BloodLines

Antje blushed and playfully smacked his arm. "It's your bed, so you sleep in it otherwise it wouldn't be called YOUR bed, silly." She much rather liked him when he was being himself, which she happily saw that much of 'Luke' wasn't as much as a stupid persona than she'd figured. "And I kick and scratch and spoon in my sleep. You wouldn't want me in bed with you." she grinned. She was sleepy, too. And she'd probably knock something over or trip on things in the dark and she'd never admit it to anyone but she was afraid of total darkness anyways.

sighing Luke stood up and rubbed his eyes. Graving Antje’s hands he pulled him to her bed room and then picked her up and tossed her on the bed. Leaning over he tucked her into his blankets, then he graved a pillow and then threw it on the floor. “There, all snug.” He said sitting down on the ground, too late to complain now. Laying his head down on the pillow he placed on the floor he took a deep breath of her sent, more aware she really was here in his ‘house’.

“Sleep tight.” He said, closing his own eyes. He was unbelievably tired for some reason today, and the floor was not as uncomfortable as he thought it would be. He fell asleep a lot quicker then he thought he would. When he woke up, he felt really stiff. Sitting up he looked over to his bed to see sleeping Antje, she was adorable. He was also thirsty.

Yawning, Lucifer stood up and opened a closet with clothing in it, picking a few things he left the room and changed out in the living room. Throwing his dirty cloths on the couch, he continued on to walk into the room he kept his broken fridge. Picking something not all the bloody, he moved to the table and began to eat, not thinking much past the food in front of him.

Antje woke up a little while later, and she found herself looking up at the ceiling. She could tell it was dusk, or close to it, but it was really dark in his room, and she knew he had gotten up and she felt like she was experiencing the adventures of Helen Keller. She found her hair an absolute mess, what Tante would call 'Sex hair'. Not that she could see her hair, just from feeling it. She sat up and stretched, having slept better than she expected to. She'd sound like a dummy if ssaid old him how badly she could see in the dark. But he probably figured that out.

She'd yanked off her jeans before she'd fallen asleep, and she doubted she wanted to run around with her lily white ass hanging out, so she needed to find those before she did anything. They weren't in the covers, so she probably tossed them on the floor. But that wasn't helpful. He needed a nightlight, for reals.

Luke ate a good portion of the meat, mostly only sucking out as much of the blood before spitting the meaty part out. Finishing the entire steak, Luke thought he probably should hunt again sometime in the week. Hearing shuffling in the room he left Antje, he realized she must have just gotten up. Wondering if he should ask her if she needed anything, he got up and left his food on the table and shuffled to the room. Stopping at the door Luke called out quietly, “Antje, do you need anything?”

Antje laughed, embarrassed by the situation. "Sooo...I lost my pants." she finally said. She waited a moment. "Okay, so, like, I can't sleep wearing pants, because they..get in the way? I dunno. Anyways! I took my pants off before I fell asleep and I have terrible night vision..." She was literally blind as a bat. "Sooo.." she blushed "Will you help me find my pants? And maybe the door?" she wished she could see, then she could remake his bed instead of leaving the covers a twistedy mess. She felt really dumb, and she would die being seen half-naked by him.

“You have human vision….?” He said baffled. Dhampires can’t see in the dark? This was news to Lucifer. Flinging open the door Lucifer looked at her. He started at her a moment, appreciating her legs, because they were some cute legs. Lucifer was in no way a virgin and he has seen his fair sure of women, but he still found Antje rather cute, especially since she was blushing while he started at her. “You have some cute panties Miss Antje.” He said with a smirk.

Tearing his eyes away from her, Lucifer began to shuffle on the ground and the blankets looking for her discarded pants. Finding them on the floor on the toe end of the bed, Luke graved Antje and escorted her out of the bed room and then led her to the couch and sat her down. Handing her the pants he held, he chuckled and went back to sitting down at the table to finish his meal, not really saying much. Leaning about Dhampires was going to be an adventure for him.

Antje pulled her jeans on and arched her back to lay flat and put them on. She probably looked challenged, but she did that at home. She wasn't used to changing in front of anyone ever. She wasn't used to any sort of thing like that. She literally had never held anyone else's hand before last night. She still couldn't see well in the sitting room, but it was a little lighter.

"I can see in the dark if it's not in an enclosed space...It's dumb. I can do some stuff but some other things either don't work, haven't started yet or whatever..." she liked being able to talk about it for once with someone, instead of having Tante just write shit down in a report like she were a patient in her clinic. And the reports were sent to her parents and then to the Magics and then nothing happened.

“Ooh?” He said, chewing quietly. “you are still a developing Dhampire yes? So in other words you are still getting powers and wired things?” Luke could not find a better work then things. Finishing his meat, Luke threw away the pieces and then came to sit next to Antje.

“I wanted to let you know I thought about the telepathy link, I also thought about your life. You-“ he stopped mid sentence, he was not sure he was approaching this the right way. “Use it with me whenever you like… once I get use to your mind, I should not freak out if you ever reach out for me. If you ever need anything, tell me and reach out to me. I will answers, since I obviously have nothing better to do.” He felt a little nervous telling her this because he was afraid she might take it the wrong way.

Antje smiled, taking it the way he meant it. She was happier feeling less alone.

"I know what you mean..." she smiled. She felt sort of awkward, too.

"Do you have work today?" she blurted, thinking about the rest of the evening. Oh. Well..Maybe he was bored of her. She combed her fingers through her messy hair, feeling stupid. She wondered why she was more self conscious than before. But he seemed the same way. Which made her wonder why that was.

Luke sighed he has no work today, which means today was going to be unreliably boring, “No work today.” He yawned a bit. “Why do you ask?” He shifted his weight so that his elbow was on his knee and his face resting in his hands.

(This is the shortest I have ever written... I feel ashamed. xD )

(YEAH, REALLY. xD It's okay. lmfao)

Antje shrugged.

"If you're bored of me I'd understand, but do you want to maybe do something?" she cringed at herself, but she didn't exactly care very much. "I mean, I need to check in with Tante, and brush my hair and teeth...but do you want to maybe do...I dunno.." she looked down, biting her lip.

She sounded so nervous asking him. “Oooh Miss Antje, are you asking me out on a date? I am flattered!” Luke said, grinning down at her.

“Before you go I must really ask you is you caretaker, ehem Tots er… Tante, I think you said. She couldn’t possibly smell me off you could she? That would be bad for me.” He tried not to sound worried about it, but it was something to worry about.

Antje grinned.

"Lucky for us she's a phlobotomist. She's around blood all day every day, so she literally can't smell anymore." Which was probably very lucky for them. Plus Antje's recent move to the attic gave her only one way in; through the fire escape. She could go into the house through the pull down stairs, but she couldn't reach the cord for the stairs, if there was one, which was a very interesting safety measure. She could be in the attic, and it would be nearly impossible to reach her from inside the house. The iron set of stairs had a ladder you had to sort of jump up to reach, but it looked like it led to a second floor window that was really just close to the floor of the attic. Very safe, but very lonely. She often felt like Anne Frank.

"Besides, my room is kind of a fortress. There's no way in through the house, and you have to climb up through the fire escape, but it doesn't look like it goes to the attic. It's like a vault." Or a cage. She quietly amended.

"I keep a lot of lights on...And I can't block my window out. But she doesn't come up a lot, she knows I like my privacy...My parents didn't like my old room. My mother hated it the most." She wasn't sure why she was telling him this, but she sort of wanted to share it with him.

"My father met with Tante to try to compromise... He helped her pick a more...elegant style for my room, and we took all my stuff down and put up all the stupid shit I guess I was supposed to have in my room that would suddenly increase my value to my mother, and I moved into the attic. He liked the idea of how safe the attic is... So..yeah.." she finished, looking over at him.

“I am not sure if you were trying to convey to me that you like your attic room or you hate it.” He laughed a bit. “It sounds like you hold a grudge against your parents a bit… Take it from me when I say your parents really do care about you… They sacrificed a lot to keep you alive.” He said, talking slowly so he did not step on a mine. Taking a deep breath and made a quick subject change, “It gets lonely after a while, spending time alone in a place. I spend a couple days at Rick’s sometimes. Speaking of Rick, what do you think of him, for a human?” He reached his arms out to lay across the back of the couch, leaning back and closing his eyes.

Antje smiled. "He's a funny guy. A little clueless, but he seems like a loyal friend. He's like a puppy." she laughed. His teasing was funny, like an older sibling in a sense. "He's the kind of human you'd like to be if you were human..." she added, not exactly directing 'you' in her example. Luke..Er, Lucifer, Antje corrected, looked tired from what she could see of him. She felt guilty that he'd slept on the floor, he probably didn't sleep well at all.

"You look sleepy.." her pang of guilt transferred to him, a useful tool for expressing emotions, or thoughts if she had a hard time putting it into words.

“huh?” he said at first, but then he received the thought of him on the floor of his own bedroom and her feeling guilty. It was strange, the intrusion in his mind, it would take some getting used to. “Oh, no, I told you it is fine. Maybe a nap while you go check in with your care taker. Where did you want to meet for our date Miss Antje and what time?” He asked casually. he leaned a little closer to her, "Maybe get a real drink too, you look just as pale as yesterday. I have no idea how you would be a blood source for Vampires when you don't even look like your a proper blood source for yourself." He said, with genuine baffled.

Antje blinked. She wasn't a blood source, and she figured she never really would be for anyone. Was that what she was?

She found herself shrugging at that. "My metabolism is weird..." she sighed. "Humans are supposed to drink 8 glasses of water a day to be hydrated. I'm usually supposed to drink about six full units of blood a day because my body is kind of cannibalizing itself. And then I'm supposed to drink lots of water and try to eat some human food. I hate it." she murmured. She was too skinny. She didn't like to really stick to her diet, but she knew she'd have to do better soon. Or at least around him. He seemed pretty concerned about that.

"She'll probably make me take stuff with me if I'm going out again." She'd done that before, but she'd feel like a weirdo if she carried around a sippy cup all night. She sort of really hated to eat in front of people, too. At least no one encouraged hunting. She was spared that shit, thankfully.

His idea was probably good; she'd go home, shower and stuff, and then meet him again after for a...date. A date? Thats what he called it. Christ, what do you even do on a date?

"So, what's the plan, then?" she blushed a little.

Lucifer looked at her for a long while, She did not know about being a Damphire? He wondered if they never told her anything. Probably not, if she knew what she was capable of, the Magic would seriously have to step up to kill her. No wonder there has been any attempts on her life yet. But she must be completely in the dark… the only thing she knows is that she is a extremely washed out version of a Changeling. He needed more information on her, on Damphires, but where would he even go about getting that kind of information from? Perhaps he could—

Lucifer almost did not catch what she said he was so deep in thought, “What? Oh sorry… hmmm well I took up your time yesterday, so you did not yet get to paint right? How about you take me out on an adventure of color Miss Antje. We can meet in the park in 3 hours.”
And I can hunt, because I feel like I need blood. So soon from when I last hunted which was not even a week ago. What is wrong with me? Lucifer thought to himself a bit fursiaghted.

Taking Antje’s hand, he lead her to the door and opened it. Walking them both out, Luke closed it behind him. “I will meet you at the park Miss Antje in 3 hours, I need to go talk to Rick a bit and apologize for yesterday.” He lied smoothly. “Be careful going home.” He waved her off and then walked towards the park. Slowly he felt himself moved from Luke to Lucifer to hunt.

When he arrived at the park, he knew his gut was telling him there was a meal to be had here. Walking around for a few minutes he finally came across a girl who was sitting on the bench crying.
Bing Go, He thought. Approaching her Lucifer began to leak the pheromones to charm, calm and numb people into a state of near fuzzy zombie feeling. “Miss, why do you cry? You are too cute to do such a think.” She looked up at him, unsure but she knew something was pulling her in. He sat down next to her and talked to her for about an hour, she cried some more, complaining about her friends and rumors. She was a college student; she went to the same college as Rick did.

After a bit longer, Lucifer new she was pretty ready for him to feed on. Taking her hand he kissed it and she blushed with a daze. Leaning in Luicfer bit her, on the neck. Because she was so numb she probably didn’t feel it, and if she did, the bite probably felt pretty good to her. Vampires are like a drug for some people, they can’t get enough of the feeling. Feeding till he was satisfied, he licked her wound to make sure it would heal properly. She fell asleep while he was eating so he just let her lay down on his lap. She should wake up in a little once her body catches up with the loss of blood.

Sighing, Luke ran his hand through his hair, running through the lie he would tell her when she woke up, send her home with a smile and tell her as a friendly stranger to take better care of herself. The emotionally stressed were the easiest targets when hunting. Regardless, he felt so satisfied now. He seriously hoped Antje was not the cause of his sudden hunger, because if she is he may need to take her in smaller doses or hunt more often.

Antje figured he was probably doing the same as her, feeding and kinda freshening up. The thought of him hunting was enough to make her want to choke, though. He clearly dripped sexuality, and he was probably a predator to women, sexual or not. Maybe she was setting herself up. She didn't need to like him like that, but he knew so much about her. She doubted she'd ever tell anyone nearly as much. Whatever. Don't like him like that and you'll be effing fine. She slipped downstairs to face the music, the awkward slip back to normal. "Wo bist du gewesen?" she'd barely gotten down the stairs when she saw Tante, her light blond hair and dark green eyes a major contrast to Antje's dark hair and yellowy brown eyes. She was adopted all right. "Oh! Hallo...Also...Ich habe einen Freund, und es würde spät, und ich beschloss zu bleiben über und hängen..Und ich kam nach Hause, und ich gehe zurück später..." The last part she blurted, giving Tante the familiar smile/cringe she gave her when she wanted permission. Tante looked at Antje for a long time before she softened.

"Und wer ist dein Freunde?" Antje cringed.

"Sein Name ist Luke.."

"Ein Mann?!"

"Ich wolte nicht mit ihm schlafen!" Antje broke out into English, the only way she knew how to tell Tante the truth and have her believe her.

"We didn't even sleep in the same room, Tante! I would NEVER do that." Tante recoiled a bit, but she believed her. She wanted Antje to have friends, but there was a lot at stake for her to have human friends. Unless..

"Is he a changeling?" Antje bit her lip.

"He's a vampire..." which pretty much meant the same thing. Tante narrowed her eyes. "You need to be careful. You can't tell him anything, even if you trust him." Antje blinked.

"Of course..." Tante sighed. "I'll let you go out again if you promise to return with an empty container. And don't pour it out, I'll know." Antje nodded and headed for the shower. She washed her hair twice in her favorite shampoo so that she could smell it. She had no idea what she would wear. She needed comfortable, bummy clothes that she wouldn't be heart broken over if she got paint on them..But she wanted to look nice at the same time.

She settled on a tank top and her skinny jeans with her light-gray peacoat that had been replaced with another peacoat for the school-year. She even put on make-up. She went out the front door with her paint in her napsack and the industrial-sized water bottle that had her entire daily servings in it. She made her way to the park in a remarkably good mood, she hadn't been this happy in a long time...

Luke yawned, unbelievably bored now. The women on his lap stirred, about an hour later. One more hour until Antje gets here. “What… happened?” She asked, looking at Luke. Luke gave her a small friendly smile, “You cried your heart out until you passed out right on my lap. You should really go home and take care of yourself better.” Luke said, rehearsing the lines he had said in his head earlier.

“Oh my gosh! I am so sorry.” She said, standing up.

“Please, don’t worry about it really. I hope things get better for you at your school, you seem like a sweet person, be safe on your way home, the dark alone is not place for women.” Luke said, which was ever truth, he was not as cold hearted as he liked to lead some people on to believe.

The women gave him a bashful smile and thanked him, leavening him alone to think for himself. At first he did not think anything, just sat there in delight of a full stomach of blood. For a bit he began to wonder why he is so interested in helping Antje. Why he was so interested in her at all. She was tinny and cute, but that was hardly anything to really be truly interested in. Well that’s not true, there was a lot of interesting things about Antje. Why did it feel like he was getting himself into something horrible?

Antje found him at the bench from the night before, and she smiled when she saw him.

"Hey.." she smiled wider. He looked like he was thinking, and she didn't know what he was thinking about, but she wouldn't try to know, even though she could. She trusted him. And if he didn't want to tell her, she wouldn't be mad. She'd heard of lots of conniving vampires using their abilities to better know what others were doing, secrets, finding crimes. Finding things people don't want other people to know.

She plopped down on the bench, zipping her bag open.

Gazing down at Antje when she sat next to him, he smiled back at her, a more honest smile then his joker face. “Hmmm Rick wasn’t at work, so I just played around the park for a bit. You smell like soap Miss Antje.” Leaning closer he smiled at her a bit, “I like your smell better.” He wondered if that what was made him hungry. He really did need to find a way to learn more about Dmphaires, more for his sake then hers. Especially if he was going to run around playing games with her. He just had no idea where to start.

“So where too Miss Antje? You lead the way since you are the painting expert.”

Antje smiled shyly.

"I didn't think I smelled good to you. I thought I smelled like a vampire mostly." She wouldn't really know her own scent, though. Besides, it clearly attracted him, so that was good, she guessed. She took out her stupid, huge water bottle and set that down while she rifled through her bag for her beat-up folder that had some of the things she drew in school but planned to paint later. She had the profile of a woman with writhing green snakes for hair, she had a print of plastic vampire teeth that children used for costumes, she had an anatomically correct heart next to a cartooned heart, and finally she had a picture of the large castle place, the home to the elite families and parliament and the current king/royal family. The castle was in a snowglobe, where she imagined it to be. She'd never seen it in person, but Tante had, and Tante showed her paintings of it that her parents had allowed.

"I dunno. I'm not sure what I'm in the mood for painting tonight... What's your favorite?"

“Medusa.” He answered simply, flipping the pages back to the women with snake hair. “Her story is a sad one, did you know?” Lucifer took his usual position with his elbow placed on his legs and his cheek resting in his hand, his free hand rested on the page of Medusa.

“Did you know Antje, Medusa was a maiden in love with a god. She loved that god fiercely; his name was Posiden, the god of the sea. Posiden and Medusa desiccated Athena’s temple in the act of forbidden love. Athena was furious, unable to act against Posiden, she took her anger out on Medusa. She cursed Medusa, leaving her to never seek the attention of another male counterpart again. It was never Medusa’s fault, she was just a women in love. Posiden also courted Medusa’s three sisters. No loyalty at all, gods feel like they can do anything they want in Greek mythology.” Luke finished and smiled at Antje.

“You may not be in the mood to paint, but I think I am, if you would be so kind to let me play with your paints, what do you say Miss Antje? How about this time you sit in the shadows and talk to me while I paint?” He asked with a light laugh, referring to the few days ago when they meet. That’s right , they have barley meet each other, but yet he feels like he has been around her for months.

Antje knew of the story, but only the few details from Jason and the Argonauts. She always didn't like how volatile and self-serving the mythical gods were. But again, their behavior was mirrored by the families, who were gods in some vampires' eyes.

"Just don't get paint all over you." she smiled, sticking out her tongue. "I'd hate to see you ruin your clothing." she said playfully. He wanted to paint? That was delightful to her, someone who liked art. She didn't think she had anything interesting to talk about, though.
