Action Point pools refresh when you train for a new level. You do not add the current points to the new pool. After training for level 8, Luna (and everyone else) will have 5 + half her new level (4) for a total of 9 points.

As far as rooms...well, we've only been using the rooms for a couple nights, right? It's conceivable we just sort of crashed into the first ones we came to, and now we're making it official.

That would make Oti's room the pool room...

Thanks for clarifying that. It's what I expected, but it's good to know for sure.

@Captain Hesperus You might find it interesting to know that the font used to represent Otiorin's signature on the map of the wagon is actually called Half Elven (and I only found that out after I already chose it) *woof*

Awesome :)

Captain Hesperus

Kaerri is correct concerning Action Points (thanks, Darlin'!). Otiorin's font is indeed awesome. And... I guess I have what feedback I'm going to get concerning the three questions I asked. So...

I guess that means... it's Railroad time! All aboard!

"Train Train" by the magnificent Lynda Carter (of Wonder Woman TV fame). From the Fallout 4 video game. =)

Hang on to your hats in-game!

I'm thinking I'll go with 4th level Sorcerer to bring my classes into parity. That'll give me a level 2 spell and a new cantrip as well as the ability to cast that level 2 spell three times a day.

Captain Hesperus

Otiorin comes walking out to dinner just wearing his bath towel? Jeez-Louise, this guy is a nut! Ha ha!

Hah! Do we need to start playing, "I'm Too Sexy" by Right Said Fred? =)

Ha ha ha! Delightful! Never seen The Full Monty, but I know Miss Donna when I hear her. That video is outrageous. =)

I'll be going up ranger next. I like parity in my class levels too :) Maybe Bren and Wolf can train together!

I should have played a mage. Them wizards and sorceresses get all the fun. Meanwhile, I get to spam arrows from the back row and deliver ranger-like dialogue. Note to self - don't play a classic anything next time. And by the way, wondering if it's just me or does this happen to anyone else... Every time Sherwood or Captain write the word "cantrip" I read "catnip" for half a second >.< (Maybe it's because I haven't seen my Puky in over 5 months now. I miss him like crazy.)

Dann, you needn't apologize every time you put together a longish post. That was just over 1200 words. It takes an average reader 1 minute to read 200 words, so that took five minutes. Not unreasonable. Now, that's not to say there aren't times when you are due an apology. My mind is still reeling from some of them. Melshaef's tale, for example. I almost had to start reading from the beginning before I had reached the end! *woof*

Something I'd like cleared up, though.

... he wandered out into the pool room, clad in only his bath towel to hear Glider's words
It's not his exhibitionist tendencies that make me frown at this sentence. It's that the post implies that we are having dinner in the pool room, and I assumed that we are using the dining room next to the kitchen in the right wing. So which is it?

@Kaerri - Maybe Wolf can show Bren some tricks! That must be the only area where he could possibly best him.

*Calls Otiorin to the dining room for dinner.* "Hey! Bring yo' Mista Half Elf Hot Stuff to the table, man!" =)

Great. Now I'm going to start reading catnip when I'm reading through the spell section. =)

Wolfimus Maximus. Thanks for your thoughts. =) I don't know where to draw the line on what a long post is or isn't anymore; this time I just wrote until the scene was done (Railroading being what it is). Still, there has been confusion in the past concerning my posts and their length for other players (Kaerri, for one). So, I guess my apology is directed toward those players who think 1,000+ words is too big? I just want to write posts that are of a size to everyone's satisfaction (including mine). Or, more to the core of the problem, I don't want to inconvenience anyone. Hmm...

Re: "I should have played a mage." Sharseya was intended to be a long-running campaign back in 2000. Same goes here. I have a method for characters to completely change their class and start all over. There are restrictions (as it's a mighty big thing to do), but I understand, especially for players new to D&D/Pathfinder. If you decide you want Leonard to lose his Ranger levels, we can do something in-character about that. Just say the word and I'll provide more details. This is also a good time to do it too.

Hearing of an existence of such a method makes me both intrigued and a little scared. But to be objective, it does draw some concerns.

  • Wolf fullfills a very useful role in the party at the moment. I am aware of that. It would take no less than another proper ranger to replace him.
  • Being a ranger has both defined Wolf as a character as well as shaped him since. Were he suddenly something else, would he still be Wolf at that?
  • I fear that doing this wouldn't necessarily sate my hunger. What I really long for, I think, is roleplaying someone else. Not that I've had enough of Wolf, tho.

@Sherwood - That probably sounded alot sexier in my head than in reality *rawrrr*

@Captain Hesperus - Well to be fair, I don't believe that the Storyteller explicitly stated where it was that we were having dinner (until just now, that is).

Leonard certainly does fulfill a big role in the party; it pays to have a ranger or druid (or both!) in a party around Highwind.

Would Leonard still be Leonard? My guess is no. In my experience, changing a class changes the character in big ways. For one thing, one has to qualify for said class (Wizards use Intelligence as their primary offensive attribute while Sorcerers use Charisma). Leonard has a INT of 10 and a CHA of 11. As a Wizard, Leonard would barely able to cast catnips, er, cantrips. As a Sorcerer, Leonard can cast 1st level spells. If Leonard suddenly re-classed as an 8th Wizard or Sorcerer, he wouldn't even be able to use the big spells of either class.

Something to keep in mind - at 8th character level, PCs get to raise any attribute of their choice by one.

Something else to keep in mind. Leonard has a very high Dexterity and above-average Wisdom score. These are the primary attributes for Rogues, Clerics, Druids, and Monks.

No one knows better than me that he wouldn't be the same were he another class. That's why I wouldn't actually do that. Not because of Pathfinder mechanics. Not because math says he'd suck as X because he has the parameters of Y. Like you just poined out, he'd probably do fine transitioning into one of those other classes. But my thinking out loud that prompted this conversation isn't driven by a desire to simply try out another class' rules.

It stems from the need for a change of mental scenery, I think. You said it: Sharseya is a long running game. We've been at this for a while, and God willing, we'll be at it for a while to come. That is good for a variety of reasons. But it's also keeping me in the same shoes all the while. I guess what I really need is to actually play another character - not make this one into someone else. I'd join another RP but I know there's no other worthwhile freeform games running here, not of the quality of Sharseya and Amaranth. That said, I do have my Amaranth, even if it is in a damaged state right now (but so am I), but I'm the Storyteller over there. It is too much of a job to offer what playing in someone else's game gives me.

Yes, I could just write. Offline. Open up a text editor and take it out there. But it's not the same in singleplayer. I am sick and tired of loneliness.

Never mind, I guess *woof*

Wolf, I'd like to point out that the reason that Kaerri doesn't have a "main character" given all her years playing in Sharseya (she's got Kaerri her half-elf and Bren sharing the top spot). You are more than welcome to do the same. We can put Leonard into Temporal Stasis with Pecker. We can say Leonard gave Luna a kiss and went off into the woods for however long. If you want to give another character a try, by all means, go for it! This is no different than when we started the game and I told you guys to "play what (or who) you want."

I want you to have fun! =)

I'll help you along the way, we'll find out what new ideas would keep you grinning, and so forth.

The choice (as always) is yours. Don't think for a moment that the party is going to fail because they've lost their high-level ranger... They've still got Bren, Otiorin, and Sabrefang to help in such roles and they'll do just fine!

When it boils down to it, my main concern isn't the characters - it's the players. Want to try a Wizard? How about a Paladin?

Above all, what path sounds like the most fun for you? =)

No, I... I don't want to push Wolf into the twilight zone while I toy with another character. It's been increasingly difficult to roleplay him due to the shape that I'm in (and he's a projection of myself), but in the past couple days I've started to enjoy posting again. So I'd rather not do that despite how much I also want to play someone else. It would really be toying, as I feel like playing someone unusual and disruptive (not in a terribly bad way, no), and it might not work and then I'd have to pull back Wolf and try to make excuses for my reckless action.

I just, well... I don't see the path leading to the fun I have in mind, unfortunately.

And did you just suddenly change chapters? I guess I'll finish and post my post there, then *woof*
