Blood and Water (♠ Blue Suit ♠)

Mia smiled a bit before throwing a glance back over to Joachim's direction. Yeah… She liked that too, she did so very much. He was just a small child, and fortunately he had been taken to a place where he could be brought up in a not hostile environment, on the contrary, they had been lucky to have ended up there. "Well… as long as he enjoys himself like that always, everything will be fine" She finally declared as she returned her gaze back to Tome.
 
Tome watched the dragons splashing longer, then just nodded. "I hope he's always so curious. . . Maybe we can travel with him, sometimes, if Malia knows dragon friendly places. He should always be able to see new things." He didn't want Joachim to get bored, or to miss out on things because Tome had a tendency to get rooted places and never leave. He would leave what little sense of 'comfort zone' he had for Joachim, and for Mia. And for Malia, now. Once he knew her. Somehow, he really, really wanted to know her.
 
"And meet new people… or creatures in general, I guess" Mia agreed with a nod before carefully scrambling to her feet so as not to step on Tome accidentally or something like that, didn't want to go and hurt him -if only a little- again. Taking a few long strides, she walked over to where the little ones where happily having fun and, making sure Joachim noticed her beforehand, she swept him gently off his feet, quite literally, so as to give him a soft hug "Having fun, eh?" Quickly staining itself with mud, her shirt soon got dirty as well as her face as she got hold of the little dragon.
 
Tome stayed still so Mia could get up, though the sudden cold feeling with the lack of her body heat made him feel almost lonely somehow. Joachim looked towards her as soon as she was near, eager for 'Mama' to come play, and wriggled in her arms once she had him, straining to push up against her cheek and lick at her face. Tome smiled a little and got to his feet, a bit amused at how dirty Mia was getting. "At this rate you'll need a bath before he does." Of course, the other little ones came running as soon as Tome stood next to Mia, and smeared dirty water and mud on his shoes and pant legs from the knee down. He sighed and shook his head. "I should've expected that. . ."
 
"At this rate you'll need a bath before he does." For a moment, a real brief one, the corners of her mouth raised into a bit of an apologetic smile, however, as soon as the other little dragons did their own job with Tome's legs, her smile grew into a cheerful and a sort of a mischievous one "Perhaps, but I won't be taking it alone" She declared before briefly shifting Joachim to one single arm so that she could use her now muddy hand to gently stain Tome's cheek with it "There you go" Her smile had grown bigger while she used both of her arms to hold Joachim again.
 
Tome closed his eyes, briefly but instinctively, when Mia put mud on his cheek, touching his fingers to it afterwards as if he didn't actually believe she'd done it. Her words struck him, then, and his cheeks turned a very light but still unexpected and uncharacteristic pink. He tried to dismiss any sort of strange thoughts, though, knowing she couldn't have truly meant they should bathe together. Still, his eyes shifted shyly away. "I'm sure it will be much worse once we get them in the wash tub."
 
Honestly, those words probably sounded better in her head before she said them out loud, therefore, Mia hadn't realized they could be quite misleading until she noticed the light pink color that colored Tome's cheeks. Oh, bugger She cursed mentally as her own pinks acquired a bit of much more noticeable tone of pink, a sort of a rosy color. The words to clear it up, though, got stuck on her throat for a second and then he spoke before she could get them out "Ah, right. Better to bathe them first and then take the bath in that case" She declared automatically as she as well looked away… and perhaps that hadn't sound quite right either.
 
Tome shifted his feet a little uncomfortably, looking up and around and anywhere but at her. He noticed, though, while he was looking, the position of the sun and finally gave his head a little shake. "We should probably start now, so they can go off for dinnertime before it's gotten too late." Malia did like to keep a little bit of a schedule for them, so the babies always knew what was happening. "I'll go and get the tub. You count and see if we're missing anyone."
 
"Yeah, you go and do that" Mia quickly said and didn't even looked him in the face as he walked away. She did, though, followed his back with her sight until he disappeared on the distance and that was when she let out a long exhalation. Brilliant, Mia! You're just too clever She scolded herself mentally as she used her hands to hide her face from view " 'I won't be taking it alone' What on earth were you thinking?" This time she complained out loud, it totally had sounded as if she was inviting him.


Her! Inviting Tome, of course he had feel uncomfortable! Couldn't she be any more of a complete idiot. "Forget it" She mumbled under her breath, shaking her head. Just count them She urged herself and proceeded to do so as she leaned over to leave Joachim back down on the grass with the others.
 
Tome cooled off while he walked away. He went and retrieved the metal tub to wash the dragons in, filling it and carrying it back. He did his best not to spill on the way, setting it down out of the way of the mud the babies had been playing in. "all right." He said, setting the soap down as well. "One at a time, I think. We can start with Lamaya." She was little and the most obedient, so she would be an easy start.
 
"Alright" Mia nodded and though they were pretty much absolutely dirty by now, she did roll up her sleeves while she kneeled down by the tub. It was pointless to give something much thought when you were actually the only one being over conscious about it well… Sort of the sonly one… Whatever. Reaching for the little dragon herself, she softly picked her up and as gently as she could, she handed her over to Tome, to be honest she knew they could easily harm her, but she was still afraid of harming them.
 
Tome took the baby gently and kept a hand under her belly as he lowered her into the water, so she wouldn't think he would drop her. "There, there, little one," He soothed softly, pouring water over her back with just his hand. "You'll be fresh and clean soon, and off to dinner." She would probably eat and then go right to sleep. The little ones tended to crash pretty hard once they were done playing and had their energy out.

"This should help to make it quicker" Picking up her hair on a pony tail, Mia reached for another little one and gently placed him on her lap "Let's get you a bit cleaner for the time being" She told him as she cupped her hand to pour a bit of water over the baby and with her hand cleaned some dirty spots on his scaly skin.


It did got pretty messy as they continued with the same method. Some dragons were not as obedient and both Mia and Tome were splashed with dirty water more than once, struggled to keep them still quite a lot and tried hard to scrub all the dirtiness from their little but still strong bodies. Still, there was laughter and enjoyment so she couldn't say she didn't like it.


"Done" With a satisfied sigh, she declared as she scrambled to her feet. She… did need a bath, a really good one. Shaking her head, Mia raised her hands to her hair to let it down. Ugh, it's tangled She complained mentally as she twirled some locks of it with her fingers and tried to tug on the hairband to set her hair loose.
 
Tome had to smile when Mia laughed, every time. It was a comforting sort of sound, something that told him she was happy and that whatever they were doing was right. He enjoyed himself, even, just washing and playing with the little ones, and they were all tuckered out from bath time once it was over, snoozing together in the clean grass nearby.


"We should go and get the dinner time crew." He said, referring to the few people that usually fed them. Glancing over at Mia's struggle, Tome cleaned his hands,then got up to walk over to her and crouch down behind her, moving her hands gently away. "Here, let me. . ." He said softly, and disentangled her fingers first, then set to work carefully undoing the knot that held her hair to the tie. He'd done things like this plenty of times, and with a much more fragile, more sensitive scalp. Hs touch was gentle and sure, and he had the tie out and her hair down in just a minute or so. "There. Better?"
 
"We should go and get the dinner time crew." Throwing a look back at him over her shoulder, she gave him an apologetic smile "Yeah, gimme a minute" She replied before nibbling down on her bottom lip, awesome, couldn't she be looking any better? Mia looked back to the front as she focused her attention on her 'difficult' task, so she couldn't help it but startle a little when Tome spoke to her and even disentangled her fingers.


Blinking, she lowered her hands and allowed for them to hang by her sides. Surprisingly, he was pretty skilled on that, and also pretty gentle. "There, better?" Turning around on her heels, she raised one hand to her hair so as to rack her fingers through it. "A lot. Thank you" With a smile creeping over her lips, she nodded.
 
Tome nodded, giving the tie back to her, and bent down to pick up Joachim when he wandered sleepily over. He hugged the little dragon in one arm, keeping him warm, and looked at Mia. "You stay and watch them, all right? Ill go and get someone to come and lead them off to supper." Joachim was theirs, though, and it was their job to feed him, so Tome usually just grabbed something and brought it back to their room for him. Usually Joachim wanted to spend time with the two of them more than the other babies once playtime was over and he was tired.
 
"Yes, Sir" Mia replied with a nod. It had been a pretty good day after all. She had perhaps won a new friend, she and Tome had kissed and to her own delight and wonder it did seem that he was not as indifferent towards her as she believed him to be. How could she not be in a good mood then? She did hope things would keep on going as smoothly after that though.
 
Tome gave a little smile, just because she seemed happy, then slid past her to go and get someone to feed the little ones. He found someone rather quickly, gathered Joachim's dinner in a small basket while the little dragon slept in his arm, and went back to find Mia again. "Ready to go back?" He asked, watching as she helped get the sleeping babies rounded up. "You can bathe first, if you'd like. I can feed him while I wait."
 
Looking down at herself, Mia simply had to nod. Let's face it, she was really dirty by now. Gosh, she had grown used to it before, when the masters were not as good with their slaves, but she had also grown used to be clean and tidy by now. "Yeah… Perhaps I should" She then bid farewell to the babies and the person Tome had fetched and walked back to the room along the two of them. "I won't take long" Mia declared as she slid into the bathroom.


She had, indeed, planned on being quick while taking the bath, if only it hadn't been for that stupid bug. Seriously, she was not that much of a scaredy cat, but it was huge! Black and huge! A yell she couldn't stop made its way out of her mouth and she quickly scrambled her way out of the tub, even slipping and falling on her back. Just as quickly as she had grown scared though, she relaxed. How silly! Her drenched hair was falling all over her face as she used one hand to pull it back and the other to help herself up. Too many emotions for the day She thought to herself.
 
Tome took off his shoes and socks and walked inside barefoot, crouching to feed Joachim rather than touching anything since he'd gotten dirty as Mia had. He looked up when he heard her scream, as Joachim did, and immediately ran to go and see what was wrong. He opened the door without really thinking, without stopping to realize she was about to take a bath and must therefore be naked.


"Mia-“ When he came to a stop in the doorway, his eyes went a little wide, surprised and wondering where the danger was, and he immediately turned them away, unsure about her own personal policy with nudity. A couple seconds later, Joachim came tumbling into the room between his feet, flopping to a stop not far in front of him. Tome wasnt sure whether he should be grateful or not that the tension was broken and that he had something else to look at when the baby started crying.
 
"Oh Lord" Mia didn't have much time to be embarrassed herself, as Joachim started crying and that diverted her attention from the current situation. As calmly and quickly as she could she reached for the towel and wrapped herself with it even if her body was still covered in soap.


Tucking strands of sandy hair behind her ear, she used her other hand to reach for the little one who had already been taken into Tome's arms, whom was trying to soothe him. "There, there" She whispered softly as she caressed Joachim's head gently.


"...There was a... Er... Bug" She finally declared before her cheeks flushed with a faint pink color, which she didn't know if it was because he had seen her naked or because of the silliness of her unjustified scream.

Time managed a nod, trying to just be calm and get his fight-the-scary-thing reflexes down, bouncing


Joachim gently until Mia came over to pet him. Joachim cried still, but quieter when she touched him, and flailed his front paws at her when he could, nearly rolling off of Tome's arms if Tome hadn't kept hold of him. "I-I think he was scared. . . He wants you." He handed the baby off carefully and shifted a bit awkwardly, running a hand up and down the back of his neck. "Did . . . Did you want me to get it?" He was here now, and she was covered, so he could but least take the bug away.
 
Mia wrapped her arms gently around Joachim's little body, rocking him softly and lightly so as not to get him dizzy and instead just get him to calm down. At Tome's question,?she could just look up at him briefly before nodding "Please" She replied.


Not only it was not a really comfortable situation but also her back was throbbing in pain. "Thank you, Tome. For coming" And then the smile did teased its way to her lips, rather grateful a and also in an attempt to relieve the tension.

Tome nodded a little and just walked over to the tub to look for the source of the trouble. "You scared us both. . ." He'd thought someone had come in through a window and tried to kill her or something. But it was just a spider. A big spider, but still only a bug. He respected that some people were afraid of bugs, though, just as he was unreasonably afraid of lizards. He never let that fear get to him, but it was there.


It took a moment to get the spider to crawl onto his hand, and when it was situated he took it to a window, giving Mia a wide berth, and opened the window. Sticking his hand out, he gave one big breath against it and blew it off his hand, so that it fell harmlessly to the bushes below. He closed the window again afterward and just glanced t


Joachim, who had quieted after his fall now that he knew Mia was okay. "I can take him now. He still needs to eat dinner."
 
When Tome spoke, Mia had been rubbing her nose softly against Joachim's snout, which she knew he didn't dislike because of the happy sounds that he made. So, as she raised her head to look at him, her hair cascaded over he face again. "Hmm, oh yeah. I'll be out in a bit" She replied with a small smile.


She handed him over to Tome, however just instantly she slipped again because of the soap that had been rolling down to the floor. Thank God she didn't fall this time, she just grabbed onto Tome's lower part of his shirt and using her other hand to place it against the door at the same time, she recovered her balance which made it all good...


Almost all good if it hadn't been because her towel slipped down to the floor and left her exposed, which caused for her to let out a small yelp. Out of reflex and in panic she did what was faster to hid her nudity and that was hugging herself against Tome, at least Joachim was between him and her chest as she did so.


"Ah... I am so, so sorry" She was quick to apologize, even though she could just stay in that position, frozen with shame. Ok... So it did seem that the world wanted to embarrass her as a payment for allowing her to be happy earlier that day.
