Blood and Water (♠ Blue Suit ♠)

"Is that so?" Mia tilted her head a bit. She tapped her fingers softly against the table before speaking again "Maybe I should rephrase what I said before.. Kids usually display their dislike much more than adults do" She stopped her fingers in mid air and added "Though that also depends on each person's preferences" She then finally rested her head between her hands.

((Sorry! Trying to clean room and sew a hole in my skirt and sew up one of my little cousin's doll's clothes and agh -_- mermaid tails are hard to fix. Stupid Barbies.))

Tome nodded and just let her speak as he prepared the tea. He set the mug in front of her and went back to clean up what little mess had been made. "Careful, it's hot." He glanced back at her as he put the canister of tea leaves away. "You might want to drink that in your room. I'm not sure how quickly it will work on you." Fawn was usually asleep before she even finished it, but she was small and didn't have much weight or muscle to her.

Mia looked up at him and smiled a small polite smile "I will do so then" She pushed herself up, taking the hot mug between her hands and heading over to the kitchen's door "Thank you for this" She said with a nod before turning back. She felt being taken care of... It had been so long since she had felt that way. She tried to deny to herself that she actually liked that feeling, though she knew she had been longing for that since her father left, her mother fell ill and her little brother was born. She had been forced to be the one which had to take care of others and things had kept on being like that when she became a slave. She was always the one who took care of the others slaves, treating their injuries, their illnesses, comforting them and such.

(I'd say that as girl, I admire you on that. I suck at things like sewing T^T Lol Even my dad and older brother are better at it than me)

((Haha nice xD I can't really make anything but I can patch holes decently well. Helps a lot when I buy clothes at goodwill and suddenly discover a hole when I get home lol))

Tome watched her go, nodding to show he'd heard, then just finished cleaning everything up. Afterwards, he went and checked on Fawn, sitting with her until she eventually woke up on her own. He talked to her a little, making sure she was all right, then left her to go and make breakfast. He made extra, just in case, but didn't think Mia would be awake for it. It was all right. He'd stocked up on everything before he'd bought her.

(Still that's an useful skill, craft was never my thing xD )

Mia had indeed fallen asleep several seconds before she had finished the beverage. She had been discouraged when she hadn't even felt sleepy when she was done with it, but thankfully, as if her body couldn't just take it anymore, she fell back on the bed and was out like a light. Time went by and she slept like a log, waking up only until very late in the night. She wasn't sure what time was it, but as she glanced to the room's window for a moment she could tell the sun had been long gone from the sky.

She yawned and glanced to the side, finding the mug just by her bed. With a simple movement she pushed herself off the bed and stretched. She felt so.. refreshed. A small, peaceful smile escaped her as she opened her room's door, quietly exiting it before closing the door behind her. She walked through the hall on her tiptoes, meaning to go unnoticed if either Tome or Fawn were already sleeping.

Tome spent most of the day just at Fawn's side, without much else to do. The post came late, when the sun was just setting, and he was sitting at the kitchen table, still reading the letter that had been sent, when Mia finally came down from upstairs. He had reread it too many times and he still didn't like anything it said to him. Soon, they were going to have to make a trip to the castle, for some sort of event the King wanted his daughter to attend. Tome would act as her bodyguard, as per usual. He hadn't been recognized as the King's son by anyone in years.

"I suppose we should have waited until night," He said absentmindedly as she crept into the kitchen. "Your sleep schedule will be ruined." Though he thought they could just wait until tomorrow night to do it again.

Mia was surprised when she found Tome at the kitchen table and her eyes lowered to the letter he was holding on his hands, before they went up to his face again as he spoke to her. Now, Mia didn't know him really well but it seemed something was... bothering him? Maybe the letter? Bad news? "Good night" She said as he walked to the sink to wash the mug "It had been ruined since the first night I stayed here anyway" She commented as she turned on the water.

"Have you already eaten?" She looked at him over her shoulder as she tilted her head to the side a little.

Tome took the time to read the last few sentences again before picking his head up and looking at her. "I ate." He said, shrugging. "It would be rather late for supper in any case." He folded the letter in half, then half again, and slipped it into a pocket. "We'll be taking a trip soon. In the next few days." He could tell her specifics later on, when it became necessary. "Bet continue making yourself sleep until then. We'll all need the rest."

Mia stopped the water from running and raised an eyebrow. A trip, huh? Quietly, she placed the mug where it belonged to, brushing her fingertips against it before turning back "Wouldn't you be the one who should be resting right now? I slept all day long after all" She did wonder where would they be going but she pretty much guessed she would be finding out soon if the trip would be in the next few days.

Tome just sighed and shook his head as he stood. "I've gone for longer without rest before." He'd gone for days without rest before, without sleep, been forced to just keep training, keep fighting - or, perhaps worse, he was kept locked up but not allowed to sleep. "I'm going now. Ill be sleeping in Fawn's bedroom again if you need anything. Don't worry about noise. She's a heavy sleeper and I can ignore it." With that, he gave a slight nod in way of goodnight and turned to walk away. It was going to be a long wait before they left, and it was going to be an even longer trip. Each second would drag by like years.

"Wait" Before she already knew it, she was already reaching out for his arm "I know it's none of my business and also that you seem to consider it unnecessary that other people worry about you but are you okay?" She pulled back her hand which had barely brushed against his arm, but she kept with her eyes locked on his "You seem rather troubled" Once that she had started Mia couldn't help herself but keep going "Maybe you won't like me telling you this but you should take more care of yourself. You should eat well and sleep well, even if you'd been used to worse before or not. Also, you should be more careful with your own body, is your wound even okay?" Her own brows furrowed as she asked him that.

Mia was aware that she should be minding her own business and not butting in on his but.. That was just the way she was, even more now that she had realized Tome barely took care of himself and though Fawn seemed to try, she was just too weak to make sure of it. Even if Mia was supposed to be aiming for him crumbling one side of her didn't want a person like him to do so.

Tome held back his reflexes when she touched him, and for a moment just watched her speak with bewildered eyes. Was it concern for him, or was it concern for the health of the person who had to take care of her that was driving her? After a moment, he glanced at his arm and just frowned, trying not to glare. Fawn always tried to tell him not to get angry when he was confused or frustrated. "It's fine." He said, shaking his head. "I know how and when to change bandages, and I've been keeping an eye on it." He had to stay at least semi-capable to take care of Fawn. There was no one around to do anything about it if he just collapsed one day, and she would never make it to the nearest living souls. "I know what my body can take far better than you think. Your worry isn't necessary. If you'll excuse me, I'd like to go to bed now." He turned and started walking, but felt as if Fawn would be angry with him and stopped at the foot of the stairs, glancing back at her with an almost-not-quite timid expression. ". . . But thank you." Then continued on his way.

Mia had looked him in the eyes as he spoke. Mia was good at reading people, she had always been. So when she saw a mild angriness on his gaze she didn't even flinch. Mia was firm on her words, on what she had to say, so she would listen to whatever he would like to say back without fear. She had figured at least that he didn't seem the type of person who would punish her because of her guts, like her previous masters, so she allowed herself to express herself on that situation as if she had been talking to any other normal person.

"Have a good night" She answered back as he thanked her and followed him with her sight until he disappeared on the second floor. Just then she allowed herself to sigh deeply "It's so hard" She said to herself before turning back, not quite wanting to go all the way up to her room. She walked to the sitting room and just let herself fall back on the couch, absently staring at the piano. How long would she be forced to stay there? She raised her legs and hugged them to herself. Though she had told herself to keep acting 'nice' until he finally trusted her, she felt herself wavering and she sort of hated herself for that. She thought of Tome as good, despite his harsh attitude and that frustrated her even more. If only she could be as cold hearted as her father.

((Sorry got distracted))

Tome went up to Fawn's bed and dutifully ignored any sounds from down below or next door as he did his best to sleep. He woke a few times because of the noise, instinctively, but was confident about being between Fawn and the door and having a weapon just near by. Not that he generally ever needed a weapon. It wasnt necessary, he'd been told as a child. He was the weapon, and what did one tool need with another? It was an excuse for a great many of his overwhelming defeats when he was young.

As night went by Mia wandered around the first floor, now more than ever she was not sleepy at all and as such, she could only walk to stop herself from thinking unnecessary things that would haunt her later. When the crack of dawn came she stood once again from the couch where she had sat and soon stood up from through the entire night. She finally dared to walk to the piano, which she had glanced at several times by now but had by no means gotten near to. She touched it lightly and sat down at the bench before quietly raising the fallboard, her lips forming a fleeting smile as she brushed her fingertips against the cold and smooth keys.

Tome woke early in the morning and decided that Fawn would be all right waking up on her own today. It had been a while and he hadnt left her side, so she knew he wouldn't leave her. He always told her if he went anywhere. He went to his bedroom, got clothes, showered quickly in the bathroom and then headed downstairs. He spotted Mia in the sitting room once he was in the kitchen, and filled a cup with water. "You can play, if you wish. Once she's awake."

Mia couldn't help it but jump a little when she heard Tome's voice. Seriously, she would sometimes just wish for him to stop appearing out of the blue, hence, scaring the hell out of her. She turned to look at him over her shoulder before nodding "Good morning" She then said, standing up from the bench "Would you like something to eat?" Sometimes she felt as if the dialogue between them was bound to be an exchange of only a few words.

Tome glanced at her out of the corner of his eye, and picked up an apple, showing it to her. "I'll be fine." He moved away to sit at the table and eat it, and refused the urge to read the letter again. He'd already memorized it. "You can make breakfast for yourself if you'd like. You're welcome to any food in the house that isn't medicine."

Mia huffed a little at his apple but sighed, stepping into the kitchen and pouring herself some water "It's fine, I already ate, but thank you" She glanced at him as she raised the glass of water to her lips, if he was sitting there that meant Fawn was 'okay', at least at the moment. She took a sip before setting the glass down "I was planning on preparing some tea though. Would you like some? It helps to ease one's mind" She said in a casual tone as she glanced at her glass, though she didn't really expect him to agree.

Tome looked at her a moment and finally just looked at his glass. "Sure." He said, quiet and without much care. She wasnt going to stop asking until he finally said yes to something, so it was best to get it over with. "Thank you." Polite. He had to be polite, right? He wasn't good at that.

"Ok" Mia said simply, her face neutral. However, when she turned around, she couldn't help it but allow a smile to settle on her face. She boiled some water and took a tea pot she had spotted before. She pre-heated it and then put the specific herbs she wanted to use, which she had also managed to see before on the kitchen, in the bottom of the pot. She then poured the boiling water on the tea pot and covered with the cozy to retain the warmth "It's done" She declared as she reached for two cups. She then turned on her heels and placed the cup in front of him, pouring the liquid on it before turning again to pour it on her own cup. It was something her mom used to do for her a lot before. She had, in fact, been pleasantly surprised when she found those herbs the other night as she wandered around the house.

(Wasn't thinking of that xD Did I make it look like that? It's just something that would help him to calm down)

((Muscle relaxer? Lol

There was just secret smiling and looking for specific herbs and xD my mind jumped to evil conclusions))

Tome glanced up from the spot on the table he'd not so much been studying but staring blindly at, and nodded a little when she handed him a cup. He didn't thank her again, because he already had, and just set it nearby to cool off a bit while he finished eating his 'breakfast'. He kept listening in case Fawn called for him, and in a little while would go up and check on her. If she was awake, he would make breakfast.

(Oh but she will be evil! She will be evil when they get into the palace! Muahaha xD Lol! Will try to do so at least)

Mia remained there for a little while to drink her tea. The silence was the only thing that could be 'heard' among them. As such when she finished her tea, she just decided to excuse herself and walk up the stairs. A bath might as well be a good thing for her. She would clean after that. She felt the need to do something after all. So she got into the bathroom and took a reasonable amount of time in the tub. When she got out, she glanced at herself on the mirror. She saw her mother's eyes there and couldn't help it but look away. She... didn't want to harm Tome or Fawn. But.. What could she do? The King was the one she hated but getting into the palace was such a difficult thing. She had tried, but not any slave was allowed in there. If she couldn't bring herself to harm The King's soon anytime soon, not that is was an easy thing to do though, she would have to think of another way to get to his father instead.
