Blood and Water (♠ Blue Suit ♠)

(It's fine, Nala ^^ No worries. Hope work is going good for you c:)

Mia smiled when she saw Joachim was having fun and turned her head up to Tome when he spoke with the same smile as she nodded. She knew the little ones could perfectly have fun just playing with one another, but she also knew they liked it even more as well to play with Tome, he had really won them over quite quickly. "Even better, let's go over there" She commented before grabbing his hand loosely and pulling him all the way to where Joachim and his other friends were playing.

It was no surprise to find out she was was right. The baby dragons immediately allowed for both of them to join into their little game which mostly, and funnily, consisted of practically jumping and rolling around. It wouldn't have been a problem at all if it wasn't because it was a little bit too messy to keep track of all of them. As such, Mia didn't noticed that one was behind her until he bumped against her legs and continued rolling to the side. She, however, did lose her balance and began to fall over.

By natural instinct, she grabbed unto the closest thing to her - which just so happened to be the only person tall enough for her to reach for. She grabbed unto the front of his shirt, trying to regain her balance, but still lost it and tumbled over, pulling him down with her. She landed on her back, her long sandy hair hair spread all around her like a silken pastel blanket. "O-Ow.." she mumbled, her eyes shut tightly in pain. They slowly fluttered open, and soon widened in shock when she saw Tome on top of her. She opened her mouth, a flurry of words she wanted to exclaim supposed to be coming out, but failed to come to volume.

It all stopped for a moment, when she, without thinking about it, reached for his cheek softly. His hair was cascading over his face and she moved it back with a gentle touch. Nevertheless, she snapped out of it when something in his gaze when hers met his brought her back to her senses. Blinking, she allowed for her hand to fall back down and her lips quivered into a low "I-I'm sorry" As her stare which seemed to be aching -literally aching- with vulnerable, truthful and innocent love remained glued on his.

Playing with the dragons included a lot of careful stepping so as not to hurt any of them accidentally, and Tome was distracted by that, enough that he didn't notice Mia falling until she was grabbing onto him. It caught him off guard, of course, and so he tumbled down with her, but his reflexes were still fast, and he managed to put his arm beneath her to cushion her fall a bit, so she wouldn't hurt her spine or skull. He hit sort of hard on his knees and his one free hand, and so nearly fell on top of her, barely managing to keep his weight up and off her.

He didn't know what to do, when she reached up and touched him. He didn't know how such a simple gesture could feel like that. Like he was cared for. Like he wasn't alone. Like he . . . was loved. And he just couldn't breathe. He was caught just staring back at her, expression unreadable but gentle around the eyes, and he could've pulled away even though his arm was trapped beneath her, but he didn't. He stayed there, staring and struggling to think, and hating the way her voice sounded almost as if she would cry. Maybe he hadn't heard wrong, or just been wrong about what he heard, and maybe she . . . maybe she hadn't been lying, when she spoke to Joachim the things Tome was never supposed to hear. Maybe that touch wasn't nothing, and maybe . . .

She wouldn't look away from him, and that made it perhaps more difficult, but he didn't let it stop him. He leaned down to her, closed the small gap between them slowly and haltingly so she would have time to say no, and kissed her. It was just a little thing, a gentle press of his lips to hers, and over before long because he didn't know if she would hate him for it or not. She was one of the only few that had ever stopped hating him.

Mia hadn't been able to move, more like she didn't want to do so. Even if his stare made her breathless, even if his silence was making her extremely nervous. There she was, leaving her feelings out in the open for everyone to see, because she couldn't hold them back with him being so close, it overwhelmed her and her own hidden feelings were pouring out. And somewhat it also made her afraid, because she knew he could never care for her the way she had come to, because she could never afford such love and was too afraid of longing for it.

That's why she had been left completely disoriented and confused when he leaned down to her. And her mind went blank, the thoughts that had been running a hundred miles per second came to a halt and she could just stare at him, in wonder and awe. She should have expected it, and yet when his lips met hers she was deeply and utterly surprised. A gentle touch, something impossible. An electric jolt spread from her lips to all her body and she even trembled.

But it was over far too quickly and that made her feel strangely vulnerable and incomplete. As if she had been taken away from a home she was finally found. So she reached for his shirt softly, grasping it with all the strength she could gather. What could she take that gesture for? Was she even capable of questioning it right now? One thing was for sure, she hadn't want it to be over so soon. As such, she did something that yet again surprised even herself. She softly pushed herself up and brought him down gently again. Her kiss was just as gentle as his, but she didn't pull back immediately, she was keeping it not forceful at all in case he was the one who wanted to pull away.

Tome was afraid, his heart beating hard in his chest, and he couldn't look at her when he pulled away from her after the kiss, uncertain and thinking she might shove him away at any moment. There was a too long pause, and he was just beginning to pick himself up again when she grabbed onto him. He glanced down at the fingers curled tight in his shirt, then at the girl below him, and was shocked into compliance when she pulled him back down.

It was too much. Could he really take it the way he thought? Decide she didn't want him away from her and wouldn't reject him the moment he pulled away? He ignored the pain in his elbow from where it had landed with her weight atop his forearm, from his palm where it had hit a small rock on the ground and stung his skin, his knees in the dirt either side of her. He closed his eyes against tears that threatened to well up and just pressed closer to her, kissed her more firmly but gentle and slow, still. God, he couldn't take it. It felt as if his heart might swell and burst from his chest, and it could take just one little pinprick to destroy it entirely.

It was amazing, if not unexpected, for him to react the way she had wanted for him to do so. That had to be dream and she begged, oh she really begged, for her not to wake up. How could people think so lowly of him when he was nothing but an ordinary man? A really good man… A man that had probably kissed her not out of actual love but on the spur of the moment, something that made her heart ache because she couldn't be confident about anything anymore.

As such she slowly opened the fingers she had curled in his shirt and slipped both of her hands around his back, as if clinging to him, afraid that he'd leave her there, with her heart pounding even painfully against her heart to the point she believed she could easily break. I love you… I love you That thought repeated itself over and over again on her mind while they shared that brief moment between the two of them.

He wasn't very experienced at things like this, but it came naturally enough for him to shift his weight to the arm beneath her, use the other to brush his fingers gently over her cheek and back into her hair, let her hold onto him however much she wanted. He pulled away from her enough to look down at her again, his eyes gentle and almost bewildered at this wonderful thing he was allowed to have, and with a love he perhaps didn't quite understand. He wanted to kiss her again. He wanted to hold her and never let anyone take her away.

Those thoughts came to a sluggish sort of crawl when Joachim whined beside them and, without waiting for a response, wriggled into the space between their stomachs, stretching out across Mia with a huff and just swishing his tail back and forth against the ground. Tome sighed softly and started to carefully shift his forearm out from beneath her, so they could deal with the baby dragon. What was wrong now? Tome banished any thoughts he might have had about the dragon waiting for longer. If Joachim was unhappy, Tome couldn't be mad at him.

((Aaaaaaaaand - moment ruined! lol Baby wants attention!))

A mix of a content and a bit sharp sigh escaped her when Tome pulled away a bit. She had been holding back her breath when they had kissed and was inhaling and exhaling sort of quietly as she looked up at him. The gentleness on his eyes eased away any kind of worry she could be having and she allowed for her eyes to close lightly for a second as she breathed in again, a small smile teasing its way to her lips.

Then, Joachim suddenly wiggled his way into the space between them and with a startle she was brought back to her senses, blinking. Tome started to pull his arm from beneath her and Mia, who hadn't really noticed it was there to begin with, quickly pressed both of her hands against he grass to lift herself up a bit so that it was easier for him to do so. Lowering her gaze down to Joachim a bit of an apologetic smile settled on her face "Oh, sorry"

(Lol, the 'perks' of being a parent xD )

Tome shook his head a little and just pulled his arm away, shifting onto his side next to her so he was't hovering over her anymore. "'S okay. . ." He murmured quietly, picking Joachim up and helping Mia up into a sit. He stroked gently at the little dragon's maw. "What's wrong?" Joachim just whined a little and clung to Tome's hand, flipping his little tail out to try and wrap around Mia's arm. Sighing softly, Tome shifted closer to let him. ". . . I think he was just being jealous." They might have problems with that in the future, if Joachim didn't want anyone else touching either of them, or if he didn't want to be left out.

Mia blinked at his words and raised her free hand to her mouth to hide a chuckle "Where you now?" Reaching for his head, she caressed it softly. Well, she'd had not actually expected that from him. Then again, she had definitely not expected the other thing either.

Tome sighed and just lifted Joachim up to press a kiss to his head, then handed the little dragon to him because there were little ones starting to attack his boots. "Maybe he was just confused and thought we were hurt." He said, reaching down to pluck a small dragon off his feet. "Or maybe he doesn't like that the others like me."

"That being the case it'd be a bit troublesome" Mia commented casually as she cradled Joachim affectionately. But then again, perhaps the little dragon was indeed the possessive one, how would it be when he grew up then? Oh she didn't even want to think about it. "You like daddy a lot too, don't you?" She said in a soft tone before rubbing his belly lightly, not really aware herself that she had pronounced the word too.

((Sorry, had a big process of making dinner and now I gotta get ready and leave for work. Bye!))

Tome shrugged slightly, shifting another dragon away from him after the first. "It could be, but I think we can teach him it's not okay." Pausing, he turned to look at her again. "Are you all right?" He'd kept his weight off her, and her head was safe, but he wanted to be sure she wasn't in any pain.

"I guess so" Mia commented, leaning down a bit to softly leave Joachim on the ground in case he wanted to play. She guessed they could teach them… Hmm but teach him what exactly? The situation was not even that clear by itself. Not clear at all… Raising her hand to her mouth, she brushed her fingertips softly against her lips… Ha… It had been totally unexpected…

"Are you all right?" Raising her eyebrow, Mia curled her fingers into a loose fist before lowering her hand and turning her head to the side to look at him "Oh, yeah… It hurt for a moment but…" His arm had cushioned her fall, even more she now realized he had probably taken the worst part of the fall "You?" Automatically, she reached for his arm "Does it hurt?" Brows knitting together, she asked worriedly.

Tome shifted a little away when she reached for him, keeping his arm out of her reach. "I . . ." He set the little dragon down away from him so it and Joachim could play, holding his arm carefully. "I scraped it a little, but it's fine. I'll go clean it up in a minute." It was bleeding a little, but not too bad, and he'd hardly noticed such a low level of pain. That probably meant something was wrong with how his brain worked, but what else was new? He'd gotten too used to bearing through bigger pains to give this one any attention.

Mia blinked before scowling again, making yet another attempt to take his arm between her hands "Well, if it's fine, let me take a look" She sort of demanded. He had cushioned her fall after all, and even though she was not that heavy, it had been not only her fall but his too, as well as her own fault for having dragged him down with her.

Tome moved back again and only ended up falling back onto his other elbow to put space between them, blinking up at her with his brain trying to decide whether he should give in or get up and run away. "It's fine." He repeated, shaking his head. "It's just bleeding a little and I don't want you getting your hands dirty. I can take care of it myself." He didn't want her to touch it and have her fingers come away red. It would only worry her, and then she would have to leave and scrub her hands too.

She didn't like the word bleeding at all and she couldn't help it but click her tongue softly at his stubbornness. "I'm not saying you can't, but it was my fault so let me see" With the help of one of her hands, she pushed herself up a bit to reach for his arm yet again. She didn't care if it was a little, he was bleeding and she wanted to help. "You disregard your own injuries and I can always wash my hands" Complaining, she stated. Because she had noticed he did so in the time she had known him.

Tome finally resorted to raising a knee up to block her hand from reaching him. "A-All right, all right," He said, shaking his head. "I'll show you, just stop trying to touch." He still didn't think he needed help with it. He could bandage it up on his own, if it ended up even needing one. When he was sure she wasn't going to try and grab him again, he sat up so he could pull his arm up, a bit hesitantly, and show her where the side of it was scratched, half of the length of his forearm just a bit reddened with irritation from the friction and the other half scraped up and bleeding from the gravelly dirt. ". . . It's fine. . ." He repeated, uncomfortably. "I'll go clean it out and cover it. . ." Mostly because she would probably try to murder him if he somehow let it get infected.

Mia sat back down when he finally agreed to show her and waited obediently as he pulled his arm up. It was not bad but she didn't like the sight of it either. "You should've just let me fall" She didn't really think she'd have hit the ground that hard. A sigh left her lips before she spoke "I'm sorry" And she was, because she didn't like to see him hurt.

Tome frowned slightly, glancing at his arm and then looking at her again. "It's fine. . . You don't have to be sorry. I'd rather my arm than your head." He could take the damage easily, but she would've been dizzy for a while, he thought, if she'd hit her head so hard, without his hand there to cushion it.

Yeah… It figured he'd think like that… Glancing up at him, a small grateful smile crept over Mia's lips "Thank you for cushioning my fall" First she had to apologize, but also she had to thank him, because he had done that for her after all. "You should go and treat it, I can take care of the little ones"

Tome nodded a little, and shifted forward to get to his feet, giving Joachim a pat on his way up. "I'll be back in just a minute. . . It's fine." He reassured again, and looked at her one last time before walking away. When he came back, would it all be a fleeting dream? Would she ever want to touch him again? He should've just let her look.

Mia watched him go with a soft smile before allowing herself to fall back down on her back with a silent thump when she couldn't see him anymore. She… couldn't… believe it! Finally blushing, she raised her arm to her face to hide it from view. Was it okay then? Was it okay for her to have hope? Oh Gosh, stop smiling like an idiot She told herself as she rolled to her side. She didn't really recognize that side of hers.

((Eyes closing -_- Must sleep. Goodnight!))

Tome spent a few minutes washing out the little cuts, and it really wasn't that bad, but he bandaged it anyway, and managed to sneak away without being seen by Malia or any of the people he thought might report back to her. He had enough on his hands with just Mia worrying about something so minor. When he came back, sporting a new bandage wrapped around his arm, he settled in next to Mia, letting the little ones play. He wasn't really sure what he should say to her.

(G'Night Nala! c:)

By the time Tome was back, Mia was distractedly playing with the little dragons as she lazily laid on her stomach, rocking her legs back and forth as she did so. Seeing him coming back and spotting the bandage wrapped around his arm gave her a bit of a nervous and relieved kind of feeling. Then he settled in next to her but strangely didn't say anything at all and that was when she realized that perhaps, like her, he didn't know what.

But it shouldn't be like that… She didn't want for him to feel either uncomfortable or awkward around her, being that the main reason for her not to confess her feelings before. With a low sigh, she dropped the hands that had been supporting her chin to the ground before softly laying her cheek on top of the grass "Is it better?" She asked casually as she glanced at him from the corner of her eye.
