Nation Building BeckonCall's Fantasy Nation-building RPG thread

It would not appear so -- it would appear they crossed the river and just rolled up on the east side of the 'platz... there is not much stopping them from doing so...

Processing for elves and then I'm THINKING I'll be nearly caught up! If you have actions that you do not think I've not processed in the order they went in... CUT AND PASTE THEM HERE... so I can be sure I got everything.

But right now elves are next, got some tyren investigation, then mine and mud-elf drama.

Also: @Prince Vaethorion : it looks like you truncated your post, but the titanic original is still in the thread... for ease of reading, I'd edit out the redundancy and keep backup actions on file until we process them all.. you keep setting up 5, I'll keep knocking them down. xD

I had a post about Nicolas taking 3 soldiers and going off to investigate the spire where he heard about the clockwork soldiers. It was on page 9.

I am confused, I thought I put the truncated one in place of the original which was deleted? I will go check.

ok, I think I fixed it.

I have a question. If responding to another post, is it best to hit reply or to post in order? I ask this, because I am behind in reacting to some other posts, but I was waiting to the older one to be responded to, to see who is available to respond. I mean to the post about the Attolian interaction, the Tyren digging, and the fishing. I am abreast of the post, but I was waiting for the main action post to be posted. I realize it was delayed because of my massive 20 order post and other errors I made. I think I answered my question. It seems to be fluid. I will respond but not in insane length like other posts.

Another question, are the High Elves aware of the attack by the 50 masked men? I did not see my name tagged. Also, I am unsure how to note in the time line when something occurred earlier or perhaps it's obvious?

As far as I'm aware, you should know about the attack if you have people in the 'Platz. Beck may have just forgotten to put you in the list.

@Prince Vaethorion : I didn't cc you because you do not have designated patrolmen in the 'platz, or at least not out of the SW part where the High Elves are settling. If you set up sentries or some kind of security detail you will be much more likely to catch wind of things. I threw some dice to see if agents of yours in the Healer's guild or the Inn (bard) might have heard something.. but considering the attackers were in stealth you were not looped in.... HOWEVER...

Since @Elendithas responded that he is roaring loudly, you could take that as a prompt that the elves at healers and the Bard now know something is up... they'd either have to respond themselves, or raise the alarm with your folk in SW 'platz... better yet, you guys could get together and establish some system of raising an alarm.

As far as continuity -- relations with players can happen outside the scope/timeline of regular actions being processed... you can react to all sorts of stuff going on, your hands are not tied until your last post is processed -- if somebody attacks you, you would respond to that right away, for example -- rather than waiting for a project to get built.

But enough talking about your posts... let me process some! :D

I had originally posted guards in the initial huge post, but when truncated it was not included on the end, because it surpassed five orders. from original post:

"
(HAVE REMAINING 15 Swordmasters Provide security. 5 in Markplatz Tent Pavilion and 5 on beach by dock and ship, 5 patrol perimeter of tent pavilion )"

Yeah... But that post gave me analysis paralysis. You are free to declare more actions.

So are the High Elves actually immortal from aging Tolkien style or do they just call themselves that cus they're crazy old? Or crazy?

Like so many other things, it's intentionally ambiguous. For game purposes elves are effectively immortal, though the vicissitudes of fate often enough prevent true immortality. The very oldest elves are said to retire or ascend to some other place, but most non ancient ELVES know less than a speck about that. The rest of the races? It just seems that way. Try not to get hung up on it. The average elf spends longer the a Tyren lifespan planning their retirement...

By tonight Tyren study of monument will be posted, and hopefully the initial stages if not decisive completion of the Battle of 'Platz.

Feel free to PM me with suggestions/strats/questions

@Beckoncall So I'm wondering if you've ever played a game called King of Dragon Pass? Because it's giving off a very similar vibe to this RP. Right down to the wandering minotaurs speaking trade languages xD

Dude I have played everything! While the trade minotaurs were more borne of OUR collusion, the reference to "dragonnewts" is certainly not and is a straight up reference. In high fantasy everything borrows from everything, so you can never be sure what is an homage and what is reinvented. KoDP was a GREAT consequence based game, so a game like this could easily feel similar as this game is conseeuence based... My biggest concern so far in the game is that everybody seems to make such good decisions... So losses will trend light until something REALLY bad happens and people will Blanche. Got stuff written, just need to post. Stay tuned!
