Blood and Water (♠ Blue Suit ♠)

((Maybe she can try to poison his food and a food tester does and they discover it's her cuz no one was in the kitchen? Or everyone there was trusted. Or he can just assume it was Tome. Also, should we skip to the trip? They're not really don't anything lol))

(Oh I like the sound of that! Maybe because she was Tome's slave and other people are suspicious of him, both of them are sent to jail, or dungeons, whatever they have there. She is then interrogated, and though she is reluctant to speak at first, in an attempt to spare Tome of the guilt she tells them everything, hence, telling them Tome had not sent her to kill the king. Later on Tome is told about what Mia revealed and therefore released, though he may not be told about the part were she had agreed to speak so that Tome wouldn't be punished alongside her, he may even be told that for a moment she had tried to blame it all on him until she finally broke down and spoke the truth. He would feel much more betrayed then xD Until he finds out about the truth, that is, or something like that)

(And I agree with the trip thing ^^ They are truly not doing a thing)

((Ooo,plans ^_^ lol should we have them both be hurt at first, though, so she feels more guilty and wants to stop it? Oh, maybe to save her he can tell someone, maybe the king, that Mia was trying to kill Tome, not the king. And then the king would be more lenient. . . .cuz he hates him lol))

It took a lot, in the next few days, to get Fawn ready. He had to send for a few extra supplies, the finest carriage the King could send - the King would do anything for his precious daughter, and it was the only reason Tome was allowed the requests. When everything was said and done, everything Fawn needed packed in and a few bags for Tome and Mia, they started out. Tome was glad he had at least been able to leave long enough to get Mia clothes that fit and were proper, so that she wouldn't stand out quite so much at the castle. He had a feeling he was going to have to help her with etiquette, but if she pet her mouth shut like a good slave, they would all be fine.

(Poor Tome! But I have to agree! The both of them can be hurt and after that Mia is brought to a room separate from his and told that they would punish them both again if she does not speak. So she feels guilty and finally speaks) (Who would tell the king that? Tome? And also, does he trusts her yet?)

Mia looked down at herself as they headed off. It had been a while since she had dressed.. nicely. She sighed a bit before she glanced to the outside from the carriage. Where were they going anyway? The trip's date had come and still she didn't really know which was their destiny. Well it was not like she wouldn't be finding out at the end anyway. She had been helped to sleep the other nights as that one morning and she could feel rather grateful about it now, for she knew she would have not been able tot do so by her own. The days had gone by and still she hadn't planned out anything on her mind. It was like she was having an inner war with herself.

((Tome would tell the king, or someone close to the king, to save her, I suppose just reasoning that she hated him for buying her and wanted to be free? We'll say he does trust her. Maybe as a sign of that trust, he'll leave her with Fawn while Fawn's sleeping, and that's when Mia has the opportunity to run off and try to kill the king. Double betrayal 'cause she leaves Fawn alone!))

Tome knew the journey would tire Fawn so he babied her, had her sit next to him on the cushioned seat and put her head to his shoulder, an arm around her and a hand running over her hair. "I know it's a long away," he whispered softly to her, his head turned so that his mouth was all but pressed into her hair. "But you'll get to see Mother and Father again," and even if he would never call them those things to anyone, he said them to her because she loved them and had no reason not to, not like Tome did. "You'll have your own room, and a real doctor at your side."

She sighed contentedly and muttered against his chest, "You're a good doctor. . ."

He just pressed a kiss to the top of her head. "You're strong. I know you are."

(That sounds like a plan! ^^)

Mia had been absentmindedly staring at the road, silent. She didn't get to hear the mother and father thing and the only time she turned her gaze to them was when Tome pressed his lips against Fawn's head. She wrapped her arms around her without noticing it, somehow missing Elliot's warmth. She looked away then, leaning her head against the carriage. She just wanted to be there soon.. To wherever they were going she just wanted to arrive. She was not really fond of trips after all. So she closed her eyes as she tried for all the sounds to become background faint noises.

The seats were comfortable enough that they were able to sit and lean against the back, facing each other, and play a little card game she had taught him long ago. She was winning, of course, because he had been good at most everything once it was drilled into his head but could never quite grasp the concept of games. He had never had a childhood that allowed it. But it made Fawn smile and laugh when she one, and she always encouraged him to try again even though they both knew he would fail miserably every time, so he just kept going. It kept both of them from worrying too much a out the trip.

Mia had pretty much maintained her eyes shut through the entire trip. She could still hear Tome's and Fawn's voices but she kept them out from reaching her, thus, she didn't really get what they were talking about. She used her inability to sleep to cast herself to memories of the past. Though sometimes it pained her, it maintained her mind occupied. As such the time went by much more quickly than Mia would have thought and when she finally decided to pry her eyes open she blinked at her surroundings. Then realization hit her, and she felt her breath had been blown away.

The palace!? She panicked, though it didn't reach her face. And if they recognized her? She was practically a carbon copy of her mother! Though her hair was of a much more light color. It didn't last long though before she calmed down, the king wouldn't recognize her. Mia couldn't help it but think he would have surely had other lovers, he would surely not remember her mother. Though it made her feel bitter for a split of second she thought it was maybe for the best.

When they were perhaps ten minutes from the castle, Tome cleaned up their game and hid it away, his posture more and more stiff as they got closer. When the carriage stopped, he exited first and helped Fawn carefully out to the ground, just waving for Mia to follow because he couldn't be nice to slaves here. Hsi father would look down on him for it if she didn't obey. He took Fawn's arm to steady her as Mia got out and servants unpacked their bags. When they stopped at the doors, he stood at attention and gave a slight salute, but was for the most part ignored. He'd grown used to it over the years, but knew also that if he didn't show that sort of respect that was ignored, he would get himself in trouble for it.

Mia was slightly taken aback by the cold way Tome seemed to be treated. He seemed to be... ignored? She suppressed a frown as she quietly followed behind them. Now she had been wondering this from time to time but was he really the king's son? He didn't behave like that nor was treated accordingly to his title. She tried to push those thoughts as she stepped inside the castle, a shudder running up her spine. But.. Hadn't this been the place where she had wanted to be all along? Hadn't she wished to enter that place so that she could take revenge on the king himself instead that on Tome? She pursed her lips together a bit. That was her chance! And it was so refreshing to know she had been given a chance to something she had been dying for, for years.

((I suppose we'll have to wait a day or so for her to procure some sort of poison lol))

Tome took Fawn to meet her parents, where he greeted the king with a bow and a quiet "My Lord." He was ignored, of course, and just stayed off to the side as the King walked Fawn back to her mother and they spoke amiably. Tome took the opportunity to glance at Mia while they were - sort of - alone. "Do as I say or we'll both be at the whipping stand." He said, careful not to be overheard or to move much and draw attention. "Understand?"

(True.. Hmm will they be going out of the castle? If so I'll just make her buy it from a strange 'person' in the market xD )

Mia had yet again been surprised by the king's cold demeanor towards his own son but had maintained her mouth shut and her expression void of any emotion. She had followed the king with her sight for a moment, so that had been the b*stard who had tore her family apart before turning his back on her mother. She clutched on her clothes lightly, a burning rage slowly rising up. However, she was snapped of it for a moment when Tome spoke to her. She glanced at him and though for a moment she couldn't make a think out of them when she finally understood she gave him a nod.

((That works lol maybe they'll send Tome on some sort of errand. To tell the doctor to get ready to stay at the castle a while or something? Ooooo, maybe she can swipe something there?))

He nodded once, though he wasnt so reassured by her slow reaction. "Keep your head, girl, or you'll lose it." This was not a place for her to take the liberties he'd allowed her back home. Because this place, no matter how much Fawn loved her parents, their father and her mother, this would never be home. That small place with no one around where he could spend his time with the only person that had ever truly loved him - that was home. It would always be home.

(Like in the doctor's house? Oh would do so! Like she can snatch something from there or something like that. So she would be like accompanying Tome on that errand?)

Mia blinked and nodded again "Understood" She said softly though much more firmly this time. She was truly having her head elsewhere, if only as she tried to find a way to kill that man. Yeah.. That was it, as soon as she had seen him, all smiles towards his daughter, she just wanted him gone. He had denied that kind of care to little Elliot. So she would just 'take care' of him. He would regret it, she would make him regret it.

((Yep :) plans lol))

Tome kept still and silent after that, just waiting. He was called over, after a long while, and greeted kindly, if not warmly, by the queen. She, at least, hadnt wanted to harm him, but neither had she shown him any warmth in his time here. He was a half-breed after, a disreputable, horrid being just for being born. He was us to it.

He walked Fawn to the sitting room where an attendant waited and the king and queen settled in with Fawn to talk and drink tea and do what they wished without interruption. Tome himself was given an order, to retrieve the doctor and tell him to prepare for a stay. With only a nod and a bow, Tome turned on his heel and walked out, nodding his head to Mia to get her to follow. She did, thankfully, and he just took her towards the stables to get a horse. He was lucky he needed speed or he would've had to walk. He would've had to be away from his sister too long.

Mia raised her eyebrow when Tome turned to her but without a single word on her behalf or even the slightest hesitation she followed him. She had missed the part where he had been told where he had to go, due to her mind being practically elsewhere. Just then she realized Tome was right, she would better keep her head, she could think about her.. 'things' later. As they reached the stables she couldn't hold back a small smile, it had been a while since she had been in one of those. She quite liked it to be honest.

Tome picked out not the best but the 'worst' mount for them to take, purposely. It wasnt a bad horse by any means, but not the best of course. He was never allowed the best. He gave the mare a few treats and petted her kindly as he saddled her because she had always been good to him. He wondered if she remembered him, and was glad she looked to have been treated well, still. He got up on the saddle, finally, and held out a hand to Mia. "Get on. We want to take care of this quickly."

Mia took Tome's hand and used it to push herself up, managing to get up on the saddle almost effortlessly. Man.. It had been quite a while since she had last rode a horse. She tilted her head to the side a little "Where are we going?" She finally asked. Though she had missed it before, she was now sort of curious. Like.. What thing did he wanted to take care of quickly?

Tome made sure she was settled, then clicked his tongue at the mare and squeezed her sides with his legs rather than kicking her like some idiots did. She started walking out of the stables. "We're going to retrieve a doctor that used to care for Fawn before I took her away." He said, keeping his posture stiff and alert as they went just in case anyone paid attention to them. No one did. "He'll be staying at the castle for the duration of our stay here."

"Oh" Mia said simply, gripping the saddle behind her with both of her hands. She tilted her head to one side as they exited exited the castle. It was so... Big. That was the most fitting word she could come up with. She didn't get the feeling it was really comfortable, maybe it was because some of the people who lived on that place could be so cold. She sighed a bit "So won't you be the one watching over her this time?" She finally asked after a while. She couldn't really picture him away from his sister, being it that he really did seem to dislike that quite a lot.

((Sorry, computer pooped out and then things happened lol))

Tome just shook his head, hands tight on the reigns, and kept his eyes forward. "Straighten up and keep your head down. Eyes on my back." Slaves were supposed to be subservient and she didn't do that well. "I won't be watching over her. I'll have other duties while here." Namely, being nowhere near a place where he could be recognized as the King's illegitimate son. He would probably be caring for the horses or helping train new recruits. The older, more experienced soldiers like to 'demonstrate' by fighting him with unfair numbers. He was used to it. He could take up to five of them at once, but not more than that, not the way they fought.

(No worries! x) )

Mia looked up at his head at his request, brow raised. She couldn't hold back a frown but she did as she was commanded. She straightened her back and lowered her head, keeping her eyes on his back. So he wouldn't be taking care of her... So would he like... Do prince's stuff and such? She bit her tongue not to ask, she didn't want to be so nosy. So she just stared quietly from the corner of her eye at her surroundings, her head brushing lightly against his back. Now that she thought abou it she had never really been in such a big town. In fact, she hadn't really been on many places. Just her old house in the woods, the town where she worked as a slave and well.. Tome's house she supposed.

( Hmm... Should I have Mia poisoning the king's food that very night? Or should we wait for at least a day to go by? What do you think?)

((Sorry! Could've sworn i replied! Maybe the next day she'll do it, after seeing the King's meal routine?))

Tome just stayed silent the rest of the trip. When they got to the doctor's house, he got down off the horse and let Mia tie it to a post before she could follow him in. He talked to the doctor's assistant for a while before being able to see the doctor himself, and waved Mia away. "Wait here, all right? I won't be long." He had to help the doctor pack, and make sure everything was done quickly and all that Fawn needed would be present.

((Ill probably sleep before I can post again, gotta get up early))

(Ok, so the next day it is ^^)

Mia nodded and did stay and wait patiently where he had left her. Nevertheless, as she was left alone she couldn't help it but quietly walk around the place she had been brought to. She wouldn't be noticed, at least not by people who were not used to pay attention to everything around them. So when Mia reached what seemed to be a storage room, she stopped on her heels and stared at the place in amazement. There were so many things stored over there. Mainly bottles though, medicine maybe? Then, a particular one caught her eye and, as if driven by curiosity, she headed to the cabinet where it was stored.

It was... poison? That's what it had written after all. Now why would a doctor own poison and even more why would he store it among the medicine he used? Maybe it could be used for something good. She had heard that sometimes an illness could be cured by other illnesses' viruses or something like that after all. Oh, or maybe he was studying the poison to come up with the cure? She nibbled down on her bottom lip unconsciously before being startled by what seemed to be heavy steps nearing the room she had gotten herself into.

Mia didn't really know why or how but, as if her body had just moved on its own, she was already holding the poison bottle on her hand and was tossing it into one of her pockets. She then rushed to the door and after waiting for the steps to walk past it and then keep on walking, she slipped out of the room and practically ran silently back to the spot where Tome had left her when they arrived, her heart beating wildly, mainly because of what she had done.
