Fantasy Call of the Sacred Wild

Endangered Animal List!

About 5 years ago, hundreds of griffins have been recorded and seen flying high. However, due to extensive hunting, Griffins have now been added to the endangered animals list. With highly expensive bounties for the bodies of griffins, as well as Griffin fur, beak, and talons Griffin fever has taken Kotrocor by storm.

griffin_by_douzen-d66lf45.jpg

How exactly does Streolund plan to stop these Griffins being hunted? Griffins tend to reside in the mountains in caves. Official mountain patrols throughout Streolund are taking it into their own hands to try and stop the hunters from killing them

Forest Fairies/Pixies

Forest fairies are abundant in the forests and reside there almost exclusively. In the past years, however, forests are being torn apart to hunt for these fairies, either for bounties or to keep as pets. Their wings and fairy dust have been rumored to hold otherworldly magic within them. It's these fairies that keep the forests growing healthily and are revered by the people of Streolund.

Forest fairies are tiny creatures who leave a small trail of dust behind them. They're known to be pranksters, but have never been recorded to harm anyone. However, there is one aspect that may have led to them being hunted: It's the phenomena known as Fairy Rings, a circle of mushrooms known to be a deadly zone. It's completely unknown what causes these Fairy Rings, and fairies have never been spotted near these. It's been said that stepping 2 feet into a Fairy Ring will cause them to dance and spin along with anything else in it and they'll go faster and faster until everything and the ring disappears. However, it's unknown if fairies have anything to do with it, and it's speculated that some toads, nymphs, and elves may be responsible.............................................

Rey sighed as he read the paper. He didn't even get through the entire news article. The fairies used to be friendly. They'd play tricks on travelers and maybe take some their stuff, but they'd always give it back and they never caused harm. The column pissed Rey off. Before the Assimilation, there were laws against hunting creatures like fairies and Griffins. It was restricted to smaller wildlife and the bigger wildlife known to cause harm.

He walked into the forest, seeing the noticeable lack of fairies, but sensing he was being watched by some. They were far too scared to make themselves seen, even to him, who grew up going into that forest. He had protected that forest religiously against any and all hunters.

"Tefora. I need you to scout for hunters."

Tefora nodded. "Can do. I'll be back." Tefora floated off.

Josh walked along the forest trees when some people came up to him. Naturally, they asked him if he'd seen any fairies in the are. Josh told them to piss off. This made them mad and he was help down and beaten. It didn't matter to him though. In a few seconds he'd disarm the guy who was beating him and beat up his friends.
Josh handled the beating pretty well, he was just waiting for the perfect time to strike...and...Now! Josh jumped up and kicked one of the guys in the face. The rest he just beat up. Man, they really didn't have a good trainer. They barely even put up a fight.

Josh fled deeper into the forest. He was going to talk to the fairies. That was the thing about earth magic, it came in handy when trying to talk to scared creatures. "Hey. Guys. I know you're here. It's me. Josh. Come out. Please." No response. Josh sighed and went deeper into the forest. Maybe he would go visit his dragon friends? They were easier to talk to.

Soon, he got really deep into the forest and saw a few people there. Strange, they didn't look like nature-haters. He walked up to them, he was about nine feet away. "Hey, who are you? I haven't seen you around these parts before. Are you one of them?" He strained his voice on the last word.

(What exactly are the followers of the Red Queen called?)

@Kylesar1
Tefora's voice sounded in his head as she pulled closer. "Someone's close."

Rey heard someone come from the bushes and ask if he was one of them. By them, he must meant a Raven. The Queen's troops were called Sanguine (or red) Ravens, or just Ravens. Either that or a simple Poacher

"Tefora." The floating familiar shifted its form into a giant basilisk.

He drew Krolora and pointed the sword at the newcomer. "No I'm not. You one of those hunters? I've come to this forest since I was little."

ChronosCoded said:
Josh was calm the entire way through. He'd come to expect people being protective of the woods. He laughed. "No, I'm not. I can assure you of that. I'm friends with the fairies...and the dragons." He smirked. "I understand you being protective. I've come here since I was little too. I actually just took out some of those guys. They were headed your way, which might be bad for you and the fairies." He looked back suspiciously and unsheathed his sword. "Precautionary measures." He said simply. "So what're you two doing out here?" He asked curiously.
@Kylesar1
"Tefora." She turned back into her normal form and floated around Rey's body

He sheathed Krolora. "I just read some bullshit about Fairy Fever. If you beat up the Ravens, that means they're gonna return with a bigger force. If you beat up some mercenaries, then it won't be a problem." Rey looked around. Not a fairy in sight. They were most likely still in hiding. "There's no point in trying to talk to the fairies. I'm returning at dusk." It was understandable why they couldn't reach the fairies.

"My name is Reynard Linares. I go by Rey."
He pointed at the floating being orbiting him. "This here is Tefora, my Familiar."

Josh laughed. "It's so cute. Hi Tefora." He turned back to the man. "Nice to meet you Rey. Yea, I heard about that too. I can assure you though, they don't have Fairy Fever." Josh looked around the forest some more. "I don't know why the fairies won't answer to me. I've known them since I was a boy. I practically live with them. Well, I live in the mountains with the dragons, but I visit when I can." He said.
Just then a man came through the woods. It was the man who beat him. "Uh, did I mention I dislike killing?" About thirty more people came through. "Okay that's just not fair." Josh had a thought. He could try something, but it would take lots of energy out of him. It was worth the risk though. "Dude, I know we just met, but catch me if I faint." He concentrated on the ground below them as the first man spoke about surrendering. He could feel his legs start to buckle. His forehead started to sweat. This wasn't going to work. It was stupid of him to try. It was too advanced for his level. Wait... He saw something. He saw a crack. Not a huge one, but a growing one. He concentrated a bit more, the crack got longer and wider until eventually the crack became big enough that they fell about halfway into the ground, and then the ground closed. It wasn't enough to get rid of them, they would likely dig themselves out. That didn't matter now, all that stress on his mind and body was horrible. So horrible, in fact, that he fainted. The best he could do was move his body in the mans direction. "Take me to the mountains." His eyes closed.
Rey sighed as the guy fainted, but clearly impressed by the spell he just cast. A big force. They couldn't leave either, or the men would hunt down and kill the fairies. "Hello men," Rey said politely when they got out of the pit

The apparent leader stepped forward. "Silence, peasant, and hand over that man. He attacked my men and he will pay with his life."

Wow. Straight forward with his intent to kill this guy who didn't give him his name. However, Rey hated the Ravens so handing over the guy was a nope. "Sorry, but no can do."

The leader drew his axe. "Then you can go to the Void with him!" The man charged.......

.........but was intercepted by a big blast of wind from behind Rey's back. All the men with him drew their weapons, waiting for the orders to attack

A figure flew in front of Rey's face. A fairy. An absolutely stunning fairy woman with long red hair and butterfly wings. Flowers blossomed on the ground and in the trees as she approached, and she gave off a very soothing aroma. Whoever this was, they were a powerful one. A queen? Princess? Fairy High Mage? She was in fairy form, so she was very small.

"Hello Rey," she said. She was incredibly soft-spoken and her voice seemed a bit hollow and sing-songy. "Allow me to help a bit." She flew down and touched Josh's unconscious body, healing him completely and should snap him out of unconsciousness.

"Wake up, Josh."

It had already been a long day's hike, but already the headaches were abundant. Fayar, a rather well-conditioned but poorly-performing refugee, found himself making quite a distance away from his original locale. Yet, he felt no closer to his home than he did now. Alas, with the world around him becoming filled with such envious beauty, a strong wind began to blow. By the Gods, how the weather changes so unpredictably. Yet, as the former.......... man once noticed, the wind had come not from divinity, but by the mystical Nymphs. This forest, as many knew, was filled with such creatures. Most of them, unlike him, called this place home. The human, seeing that the Nymph had created the wind, opened his visage upon the scene. Clearly there was conflict afoot, and it smelt of bitterness. At once, however, he recognized some of the people.

They were the ones he had fled.

Zabui started his swim around this big body of water in the middle of the forest it was deep in so he didn't expect any Hunters to come by, he would just swim nicely until he felt big enough to get something to eat. As he swam he became bigger but he heard humans ramble on as he was in the middle of his swim. He thought the Hunters must be here. He approached with caution he hid behind a tree.

He saw a faint glow and then he heard it the voice of a fairy, he looked back at the river. He must've slept while riding the river he was way closer to the fairies than he thought. He also was bigger than normal around the size of a gryphon, damn he should've noticed this. Wait why does this voice sound different and higher up than the other fairies, if it's her than something important must've happened.

Zabui looked again their were two humans surrounding her, they must be their to hurt her. He sat back and realized he must look like a really big black bush with a tail that has good on it he was surely going to be found.

Josh came out of it quicker than he expected. He assumed he'd be down for atleast half an hour. Something must've woken him up. It seemed unlikely seeing how exhausted he'd been, but now he felt much better. Powerful magic was amongst them. And he had a pretty good idea who, and what, it was. He jumped up filled with energy. "Wooooo! Did ya miss me?" He looked down at the fairy. He couldn't tell who it was just yet so he got a closer look. "Cyan! I knew it was you! I could tell! What've you been up to? Why won't the fairies talk to me?" He asked somewhat excitedly, yet concerned.
@Kylesar1
"It's because you 2 stand to defend this forest," Lady Cyan said happily. "As you know, we're not really strong enough to fight for long, so we aid the ones who fight for us." It was a consensus among the fairies to save them from being slaughtered by the men. Most fairies weren't strong in offensive magic or in physical strength but were powerhouses in defensive and support magic.

The leader of the men stood up and brushed dirt off him. There were some cuts on him. Lady Cyan must've used some Bladed Wind to blast him back. "So you decided to come on out. We hit the jackpot boys!" The men all started to cheer and laugh while all drawing their blades

All the men charged at the leader's command. Cyan put out her hand and a barrier appeared around them. "No time for celebration! We have to do something, and I have a plan!"

Rey stepped forward. "Uh......Cyan, right?"

She looked at Rey, nodding. "Yes. I'm Lady Cyan Moonwing, an adviser to Queen Titania."

"Nice to meet you, but what's the plan?"

Rey, meanwhile, noticed something out of the ordinary, which distracted him from Cyan. A black form that clearly wasn't a bush. "Tefora. Go see what that is. We have issues here," he whispered and pointed right to the black figure.

Tefora floated over to the figure and poked it a couple of times, expecting something magic to happen.

As Fayar found himself, not on a side allegiance-wise, but physically, the men he once called his own attacked him. Of course, knowing nobody, he decided to speak in a rather low voice. "Odd man rush 5 over 3's. Hit them on the left side NOW!" he shouted out, hoping his confidence was not an overreach. The man, drawing his sword, met an attacker, and parried the axe blow. Pushing to his right, he stabbed the assailant through the lung, puncturing it with his own axe. He fell to the ground, but not quietly. The man bellowed out. Oh how is stung to the ears, both emotionally and physically.

"Hey, I'm sensitive there. Why are you poking me, no seriously stop I'll come out already." What is this thing it's pretty small but I'm shrinking since I've been out of water I'm still drenched in it though so I'll be fine. Zabui rose up from his crouch the trees even seemed smaller when he stood up and it seemed like he would never stop rising the hit a thick branch, he looked at the human and it wasn't attacking the fairy so he didn't need to be on guard. He shook the water off of his skin and his size decreased (8ft) drastically.

"So Cyan I'm sorry about intruding on your territory, I fell asleep in the water again that's why I'm so huge. Please don't hurt me."

Cyan always showed him tough love she felt he always acted so childish and after that incident he wasn't supposed to be in his territory.

Krieves jumped from branch to branch. Hearing the sounds of chatter, getting closer and closer. When he reached the next branch he sat downing. Seeing a Little figure float over to what seemed to be a black bush. "Well, that's misplaced isn't it?" He said softly. As he watched from behind the one human, he saw a fairy looking at another human. "Well, this is most interesting isn't it? Oh Selen. How I wish you could see this." He positioned himself so he was crouching and grabbed his bow, seeing the Ravens. "It's been a while since we fought together." He set an arrow and aimed for one of the men. "Can you guys, ya know. Attack or something? I don't like killing people for no reason!"

"Yes I'd love to know the plan as well." He should probably get in contact with his dragon friends, if he didn't return soon they'd ravage the place looking for him. He also needed his supplies. He wasn't goon to just depend on his magic and abilities. "I'm going to need contact with the dragons. Can you try and do that for me?" He asked.

Lady Cyan unleashed a burst of wind inbetween both him and the guy he stabbed. The burst blew the man into the barrier and the guy he stabbed back hard, but healed him.

"All of you hush and listen." Lady Cyan had a sense of urgency about her as the barrier started to weaken and small cracks started to form. "We'll contact the dragons after this. We can't kill anyone here. Absolutely not. Death taints our residents. Here's what's gonna happen: Take them to the middle of the forest. The toads and leprechauns have been wanting a massive heist, so they set up a huge Fairy Ring. If you can get them all there, the ring will take care of all of them at once." Death in the forest would turn a fairy dark, plus it'd get the Red Queen on their tails. If they were to all disappear, it'd be written off as a fatal misstep, the Queen not caring for rookie mistakes.

"Sounds good. We all haul ass to the middle of the forest."

His light armor seeming to blend in with the rustling leaves and branches as he watched everything unfold below him. With his hood raised and mask up he was little more than a ghost to the high canopies, a green blur easily mistaken for a bird fluttering from its perch as he moved. His bright blue eyes watched the group far below as they discussed how to be rid of the group chasing them.

His movements were smooth and fluid as he slipped to the next branch, still watching. His hand instinctively reaching for feel for the blade that rested across his lower back. He did not draw however and seemed content to feel its cool weight in his hand before letting go. His breath silent and his movements masked by the natural rustlings of the forest agitated by the fighting below. For now.. He waited.

As the black haired human ran off. Krieves jumped from tree to tree fallowing him. "I'm go after him!" He yelled fallowing the one named Josh. "Boy is going to get himself killed..."

When he jumped to the next tree, he saw sim figure in the other tree line to his left. While not paying any attention to his own surroundings, his foot slipped and he lost his balance. Before he fell his hands gripped the branch and swung himself to the next regaining his balance. "Shit... I need to say focused." He stopped and looked at his surroundings below. "What the... Where in the bloody hell..." He turned around to see josh waiting behind him. He glared at the boy and jumped down behind him. "Why in the bloody hell did you run off?"

He did not want to try and make a crevice in the earth again. No way. He looked behind him, he couldn't tell if the barrier had broken. He kept running. Soon, he started to see light. Good sign, he was almost to the middle.
Soon he made it to the middle, but he couldn't find the fairy ring. Oh well, he would just wait for everyone to catch up and help find it.

"I refuse to taint this forest because you think you know more about us and our methods than we do," Lady Cyan said coldly. Fairies lived for trapping and capturing.

If this guy struck, it'd only make things worse, especially if he killed something and she wasn't having it. He already tried to kill one of them. "I know what I'm doing. You either help or you try to kill all of them by yourself."

Rey took off towards the clearing, heeding her words. He knew this forest like the back of his hand, so he crashed through with ease

Lady Cyan flew into the air, leaving the man alone to either fight or run

Rey made it to the middle, where some fairies were waiting with potions in their hands. "Drink this and hide. Invisibility. Stay out of the middle."

In the middle was a ring of mushrooms, covered by slightly taller grass, unnoticeable by charging men. Rey drank the potion and stood off to the side, invisible

Kierven sighed as the boy walked away, yet again. "This boy is going to be the death of me and I only just met him..." As he ran to catch up with him he saw The other human drink something and go invisible. Just as he saw Josh do the same. He himself waved a hand over himself and fell into darkness. 'What in the devils.' He thought to himself as he snapped his fingers and found himself in the shadows of the trees near where the other human had vanished. 'Humans, such strange creatures...'

Shiro continued to watch. Following and noting the potions. He has noticed the other presence up in the trees with him, his hand rested on the hilt of his blade as he dashed through the air with only the slightest rustle of leaves towards where Kierven had just been before vanishing into shadow. A trick Shiro was all too familiar with but couldn't do himself.

His ears stayed alert for any more movement from his new treetop friend in the shadows as his eyes watched the men walk directly into the huge Faerie Ring. He shook his head in disappointment apparently having hoped for a more interesting show. His intense eyes shifted to where the other two had vanished before he spoke quietly enough the others on the ground couldn't hear ." I know you're nearby in the shadows. Who's side are you on?" Was all he said. Never specifying wether he knew kierven's exact location or not. While he didn't actually know, his tone implicated that he did.

"Jeez! Stop having me run back and forth!" He ran back to the middle when he was handed a potion by a fairy, he didn't hesitate to drink it. He looked down, he was invisible. Nice. Finally, he saw the shield break and he saw the people who were trapped, heading toward them. Wonderful. Here it comes. They all stepped into the middle. He couldn't see what happened to them, he just knew they were dead. "Are we good now?" He asked Rey, knowing he was around somewhere
Lady Cyan grabbed Josh's hand and, with a burst of wind magic, threw him off to the side. "They said stay out of the middle, you idiot!"

All the men stepped into the clearing. "Now you'll pay for coming here!" Another mushroom sprouted on the outskirts of the ring, completing the infamous Fairy Ring.

Silence.............. The pupils of all the men dilated until they were huge. They all dropped their weapons and started laughing and hugging each other. They pulled out their rations and ate and drank. It was as if they were having a festival

Then some music started playing out of nowhere and toads and leprechauns and pixies all came out from under the mushrooms and started to dance on the tops of them. The men started to dance too

After about a minute, they all turned a pirouette and kept spinning. They got faster and faster faster faster until all one could see was a blur of armor/skin. They all glowed white and disappeared into thin air, as did the Fairy Ring

Zabui sat down next to Cyan, she was probably doing what she did best which was strategizing. He didn't run after the ring or chase after the people in trees simply because he didn't feel the need. He was the forest most prized possession or at least that's what he told himself when he was feeling down. But given he looked so odd most would run away so he usually hung out in the river letting the water pass through his gills.

Kiervans ears twitched when he heard the voice ring in his ears. "The side of the wilderness of course." He whispered, knowing all to well that this figure would hear him. "Why not come down and let me see what you really look like my friend. I'm sure you're not that ugly. I have seen worse." He chuckled quietly to himself and stepped out of the shadows. Now fully visible. "Ma'lady." He said walking up to Lady Cyan. "I'm sorry to have not thought about how deaths may have effected this land. Please forgive me for such rash decisions." He lowered his head and walked over to a tree and leaned against it. Wondering what the figure in the tree would do. "Do forgive my comment my hidden friend. It was only a joke."

Kiervan simply looked unamused. "Boy, you do understand that I am about 110 years old. Right?" He pointed to his ears. "I'm an elf, remember?" He tugged on Josh's ears. "You on the other hand, are a human." Then looked him up and down. "You also look like you're 18. So. Who is the kid in this situation?"

"Where'd they go Cyan. Seriously. I need to know." He asked, concerned. He may have hated these guys, but not enough to send them into oblivion. He wondered what the rest of the group were doing. He really disliked the elf so far. He treated him like he was a teenager. Well, he supposed it was alright. He looked much younger than he actually was. He looked back at Cyan, still wanting to know what happened to the hunters.
"I can't tell you," Cyan said, shaking her head. "They're not dead though. They just won't be bothering anyone anytime soon, and they definitely won't come back to this forest." The Fairy Ring is infamous for a reason. No one outside of the Fairies, Toads, Leprechauns, and Pixies could ever know what exactly happens, and most didn't know what happened

Rey looked around the forest. Clear now. Most the fairies were still in hiding, but a few more came out. He conversed with them, happy that they weren't too scared of humans to stay away from even him

Pulling the mask down slowly. " if we're playing the age game I have you both beat by a minimum of two hundred years.." He said with a light teasing tone. There was a Lightness to his voice though wether it was genuine or not it was impossible to tell.

Shiro looked human enough though his ears were still hidden by the hood drawn over his head. His bright eyes scanned the group from up close now taking in every one of them. The green cloth on his otherwise black armor shimmered lightly and shifted to a dark blue. Despite his relaxed appearance his hand was still wrapped around the hilt of his blade should he need it. However he wouldn't draw unless threatened.

Kiervan clucked his teeth. "Well. For a human you seem to know more than you put out when you run off from a group. Hmm, that seems a tad harsh. I swear that has no offence on your intelligence." Kiervan gave a soft smile. The child before him was being anything but rude, and Kirevan knew that he should learn to watch what he says and not be to rash with statements. He then turned his attention to the other stranger standing next to them. "Well then, I was wrong. You not as ugly as I thought. So why the need for masks my elven friend?" Three hundred some years, interesting. Kiervan also caught notice of the strangers hand resting on his hilt. "No need for weapons. We all fight for the same cause. Or, at least I hope we do?" He said, looking to the elf for confirmation.
