Nation Building BeckonCall's Fantasy Nation-building RPG thread

Right, but the current sewers are dilapidated and the waters are stagnant. But, if they were to be restored, then I imagine that they would be cleaner since fresh water is being brought in to the platz.

@Heyitsjiwon : The sewers under the Platz are likely an extension of the sewers under the greater ruin to the west -- as such, the amount of volume the sewer tunnels are built to allow to flow (large enough for groups of people to move with plenty of space) is DRASTICALLY greater than any size the colony could hope to achieve in the short term... or even the very long term possibly... As it is, the water level in most sewer tunnels is knee-deep or lower in the tunnels, though lower pits, sluices, and under-areas might be considerably deeper. If your concern was flooding Aymarans out -- Restoring continuity to the tunnels wouldn't do that -- if anything, the free-flowing water would make it cleaner down there -- and there would still be enough turf above water for a band their size to be able to bask comfortably for some time to come.

This is speculation -- if everybody in the old world starts to think the colony is a great place to move to, this could change... maybe... but for now I'd say (since you both have engineers and I can therefore say you might have the information) -- the Aymaran presence in the sewer might actually HELP the sewer utilization effort... because the main thing screwing up the sewer is big rock collapses... something Aymarans are good at fixing.

@Heyitsjiwon : It's reasonable to expect that some areas would become far more flooded, but it's also reasonable to assume that Aymarans would be able to cordon off areas to keep them adequately habitable. Even if there's a large resouivoir in an area, the Aymarans could turn a fraction of it into a swamp and nobody would likely notice.

@Elendithas @Heyitsjiwon :

When the time is perceived as right, The Attolian and Aymaran Engineers should probably get to talking about the project... I might have to make a 2nd nebulous map of the underground as well! xD

They'd eventually find out when a giant anaconda creeps out of the sewers, followed by a giant crocodile-man furiously beating it to death.

I am suddenly looking forward to the idea of alligators in the sewers.
Everybody SAYS THAT until they hear about the giant scummy spawning pools the Aymarans have. When everyone's toilet is swarming with baby alligator people -- we can address the issue again.

I'm kidding of course.... or am I? :D

Yes. Kidding. Ha ha ha. >.>

I'm just picturing the Aymarans in cute little plumber hats and overalls xD

"Brute will learn trade! Brute will charge huge call out prices but never give time of arrival!" luckily they only charge people in meat.

"This CAN'T be right -- there's no amount here! this bill says cost of service is an arm and a leg!"

(Aymaran plumber smiles)

In the name of diplomacy cultural exchange come see the all Aymaran version of "Merchant of Venice." Their take on the bard's play is- thirty minutes long. Their Shylock took his pound of flesh with interest.

Well that turned into a wall. I might need to start using a smaller font size. Had a lot of trouble tagging multiple people in that so just a heads up to everyone, the tyren reply to Lothar's report and their stance on the conflict is pretty much aimed at everyone present in the bit titled Rough Diplomacy. Just kept the manner of them hearing it vague for the sake of ease so people aren't stuck in another tent meeting scene.

THIS GOES OUT TO EVERYONE PLAYING:

*THANK YOU for coming this far with me -- I am really enjoying this game and have tried to do my best to help run a campaign that you all can enjoy too.

THANK YOU for sticking it out, and still having interest in what is to come.

THANK YOU for all being such brilliant creative minds that make static ideas so much more dynamic just for bringing your own preferences, choices, and attitudes.

I was very lucky to have found this forum, and I'm very lucky I have players like you guys.

Game on!

I calls 'em like I sees 'em... and yeah, maybe I'm a bit quicker with a praise or sentiment than the next lad -- but I'm comfortable with that. I'd rather people know they're appreciated than think they might be. <3

@Leusis / @SpiralErrant

GREAT sharing of diplomacy -- really jazzed about that. Can't wait to process Belanor's most recent actions...

It's worth noting that two tears of divinity is a LOT of nature power. Orm may have been grasping at straws about moving trees -- but making or moving a forest may definitely be in the reach zone with the kind of Gem-energy you have on hand to tap -- especially if you were willing to expend a lot of power and/or with both of the gems in unison -- and there may even be potential in employing the fertility spirit. If such ideas appeal to you, we can discuss in PM or otherwise what sorts of things might be desired and the degree to which they may be realizable.

Then again, it might just be badass to give each of the winterborn twins a weapon or armor with a nature gem in it? xD

Alternatively, if peace can be made with the Gnolls, or at least a truce -- they expect you all to be dead in two years hence... so it might not be a hard sell if diplomatic conditions become stable that the elven of the two heads be on the other side of the river... or of course you guys could just kill every Gnoll in sight until they surrender the idea that they're getting that part of the wood back... I guess all that can come out through advisors... :D

That's some drool inducing power right there. It'll make the town planning meeting an interesting one that's for sure xD

I could go mad thinking of stuff one could do... sure, gleamsplitters store sunlight... what kind of synergy might that have with an inset nature gem?! :D

Decisions, decisions...

A sword that photosynthesises itself? Lol

The Village of Bridge-of-the-Mill

These pics right here! I was looking for pics as some inspiration to use in future posts and though these aren't in line with it they really sum up the kind of thing I was thinking of when I joined this RP. Like check out the progress and they guy's work and that is some damn fine map making, might have to try it myself.

Let me know what steps you're taking to learn and I may put an oar in as well. Many hands make light work.

Been delayed with work projects but confident things will be proceeding apace shortly. xD

Game on!
