Avatar: Tales of the Hundred Year War

Yao frowned.

"Era... Remember that little talk about volunteering me in noble action without running it by me."He said before being thanked by friends and family for staying. He exhaled in resignation as he watched them leave and sort their passage out. He turned to Yao. "I guess we need to get us some supplies and a new weapon for me."

Era looked over, "You wanted to be a hero, now you are of our whole village." She watched the others leave. "There is a weaponry in the next town, it seems most of this town been evacuated so we can see what we find in an abandoned home." She hated to steal but if it was abandoned it wasn't technically stealing.

"Not my point but whatever."He muttered before following her through the town for an abandoned building. He was keen on looting as this was peoples things which more then likely were left not by choice. However desperate times calls for desperate measures and it was the best way to get supplies as people left in a great hurry.

"Era, I know I don't need to say I but thanks for before in the battle." He said trying to enjoy the brief lull from the excitement." Wasn't keen of being fire nation grill."

Era looked over at him, smiling lightly. "You would and probably will do it for me on many occasions." She smiled, opening the door to an abandoned home. "I hate to say it but should we stop at a few homes to look for money?" She asked, looking at him.

"Do the same? Me? Dream on! You are on your own sister." He said jokingly as the approached the abandoned house. He sighed at the question." I would like too say no, though it will take us a while to get to the next village so this is our only chance...Well, I think we build enough good things to balance this out... i hope."He stepped inside feeling there werent going to get anywhere trying to rationalize it and began to search."Found some bread and cheese."

She was looking for some money until she seen a little lock box. "Cheese will get old," she said using a rock to break the lock, seeing a good sum of money. "I got money." She called, looking for a bag to put the money in.

"What old, i am hungry now thanks to the fighting."He said taking a bite of the cheese before looking on the rest of the kitchen. "I found some dried meat and..."He took out a small herb box and opened it. He was surprised at its contents." I found some jewelry looks valuable, surprised it was left behind."

Walked in, "They seemed wealthy, I got a good bit of money." She said walking to eat the rest of the cheese. "Should we take it incase we need more money? I shouldn't bring meat, we can hunt."

"It cant hurt, apart from making a tempting target for bandit."He said handing the cheese to her."Also we need to consider weight, we dont have a sky bison or anything to carry us and everything. Just bare that in mind."

"I can make tents." She ate the cheese before grabbing what little things they can carry. "This should fit in a bag, we need two blankets the rest we can work on our own for." It wasn't a farming town so no animals big enough to carry.

"Agreed."He said before helping Era carry a few things."The sooner we leave the better, this place has turned to ghost town so fast... Seems like something is going to jump out at us for the salvaging."

She nodded, getting bags to put the things in. "I agree, go and look in the bedrooms for blankets." She said looking over everything. This was going to be hard.

"Way ahead of you."He said already moving to the bedroom and gathering what blankets he found as well as a few changes of clothes. He showed the clothes he picked up for Era, though he was not well versed in judging size or style."Are these any good for a change of clothes"?

"It's big but it'll work." She said rolling them up to put in the bag. She strapped the blankets on the bags and gave him one. "Alright, we should get going before it gets dark."

"Ok, lets go."He said placing the bag around his should and walking outside and walked towards the port looking out at the sea as if trying to track his parents ship at a distance. Though he could see small sign of ships in the distance, he could make any of the ships out. He took a deep breath and forced a smile."Not how i would want my adventuring to start though i cant afford to picky can i?"

Era chuckled, looking up at him. "Don't you tell me to have hope? Things will work out." She promised, looking around. She couldn't help but feel her brothers and his where gone. She seen what men stayed behind, to work on ships for a free pass, at the port. They waved to the two travelers. Hoping they would be safe.

"Heh.. I do don't I." He said with chuckle before turning to Era." Yes they I will, I am sure of it." He added trying to convince himself more than Era." Lets start then, last one to the village exit has camp making duty for three day! No bending!" He began to ran down the road out of the village.

"How do you think we will even have tents? That's not fair." She said running after him, "I still get stuck with it!" She called, running as fast as she could with all the weight on her back.

Yao just laughed at her complaining, not really caring about the outcome of the race going so far to slow down for her. This was more about adding a little levity to this grave situation of being refugees for both their sake.

Two villages later...

"I really thought that village still had a weaponry, maybe this one does." She said with a yawn, the morning still early for the them. "Maybe you'll find something here," she said to Yao.

"Hmm...sure."He acknowledged Era's statement sheepishly, still not fully woken up since they set off. He sighed, he felt a little useless and more then a little emasculated without a weapon of any kind having to rely on Era bending to protect themselves to the dangers of the road. He wanted to be of help, protect her like she would do and have done for him.

Era yawned, walking with him. She didn't mean to make him feel bad for not having a weapon. She looks around. "There's a place we can check out."

He looked at a few places before finding a blacksmith and his store. His eyes lit up as he rushed inside looking at the selection like a kid in a toy store. He focused on the polearms picking one up and had a feel of it. "Mmmm... A maybe..." He muttered replacing it with another.

"Are all boys like you?" She asked picking up a blade that was squiggly looking. It seemed cheap enough. "I like this one." She commented quietly.

" If they are worth there manhood they are." He said confidently as posed heroically with one of the naginata spear before chuckling. "Just kidding. This feels nice.... Though expensive... Shame." He put the spear back disappointed before looking at what Era picked out." It suits you, get it! I will get something from somewhere else."
