Blood and Water (♠ Blue Suit ♠)

((I was planning on getting all my replies done this morning but had a scary sort of terrifying abdominal pain episode that has gone away and not come back, so I'm fine but I was kind of too traumatized for anything O_O))

Tome glanced at her from where he sat, arms wrapped loosely around his knees, and nodded a little. "It's just fine." He said, shrugging. "I'll chance the bandages every few hours for a day or so, then just let it be. . . I told you, it's just a scratch. No need to worry." He'd gotten worse scrapes before, in worse places. There wasn't really many ways to bandage a wound when one received it by being tossed to the ground and landing mostly on one's face.

(My! But I'm glad it went away :) Do you know why it happened though? :S )

"Hmm" Mia hummed softly before looking back to the front and pushing herself up into a sitting position, their shoulders brushing lightly. Somehow... somehow she was dying to ask him the meaning of that kiss... But she didn't know how to broach it, she simply couldn't.

She didn't want to hope for anything... but how could you even stop those kind of things from happening? She was new at it, perhaps as new as him. Lowering her gaze to the ground, she slowly and tentatively reached for his hand with hers, allowing for their fingertips to touch.

"I'm still sorry for it..." She couldn't help it but admit "It wasn't deliberate but I did make you fall" And she hadn't even realized he was holding her all along!

((No idea. Possibly just bad gas, possibly something more serious. Ill have to make a doctor appointment soon, just in case, but who knows. It hasn't come back so it's probably nothing))

Tome shifted his hand away from his arm at the little brush of skin against skin, linking fingers at first and then just taking her hand in his. "It's all right." He said, softly. "I'd rather you fall on me than on the ground." He would heal and she wasnt quite so adept at moving through pain as he was.

((Sorry it's short. Feeling kinda blah today))

(Well you can never be too careful so better keep an eye on it, though hopefully it's nothing c:)

Funny how those words and his hand holding hers could make her feel so… secure, so unusually cared for. "Yeah…" Slowly, her eyes closed and even more slowly she rested her head softly and lightly against his shoulder "I reckon so" Ah… He really seemed to have her heart on his hand and she really hoped, really, really hoped he wouldn't drop it.

(('Course. My mom's got too much of a medical history for me to ignore things like I want to -_- ))

Tome curled his fingers careful but firm around hers and leaned his head against hers. ". . . You want to stay here," He said softly, after a while, "Don't you? We can . . . We can go back, when Joachim's big enough, and can travel. . . We can bring back our things, and find a place here. . . If that's what you want." He knew there were some things he would want to keep of Fawn's, but the rest he would happily burn down with the house. He didn't think he should leave it behind for others to find. Just in case.

At first, when he spoke, Mia remained silent ". . . You want to stay here" He had said, and she noticed that wasn't a question; it was an affirmation. Then he spoke again and finally made the proposal she herself had sort of been expecting. Well.. Did she? Hm, she liked it there and even more, Tome seemed happier there as well, also there was Malia there and both of them needed so much time to make up for the years they had been apart. "Yeah.. That'd be lovely, I like that" Also moving there felt as if they were… " Let's start over"

Tome's fingers tightened around hers. "Okay. . ." He said softly, resting his chin atop his folded arms but letting her keep his shoulder as a pillow. "Okay. . . We'll have to wait, until Malia says it's all right for Joachim. We'll just make do until then." It would be okay. They got all of the things they needed here. The only problem was that Tome wouldn't have the King's funding anymore. There was money at the house still, which he assumed no one would bother taking since the King had mountains of gold at his possession, but when that ran out they would be on their own. He wanted to be able to compensate these people for helping him and Mia.

"Alright.." Her head resting comfortably on Tome's shoulder, the warm sunlight and mild breeze blowing against her face… How could she not feel drowsy at that? Even more, there was this feeling of well-being that made it even easier to her to doze off into a peaceful sleep. Her grip got loose and her head rolled to the side a bit, even more than that she did quite quickly fell asleep.

Tome glanced at Mia when she went limp against him, a while later, said her name once, but she didn't wake. Sighing softly, he shifted carefully and gently, until he could put a leg on either side of her and let her lean back against his chest to sleep, her head tucked into the crook of his neck and shoulder. He put his arms loosely around, and hoped it would be an okay sort of thing for him to do. He just wanted her to rest peacefully. At least they'd started out sitting in the grass and not in the drier, rocky dirt.

Mia was left a bit disoriented when she pried her eyes open, mostly because she hadn't even planned on falling asleep, nor had even realized when she had done so. Blinking a couple of times, she shifted a bit before raising her head a bit "Tome?" Her voice coming out as a barely audible husky whisper.

Tome had gotten distracted, leaving one arm around Mia but using the other to disentangle a couple of little dragons that had gotten the frills atop their heads caught together and were crying. By the time he had them loose, Mia's voice came to his attention, with his well-honed hearing, and he turned his head back to look at her, leaning his weight on his free hand. ". . . Yes?" He said, finally, unsure if she was just making sure it was him or if she was wondering what on earth he'd done while she slept. Perhaps he was thinking too drastically. Surely she wouldn't be so suspicious. "Did you sleep well?"

Sleep? Raising one of the hands that had been limply resting on top of the grass, hanging by her side to her eyes, she used it to rub the gently. Oh, I see She said to herself mentally. A small, peaceful smile teased its way to her lips and she softly laid her head back into the crook of his neck and shoulder "Yeah.. I wasn't out for long, was I?" The sleepiness on her voice was wearing off, but it still had this hint of drowsiness on it.

Tome shook his head a little, careful not to accidentally bump her with his chin. "Not too long. The little ones have entertained themselves." He left his arm resting around her stomach since she hadn't moved it and had laid back against him again. Using the other, he reached over and scooped up the smallest of the bunch that had fallen down, setting her in Mia's lap when she started to cry and just petted her little head. "There, there," He soothed softly. "You're all right."

Mia glanced at the little one that had been placed on her lap from the corner of her eye, not really wanting to move her head, and gave her a small smile before she reached for her slowly and rubbed her beneath the snout quite softly and gently. Noticing that Tome's arm was resting around her stomach, she used her other hand to wrap her own arm lightly against his and finally looked away from the little one "And Joachim?"

Tome nodded slightly towards where the others were playing. "He and the other little ones found a puddle they're splashing in now. . . I'm going to have to bathe him again so the dirt doesn't get caught in his scales." He would probably wash the others down too, since most of them were getting themselves a bit muddy. Once he washed one, more wasn't much more trouble.

"I can help you with that, shall be a bit of trouble to bathe them all on your own" Mia commented casually as she allowed for her eyes to close again, with no intention of falling asleep again though. She actually had fun when it came to bathe the little one. Of course, it got a bit messy, but she didn't mind getting dirty at all.

Tome nodded a little. "If you'd like to. You don't have to trouble yourself." He leaned his cheek gently against her hair and gave the little dragon a pet, intertwining his fingers with Mia's where her arm lay along his. "You know they like to splash." Mostly to irritate him, he thought, but it was all in good fun. He couldn't stay angry at them. They were just babies, after all.

Mia shook her head a bit, curling her fingers a little when Tome intertwined theirs, her fingers gently brushing against his "Oh, I know. But it's okay, I do quite enjoy to bathe them and am glad to be of help, also I don't mind getting wet, clothes can dry" It was still sunny and that meant that if she didn't get dirty she could let her clothes dry outside instead of changing into new ones.

Tome sighed softly, contentedly, and was happy that she hadn't pushed him away, that he got to hold her and hold her hand. He smiled just a little when she spoke, chest shaking slightly with silent laughter. "You mean you enjoy watching them soak me." He knew she liked helping, too, but she'd gotten a good laugh out of Joachim splashing him.

Mia smiled before chuckling "Absolutely, but that's just a bonus" Did she enjoy watching it? Well yeah, she wouldn't deny it, mostly because both of them knew most of them did it on purpose. He wouldn't get mad at them and that very thing she enjoyed as well, not because it was fun, but because she got to see parts of him that she liked more and more.

Tome laughed softly and tightened his arm briefly around her before loosening his grip again, using his free hand to pick up the soothed baby dragon and send her back to her friends. "I don't know what we'll do when he's bigger. . . A bucket and scrub brush, I guess." He smiled slightly, thinking of Joachim growing up big and strong. "We'll have to climb him just to get to the top."

When she heard him laugh, Mia pried one eye open so as to get the chance to see the corners of his mouth rise into a smile she sometimes didn't get to see too often. It'd be a lot difficult indeed when little Joachim stopped being so 'little'. "I tell you what's for sure; we won't be able to wash him while the other one tries to hold him down" Pulling back her head a little so that she could actually turn her head and look him in the fCe, she smiled "But I'm sure the two of us will manage just fine" She'd be there to help him, that was a given.

Tome shifted back a little when she tried to turn her head, leaned back enough he could look at her but still support her. "He'll be less likely to play during bathtime then, I think. By then he'll have learned he's big enough to hurt us." He was confident Joachim would learn to be gentle as he grew up. Especially with Mia. Tome was strong enough to take a hit, but she wasn't quite so trained.

Mia thought about it for a moment "Well where's the fun in that?" She asked in response to his previous statement with a bright smile. "Then again, sometimes I feel that physically he grows much quicker than mentally, which is good, as I'd rather have him remaining as a little child at heart for a bit longer"

Tome shook his head, smiling just a little. "I don't personally want to be thrown to the ground from his height, thank you. . . But it would be nice, I think, if he stayed that way for a while. He'll be a good companion anyway, and a good protector and helpful, but I like that he's happy when he plays." Joachim was always overjoyed when he got to romp around and have fun, whether with Tome and Mia, or with the other baby dragons.
