Nation Building BeckonCall's Fantasy Nation-building RPG thread

I was very proud when I won it, that one. Oh, you can google "Crimson bat" and dragon pass as well, though there was no such bat in the PC game... It is in the larger backstory.

I'm posting your shaman's study of the idol RIGHT NOW -- I've been slammed with work this week so I'm glad for the check in... the good news is I have ALL NEXT WEEK OFF so I should be able to process further actions as fast as I like after this temporary slow-down...

....Considering the battle for the Platz (and the Mine incident) have particular gravity potentially I didn't want to half-bake them. Like Anonymous though, expect me. xD

Again, sorry about the delay -- but for a game as detailed and hopefully long-running, everyone is going to slow down now and again -- just know I'll be at least as understanding about anybody else as I will about myself.

AGAIN: THANK YOU EVERYONE THAT PLAYS -- I PUT TREMENDOUS EFFORT THAT I HOPE YOU ENJOY... IT IS MY SINCEREST WISH YOU CONTINUE TO ENJOY IT. <3

@Leusis @SpiralErrant : @Prince Vaethorion

By the way -- while you guys don't have forces in the battle for the 'Platz... the healer's guild, which has Anfel, Weome & Annuc, and 2 high elf spearmen (one injured) -- is going to be surrounded by Mud-Elves.

You may PM me or declare actions about what they might do in response to discovering the masked ones surrounding and/or breaking in -- The High Elf spearmen will defer to Anfel for Orders in this case.

(Anfel may or may not try to get involved in the larger struggle outside if immediate danger can be navigated at the guild)

If you give me parameters here, I'll use them to write the opening post about the encounter at the guild. Otherwise I might just process an intro after the fight is processed/underway.

Could you describe the healers guild building please? That way we all know where the entrances are and what we possibly have to use inside?

It is a roughly rectangular building, with a "railroad" layout... It it split into three squarish rooms, the center is a kind of examination/triage/waiting area... It has a front and back entrance, and two windows on the front. There are beds tables and desks here. On either side are more secure rooms, one is a treatment/surgeon's office for practical or magical treatment, and the other side is a store-room that also has bunks for long-term care. There is a ladder there that leads to a small storage attic, that could become a proper 2nd floor if developed. There are 2 second story windows at either end of the attic. There is no hatch for the ladder access.

@Beckoncall @SpiralErrant @Leusis

If there is time, I guess one possibility is hiding in the attic, pull the ladder up stay silent and hope they pass by.

Depending on how many Mud Elves, we could also try to defend ourselves from the attic. Defending the ladder access and hold up and/or try to escape out the windows.

We could also try to negotiate in Elvish if situation seems impossible, and being captured or killed seems likely.

My Elves will defer to Anfel, but that is what I would suggest.

Hi everybody! Just checking in since we've been quiet for a bit xD
Beckoncall is working on the Platz battle. He got swamped with work. I have held off posting till that battle is resolved. He says he will post this weekend.

Hopefully, it will pick up again after...

Pretty much this.

COMES UP FOR AIR!!!

Friends, thank you for bearing with me- I have not, and will not surrender the game... Merely life has conspired to throw a series of curves beyond belief. The game will pickup soon, those who have faith and understanding will receive it in kind... Just a teaser on what's coming:

-the battle for platz (of course)

-implementation of influence points, particularly for the purpose of absorbing the folk/troops of defunct factions.

-the initiation of trade

-summer, (season two) where the gloves come off and the various folk you've encountered in the wild begin to respond to the colonist presence! Stay tuned!

So as you can see, I'm back -- I hope I didn't lose anybody in the massive crush... I really am enjoying this game. Perhaps tonight or likewise soon I will make sure to tie up all declared actions (like Attolian Opium development, the business at sky-hill, and the like) and people can continue to declare actions.

I hope people still feel invested, and think this shared endeavor is worth the wait once in a while. <3

Your Servant to the most-holy,

-Beck

PS -- thanks again for all the likes and post ratings... it may seem silly, but this is friggin' FUEL for this endeavor to me... If I know people are reading, and enjoying... It spurs me on. I am exceedingly grateful for your effort, and doubly your appreciation. Having a blast.

Dude... I am reasonably committed to seeing that this RP doesn't burn out like so many others. Part of that will do with tolerating breaks from players when things get complicated, and part of that will involve similar understanding towards me. :)

And we are back in action! Quick query about the battle: Some of the Tyren characters went on their way to the healers guild to pick up some help and that sweet human labour in my last post. Would they be arriving at the guild soonish or still stomping about one of the fields?

Read that and intended to process, but on the time-scale of a battle it is uncertain units that are not particularly fast (or forced-marching) will arrive so soon. If the fighting goes on long enough -- Aymaran and Tyren foot troops may arrive before the battle is resolved. However, the time it took Anfel to kick some scout unit's ass and the time it takes to cross shadowfields is a fair difference.

I TOTALLY did not notice the part about Tyren/Human labor -- and is one of the reasons I'm trying to implement "influence" as a currency sooner than expected.

Stay tuned -- I will let you know when your soldiers arrive, but it will likely be after the battle's resolution... which is now a HIGH priority. If I get reactions from Highborn, Aymarans, and Attolians in a timely fashion... in real time this might not be long at all. Sequence wise... Tyren likely won't make it to the church on time, but I'll re-check and if there is sufficient haste suggested in the post (which I don't think I saw before) I may readjust that timetable.

Yeah it sounded like the injuries at camp were minor/well in hand so they weren't in a mad rush to get the healers I think. It was more because of that main unit of witch elves but looking back at the map I think I got the locations mixed up in my head.

And here I was feeling all smug and sneaky at the idea of poaching some exiles xD

Start thinking about this idea carefully -- think of what positive or negative relations you've had lately and the overall political climate. Besides racial differences, an Attolian is far more involved in the everyday life of the exiles, and they have been bonding consistently... If you wish to contract labor, you have the wealth to do that in SPADES. If you were looking to absorb exiles into your own community, that might be trickier...

Some notes on political climate:

Sentiment between the average human and average humanoid (leaders notwithstanding) could be considerably better. It is not a problem yet, because everyone so far appreciates level of cooperation currently present... However, public opinion among Attolian and exile folk is that the current trend is that races like Tyren and Sylvan are starting their own community inland. Likewise, northern faction folk question the strength and necessity of south-folk obligation, especially with recent and longstanding racial disharmony.

It's not a problem now, but with humans fighting and dying without aid in the platz and with hardships to come, this is something to take note of.

It's been rumored the former, larger, and richer colonies here fell for the same reason. I'm not saying that you can't find several ways to overcome that, or even that it wouldn't be fun to see it play out even if this story has an unhappy ending...

I will say a "form government" quest has been laid down, and it just might be a critical one... Though there are many pressing matters, too much to deal with should be a fun aspect of the game!

Question, did Lothar and the other Attolian soldiers start making their way back to the marketplatz all of a sudden? Also, I have a total of 3 sundered kings. So, are all but 1 of them with Caelis right now?
