no time." He said with a small laugh as he closed his thermos. "Oh while I'm here I want to apologize for Fie the other day... I didn't know he placed the pail of peanut butter over your door till it was too late... Same goes with switching of the shampoo for a pop pink dye...." He said with a slight chuckle as he scratched his head. "I have no idea where he got all that peanut butter though..."

Fie was in the kitchen reading a book while mixing up a few things. He had a very productive week! He pranked Ash five times! Alec twice! Leandra, Xaio once and even got Simon one time! It was a great week of laughter for the monkey while Ash tried to end him in a few ways! Either way! Good three weeks to say the least!

Today was so far a great day! However he knew full well it was bound to get better~ After all using Ash's wallet he ordered some perfect pasta from Olive Garden, and with this meal he had his next prank already set up. Right now in Lenadras room was the said pasta in plain sight still steaming a bit indicating it was nice and fresh! Next to this plate was an apology letter that was written by Fie, but it was signed with Ash's name. Now the pasta looked innocent enough.... Till you actually ate it. The moment you bit into the sauce mixed with a bunch of random things Fie found (including raspberry jam, a ton of sugar and a few other spices that should never be together) you will instantly regret ever eating such a great looking pasta..

As he waited for the results of his prank he was reading a book about poison, he wanted to find a way to be more useful on the field and he thought learning how to make different poisons and how to counter them as well would be something of use! After all he worked with tear gas, sneezing powder and all sorts of stuff that made people miserable when in contact with! So he might as well step it up! Right now he was trying to make a poison that would cause a stomach ache but leave no trace in your body... However something wasn't right as it was right now a black sludge.....

Beth gently squeezed her finger, wincing as the recoil of the rifle hit in the same spot it had for the last three weeks. Along with the standard training in self-defense, regular firearms, and all the protocols, Beth had been brushing up on her long-distance shooting skills. She supposed she was considered a sniper now that it wasnt hunting, but she tried not to dwell on it too much. With a huff, she ended her session and began packing her things away, cleaning the gun quickly after removing her ear protection. Totus hooked his off with a talon, looking irritated and restless. His training had wound down in the last week, as there was only so much flying you can teach an owl.

Of course, they had spent most of their time working together to improve their tracking skills. The Watch had created elaborate trials to put their skills to the test, and it actually had been quite the challenge. They both were pretty tired, and there was an elephant in the room that would just not go away. It was the shooting range instructor's companion, and Totus found its smell rather disagreeable.

They hadnt talked about what had happened between Manjano and Beth, but totus could tell that it was weighing on her. Totus actually missed Falarion a little, and was concerned that Beth had withdrawn so much and dove so readily into the training.

Totus settled onto Beth's shoulder with a soft churr, and ruffled her hair with his beak. "Can we go to the gardens for a flight now?"

Beth nodded absently, and headed that way. Her body hurt, not just from the recoil of the rifle. She had worked out more than she ever had in the last three weeks. She had always been fit, but never one to spend hours in the gym. After three weeks, she was sore, and she missed her little protective layer of body fat. And she had a horrendous craving for Mexican food.

As they reached the garden, Totus lifted off from her shoulder and soared upward, flying with relaxed wingstrokes, as Beth settled down against the trunk of a tree to watch him fly. It was one of her favorite things; she could almost feel herself flying with him.

BB made an exasperated gasp from Duik's comment while Barry did his best to acknowledge Alec's greeting. Circling around Barry's head as fast as she could from excitement, BB could't hold in her excitement. Barry! Barry Barry Barry! Did you hear that? He think's i'm the COOLEST! Barry simply nodded as he took out the bottle of sugar water. He held out 3 fingers and counted down. 3,2,1. She landed on his shoulder gasping from activities. Heading down his arm, she took in as much as she could. Almost instantly, she was right back up. Flying over to Duik, she landed on his head. You bet your bottom bruiser I can fly backwards! I go up, down, side to side, straight, back and loops! She took a moment for her thoughts to catch up. I like this one, Barry.

@SilverFlight

The little get together was cut short by training needs. Both Barry and BB caught glimpse of the others but mostly trained on their own to show the Watch their skills. Although Barry was in the military and had learned some fighting techniques, he learned a lot more. He was a scouter, he shouldn't have been close enough for hand to hand combat anyway. Still, he made sure to keep his body in top physical health. That was one routine that he kept from both plays and military training. BB was still her hyperactive self. She enjoyed a good challenge that she knew was in good fun. She might not be as fast as she could, but she can still dodge a net pretty well.

In their free time, they continued to work on a few of their own little tricks. Preparation was always key for ventriloquism. They made little signs on what topics to talk about if things go astray. With a simple twitch of a finger, they would be able to re-sync if needed. They still had little gestures they do now and then just to mess around. Any other free time was spent with Barry taking care of his plant, learning more sign language, or just getting his barrings around the place. Bimpy, on the other hand, went adventuring around the place. She didn't even stop to say hi to anyone most of the time. There was simple so much to see.

Xiao Hui jumped slightly when she felt a hand on hers, turning to her left, she found Leandra trying to comfort her, telling her it'll be okay. Blinking in surprise, Xiao Hui shook her head before it turned into nodding as her mouth formed a small smile, "Thank you, Lea." She whispered to her, noticing the girl before her seemed also quite nervous but managed to want to comfort her first before herself. Xiao Hui admired Lea's kindness but hoped she would take care of herself as well. In return, Xiao Hui squeezed her hand, whispering, "We'll be okay and it'll turn out alright, Lea. We did what we had to and what was needed. Despite disobeying, it kinda feels nice rebelling once in a while." She managed to say honestly as she shrugged her shoulders. Xiao Hui was grateful for Lea's support especially since seeing Agent Darcy and Talon's anger filled expression and aura reminded her too much of home that it nearly gave her a whip lash. As she sat down between Lea and Alec, she took a deep breathe and sat silently as Agent Darcy began speaking. With each word he spoke and mistakes they made, his voice raise an octave higher, soon enough, his face reddened as if a vein was going to pop out if he didn't calm down. Taking a deep breathe, Xiao Hui squeezed Lea's hand, as her other hand gently slipped in Duirk's pelt as she shh-ed him quietly, wanting to comfort the both of them as best as she could. She sent a soft smile towards Alec, but seeing her companions, all of them were on edge. To be quite honest, she was more calmer than she could bargain for, but she was used to it, the constant anger, yells, and disappointments. However, it didn't mean she liked it. Hearing Darcy's side of the argument, he had every right, however, as he continued wanting to strip Calista of her rank was a little too far.

Xiao Hui supressed the urge to stand up quickly and retailate against the man. However, she held her breathe, knowing she couldn't do it, especially against the higher authorities. But, that didn't mean she'd back down and take it. So, to hear Simon, Rin, and Zoe's argument, she let out a small smirk, hearing how clever, observant, and calm they were made her feel proud. From the first encounter she had with them to now, she can honestly say the whole lot of them improved tremendously, especially keeping their tempers in check. But, seeing Rin's crestfallen expression made her feel pained, especially hearing that he may have had a rough time with the Watch just as much as Simon and Amber had as well. Nothing ever goes well when you're in an organization, sadly. Biting her lip, Xiao Hui could only hope Simon was right about Agent Strong finding valuble information on the rogues as well as Beth's pictures that she took when they were rescuing her. On the other hand, hearing Zoe's spill, she found herself smiling a tad bit, knowing the girl approved of them and very much so explained to Agent Darcy that what they did was exactly what the Watch's sigma wanted and needed: vigilance, intelligence, and strategy. But, her mind still reverted back to Rin's outburst, as he did have a point about the agents being too predictable, considering there was a betrayer in their midst, knowing everything by the books. So, in their favor, the new recruits were best for the job. Xiao Hui still admired Gigi for her bravery as did Laohu, knowing she was fine now and her bond with Isabel would have gotten stronger by now from this mission. Soon, Agent Darcy spoke again, hearing their words but he would only take back stripping Calista's rank when they see Agent Amber.

Getting up carefully, Xiao Hui followed everyone, looking between Duirk, Alec, and Lea now and then, wanting to make sure they were okay before continuing. Soon, they arrived as Xiao Hui nodded at Agent Strong, glad to see she was quick on her way to recovering. However, her expression turned just as serious when Agent Strong debriefed all of them. Xiao Hui tried to keep a stoic face, but to her dismay, shock and horror filled her expression as she couldn't believe her ears. The image was playing raw in her mind as she whimpered slightly through the mindlink she and Laohu shared together. Growling loudly in the mindlink, he was not a happy camper, not one bit. Taking a deep breathe, Xiao Hui retained the information Agent Strong had provided them but because of this, Calista would keep her rank as a sigh of relief escaped her lips. For the remainder of their suspension, they would have to train to improve on their skills since it seemed Talon had provided useful skills and combats for them. Xiao Hui nodded in Agent Strong's direction and Calista's,
"No need for thanking and glad to have you still here, Calista." But, seeing the way Calista spoke as Agent Amber and Alec began teasing the civet, she couldn't help but muster a slight laugh. However, hearing Fie's introduction to everyone, she couldn't help but shake her head, "Apologies aren't necessary Fie. . and will you tell Ash, it's not his fault, for me?" Xiao Hui said softly tilting her head. Soon, Xiao Hui said her good-byes, not before seeing a new recruit approaching as she sent a soft smile towards the humming bird and the male approaching with her.

In the next few weeks they were suspended, Xiao Hui was a little iffy on training considering Alec had told her to not do anything strenuous on the first week, but of course, she disobeyed him. Alec had been a little mad at her since she blatantly didn't listen to him, but nevertheless, never fussed when she went to him after training to re-wrap her wounds once more every few hours. With some pointers from the Agent she had been assigned with to help improve in her skills, she was taught how to use a pistol. The first day was strenuous, as her shoulders were hurting from the recoil and she was feeling quite sore from her right-hand since well, she wasn't used to the effort that was needed to use a pistol. Honestly, she never liked using guns or any machine of the sort, but considering it was a close call in her last mission, she needed to be caught up on any weaponry she would be able to get her hands on, using a sword and hand-to-hand combats such as martial arts and self defenses would not work. She had always had trouble with long distance ranges, unless it involved her handy dandy needles or knives. Gun altogether was a different story. But, through the rigorous training she made herself go through, despite the wound on her back, she did it, nonetheless, not expecting anything less than perfection. She could proudly say that in the few weeks she trained, sometimes working overtime, helped her a lot on her aim and shots, she may not be professional, but she was a good shot enough to get her target from the right distance.

However, that wasn't all she did, during her free-time, she'd help Lea on combats and improving her self-defense mechanisms. It came to a surprise to her at first that she would want to ask her since she was afraid she was too strict, but nevertheless, she kept coming back. If Xiao Hui had to be honest, Lea reminded her of herself. . when she was much younger and more innocent. Xiao Hui envied Lea's courageousness and strong-hold on being a pacifist, only wanting to defend herself from combat, and not killing her opponents. But, because she had mentioned she was able to use pressure points in self-defense, Lea had asked her to teach her all about it. However, for the first week, Xiao Hui had Lea studying the human and animal anatomy to make sure were the pressure points were on the body, if she probed the wrong point, that could cause worse damage than she had meant. Honestly, Xiao Hui would never want to taint the pure soul that was Lea. But, of course, it wasn't smooth sailing since well . . Fie loved to pull pranks and after one of their sessions, Xiao Hui was a bit delusional from lack of sleep that she literally fell into Fie's prank face first. Having pie in your face and skunk smell followed was definitely not a pleasant sight, especially getting the smell off of her.

After the mindlink with Xiao Hui as he kept the link open to hear anything that was going on, Laohu heard stirring from the bed as he waited for Falarion to wake up. However, as soon as the hybrid opened his eyes, Laohu tilted his head, waiting for Fally's reaction, only to see him get startled. Chuckling, Laohu shook his head, walking slowly over to the bed where Fally was laying. "Manjano? The last I saw him, he was in the cafeteria with the others, but it seemed they all moved to the room where they're getting debriefed by Agent Darcy." He informed the wolf-dog as he was still amused by Falarion's expression, "Sorry for startling you, it seems I have that affect on humans and animals alike." Laohu joked slightly as he winced in response when Falarion yelped and commented on his wound. "Ah, it really wasn't the best, but the doctors here are supposedly the best ones you can have so you'll be playing ball in no time." He tried to comfort the young one before him as he jumped on the hair, swishing his tail back and forth. But, from judging the wolf's reaction, he didn't seem to be in the mood, dampened almost. However, the next words he whispered, thanks to his all mighty hearing, Laohu heard the words "Gigi" roll of his tongue. It seemed both the two pairs are in a downy mood and Laohu honestly didn't have any words to soothe the heart ache Fally was going through. "Are you hungry? An empty stomach isn't going to help you regain your energy back. Plus, she'll worry if you don't call her, right?" He said, trying to lighten the mood slightly by reminding him it isn't a good-bye, "She may not be here physically, but you never know, maybe you'll be able to see her again one day. But, we have to make do with what we have and that's letters and face-timing, hm?" Laohu said, slightly nudging the hybrid on his side, careful not to harm him too much. "Plus, I've been wanting to get some freedom for quite some time and I could go up for a game of ball, yeah?" But, seeing and feeling Falarion's mood, it'll take a while for the hybrid to recover physially and emotionally, so he jumped down from the chair and went towards the couch, sprawling out as he placed his head down, closing his eyes.

However, as time passed, he had felt Xiao Hui's emotions changing from one thing to the next, never stopping at one particular feeling. He felt antsy, knowing Xiao Hui was feeling like a tarpoon or a whirlwind of emotions passing through her. But, the one thing that he found horror the most was when she just had let him zone in on the conversation the others were having as he found that he couldn't surpress an animalistic growl in the mind-link as his anger had gotten the best of him. Never in a million years would he ever do such a thing, especially 'cause so much harm to others just to remain sapient, he'd rather die than live knowing he'd killed someone he loved. Speaking slowly, Laohu had let Falarion in on what was going on, making sure the hybrid understood him yet at the same time, only told the important details that they were on suspension for three weeks but in that time they'll recover and do a little training here and there for those who weren't wounded. However, smelling a different scent than his and Falarion and feeling another presence walking down the hallways, Laohu glanced over slightly, seeing Manjano outside the door, looking in. Tilting his head, he wondered why Manjano hadn't come in, but nevertheless, the male looked worse than before, his brows furrowed more, seeing he seemed more frustrated and hurt than anything else. Waiting for Manjano to see him looking at him, Laohu signaled him to come inside, as he mouthed that Falarion had been looking for him. He felt the two needed some R&R or a little fun, to get their mind off of some things and quickly.

Xiao Hui hadn't gotten mad when Fie had pulled such a prank, maybe a little surprised, but she laughed it off, not having that much fun of being pranked, ever, in her life. So, honestly, she was glad Fie made her his target, in fact, she thanked him, quite shocking the monkey and Ash, literally. It made her happy?Yes, happy, knowing her teammates were that comfortable with her to be joking and playing around with her, especially even asking for some advice and help. Laohu, on the other hand, relaxed a lot, loounging around with Falarion, sometimes bothering him to hurry up and recover so they could play together and sometimes he went to bother Manjano in wanting him to eat with him with his head in the bowl. Nevertheless, it was another afternoon of training and the three week was almost up, Xiao Hui had just got done finishing running, doing some exercises and her long distance target practice with a revolver, glad the recoil hadn't hurt anymore and she had gotten used to it, knowing how to correctly aim and use the weapon. Now, she was currently with Lea, meeting up with her, wanting to see how much she's improved and worked on her abilities, especially seeing that the past few weeks had been strenuous yet rewarding to see the smile on the girl's face when she was able to get a handle on the ability.

Laohu had arrived early, watching Lea practicing on her self-defense and other movements she wanted to have improve on in the training room. But, soon enough, Xiao Hui made an appearance as she watched her "apprentice" work on herself
, "Come on, Lea! Show the bag who's boss, I know you have more strength than that!" She called out to the optimistic yet hardworking girl in front of her. However, at the corner of her eye, she noticed Alec way on the other side, training with another Agent. Tilting her head, she realized she hadn't seen him quite often in a while, unless bandaging and whatnot counted, but nevertheless, it seemed he improved a lot. Anyways, at the subject at hand, Xiao Hui grinned, seeing the girl's punches getting tougher and stronger with each blow. Getting over to the punching bag, Xiao Hui held onto the other side as she gripped it, letting Lea finish her training session. Once she finished, Xiao Hui gave her a water bottle, letting the girl take a break before beginning once more. "Lea, I think you're ready now. No more practicing on dummies and no more "fake" hits." Xiao Hui said excitedly before coughing, as she signaled Laohu to come over. Walking in the middle between Leandra and Laohu, Xiao Hui spoke as Laohu swished his tail back and forth, stretching here and there, "Right now, I want you to paralyze Laohu, use everything you've learned in the past week about pressure points and taking down an animal. Don't let fear stop you. It's kill or be killed, or in your case, do what you can to get them down." She said, prepping Lea and Laohu up for their sparring. Xiao Hui wanted Leandra to remember what they spoke about, especially when it comes to these situation when she's faced with nowhere to run and she's cornered. At the same time, Xiao Hui prayed and hoped that she would never have to ask her to learn other spots besides the ones she showed her: the back of the neck, arms, and legs, where the weak points are to freeze the opponents. She knew it was only a matter of time Lea was ready, even though their workouts and session were tough and stressful, it was worth it in the end, especially when Xiao Hui knew Lea picked up on things rather quicker and was proud to have a "student" as her. "This is it, Lea, it's now or never, right? Show me what you got. Go!" As soon as Xiao Hui said those words, Laohu took that call and starting running towards Lea, jumping up in the air, ready to pounce on the girl.

Tracking. Training. Research. These were the main aspects and the things Zoe focused on in the last three weeks as she forced herself to be pushed to the limits. She had tried to uncover the mystery behind the petal she had found but everything she had encountered ended up in vague answers or just dead ends, she knew not how to properly approach the topic for the clue was very vague itself. She felt a bit lost and unable to concentrate on this for she had an another, pressing matter which made her anxious...

It became clear that relying on the bow alone was a folly - in the dark tunnels she really had to strain her vision and rely on a bit of luck as well as on her accuracy - a chance she did not want to take. This time it might had been enough to rely on prayers and hope but she did not want to be an unsteady asset to the team when it came to fighting, especially because she claimed to be a master warrior in the first place. Instead of honing her already good skills with the bow she took up an another aspect of war: using a very unique and powerful sabre created by the engineers of the Watch. This sabre - much like her arrows - was forged from the strongest titanium and had the durability to withstand even bombs and to slice through combat armors as well. Hand to hand combat was not among her strength but she realized that she had to train herself in more ways than one if they were to succeed.

At the end of the tiring training session she felt that now at least she had some understanding of her new weapon she nicknamed Gardnirsormr. For some sentimental reason she remembered how her sister used to name her weapons with passion, she explained to her that they were extensions of a warrior's soul, they were the very essence of the fight itself. Taking this advice to heart she desired to bond with her weapons and thus she named each of them according to their legacy - and as Gardnirsormr was as light as the wind but as relentless as the tempest she used an ancient tongue to name it so that she could remember it.

Tired and exhausted she decided to part from Eos, the one she had sparred with for the reminder of the day. Now she wished to meditate in the garden... and to try out something she saw her sister practicing in secret when she thought that the little Zoe could not see her. She stepped into the garden and looked around hastily - at first she did not notice anyone so she took a deep breath, readied her sword and took a martial pose.

"Tsun... " she muttered the word as she swung her blade carefully, bringing it near to her hips. She closed her eyes as she tried to recall the movements of her sister properly. When she got what was coming next she swung around with her blade, raising it towards the sky.

" Ashj... " she continued as her eyes opened and with a much louder voice she struck down, following up by a dexterous lunge.

" Vanir! " she exclaimed, finishing the move sequence. The gentle wind blew around her but - just as she expected - nothing really had happened. It was just the breeze which blew in the wind, nothing extraordinary. She did not think that something strange would happen, they did not live in a fairy tale for that. Still, it was worth a shot. With that she continued to shout the three words as she delivered blows one after another, trying to increase her precision and her aim. Slowly and steadily she has gotten into the lust of the battle and were delivering strikes quickly one after another, the time between her swings lessening as she did so. With one powerful blow she struck the ground, cutting deep into the earth - and finally she listened to her surroundings. She heard a flap of wings in the sky and looking up she saw Totus flying up above. But if the noble owl was here then it could man but one thing...

Turning to her left she spotted the exhausted Beth sitting beneath a trunk, watching her companion... and hopefully not her. Clearing her throat and trying to hide her shame she straightened and walked up to her.

" Oh, my apologies, I did not see you there. " she said, struggling to keep the neutral voice as she spoke " I am proud of you. You have trained hard in the past three week and you have surpassed my greatest expectations - I am proud to fight beside someone with so much determination and power. "

She looked up to the sky as she watched Totus.

" You both deserve a brief meditation now, to enjoy nature. " she closed her eyes, smelling the crisp air " I always retreat to nature when I need my mind cleared from doubts or fears - or just to rest. It is wise of you that you decided to do the same. "

Choosing to sit down she tried to place herself on the ground so that Beth did not find it intruding and for a moment she remained silent. She felt... a strange anxiety creeping over her and sh looked at the girl before she decided to finally speak up.

" You might remember my words from three weeks ago. " she spoke silently " I have said many things while being under the influence of those medicines, many of which I regret saying. But I wanted you to know that what I told you... " she paused " That what I told you I did not regret. Those words were true. "

She looked in her eyes.

" Thank you, Beth. "

@Flutterby

Eos accepted the fact that the girl sought solitude and instead of arguing or interfering with her he decided to take a walk in the facility, to see what the others were up to. Knowing that everybody worked hard in the past weeks it was not surprising to him that he had found a bunch of people still training in the room with agents. He spotted Alec practicing with a Corgi and he smiled warmly at the 'boy'. He looked around and found Lea and Laohu ready to clash together in a fierce battle - but seeing how Xiao was already supervising the fight he decided not to join as spectator just now. The girl looked radiant, perhaps happy even which mad his old heart caressed with happiness. He turned to Alec, watching him train and he gently spoke to him.

" For someone who had never engaged in combat before you wield your weapons as a master. " he complimented " You do have an affinity towards combat it seems - a gift many would envy. "

He smiled as he sat down.

" There is no sweeter taste in life than reaping the fruits of your own labor. Watching how a youngling tries his own wings on their own, to see the progress they make when they try to soar for the first time - they might make mistakes but ultimately they will be masters of the skies - the same applies to fighting and you make me proud, Alec. "

Simon smiled at Amber and Calista, nodding at the former at her thanks. As everyone began leaving the room to follow Calista, Simon and Jimbo turned just in time to see a small darting bird and a young blond man entering the room. The little hummingbird chipped to the young man and Simon followed Alec's lead after Calista had called him the new recruit.

"Welcome! Always good to have new team members. I'm Simon Sinclair, this mass of grumpy fur is Jimbo."

Simon smiled at the young man but was instantly captivated by the sound of trainers. Simon smile grew wild as he lifted his arms above his head and flexed his tree trunk like arms.

"I have perfected the art of training Calista! I would like to see what these trainers will do when they attempt to train me."

Jimbo sported his usual lack of amusement expression as he to followed the others.

~

The three weeks seemed to fly by without stopping. Simon and Jimbo spent a great deal of their time in their separate fields. Simon worked long hours in the loading bays and maintenance bays working on every manner of Watch Vehicles imaginable. It was one of the few things that would focus his mind without Jimbo around and it kept him busy and constantly moving.

The free time that he allowed himself he would go and check on Amber and head down to the gym to spar with whoever he could find. Once during a training session with one of the trainers, Simon stuck his hand into his boxing gloves and pulled it out covered in sticky goop. The cackling of a little white monkey was all he heard afterwards and Simon couldn't help but laugh as well.

The only times this cycle was broken was during the last week of the suspension, where he would wander down towards the R&D department to see Nigel. Even Jimbo didn't know what he was up to down there and whenever he asked, Simon would simply reply with a shrug and change the subject.

Jimbo had been spending most of his time near the armory. He would switch between whatever gun he could get his hands and feet on and take them out to the firing range for practice. He offered up his assistance with to the others that asked for it but mostly kept to himself. He watched several of the others on the team use their training time there as well. The one he saw the most was Beth and Totus, and he had to admit, the girl was becoming a deadly force to be reckoned with when it came to her rifle work. The others were a bit more scarce, but he knew they were all training hard as well.

Towards the end of the suspension, Simon and Jimbo began spending a bit more time together in the gym together which is where the found themselves now. The pair were on the blue mats starring at each other as they circled one another. Simon made the first move, his typical style, and lunged for Jimbo's midsection. The gorilla let out an oof as Simons shoulder collided with his abdomen and lifted him off the mat a bit as the pair began to tussle with each other. Jimbo grabbed hold of Simons shirt, which was odd given that Simon would usually take his shirt off when the pair sparred. Simon's back legs flailed as Jimbo lifted him up with his massive arms and followed through with the momentum so that both of them went falling backwards on the mat with a loud THUD! Simon winced a bit as he scrambled away from the Gorilla and took a knee on the matt watch Jimbo get up.

"That fighting dirty Jim. Clothes are off limits."

Jimbo returned to his knuckles and smirked at Simon.

"That's what happens when you decide to wear a shirt for the first time in 13 years during our sparr. What the heck Simon?"

Simon didn't answer his partner, he simply bolted towards him quickly. Jimbo ready for another abdomen attack but when Simon hit the mat about a foot from him, Jimbo's eyes went wide. Simon's foot collided with Jimbo's knocking him out of his stance. Simon then reached up and grabbed one of Jimbo's large arms with his and pulled back on it as he wrapped his arm around Jimbo's and drove both up into the small of Jimbo's back. The gorilla grunted as Simon smiled thinking he had won, but was short lived when he felt something pull on his back leg. Jimbo's back foot grabbed hold of Simon's and pulled him back enough Jimbo was able to twist his arm around and turn the tide on Simon. Within a few seconds of more struggling between the two, Simon was the one face down on the mat, and Jimbo had his arm pinned down behind his back. Simon sighed as he tapped the mat and Jimbo released him.

"You know, if I had an extra pair of hands on my feet, you wouldn't get the jump on me like that."

Jimbo wandered over to the side of the mat and picked up a water bottle.

"Simon, no one likes a sore looser."

Simon shot him a sideways glance as he sat on the mat and watched across the gym as Alec and Duik trained with another pair. The two of them were working so well together and had made great progress in the last couple of weeks. As they concluded their training Simon stood and made his way over as Ash approached the pair as well. Simon smiled at the mention of the peanut butter.

"I still do not wish to know what the little scamp put in my boxing gloves. Makes me look twice before sticking my hand in them now."

Totus's flight was less precise than usual- he had been flying hard in training to build his strength back up- but it was soothing to them both. Beth's eyes blinked slowly, staying shut for longer each time. Eventually, the barrier between their minds fell away and they became one mind, in the way that felt natural to them, far different from speaking telepathically.

Slowly, they became aware of an odd shouting. Totus picked up the sound, but Beth identified it as Zoe. Was she doing some kind of training? Totus watched as Zoe realized Beth was there, and Beth opened her eyes to greet her as their minds separated.

"Dont apologize," Beth murmured, and then listened quietly to her words. It was clear Zoe was embarrassed, so Beth kept her eyes on Totus as she listened. She allowed there to be a moment of silence between them. The other girl was odd, but she knew this was her way of being kind.

"Thank you, Zoe. Im quite flattered by your praise. And, you're welcome, even though you shouldnt thank me. We're teammates, in the very least, so we take care of each other. I am equally honored to have you fighting alongside me." Beth tried to speak a little more like Zoe, to make the conversation less awkward. She could feel Totus's amusement, and glared up at him for a brief moment before taking a deep breath and letting it out slowly, as if enjoying the fresh air.

@DawnAntalios

Leandra and Luness both simultaneously turned their heads in the newcomers' direction when the hummingbird flew in and loudly exclaimed 'new faces'!

While Luness amusingly shook her head at the pair, Leandra grinned and gave them a quick wave before noting that everyone was beginning to disperse.

Furrowing her brows at this, Leandra then sighed before putting a hand to her forehead. Not that she was about to pass out, but she suddenly realized just how exhausted she was from everything that had unfolded recently.

Luness gently nudged Leandra's cheek before whispering, "Get some rest, dear. The others can keep things running for now. Plus, it sounds like you're going to need all the rest you can get with this upcoming training and all."

Nodding in response, Leandra then sighed before saying loudly, "I'm going to get some sleep, guys. I'll see all of you later."

Exiting Amber's hospital room, Leandra soon made her way to her shared room with Luness and within the hour, the pair were both sound asleep.

Manjano remained a bit frozen in place until Laohu noticed his presence and signaled for Manjano to join him and Falarion.

Anxiously rubbing the back of his neck, Manjano then let his arm drop to his side before entering the room.

Falarion numbly glanced in Manjano's direction, still upset by Gigi's farewell, even though Laohu had made some good points about there still being ways to contact her. It just wasn't the same.

Manjano nudged at Falarion's conscious through their mental connection before sending comforting feelings to the upset maned wolf.

Calmly approaching Falarion, Manjano then sat down on the bed beside Falarion while running his hand through Falarion's fur on his back to help further comfort him.

I may not have the words to properly comfort you, mate. But know that I'll always be here for you.

Smiling faintly, Falarion glanced sideways and up at Manjano with a grateful look on his face while his tail began to thump against the bed ever so slowly.

Nodding at Laohu for being there for Falarion when he first woke up, Manjano felt that was enough to convey his thanks to the perceptive tiger.

Glancing down at Falarion, who quickly got the memo, Falarion then turned his attention to Laohu before saying, "Thank you, Laohu, for being here for me. Manjano's here now, though, and I'm sure you'd love to return to Xiao."

Grinning now, Falarion then added, "Oh, and I'd love to play ball with you sometime! I've never had a friend to play ball with other than Manjano and he doesn't usually want to do it for long."

Rolling his eyes at Falarion's remark, Manjano then teasingly, and lightly, punched Falarion's uninjured shoulder with his good arm.

Falarion's tail began wagging a bit harder, as he looked over at Manjano before resting his head on Manjano's crooked leg that was resting on the bed beside him.

~~~~~Three Weeks Later~~~~~
Luness rested up in the rafters of the gym, her head tilting this way and that, as she watched over the trainees below.
Over the past three weeks, Luness had quickly taken charge of stopping any sparring that was going too far for her comfort, as well as healing minor wounds in the gym so some could keep pushing themselves.
Right now, Luness' eyes were on Alec and Duik, as the pair defended themselves and then defeated their partners.
Nodding in silent approval, Luness' gaze soon shifted to Leandra, who was sparring with a punching bag nearby, as the girl was soon joined by Xiao, who had quickly become Leandra's trainer over the past three weeks.
@SilverFlight (mentioned)
Leandra huffed, as sweat dripped down the side of her face and her punches became ever so deadly and precise, the punching bag jerking back and forth with each strike.
A big difference between herself and probably most, if not all, of the others training here, Leandra's strikes weren't meant to kill. Only to maim or knock an enemy unconscious.
Hearing Xiao's shouting, Leandra gritted her teeth and pushed harder for another minute or two until Xiao stopped her.
Exhaling, Leandra doubled over for a moment before standing back up and taking the water from Xiao with a grin.
Sipping the water, Leandra watched as Laohu was called over.
While Leandra's heart would've raced a few weeks ago at the mere thought of going against a teammate, her heart began to race with adrenaline now. She'd watched the others doing their sparring for the past few weeks and she knew Luness was up in the rafters in case anything went wrong.
No more fake hits now. This was it. Time to put her training to some actual use.
At the mention of killing, Leandra was about to frown at Xiao's choice of words, but the girl quickly recovered, leaving Leandra grinning at her instead.
As Xiao said 'go', Laohu immediately sprung into a pounce and Leandra quickly dove and rolled to the side to avoid it.
Knowing she couldn't dodge Laohu forever, Leandra quickly got back to her feet and feinted to Laohu's right before going to his left and aiming a swift jab at his left shoulder to make his leg go limp.
@crucialstar
While the others had been working diligently on their combat skills, which Manjano had been told he wasn't allowed to do due to him recovering from his injury, Manjano had taken to learning battle strategies and spent most of his days in the gardens, throwing Falarion's ball for him, as this simple exercise allowed Manjano to work out the kinks in his healing shoulder and gave Falarion the chance to work on building his leg back up in strength. Plus, it was plenty of fun for the maned wolf.
On this particular day, Manjano was reading yet another strategy book, one in which was actually a technical manual and not just a fun book to read, while Falarion was laying in front of him and chewing on his ball. The pair always sat on a bench in the far back of the gardens, Manjano enjoying his solitude while Falarion enjoyed the fact that Manjano felt comfortable enough here to verbally communicate with the maned wolf.
Alas, the peace and solitude was completely disrupted upon the pair overhearing someone shouting something unintelligible in the gardens.
Manjano's face quickly became one of irritation while Falarion furrowed his brows. Both then had the same thought, Aren't the gardens supposed to be a place for people to relax and enjoy the peace and quiet?
Deciding he wouldn't be able to focus on his book now, Manjano put his book away in his backpack and shouldered it on his good shoulder before Falarion picked up his ball while letting out a muffled sigh. He hated for moments like these with his companion to be ruined.
Making his way towards the exit, Manjano paused when he overheard two girls speaking with one another nearby. He instantly recognized one of the voices-Beth.
Sure enough, Manjano glanced skywards to briefly see Totus' figure flying about.
Feeling Manjano's discomfort, Falarion glanced up at him with a worried expression before thinking to him, You can't avoid her forever, mate. You two seriously need to talk about whatever it is that happened between you. You were very happy with her and she seems as hurt as you are.
Sighing, Manjano merely nodded at Falarion's thoughts before remaining where he was, as he felt uncomfortable approaching Beth while someone else was present.
@Flutterby @DawnAntalios (both mentioned)
Alec shot the other man a small grin. "You're lucky Duik loves peanut butter." He said. The pranks had been unexpected, but not unsurprising. Alec had fallen for the dye trick completely, only realising the slight purplish tint to his dark hair when he had looked in the mirror. Duik had been oblivious too and both had taken to the change in their own ways. Duik flaunted the pink shimmer and insisted on wearing a pair of neon raybands to compliment it. Alec took to mimicking Ash with his purple-tinted hair until he could wash it out.
He took Ash's compliment, trying to decide whether or not it was meant to be patronizing. "I don't know about 'master' but it'll be nice not to be defenseless if I ever get disarmed. Its always good to know that I can beat you on the range whatever my hand to hand skill."
Alec wasn't usually one for competetive rivalry, but he found it was a healthy way to deal with his initial dislike of Ash.
He took to watch Xiao, Leandra and Laohu as they practiced.
@Peaceswore
He felt a little guilty, remembering he had promised to show Xiao ranged weaponry himself, but the trainers had been much more experienced he decided it was better to let them work. Now he watched her with admiration as she coached Leandra.
"Hey Lea! You're fighting a tiger!" He called supportively. Being around Laohu it was almost easy to forget that he was one of the largest carnivores on the planet, Alec just thought he'd help keep things in perspective.
Duik looked genuinely distressed beside him. "Who do I cheer for?!"
@Lioness075 @crucialstar
"Affinity for combat huh?" Alec caught the deer's gaze as he approached. He couldn't really say he liked the sound of that.
"Well, if it keeps the team safe, I'll take it." What Eos said next shocked him to the point where he stared at the old animal with his mouth slightly open.
"Y-you're proud of me?" He could feel a warm feeling growing in his chest. It was psoitively alien, and he couldn't help but smile afterwards. He began to reflect on how much work he and Duik had put into their training. Eos's comment allowed him to start feeling proud of himself.
"Thanks, Eos...that means a lot."
@DawnAntalios
Just then Simon and Jimbo came up to them and Alec shot the man a look of sympathy. "That monkey better watch how often he pranks us all, we might decide to join forces and get him back." He laughed, still smiling from what Eos had said to him.
"How's agent Strong?"
@zCrookedz
Amber had been up and about for a few days now, though the doctors still banned her from trainig. Calista had turned into their little enforcer, Chastising Amber everytime she tried to pick up a weight.
"Arg, I'm wasting away! If I don't start building again I'm going to go nuts." She complained loudly in her own room for the benefit of only her civet companion.
"Its not so bad, at least they let you look at the case files. Darcy even let us brief the next mission for our little Watch babies."
Amber sighd and stood up. "I'm going to the gym."
"Amber."
"To watch. I'm going to watch other people train." She didn't sound too happy about it, which was why Calista believed her.
"Don't pick any fights." The civet said humourously. Amber stuck her tongue out at her.
The gym was fairly full it seemed. Leandra was sparing with Laohu, Ash and Alec seemed to be getting along, and Simon and Jimbo were wrestling with eachother. Classic.
She said nothing for the moment, merely approached and folded her arms across her chest, watching the goings on with a content smile.
Simon and Jimbo turned at the sound of others in the training room to see Leandra, Xiao, and Laohu. Simon was impressed, Leandra was making great progress and she was now getting Xiao to help her learn pressure points and ways to implement her quick fighting style. He was interested to see if she would try out her humorous way of fighting. Simon crossed his arms over his chest and continued to watch as Alec commented on Laohu being a tiger. He could feel the shiver run down Jimbo's back as he said that and looked down to see the ape sitting on the map watching closely.
At the sound of Alec's question, Simon turned to him with a smile.
"I haven't seen her since she was released, but she was starting to get a bit restless then. Lord knows what kind of itch she has now that she is on her feet again."
Simon returned his attention to Leandra and Laohu's spar. As he did, Jimbo looked up at Simon and noticed something odd poking out underneath the sleeve of the workout shirt he had worn to their spar. Jimbo's furrowed his brow and stood from the mat on his back legs and grabbed Simon by the shoulder. He quickly lifted the sleeve, sending Simon into a bit of a panic.
"Jim! What are you......crap"
63637_481832871028_5661292_n.jpg
(Just imagine it's on a big broad shoulder instead of a wrist xD )
Jimbo stared at what covered Simons right shoulder for a few seconds. The silver and blue art that followed the curves of Simon's chiseled arm stared back at Jimbo with a furious gaze. Beneath the art was the word "Compenso" and the six paired names of the Singapore team in nice cursive writing. Jimbo's eyes darted to Simon as he let go of his shirt and gave his brother a half-cocked smile as he stepped back to give it a look.
"That explains the shirt, but doesn't explain how you got it."
Simon looked down at his shoulder and chuckled to himself.
"Nigel did it. I got the idea after we got back from Paris. Went to talk to Nigel about it, and he came up with this crazy gadget that basically prints a flawless design onto skin. Hurts about as much as a real tattoo from what I figure. Nigel also came up with the Latin, said it made sense that way."
Jimbo smiled as he sat back down and reached for his water bottle again.
"Ah, and that explains the R&D visits. Well I like it. I think the others would too."
Simon smiled and looked back at Jimbo with a smile. It was then he noticed a new face entering the gym and he felt a bit nervous about his arm being exposed. He waved over to Strong as Jimbo turned around.
"I was wondering when you would show up down here. How ya feeling Strong?"
Barry sat in his room tending to the now flourishing flower. It was time to move it to actual ground or else it would suffocate its self with roots. Barry! Come on you loner. Go talk to the others... Stand next to the others I mean. Ha! See what I did there? You should cus you still have eyes. BB spat out at him as she flew into the stuffy room. With a gleeful smile, Barry stood up.
Wrapping a light scarf around his neck like always, he walked towards his gardening tools. Gathering up everything he took the plant to the peaceful garden. A few others were around but seemed to be minding their own business. He dug up a small section of land and placed the flower, with care, in the ground.
Come on Barry. We can do our little act and all. Make a good impression. It's only fair if we are going on missions with them! Putting a finger up to his mouth. He waved to the others who were trying to enjoy the time here. Well I never! She said while zigzagging around.
Zoe smiled a little when she noticed how Beth tried to adapt to her speech pattern. She had realized that it was probably not well suited for small speeches like this but... well that was how she used to speak for so long that she had forgotten that there was an another way. She looked at Totus flying up in the sky and started to think. The wind caressed her mind, urging her to go forward, to go and try to brave new, undiscovered waters. She had to, after all, if she was to know everyone better.
" I know that I am probably not the best company you could ask for. " she finally whispered, her words all but lost in the wind which had risen " I was trained in my whole life to be a war machine, a soldier who knows no mercy, no remorse and no fear. Yet all along I knew not friendship, joy or happiness either. "
She smirked, looking at her ashen colored blade.
" I envy you, Beth. I envy you for you somehow manage to tap into the souls of those around you. " she looked at her " Take Manjano for instance - the boy is a mystery, he seems to be clever, swift and despite saying nothing he is very compassionate. I know all of this because you were able to crack his shell, you were able to penetrate that strange barrier which sealed him off from others. "
She now looked at the ground, a small smile on her expression.
" I thought these emotional bonds to be redundant in the past: minuscule, worthless. But seeing how they are able to unleash the full potential of someone... they give you more power than hatred or determination could ever give. And that is exactly why I feel like... feel like... "
She was at loss of words, she never spoke about this normally, she was uncertain how to express herself properly.
" I was hoping to perhaps... somehow... change. To be more like everyone else here, you know. " she closed her eyes, she put her hands to the ground as she felt that she was trembling just slightly " I hoped to... perhaps make... to make... "
She gulped. She looked up and saw the new guy, the one she had seen around the training grounds waving at them. She nodded at him, signaling that he could come and talk to them if he wanted to but then her anxiety took over again. She clenched her hands into fists, grasping the grass underneath it before she finally managed to answer.
" Friends. "
Eos continued to smile at Alec with a gleeful joy. He was a bit surprised that Alec was startled by his comment - it was obvious that after they worked so hard that they would be proud of themselves - but the humility of Alec was both adorable and respectable. He nodded at him and spoke again.
" I speak only the truth, my friend. It is obvious that you and Duik worked hard and trained almost every moment you could - it shows. Your skills have grown and you seem to be ready for real battles. "
He paused for a bit, looking at Simon's tattoo and he felt pride surging through him.
" Most impressive, Simon. It is a masterwork - and it does suit you. You will strike fear in the heart of our enemies - and will char the lady you like so much. " he turned his head as Amber appeared " Speaking of whom... Welcome, Agent Strong. I hope you feel better now. "
As he returned his attention to Alec an idea sprang into his mind.
" Hmm, Alec, I have a question. " he said, a warm smile appearing on his face " Would you mind... having a friendly duel now that you have become so much stronger? I remember you commending my old bones how well could they fight back in Paris - how about we test your mettle against this old stag? "
"Youre fine company, Zoe. You may feel like youre too different from us, but youre not." Beth considered Zoe's next words, and wondered about them for a moment before shaking her head. "I wouldnt say I have a special key to people. I just know that life boils down to two things, joy and fear, and deep down, everyone is the same. Everyone has things they fear, and everyone has things that brings them joy. Hatred, anger, evil- in the end those usually boil down to fear."
Beth lowered her eyes from Totus, and looked at Zoe. "You already have made friends here. I would consider you my friend. Friendship is simple, its just sticking together to find the joy and fight the fear. You dont have to do anything special." Beth looked up at Totus, and smiled. "Having friends is as natural as having a companion, you just have to be willing to let it happen."
Beth's gaze lowered to the groud and she sighed. "But Im not sure if you should model your friendships after Manjano and I. We.. we have a lot of things in common , but.. well, our fears have made it difficult. Im not sure if its good for him to be close to me. I think.. I think our pasts put us at odds, in some way. I dont really understand it. I think he is afraid of making me afraid, but..."
Beth could feel Totus's surprise at what she had just said, but he didnt try to pry into her conversation. She paused, reconsidering, and then decided to keep going. Zoe had opened up to her, as a show of trust. Why not reciprocate?
"Sometimes people are afraid of the past so much that all they can think about is the possibility of it repeating itself. Everything becomes something from before, even when its not. Its like the most terrifying case of deja vu.. I dont Manjano to be caught up in that, when he could be finding the happy things in life."
Overhearing the other girl with Beth speak up louder, Manjano raised an eyebrow upon realizing it was Zoe.
While he wasn't overly fond of Zoe and how she too often spoke her mind, even when nobody was asking for her opinion, Manjano did want to see Beth again. He felt like he'd been acting like a child the past few weeks, avoiding her and just about everyone else. He needed to apologize to her.
Plus, Manjano had never apologized for abruptly leaving Beth after the cafeteria scene.
Cringing at that memory, Manjano then relaxed, as he took a deep breath before beginning to take a step out from behind the hedges he and Falarion had been standing behind.
Shoving his hands into his front pockets, Manjano tried to look relaxed, as he approached Zoe and Beth, unaware that the newcomers were nearby as well.
Just as he was within a few feet of Beth, Manjano froze in place upon hearing the last few statements Beth had said in her little speech.
Manjano's heart raced at what Beth was implying, even more so when she mentioned him by name and made it out to be like she felt as if she were keeping him from happy things by being around him.
Looking down at the ground while rubbing that back of his neck in an anxious manner, Manjano didn't know what do, especially since he didn't feel comfortable verbally communicating while around Zoe.
Falarion quickly helped Manjano out, as he let go of his ball and then excitedly said, "Hi, Beth! Hi, Zoe!" His tail wagged quickly behind him, as he wondered if either of the girls would be willing to throw his ball for him, though it was covered in his saliva now. Maybe it wouldn't be a good idea to ask them.
Go..goooooo! BB insisted as she kept slamming into his back. This lasted a few seconds before she became tired and rested in a divet from his scarf. Barry looked down and have her a wink. Getting up from the ground, he wiped away loose dirt from his pants and hands.
Adjusting the scarf a little, without disturbing BB, he motioned towards the group. If a hummingbird could smile that's what Bimpy would be doing right now.
Good boy. I can't be the only social one here. She dug herself into the scarf to the point that she couldn't be seen.
As he walked up the the group, Barry started moving his lips. In total sync with BB's words.
Hi everybody! It's nice to meet you. My name is Barry and my super awesomely amazing friend who in no way is underneath my scarf is named BB. There was a grin on Barry's face. It still cracked him up that she put so much effort into that last part.
Friend.
The words reverberated in the mind of Zoe as she tried to grasp the gravity of the situation. She remembered how they have initially met, how rude and preposterous her claims were... yet despite all that Beth still called her a friend of some sort? She looked at the girl, truly fascinated by her - but maybe it was not so incredible after all. Forgiveness seemed to exist within the hearts of her comrades, not something she was used to before but it felt good nonetheless.
With a faint smile she spoke.
" Thank you, Beth. " she said " It... it means more than you realize, really. When I was previously in a team to hunt down Rogues I was surrounded by team mates as well. They were well trained soldiers, they explicitly trained themselves just like me - to be ruthless killing machines. We shared but a single purpose - to find and root out the evil. No emotions, no bonds were made, the only thing that bound us together was our purpose. Still, it shook me when... "
She stopped, silenced herself as she listened to what Beth had to say about the past, about her worries. If anyone then she was the one who understood the girl perfectly. She looked at her palm and after a heavy sigh she spoke up.
" They say that the past is but a tapestry of what lies ahead. I wish to prove them wrong, to show them that we can erase the demons of the past and that our burdens - no matter how heavily they weigh - can be finally put down. " she waited for a moment, a quick determination flowing through her.
" I watched my allies die. " she whispered " All of them were torn apart by a feral beast stronger than I have ever seen. We fought bravely but none of them survived - their screams still wake me up sometimes at night. I have failed but one mission in my life and it cost me everything I have had. "
She looked at Beth, firmly.
" The past can not hold us as prisoner. If you truly care for someone, if you truly fear that something bad would come to the one you cherish - then first ask him as well. It was the decision of my comrades to stay with me and fight and even though it was but a sense of honor and duty they did not flee, nor did they left me to die alone. I avenge the memory of the fallen and honor their sacrifices by staying strong, hunting relentlessly. I... "
She realized that she was preaching and that they were not alone. She heard footsteps and at first she thought that it was the new guy who approached them - but terror overwhelmed her when she saw who were the ones coming: Falarion jumped forward, happily wiggling his tail, holding a strange ball in his mouth, shadowed by Manjano. Though she had not spoken with the boy at all she could feel the resentment he felt towards her - and truth be told she could not blame him. Every single time they met it... did not end very well, they were not on speaking terms - well, she was uncertain if Manjano was on speaking terms with anyone - but she tried to put on a surprised and joyful expression.
" Oh, welcome Falarion. " she said, then she looked at the boy " Manjano, I... we are glad that you have graced us with your presence. I do hope that you two also enjoy the quality time one can spend out in the gardens... it is truly... well, magnificent. " it was then when Barry also approached them and Zoe was at the verge of panic - she did not expect such commotion out here, especially not so many people coming together just to talk. She tried her best to calm down and not panic, they were just talking, what was the worse that could happen?
" Greetings, Barry, my name is Zoe. It is a pleasant surprise for us that a capable new recruit graces us with his presence. You and your companion are certainly welcome here, I do hope our goals align. " it was then when she realized that she started to speak weirdly again so suddenly she quickly turned to Falarion.
" Do tell me though why do you have that... ball...thing with you? Was it in your mouth? What purpose does it serve? "
Beth listened patiently to Zoe. She was becoming used to her; others might say she was overzealous, but Beth understood that she was simply passionate and her speech was her way of showing it. She made careful note of what Zoe revealed of her past, but they were interrupted by someone approaching. Beth's heart stopped when she saw it was Manjano. Her green eyes focused on him, and she couldnt decide if the pause in her heartbeat was good or bad. Her gaze only broke when Falarion spoke, dropping the ball. It rolled slowly toward her as she lowered her eyes to the happy maned wolf.
With a smile, she greeted Falarion warmly. "Hey, Falarion, Im so glad to see youre back on your feet. Ive missed you," Without meaning to, Beth's eyes drifted to Manjano on the last few words. They lingered, but darted away as Barry approached. She gave a polite smile and laugh, and waved. "Im Beth, the barn owl is mine, he's Totus." She glanced up, as Totus began coasting down toward them. He landed next to her, and cocked his head at Barry for a moment before glancing between Beth and Manjano.
"Hello everyone," He greeted, with a soft churr.
Beth smirked as Zoe asked about the ball, and reached forward to pick it up. "The ball, Zoe, is for something called 'Fetch'," She picked up the ball delicately between two fingers and prepared to throw it. "Think of it as a training exercise if you must, but it really is just good fun." She said, and launched the ball in a strong throw across the little clearing they were sitting in. As it flew, her eyes slid to Manjano uncertainly, then switched quickly back to Falarion and the ball.
Totus seemed to be ignoring Beth, and looked to the new person. "Well, we see Barry, but where is this BB?"
@DawnAntalios @Lioness075 @Bolts
BB froze up in the scarf. Her little heart beating twice as fast. Once the barn owl spoke of the whereabouts of her, she flung herself out of the scarf. Gahh!! Barry help! She yelled as she hid behind his head. I'm sorry, i'm BB. I didn't mean to mess with you T-T-Totus! That's right. Totus. I-i'm with Barry here and I-I uhhh. I'm sorry! She said while cowering behind his head. Barry brought his hands up and cupped her between them. He looked up to Totus, a very beautiful bird, and gave an acknowledging nod. He turned around as to not face anyone for the moment. He released his fingers and there stood BB looking fidgety as ever.
He blinked slowly at her and it caught her attention.
Barry... I messed up the skit... He shook his head with a dismissive manner. But I did! I jumped right out of the scarf! I don't do that till the second part! You know. The part where I say 'do you wanna see a magic trick?" while you shake your hands. Then I count down! and BOOM! hummingbird right to the face. The ol' BB surprise. Her voice was less enthusiastic than normal. She wouldn't even look up anymore. Barry signed something to her. The letter S to be exact. Sticking his tongue out towards her too. Yeah... I guess you're right.. Thanks Barry! He turned around with BB in hand.
Sorry a-about that folks. She said while obstructing her view of the Owl. It's just so NEAT to meet new people! What are you doing in the gardens? Why is everyone training so much these past few weeks? WHO WAS THAT BIG GRUMPY GORILLA NAMED JIMBO? I have to know. BB said quickly without much pause. She turned away from the owl a little more. A small cut in her wing was somewhat visible to the trained eye. BB climbed to Barry's shoulder now where she enjoyed being perched.
