Nation Building BeckonCall's Fantasy Nation-building RPG thread

REMINDER! One more participant is needed to form the healer's guild! (Tyren and Attolian are part)

Yeah was gunna hold off on posting until my last post got processed. This is literally the second time they got left behind due to post gun jumping :/

Good thing I said he'd meet them by the bridge but it's beginning feel like folks are just rushing ahead and ignoring what eachother are posting.

I didn't get that impression -- The Attolians met Orm at the bridge and asked him not to forge ahead until peaceful contact was actually made.

(it was also assumed the possibility that you might insist on following)

Yeah but it would have been nice to get the chance to respond before they just marched on anyway. Especially with Shul going to investigate the spirit that has the potential to change matters a great deal.

It hasn't been processed yet -- if you stop the delegation from going out, you can halt their departure and insist you join... heck, Belanor could do that too, but that would likely be horribly antagonizing.... this is the stuff diplomacy and friction is made of! xD

I'm still chucking dice and mulling... so you have a mite bit of time to interject on the departure if it pleases you, even if only to state your preferred action for me to process if you lack time to post.

@Heyitsjiwon -- let me know when you're on, I might want to talk to you about your envoys before I process the action, in chat or PM...

Going to process the Fountain and Shul w/ plains spirit first, then meeting perhaps, and any other outstanding actions.

Yeah I'm going to be busy most of the next few days so if I don't get the chance they'll definitely want to hold things up and go across too. Since they got left behind last time and that went how it did plus not feeling comfortable with the idea of the Attolians getting possible sole say in the outcome when it's going to effect the Tyren most of all.

@SpiralErrant @Heyitsjiwon

Looks like you and the Attolian Player are going to have to navigate this impasse... or they'll have to find a way to sneak around you! xD

Given how some previous posts have gone that wouldn't surprise me.

@Heyitsjiwon timezones seem to be kicking us in the teeth here but I think it might be best if we at least hash things out OOC before things go further just to clarify what's been communicated between our sides and how it's proceeding. Right now it feels like the Attolian posts are moving things along really fast in real world terms and I'm just left playing catch up to them.

And just to clarify to all Orm isn't planning on sneaking across. He's going to prep translators and presents as well and try for them all to go as one group.

@SpiralErrant

Ahh, got it. My apologizes if it seems I've been rushing things. Please, let me know if something like this happens again! I'll be more than willing to talk or make a large collab post again.

My intention was to have the Attolians just establish contact with the gnolls alone. Not to make any deals or agreements alone. Just get the gnolls to the table to talk. The reason is because the gnolls have seen and fought against the elves and the Tyren. I don't plan to try and have the Attolians as the only party present in talks (what's the point of making friends with the gnolls if I estrange the elves and Tyren after all?), which is why Lothar was willing to have Orm participate after contact. It's just that I want to make sure that we don't get shot the instant we're seen and having any faction who was present last night in the battle would increase the chances of that happening.

No problem, I just wanted to make sure we were all on the same page as far as things were going. Sorry if I came across as curt by the way.

If it's okay with you then I can make mention of Lothar meeting with Orm and basically giving him that same brief at the bridge. That combined with the mentioned advice from Maeder could be enough to convince him to stay back behind his own lines and we wont break the flow that's going so far.

You wanted to see me dice lord?
Indeed, Attolian -- if you're around, just post a PM under this one and I'll see if I can catch you -- I wanted to see if we could work out some of the particulars of diplomacy in real time, to get the most earnest reactions... I'll invite you to chat (or vice versa) if we can catch each other.

Hi Everyone,

I am a bit confused on the mechanic on how time works. My impression was that we need to wait for our turn to be processed before taking further action? Also, I noticed that time although fluid, seems to be moving at different paces for different factions because of their turns being processed in different orders or because of events that are already in motion, or because of frequency of posting. I would like to see some action occur and have some input in the 72 hours before the meeting with the Gnolls occur.

Is there any mechanism that can establish a consensus on how fast or slow time is made or turns are made? For example, can we agree when we want time to be paused or accelerated? Is this mechanism already in place? I admittedly have not read the 20 pages of OOC chat yet. Also, if unrelated to previous post being processed, like an afterthought, or a different action, can that be posted before last turn is processed?

Hope these questions are clear and not jumped.

Just as a bit of clarification, if I read correctly, it doesn't look like it's already been 72 hours and they're going to see the gnolls. More like they have a total time-frame of 72 hours to go, negotiate, and come back with the news before the wood elves go on the offensive without them. Not sure if you were viewing that in a different way or not, but as far as I can tell, it's only been a few hours for them, up to 24 anyway.

Well, get ready for quite an interesting post. The meeting with the gnolls... did not go quite as planned.

The elves set a deadline the night before -- by morning, Lothar went into the wood, so by my reckoning, after Lothar comes back he still has a full day and until evening the day after.

The diplomatic results of the Attolians are posted... after that I'm processing high elf moves, then anything outstanding underneath that.

I feel like Walks-In-Cull is gonna like the Aymarans. Y'know, or try and fight them for glory. Maybe both.

Just wanted to make sure before I go ahead and post. You read that Goq-quet was fluently speaking high elven, correct? Wasn't sure if it was like a situation in which somebody sees a foreigner speaking their language, but mentally doesn't register it because it doesn't make sense to them.
