She would visit her uncles from time to time on occasion, she would move around very often so the time the visits occurred depends but she did prefer that over going to her grandparents. Sherlock would never tell about their relationship unless he had to which came to many surprises since she knew for a fact she is rarely mentioned even to Watson. She graduated school at a young age and recently finished her masters degree. Her excuse for visiting is an 'internship' for sherlock since Mycroft wouldn't accept her offer to work for him.
