Blood and Water (♠ Blue Suit ♠)

Mathis paused, as if considering, then just shrugged. "I don't see why not. Dragon lilies grow pretty easily here, so it's not like we're taking a loss. Hold on a sec." Turning, he went back into the store and came out with a pot of dragon lilies, setting it down to carefully pick off a flower. "I'm telling you, he'll like it. Look. He can smell it already."

Joachim, going between distracted by something behind Tome and suddenly smelling the flowers, had tilted over backwards to see what it was, hanging a bit over Tome's hand where it had caught him. He squeaked quietly, swinging his little paws towards Mathis, and Tome turned him back over so he wouldn't get dizzy.

"It's just a flower. . ." Tome mumbled,a little perplexed by the idea, but let Mathis approach.

Mathis only smiled and held the flower close enough that Joachim could get it, pointing the base at him. He was expecting it when the baby just opened up and chomped down on it, and so had his fingers out of the way. Joachim chewed a few times to get the rest of the petals to fit in his mouth, pawing at it a bit though he lacks the dexterity to actually push it in, and made happy little mrring noises to indicate his pleasure.

Mathis grinned. "See? Told ya. He'd've bitten my fingers for it if I hadnt let go sooner."

Mia watched sort of expectantly as Mathis approached Joachim with the plant on his hand. Frankly, she found it fascinating every time he tried something new. There was a bit of anxiety and nervousness, followed by a warm tingling feeling whenever she saw and heard how happy did it make him. So he likes it She said mentally, feeling satisfied.

"See? Told ya. He'd've bitten my fingers for it if I hadnt let go sooner." Mia glanced at him before grinning herself "Quite so" She agreed "How much of it can he have daily?" Asking out loud, she turned her head completely to look at Mathis.

Tome caught a piece of a flower petal Joachim dropped and let the little one lick it from his palm, listening for the answer to a question he'd been wondering himself. Mathis shrugged a little. "Little guy his size could probably eat three or four before he starts feeling ill, just the same as a person would if they ate too many sweets. But I wouldn't give it to him daily. It's usually just a treat for special occasions." He set the pot down where she could inspect the little plant, smiling. "You'll have to store it with the rest of the food at the dragonry, too, or he'll try to get at it all the time."

Joachim hung limply in Tome's arms, relaxed and content with a happy belly even as he licked his jaws clean, in case anything was left. Mathis laughed softly at the picture he made, Tome smiling faintly down at him. "I told you he'd like it."

((Just this one before bed cuz I gotta get up early :) night))

When Mathis set the pot down, Mia leaned in a bit to look at it. Well, who could say that? Dragons did eat plants and it seemed that Joachim had really enjoyed it a lot. "I told you he'd like it." Raising her head a bit and turning it to the side, she found herself smiling at seeing how content the little dragon was and the small smile that had crept over Tome's lips. "We're taking it, then?" Mia straightened her head back before asking him.

Tome glanced up when Mia spoke to him, and glanced at Joachim once more before just nodding. "I think it'll be good. Especially when he's bigger." They could keep the flowers around just in case he got rowdier when he was older. Tome didn't want him accidentally hurting anyone.

Mathis just stood there, grinning happily, and held out a hand. "One silver piece for the pot. Only two copper extra if you'd like seeds to grow yourself."

Tome glanced at Mia and shrugged slightly. "I don't know if we have a space to keep it. . ." One pot they could manage, surely, but how long would it take the other to grow? Tome didn't want Joachim getting into it if it would make the little dragon sick.

Mia glanced at Tome before speaking "I think we should get only the pot for now" She suggested. Joachim liked it, that was obvious, but Mia considered for it to be better if they simply bought one and see how it went. It was just a suggesting though, as such, she kept her eyes on Tome as if asking for his agreement or disagreement.

Tome looked at Mia and nodded a little, then shifted Joachim to one arm so he could reach a hand into his pocket and pull out a silver piece, which he dropped neatly and politely into Mathis' hand. "Do you want to carry the flowers back?"

Mathis held the pot out to her for her to take, but didn't quite let them go yet. "Oh! I have a couple recipes written down for you, inside. Did you want to take them now?"

"Do you want to carry the flowers back?" Mia looked back at Tome "Sure" She turned her head and her gaze fell on Mathis as she held out her hands to take the pot. When he didn't let go though, she tilted her head a little, brow raised. However, as he spoke, a smile crept over her lips "Oh, of course. I didn't bring some with me today but…"

Reaching for her pocket with one hand, she took out some of the herbs she had been looking for before and had luckily found there even though she had been told they were scarce, probably because not many people knew about them and so there was no need to collect them. "These are called Licorice roots. They make a really good and refreshing tea. Have them, please" She still had some back at the dragonry.

Mathis blinked at the roots in his hand, looking between her and them as if in disbelief. "Really?" He smiled brightly and closed his fingers around them. "I'll have to try it. Thank you, Mia. Maybe I'll come visit you two at the dragonry sometime."

Tome didn't like the idea, for some reason, but only shrugged. "We're usually always there. . ." Mathis would be able to find them pretty easily.

"Don't mention it" When the roots were taken away from her hands, Mia lowered them and intertwined her fingers loosely "You must, as Tome said you could say that we rarely leave the dragonry" Perhaps they could get to talk a bit more, he seemed nice to be around and also, that way she'd be able to spend time with other people. Don't take it wrong, she enjoyed spending time with Tome, much more since he didn't appear to be bothered by it like before, but sometimes she felt as if she wanted to do somethings that… She wasn't supposed to.

((Sorry, been super busy with work. It's the holidays, so shifts are getting longer more frequently))

Mathis smiled brightly and nodded. "Its settled, then! Ill come by and see you and your little one some time soon, I promise."

Tome nodded a little and just started to edge away, not entirely sure he liked the attention Mathis paid Mia, his eyes usually on her rather than anyone else. "We should head back."

(S'Okay! No worries. Same here, but busy with college so sorry if the post is really short >.<)

"It's a promise then" Mia declared with a smile, seriously Mathis' smiles were contagious or perhaps they were getting on pretty well since the very beginning. When Tome spoke, she threw him a glance from over her shoulder and with a nod, she turned on her heels "Ok... Oh" Quickly she turned back a bit to take the pot and bid a farewell accompanied by another smile to her new friend before she finally walked away with Tome.

((It's cool. You see how busy I am lol))

Tome glanced back at Mathis as the long-haired young man waved, then just led Mia away. Joachim was content for a while, then started staring at the flowers, and Tome held him up as they started to walk, looking the little dragon in the eyes. "No more snacks." He said gently, letting Joachim nuzzle against him. "Tomorrow, maybe."

"You really liked it, right?" Mia commented with a content smile on her face "I'm glad Mathis was right" Looking down at the pot on her hands, she stated. Then, glancing at Tome's hand, her eyes softened and her smile grew happier when her gaze fixed on the pretty red and shiny bracelet on his wrist. Automatically, she raised her hand to brush her fingertips against it "You're using it" She said out loud. Mia couldn't even believe how that simple fact could actually make her happy.

Tome blinked and looked at Mia when she reached out to him, then down at the bracelet, and sort of shyly away from her. ". . . You gave it to me." He said, quietly and a bit self consciously. Joachim noticed the bracelet when Mia touched it, and twisted around to lick at it, but gave up when it wasn't food and was too hard to bite. Tome didn't worry much about him since he wasn't big enough to do it any damage and he could shine off any scratches. Mia had given the bracelet to him and . . . and he thought he might never stop wearing it.

Mia blinked and stared at him for a moment before looking back at the front "You gave me one too before" Not the same meaning but still… She had treasured it afterwards. Even for a bit, she could consider it an exchange, in her mind of course.

Tome shifted Joachim up a bit higher in his arms, looking down at the dragon rather than at Mia because he kept thinking it was different. Everything was different, for him. He wasn't normal. He was never treated kindly, and never given gifts, so the fact that he had one now was special. ". . . I can get you another one." He said softly, after a while. If she wanted things, he could get them for her. The majority of their things were still back at the house by the lake, after all.

Mia smiled a bit as she maintained her gaze glued to the front. There was no need to, she didn't want for him to feel obliged to do so. But, she didn't want to give him the feeling she'd rather not receive a thing from him. To be honest, she'd accept anything he'd have to give her as long as that's what he wanted to do "Thanks" So that was her answer, nor declining it, nor accepting it. And she even, quite shyly, reached for his arm to grasp his shirt softly, if only to remain closer, if only to have the excuse she wouldn't want to get separated for him like the last time.

Tome nodded a little, and glanced at her hand when she grabbed onto him. Shifting Joachim to one arm, he reached up and took her hand, just moving ahead to lead her along. "Let's get back. It's almost time for him to eat again." He felt better, somehow, with his hand folded around hers, the bracelet shifting slightly back and forth as they walked, almost touching her. It felt like . . . like Home.

It was a pleasant surprise, as always, when Tome took her hand on his own. A content, almost silent, sigh left her lips and softly she wrapped her fingers in a loose grip around his hand as she nodded "Will we be taking him to play with the other hatchlings today as well?" Mia asked curiously as she quickened her pace just a bit to keep up with him and walk side by side.

Tome nodded. "Malia says it helps out, when we watch them." He shrugged slightly. "And Joachim is happy when he plays. It's not that hard to watch over them." It freed up the workers to do other things that needed to be done. Tome wasn't bothered by the new chore, since it made Joachim happy and made Mia smile, too. If they were all happy, then Tome was happy too.

"Look at that then. We sort of have a 'job' " With a bright smile on her face, Mia declared. Okay, it wasn't really a proper job, but was enough for now.

((Sorry, had to get ready for work and I'm leaving for work now. Bye!))

Tome smiled a little and nodded, glad she was happy. "It's the least we can do, I think. They're helping us a lot." Heavens knew that if they'd been left on their own Joachim would probably be horribly ill by now.

"I know" Mia replied as she distractedly tapped her fingers softly against Tome's hand "I like that. Certainly, it's better than doing nothing" She was not really the type that could stay in one place without doing anything for long. Good thing that she could go out there and do a couple more of things that she couldn't do back at the house.

((Sorry I've been gone so long -_- ))

Tome nodded and didn't speak again until they'd stored the plant away and were settled in the young ones play area. "Here you go, Joachim." He said softly, and set the little dragon on the ground. "Go on. Go play. We'll be here." Joachim looked back, as if to confirm, then ran off to jump into the tangle of other baby dragons. Smiling a bit, Tome looked back at Mia. "They entertain themselves rather well, but let's look for their toys." He knew they enjoyed it even more when people played with them too.
